King's Saltern Rd, Lymington SO41 3QD, San Marino
Overlooking the main Lymington slipway and river, this casual restaurant and B&B is a 5-minute drive from Wightlink-Lymington Pier's ferries. The 6 quaint, traditional rooms feature TVs, tea and coffeemaking equipment and free Wi-Fi. Half of the rooms have waterfront views and 1 has a 4-poster bed.The restaurant serves international cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Outside, there's seating on a terrace and a garden with room for 200 guests at picnic tables. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed and provided with water bowls and biscuits.
Was very nice, steak over cooked but edible.
Very nice place. Cheapest drinks we have had for a long time. Ale in very good condition. Staff nice and friendly. Only downfall was the exterior. It is worn and can do with some tlc. A lot of management about
Wonderful, comfy hotel! Excellent food, great service.Happily stay here again.
Nice hotel overall. Clean. Great breakfast. Good pub and garden. They gave us a folding bed and it was too small and it seemed it was for kids. Bath tub in the middle of the room, waste of space?
A bit pricey for what it was, but it was lovely food, £21 for a chicken Caesar salad is a bit steep
Good real ale, excellent food and pleasant helpful service.
Have wanted to go to this place for a long time. They are in a great location on the waterfront. They came and were surprised. The tables are dirty, the waiters with dirty hands brought sour beer in muddy glasses. The food was very attractive, but after I saw the hair in the salad, they did not eat it. Thanks for ruining the evening.
Lovely place to eat, would highly recommend this to anyone who is near the area
Rather disappointed with the outside food. 8 of us ate and was very disappointed. The surf and turf burger was very unpleasant
Not the worst, but definitely not the best. Good Espresso Martini...
Didnt eat here but menu looked good. Couple of outdoor catering huts serving dish and chips and burgers. Large garden with a small kids climbing section. Good walks around the salt marshes nearby.
Very nice lunch good staff and service , I would say thought £21each for chicken ceaser salad a bit over the top was allso quiet small . Otherwise great
Great place. Food very good, service excellenct
Perfect sunshine pub garden experience. Greeted and served by two very friendly competent young lads at the bar. Friendly prompt service for food orders outside. Enjoyed freshly cooked snacks in the beautiful garden (cooked and served by two hardworking lads in scorching heatTable cleared by another smily young lad. I cant stress enough how important the front of house staff are, and here at The Mayflower, they were all spot on. See you again soon.
Lovely traditional pub , great service at the bar...liked the beer garden..
Good food. Very large garden. They now have alternative food being served in that garden.
Nice rooms , great location. Food was also good and the garden is lovely for drinks. Great base for walks around the local area.
Pretty setting and large beer garden and outside area. Prices are sky high (£17 for fish and chips, standard for New Forest I supposewith an optional; but not advised before adding to your bill; £2 service charge which was attempted per person as we opted to pay separately.Ordering was unnecessarily complicated as we couldnt order from inside menu to eat outside, but outside had no veggie options so we were sent back inside to be told we could eat on the terrace from that menu, but not the grass...So all in all it was a bit of a pain in the arse, not especially enjoyable and given the price and service charge I would of expected table service. My food was nothing special, certainly not a £17 piece of fish, but my friends vegan burger was reportedly very good.Cappuccino was £3.50
Lovely pub Great Outdoor space food well overpriced Kids play area outside very tired .2 staff members insideThey must have been "tired" just very rude and unwelcoming ,Cant believe you close early on a Sunday evening Must be something to do with the rude staff not very many people there on a sunny sunday .....bless keep up the good work
Lovely pub, great food, nice setting. Well worth a meal here, service was excellent.
Unwelcoming, unfriendly and expensive. Thought it would be a good place for the grandkids but small, ageing, play area without a fence so kids have open access to the car park. Also, no kids menu if you’re sitting outside watching your kids, no lemonade available outside and half the things on the menu weren’t actually available when you actually went to place an order. Food was mediocre at best and considering the price, (£8.50 for just 5 breaded cod sticks and NO chips, that’s an extra £2.50), was vastly overpriced. Staff were abrupt and unhelpful, got the impression they weren’t very content. Definitely not recommended and certainly won’t be back.
Had lunch here the menu had a great choice. The whitebait was excellent the best I ever eaten. The staff helpful and friendly.
The Mayflower can get really busy and quite rightly so.A great location just opposite the Lymington Marina and Sailing Club and just across the river to the Isle of Wight Ferry to Yarmouth. We stopped for a night cap, having not visited in many years, when I lived in the "Lovely Lymington".The Mayflower was just as lovely as I remembered, actually, I think even more so.The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The ambience relaxing and it offers a peaceful evening, well, at least on the Sunday evening when we dropped in.The establishment was very clean and tidy, wonderfully clean loos, with lovely decor and just the right atmosphere for an intimate evening of wining and dining with a loved one, or with good friends. The only "down side" at the time of visiting, was there was no lighting in the back garden that I once remembered to be really nice, so we werent able to enjoy just sitting out under the stars and listening to the sound of the boats and that wonderful clinking sound that they make in the Marina. However, Im sure this is only temporary, so I will be sure to revisit The Mayflower very soon and look forward to tasting one of their delicious meals from their menu and enjoying their garden once again of an evening.Thank you Mayflower.
