The Melbourne Central Clock - Tourist attraction in Northcote, Australia
Its just a shopping mal not the tourist attraction! Dont know why it comes as a suggestion there! Its a nice shopping center though 😊
Famous place in Melbourne
A unique piece from Seiko! We arrive on the hour and we’re presented with chimes and music from its performance. The lower piece drops down and you can see the craftsmen ship. I enjoyed this 3 minute show. I would recommend coming if your in the area, but not if you want to come only to travel to come see this. The area itself needs to be explored!
Came here to take photo and walk around the mall. The giant pocket watch hanging at the atrium by SEIKO!. there is Plenty of food at the basement level.
It’s so cool they preserved this architectural history and even have a small museum about it! Very fun free experience!
Great meeting place - in a very busy shopping Mall with international food court at upper level.
got my wallet stolen under this clock. 3 star
The iconic timepiece within Melbourne Central, presents an hourly animation.
Largest clock I have ever seen!
Meeting under the clocks, on the steps at the very front of Flinders Street Railway Station has been the meeting place for generations of people, in fact, since the 1860s when the clocks were first installed there. Its a Melbourne tradition. Locally, we say "lets meet under the clocks" and everyone knows where to meet, even if you dont necessarily come into the city by train. However, its not the best place to meet on cold, wet and miserable winter days. An alternative is to meet at the Clock under the glazed spire and enclosed tower of the Melbourne Central. On the hour, a semi-circular display with 2 minstrels, 4 Australian galahs and 3 cockatoos starts to drop down from behind the bottom of the clock and the minstrels start playing the unofficial Australian Anthem, Waltzing Matilda. This show lasts for about 3 minutes. While not as yet famous as the astronomical clock in Prague or the musical Clock at Collegium Maius, Jagiellonian University in Krakow (and Ive been lucky enough to have seen both), the Melbourne Central Clock is certainly becoming a famous Melbourne tourist attraction and youll often see people lining up to see it and take photos and videos of the display.
Great place to shop and look around.
Hi MELBOURNE Central FACEBOOK page robertsalan57@gmail.com THANKS for you MESSAGE SAFE NEXT week
You have to love the Clock Tower! An iconic Melbourne Landmark
Modern and beautiful! Every hour (eg. 10:00, 11:00 etcthere is a short interesting show. So, plan your visit to not miss it.
In the shopping centre. Try to be there every hour to see the beauty of the clock.
Great place to get Instagramable post. Cozy place and lots of Asian food.
Great themes during the year...loved Muckey Mouse and Marvel
Its a shopping centre with metro below. Lots of retailers and large food court.
Amazing structure inside a very ritzy Shopping Centre.
If you havent been there, then your missing out
AMAZING lots of place you can look and shop for.
There is a cool little museum where you can learn about the shot tower if you go inside the store between the escalators
Great spot to really experience melbournes rich history blended with modern life
Everyo hour the classical clock will have the performance
Exciting place. lots of shops has a food court and a cinema. Worth stopping by.
The bell and the shops esp the Cadbury shop is a must see. Its too crowded though.
It is like the centre of the city. Everyone coming to the city go across this place at least once. :)It is always crowded and there is always some event taking place which attracts more people. It is a fun place to visit.
Nostalgia from spending childhood weekends here was strong
Great place to hang out with friends and go shopping, watch movies and dining.
I live Melbourne Central. It has such a great vibe. A wonderful array of stores and the variety in the food court is fantastic. Classy and fun with something for everyone!
I love it. Many stores and food.
Just as busy as I remember it in my teenage years. Lots of yummy food shops to visit, clothes shopping is neccessary whwn shopping here just so you can say I got it from MC!
The perfect place to meet up before a good time in the city. Bonus Waltzing Matilda.
Great especially for children and children, to watch rendition of Waltzing Matilda.
Constantly got heaps of tourists under it. Making the walk through Melbourne central hard!!!! But its kinda cute tho. Just hate the crowd it draws
Good place to meet a friend. But not for the sightseeing place. Short, and just one time experience😆
its interesting to be able to read a timeline of the loccation in Melbourne. I brought a friend here as they kept saying how cool it was to have an old building inside a new one... so i asked, have you ever been inside?
Did not like that the immediate space below it is leased out for expos and other programs. Difficult to take a photo underneath and have to go on the next level to get a decent shot.
Most symbolic object found in Melbourne Central. Always refer to as heart of Melbourne. Be there at 12 or 6 to see the mericle clock in work
Its an unique innovation next to the st.Petersburg(Russiaclock.
Love place and ausm thing to see.
Very loud, stand back if you want your ears intact
Slightly charming, but very meh.
Scenic. A mix of the old and new
Everything you need is there. Food, shopping, movies and conveniently accessible by train and tram
For a clock that big i thought it should do more then sing. My phone does that and its tiny.
Well the clock opens up and they is a display of birds and stuff every hour, I see it every day so Im over it. Tourists love it, my only gripe is now that that there are stores In that area it makes it very difficult to walk to the escalators to either go down to the train or up up to the food court.
Amazing clock that hasn’t changed in decades. Glad to see it’s still here
THE LARGE CLOCK IS WORTH A LOOK AND LISTENBack in the day when Melbourne Central opened and Daimaru was a bustling store, the Big Clock was quite a hit with locals and tourists - entertaining all with an hourly musical performance. It doesnt attract crowds anymore but kids will probably enjoy seeing / hearing it :)
A beautiful musical clock that is a must see for every Melbourne City visitor.Simply grab a coffee and enjoy the views. At times it can be crowded however, it is worth seeing.
