Thames-side pub with small bar, upstairs restaurant and tables on wooden deck overlooking the river.
A brilliant pub. Just the kind of historic pub, in a beautiful area, that one dreams of. Good service and great beer.I’ve been many times but never had the food. Their roast looks delicious and there are always plenty of diners!
We visited for the history: my ancestor put his loser brother on the Mayflower and paid his fare. It did not disappoint on any count. The building and memorabilia are fantastic and I was very happily surprised by the food. I was expecting basic pub food but this was better than average. We got fish and chips, and bangers and mash and it was nicely done with cheerful, funny servers who made us feel very welcome
Lovely place for a pint or a glass of wine. The food is good and the service even better. Giovanni served me and my friends multiple times and I could never thank for his lovely service enough. Always ready to help and kind all the time. This place and Giovanni just make my day ☺️
Lovely location next to the River Thames.Menu varied, food excellent quality & staff are friendly.Definitely recommend.
I went to day to have lunch at the mayflower pub it was my 61 birthday I had amazing time food was brilliant staff was amazing I go back again 😋
Visited for the first time. My family use it regularly so I knew it would be good. Cannot find fault with anything about the Mayflower, polite staff, food excellent and a great variety of beers wines etc. Being the oldest pub on the Thames gives 8it great character.
Really cool pub to sit down with company and have a good chat with lunch. Walked in at about 13 pm and could still get a table for 5.some of us ordered the fish and chips and I had the fish stew. The fish stew was amazing in taste and pretty stuffed with delicious sea food. Prices were okay and drinks tasted good. Service took a bit long though.
Excellent food!! Best pub meal in the entire London trip. Amazing old establishment. Definitely hope to return some day.
This is a charming neighborhood pub, off the beaten path in London. When we were on holiday, we came here on a Sunday evening for Sunday roast. The food was really good and reasonably priced. We sat on the back patio, which is over the River Thames. Its a beautiful view, with Tower Bridge just up river.
Good pub with a good selection of ale but there is very poor cellular signal in the area and the pub has not seen the sense after nearly 20 years to install it. Apparently they fee it takes away from the character of an old pub. If your meeting people for a drink and you need to be able to message the then avoid plenty of other pubs nearby without technophobic.
I and my wife found out about this place 3 years ago. One of our fav spots in London. We did not manage to find a table available for nearly two years and requested a table by the window as we had just gotten married. I booked in advance!Guess? Not a window table for us.. which is fine but the table after did... the waitress accommodates them saying loudly " I just talked to you on the phone...I reserved the best table for you by the window Fine... what is the reason to yell and to make us hear that?Rather than that she was doing her job well, she managed 12 tables on her own. Food is to die for. One of the best roasts in town, many options for vegetarian people; my wife had the vegetarian wellington it was very tasty. Nice decor each table has a little vase with fresh flowers. Price on average with Londons prices.
What a lovely place to have lunch, this place is a very special place. The food has always been amazing (have the pies), it is a bit of a tight space if you have a young child in a buggy / pram.I havent been there for dinner in a long time as it does get very busy in the evenings.
The rumor is that the captain of the Mayflower who also owned a small ship dismantling business, used some of the timbers from the Mayflower to build this pub. Unfortunately, the owners of the pub told me that that was simply a false rumor but it is a very charming pub with very good food and an unbeatable view of the Thames if you manage to sit on the back deck. The food is also quite good for a pub. Highly recommended.
We had an amazing time with our group of 20 friends at the Mayflower. Such a great atmosphere, great location, interesting history (as it is a very old pub), delicious food (we had almost everything on the menu!and to top it absolutely lovely staff. They worked really efficiently as a team and were so attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back!
Will revisit to try their food. What a pub. They have quality beer on tap including Leffe. Full of history and the staff and very friendly. Lots to see in this pub including pamphlets on its history.Indoor and outdoor seating available. I believe they also have Wifi too!
Good old pub with lovely river views. Gets very crowded on the weekends. Well maintained and run , with opulent flower baskets.