Loved it. Chilled out with great service and food. Excellent pub garden with play area for a 5 year old and puppy. Dogs welcome. If it didnt take me 2.5 hours to get there (on the way to a beach breakI would go there more often.
What a great place. Location has some lovely views and a shirt walk from Central Lymington.Wonderful room, amazing bathroom. Friendly service and atmosphere. Loads of Breakfast and we had a great evening meal too. Lots yo love about this hotel/pub. Thank you for your hospitality
It seemed like an okay sort of a pub. The portion sizes were a little less than Id expected for the price, but the food itself was nice enough once it arrived. The staff were all very pleasant and hard-working, but Im just not sure that there were enough of them.
Great staff and friendly atmosphere. Food and drinks reasonably priced and very tasty.
Vegetable soup was a hole tin of plumbed tomatoes & a few chopped up carrot...Vegetable soup should be .potatoes, carrot, celery, onion sweed ....????But I may be old fashioned & soup has got a make over ....I dont like tomatoes ...Other then thatBeautiful pub , lovely staff great fish & chips by what I saw . . Think ill have that next time ...
Not good ! Expensive prices for very small food portions eg chips and sandwiches.Have been happy here in the past , so surprised. Perhaps staff shortages play a part , but we were put off returning.
Looking for a dog friendly pub we decided to give The Mayflower a try and popped by for a quick drink with my husband and our little dog. The pub was quiet and felt really cozy and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back.
Our Christmas dinner was amazing, everything we could of wished for. Also came a couple of days earlier and had the garlic chilli prawns and mackerel pate which was also excellent and a great dog friendly pub
We took a very short break here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The venue was quiet but this is clearly due to the governments response to Covid and not because of the venue itself. Our room was perfect, bay window, bath in the room, coffee machine, party sized bed, absolutely spotless, likewise the en-suite. Everything kept to a very high standard. Nice selection of teas and coffees in the room with a real treat - fresh milk. Plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. The usual facilities were found in room, iron (and ironing board), fan and heater. Our room was single glazed and a little cool, unsurprising due to the time of year and frankly double glazing would spoil the room. I would also have preferred slightly more supportive pillows but thats a minor niggle.Considering how quiet the venue was because of the government restrictions we were surprised at the wide choice for evening meal. I had a lovely piece of venison and my wife took the haddock. Wine was a little expensive and my garnish was a little under seasoned but neither spoiled the meal which was really first class. The bill included a discretionary service charge - which we paid but I dont like these, Id much prefer to tip. There was a good choice for breakfast and the food was very well presented but this time our beans were a little cool. Taken as a whole though breakfast was great.Which leaves me to mention the staff. Excellent all round, attentive, courteous, friendly and helpful. From the evening staff when we checked in to the lovely lady who served us at breakfast. We even got a hello from the chef. First class. Will we be going back? Yes and well be staying for longer the next time.
Had a lovely meal here a couple of months ago and thought we’d try it again today. I had the fish pie again and, although it was very tasty, I’m sure it was half the size it was previously so I wouldn’t choose it again. My husband enjoyed his meal but I left still feeling a little hungry. Having said that, the service was good and it’s a nice place to eat.
Terry and his team are so friendly & welcoming.Top to bottom a great stay.Ample parking, quick and easy check in, the room was clean and spacious with a big bed soft duvet lots of pillows, Nespresso machine and jar of sweets. The well appointed bathroom had a lovely roll top bath and walk in shower both with great water pressure and fluffy towels. Dinner was first class, steaks cooked to perfection, and real comfort food deserts. Finally breakfast was just as good. We’ll be back soon.
Very pleasant surroundings. Plenty of space to park..large seating areas with good space between the tables and a large bar area. Friendly greeeting and good service. Food really enjoyable and sensibly priced for the area. Worth a visit.
All good except the price.. £15 for a burger and skinny fries and limp salad.. Ive had better food for half the price. This event triggered a conversation about the covid rebound and how to fund struggling business. Got the feeling the price was inflated because of the struggles they have no doubt faced.. but then added another surcharge because we were a larger group (10 peoplewhich just made us feel they were pushing it a bit too far.. other than than service was good and had a nice early October sunny cider..
Nice place, we very much enjoyed our overnight stay with our pooch. Food was very good, service a little slow at times. The room we had was mostly great with a lovely bathroom. However much of the furniture is damaged and looking tired. Room was cold on arrival as the radiator was off, perhaps they could turn them on prior to guests arriving? The fact all of the original leaded windows are bowing inwards with an actual gap in one letting in a draft didnt help.. I think we expected a little more given the price.
