Western Concourse, Brighton Marina 7, Brighton BN2 5WD, United Kingdom, San Marino
British fare, including Sunday roasts, in a quaint venue with wood beams & brick walls.
This is such a great place in the middle of Brighton Marina with excellent view, friendly staff and fresh beer.
The bartender from Brighton makes the BEST Pimms🥰
Very nice venue, welcoming and really friendly staff, good pub grub fairly priced.I would have given them 5 stars, but the fact that they have a cocktail list but then turns out they havent got the faintest idea of how to make one (but will still charge £8 for a beverage that doesnt look or taste like cocktail you ordered made me take one star off.Sorry, I try to be as impartial as posible and write my experience as it was.I would definitely go back. But Ill stick to wine next time!
Nice quiet pub just off the main square. Unfortunately their beer prices are now expensive - menu selection is reasonable but again prices high. Great shame.
Very pleasant pub.the food was good .we used it as a family meeting point.
Visited midweek for lunch. The pub is slightly tucked away but is easy to find. It looks older than it is and has a large interior and a nice outside seating area overlooking the marina. The service was generally good but there was a long wait for the food to arrive. The pub wasnt particularly busy so I dont know how they manage during busy periods. The food was good and reasonably priced. They only have one ale on tap and this was off on the day of our visit. So I had to drink the American pale ale which wasnt too bad. The pub is dog friendly with water bowls outside. Overall a nice place to stop but be prepared to wait for your food.
Great welcome and helpful staff, dog friendly and good food! Go make the effort to find this hidden gem
Lovey place to sit & chill the bar staff are very pleasant and kind.
Good lunch stop after a long walk along the Prom. Dog friendly. Be warned, “small plates” are enough for one person’s lunch!
Amazing Lunch in a quiet spot by the marina in Brighton, staff were very helpful and friendly and food was very yummy and well presented. Would highly recommend for a bite to eat or for a leisurely drink inside or out.
Nice location in the Marina jood food served friendly staff.
Lovely atmosphere, great food and reasonably priced. Also has live bands. Highly recommended
Holds a bootfair on top level of Marina carpark lovely views from there lots of shops to the left of the car park well worth a trip
Great staff great food, brilliant live music, make sure you check out the live dates!!
Lovely place but the roast dinner was awful. Rock solid piece of carrott. Slithers of fatty lamb. Burnt roast potatoes swimming in oil hidden under the the typical large cold Yorkshire to fill up the plate. We paid £17 each and this is not the only place that is cutting corners on meals. We have now decided to avoid Sunday roasts from now on and do our own.
Excellent setting overlooking the marina, outside seating & dogs are welcome inside & outGood choice on menusBurgers were very niceReasonably pricedStaff were very friendlyThe toilets were upstairs didnt use them so didnt see themIf we are ever back this way we will use the Master Mariner again
Great little local proper pub. Tried the roast dinners today and they were great. And always fantastic friendly staff.
had a pint of Kronenbourg with my daughter this evening, it tasted like old slops had been poured into the barrel. I very rarely leave a pint unfinished. I was continually burping and left nearly half of it
Popped in Wednesday 20th April must say food was delicious never had a ceaser salad like 👍very friendly man at the bar could not of been more welcoming will definitely go back and would highly recommend this pub .
Lovely view, food came fast and not bad (I ordered a burger with fries and nachos)Friendly with dogs, affordable prices as well. Definitely recommend! )))
Lovely lunch at the Master Mariner. Friendly and helpful staff made sure that all four of us got meals to suit us. Huge Sunday roasts (one beef and one veganand generous sides for me and my granddaughter..Very nice to sit by the marina, away from bustle and traffic.
we couldn’t of asked for better , we didn’t book and had children with us, we popped in on the off chance they may have a table and i can honestly say we’ve never been more welcomed (mother’s dayanywhere we’ve been we went and found a table got to walk around and look at the most fabulous decor , we ordered food that was absolutely fantastic the staff are friendly and couldn’t help enough it was really lovely chatting to the owner Loui about the pub itself and it’s a stunning locationall in all i would highly recommend for food , atmosphere, friendly staff, children and dogs welcome
Extremely poor customer service. Waited 40 minutes for our food only to be told rudely by a member of the waiting staff that it was wasnt ready and they hadnt started due to a mix-up. No apology and no indication when food might arrive - appalling level of customer service resulted in our party deciding to leave. Nice pub in a good location let down by rude, bad attitude of waiting staff.