Amazing historical pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff, nice cold beer and super delicious huge portions food. I was sitting in terrace over Thames with lovely view. Perfect pub, especially in summer heat 🍻
Small dainty pub right on the river Thames.... Fantastic food great service
Great pub food in a wonderful, Thames venue Good vibe, great ambience, honest food with ample portions. A great night out within staggering distance of our digs.
Used to go to this pub on the Thames with my parents for a drink on Christmas Day sometimes! In the intervening years its become a gastro pub with a 1st floor restaurant. We sat in the ground-floor pub and ate baby squid followed by pan-fried seabass and slow-cooked belly pork and it was all delicious. However, a BIG but...in the pub area theres no table service and you have to go to the bar to order food and drinks. Fine, its a pub after all and not the restaurant. I paid for our food and drink when I placed the order. No problem you think. But on the bill was a 12.5% service charge! Whaaat? I asked for it to be removed. Too bad 👎
Great birthday celebration enjoying tasty fishnchips by the candle light in this super old-looking pub on the Thames bank. Very lively atmosphere, nice waiters and probably the prettiest loo ever! I cant wait to dine here again!
Amazing location and a beautiful old pub. The deck at the back, overlooking the Thames, has got to be the main attraction (get there early to get a seat, it was getting full as soon as they openedbut we sat out front with our bikes and just enjoyed the beautiful church opposite and the historic cobbled streets. Its a beautiful area. Staff seemed friendly and definitely seems like a place Id like to come back to.
I visited The Mayflower Pub on a Saturday night out with friends. At arrival, the place was very busy but we miraculously managed to find a table 🍀. The whole experience was fantastic: staff offered a prompt and pleasant service, drinks were excellent and food very yummy 🤤 I ordered the beef burger 🍔 with chips and it was super tasty (and filling- something you definitely want when ordering a burger!!). Views were fantastic, and we were blessed with the most wonderful sunset! Altogether, it was a wonderful night and I can’t wait to be back! Definitely to add to your bucket list!!
Great end to the weekend, Child A 21 and finished off with Sunday lunch at the Mayflower. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Rotherhithe is a great place to stay exploring London.
It’s a classic historic riverside pub. Great beer and cask ale selection. Always busy but you can normally get a table if you don’t mind where. Food is decent.
This Pub provides all you could imagine a 1700s Pub should offer in atmosphere. The food was very good.Bonus for Americans... if you are a descendant from the Mayflower you may sign their book.Dont miss a chance to see the amazing Pub!
Great little pub. Nice outdoor area. Good food and gluten free option.
This pub is a time machine. Attentive staff and brilliant service guaranteed at all times.Don’t be deterred by the crowded entrance, it’s very easy to find a table at the back.
Fantastic and popular riverside pub, real authentic London pub experience. Old wood panelling inside and a lovely riverside deck out the back. Good service, some beers a bit pricey but probably in line with London pricing these days.
Fantastic location by the river Thames, good selection of well kept cask ales served in excellent condition. A must visit for the sunset and views alone. Fried White Bait and chips were both super tasty. Must be one of the best first date pubs out there. Highly recommended
Absolute gem . Friendly well run , fabulous location Riverside and Street both enjoyable. Fabulous food.
Incredible location and solid beer prices. The sausage and mash was one of the best Ive tried. This kind of pub Ill actually go from quite a bit away to visit but would even more like it as my local.
Pretty fantastic located cosy pub. We always enjoy the views from the jetty. The staff are absolutely friendly and do a good job. Jules was my favourite and she always greets everyone with a wide smile. Their wines are also quite nice and priced decently. The homemade food options are nice for vegetarians and their fish Friday deal is quite nice. Lovely local pub with a bit of history and stunning views.
Unique historical pub nested in lovely Rhotherite village. Fatastic views of the London Skyline over the Thames, good selection of British cheeses and decent cooked food. I give 4 star because I had white wine a couple of times and was at room temperature
Excellent Sunday roast, I had the lamb for ~£18 and it was delicious. They have good vegetarian options too, and outdoor seating when its warmer. We managed to get a seat outside but its very popular so looks like booking would be a good idea.
A classic London river pub. Beautifully antiquey (not sure if thats a wordwooden bar and tables. Paired with a decent beer and wine selection. So views are obviously fantastic at the back of the pub...but also recommend sitting out front as its South facing looking out on the beautiful brickwork of Rotherhithe Street. Service always outstanding. Shout out to Giovanni.