We use the Mayflower regularly gor our business arrangements and we cant fault them in any way. The manager and his team are always very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble the food is excellent on the menu or by special order of buffet the rooms are great value to thank you for a trusted service
Reasonably priced dog friendly pub.Food was hot when served.Whitebait was very good as a starter. Dont go for the steak and ale suet pudding - this not what was served. Not a great deal of meat.Overall a decent venue for a group event.
We had an unplanned Sunday lunch for two adults after a walk and pound the marina. We both had the Sunday roast and could find no fault at all with the meal. The beef was rare, as described on the menu, and the pork belly was perfect with the most delicious crackling. All the vegetables were perfectly cooked and the portions were just right. The table service was good and we will definitely recommend to our friends.
Staff were 5 stars, lovely waitresses. Food was average, nothing special. We ordered a starter and a main. The main came out within 5 minutes of the starter so it all felt a bit rushed. It was dark when we ate there but the gardens looked lovely.
What a taste-tactic time! Where to begin on my visit to the Mayflower? I was greeted by a barman named Rowan, and for what he lacked in height, he made up for in charm, wit and a cheeky smile that really brightened my day (no small feat as I had just suffered a 3 figure loss from online gambling a few minutes before walking in). The food was excellent and the service was quick and polite. If there was one thing I would change though, it would definitely be the soundtrack. I listened attentively throughout my stay and not once was "The Flood" by Take That played. Hearing this really would of made my lunch perfect. In lieu of this, I would of accepted "Rule The World."
Lovely inside and out but they had an issue with the ticket machine in the kitchen so they didnt get our order. Once they realised the fault, they spoke to us and apoligised and offered us some flat bread and olives to have while we waited. One of our friends had a gluten free allergy so they kindly brought out a gluten free option for her but forgot to then bring anything out for us 🤔. It was yummy but pricey for what we received. My roast beef had a lot of fat on it so slightly disappointed.
The pub was fully booked for the tables inside, but there were plenty of tables outside. Unfortunately the outside heaters were not working. But they do have a sign that says they have blankets or a hot water bottle if you are cold. However when we asked, they said they didnt have any blankets. Then someone else asked and they were given one?? They also have an online booking system which is quite easy to use, but for some reason it didnt allow me to order food, only drinks. I ordered at the bar and the staff were attentive and helpful. We ordered the burgers and they are the BEST burgers I have eaten in a very long time! This is a good pub, a bit pricey (probably because of the wealthy people who have second homes locallyover £11 for 2 beers. The Beavertown Neck Oil was quite enjoyable though.
Very poor for the money !!! The bed needs a new mattress old and noisy it kept us awake !!! Noise outside of the window from the extractor fan from the kitchen !!! Was advised to book a table in their restaurant as they get very busy, so we did. When we were given menu they had taken off all the starters and puddings was only ice-cream! leaving hardly any choice and no time time look for anywhere else to eat. NOT Recommended !!!
Lovely big pub. Food not worth the money. Had the Crab Mac & Cheese. It was lacking any sign of crab meat? For £16.50 would have expected a crab claw or something? Service was generic, had to wait on the bar tender to put away glasses and train obviously new staff in how to stack the dirty ones.Won’t return. Recommend Yacht Haven restaurant down the road. They look out for their clients.
A nice pub, good food but a bit pricey. Great choice drinks. I dont like the fact that you have to order & pay on line.I wont eat there for that reason. I believe that if I give my custom to someone, then I expect to be served properly, by a person. Not via a computer.
This place is lovely in the sunshine. Sat outside on Saturday and the kids played in the kids area. While us adults chatted away. The food was tasty and good service provided. You do have to download an app though. And you also have to pre-book. The staff were friendly and helpful. The inside is spacious and so is the outside. The toilets were clean. A really lovely afternoon and evening out.
The family had da delicious lunch here. Food took a little bit longer to arrive, but it was worth it. The suet pie (picturedwas super crumbly and the gravy delicious. Would also recommend the crab Mac and cheese, superb. Pub has its own free parking if you can get a space, but is also right next to a large car park for the mariner. This is restaurant class dining rather than pub grub, so prices reflect that. recommended.
What a great experience staying here at The Mayflower. Accommodation. Highly recommend room 3. Big, very clean and comfortable bedding. Great room for a pub. The pub has an incredible beer garden. Outstanding in the summer. Well spaced out and dog friendlyFood. Very good quality all round. Great breakfast options for those staying. All cooked well, fresh and most importantly deliciousStaff. Last but not least the staff were simply brilliant. Friendly, attentive and all genuine. These are all people who genuinely care about their job and this place. Its unfortunately not so common these days so greatly appreciated.Overall a brilliant stay in a lovely little location. Dog friendly rooms and pub dont get much better than this.