Delicious food, and good company. This is one of the oldest pubs in the area (maybe even in Londonand it has a really simple, ye old world charm. I just spent the evening drinking leffe, dining on mussels/ a lovely cheeseboard. A delightful distraction and I look forward to my next visit. If youre in the area I recommend a visit.
Decent pub grub with a variety of options.Food is goodVibe is goodView is goodCheck it out if you are around the area!Thought the starters were average hence 4 stars
Unique pub, lovely atmosphere and people. I wish I had discovered it sooner!Nice interiors and patio at the back overlooking the Thames.Good selection of tap beers, wine list not very wide.Great food menu, interesting specials, I had the pie of the day with mash, vegetables and gravy and it was tasty and well presented, I recommend it.Friendly staff, good service, cozy environment and fair prices.Ill definitely be back soon!
One of the most famous pubs in South London, but its not overrated. Great service even when crowded, amazing thameside views on the back patio. But the inside is just as good. Probably best inside on a cold winter day, and outside on a breezy summer one.
Some of the staff were verging on rude and the food, at best, could be described as mediocre (despite them claiming to have the best fish and chips in London). It was also well over priced due to the quality of food and staff service. We sat in the restaurant. Unfortunately it was super noisy due to a group of "full of their own self importance" student types. This wasnt helped by the staff then putting music on, which the group had to compete with. I know its a pub, but its still nice to be able to have some conversation over a meal. The pub itself is beautiful and its in a great location. Its so old and Id imagine, full of tales. Its probably worth popping in to for a quick half.
One star for service, which was absolutely great - they were all very attentive, paid attention to detail, they were very helpful and kind. Another star for the views which were absolutely lovely. Another star for atmosphere, fire place and the fact that the whole pub was ever so romantic and cozy. And the last star is for presentation of the food and gigantic Yorkshire pudding. Sadly the food was very disappointing, the lamb was ever so chewy with loads of fat on it, roast potatoes were not done and very hard - never been more disappointed with a roast dinner in my life... It is not that difficult to get it right!!
A cold day to visit but kept warm due to outdoor heaters as we sat outside overlooking the Thames. Fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding were excellent and service friendly and helpful though my sons did have to wait a bit longer for their order even though girlfriend and I ordered after them.
Great food at the restaurant. Prices are a little bit higher than usual for a pub - likely based on the location - but the food is worth it I would say. Decent vegetarian options. And the service was good as well. It’s an intimate dimly lit restaurant, which I personally don’t enjoy but it is still a nice spot for a pub dinner.
Historic pub, apparently where the mayflower ship left from taking the pilgrim fathers to the US about 400 years ago. Claims to be the oldest pub on the Thames though a few pubs make that claim. Nice historic interior and rear seating overlooking the Thames.
I love the atmosphere and the vibe this pub gives. The location is lovely and if you step out in their garden the view is magical! Not too much choices for the beers, while the food menu is quite wide.Staff very friendly !
Incredible pub right on the main river Thames (rhymes with James). Great staff and chill about where you consume your poison of choice. Probably the best hand pulled lager in the area with a quaint setting which lures you into staying there into the wee hours. Would recommend post social sports game or local gathering.
Historic pub on the river Thames. A must visit. Really good service. The potted crab was delicious. Unfortunately the pie was way too overbaked.
Always a pleasure coming here. The staff are super friendly and accommodating!!Service with a smile. They always try and make their best to let you settle. Great pub with incredible history. Serves really good ales different from other tied houses. Service is much better than the Salt Quay pub.
Absolutely amazing pub dinner. Really gorgeous vibe to this place, exactly what youd imagine a pub to be and with amazing views over the Thames. The staff were so so friendly and attentive with their service. The food was outstanding and really good value. I had the wild mushrooms on toast to start, which I cannot describe in words alone. So so so good. Epic slow roasted pork shoulder for main. And one of the nicest sticky toffee puddings Ive had for dessert. Really lovely and treacly. We also shared a cheeseboard. Such lovely cheeses and crackers with a delicious chutney.Would definitely recommend to anyone!