I was recommended by a friend to visit and I must say that I am ever so glad that I did. Lovely pub with great food ! I myself would highly recommend everyone to go and take a trip
I attended a wake here recently & Sadly my experience wasnt great. There was an extremely large party of us & I can speak for many on the unwelcoming greeting on arrival . We were slightly early and all locked out which was worrying as it was after 3 and unusual for a pub be closed.Unprepared understaffed unfriendly staff.after a very sad occasion wasnt a great experience.
Do not go here if you want food. Went for a booked Sunday roast beef lunch. After 35 minutes no food, complained as others arriving after us had received food. Advised wouldnt be long. After 50 minutes still no food. Complained again. Advised "it happens". Very few in pub. Got refund and left. Will not return.
If you are looking for a cold pub where the staff and atmosphere are the same. Then this is the place for you. We popped in last sunday. It was a cold day. All the fires were not running. Staff not friendly. Will not be back. Shame in the right hands could be a great pub.
What a great find while we were at Brighton Marina! Beautiful pub with wood fire, lots of space and comfy spots as well as lovely staff. We ordered 6 small plates the portions were great, delicious mac n cheese, chicken wings, and fish goujons. The best dish was the croque madame, it was one of the best I have ever had (we ordered 2)If we didnt have other plans we would have stayed here drinking most of the day. We will definitely be coming back, thank you so much, always great finding a lovely pub!
First time I have dined in the master Mariner and I found the staff friendly and helpful. The starters at £8 seemed like they were steep but portion sizes are good so the value is there, other restaurants would call them sharing plates. Good range of beers and all good quality.
Very sadly appalling. Staff obviously new dinnt know the drink they sold many items not available. But no indication. Food was OK (Roastbut waited 15mins for mint sauce / mustard. Feel for them Sunday before Xmas place was empty.
Busy for a Sunday lunch but we found a table. Roast was ok. Nice gravy and the cauliflower cheese (£4.50 extrawas excellent. The pigs in blankets (£4.50 extrawere terrible. I cant believe.you can actually buy sausages that cheap, change them up they really let the whole meal down and is the main reason for the 3 stars. Lamb was gristly, potatoes werent crunchy and the Yorkshire wasnt great. Few tweaks and you could have a good product, so close yet so far.
Love the food, good traditional pub. Never been too noisy. Allow dogs! 🐾 Pretty much my perfect pub! 😁
Pricey and a tad scruffy.Could look a lot better with a bit of care externally. Was ok sitting outside.Food has a good rep.but just had a few beers .Staff friendly enough
Hadn’t been here for years, but it was Sunday, we were passing and we were hungry, so we thought we’d stop by for lunch. Extremely glad we did! Absolutely cracking Sunday roast. A proper decent feed. Add to that a gentleman of a host and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We’ll be back for sure 👍🏼
Ended up here unexpectedly but wow what a lovely surprise. Food was gorgeous, service good too. Recommend this pub. Great Sunday roast.
As per usual, a great visit to this pub. If you cant go abroad, I highly recommend to pay it a visit one sunny day: sitting next to the boats, in a secluded area it feels like the coast of Spain. On not sunny days, the interior is cozy and the fire is on. Either way a great place to visit. Great chips too!
Ale battered haddock goujon door step sandwich with beautiful chips was amazing washed down with a few pints of lager!! Fabulous place
Everytime i have visited brighton i have come to this pub. But i have to say when i visited 2 weeks ago i was highly disappointed. After queing for half an hour for a drink i finally got to the bar to order i gave the barman my order ( Pint of beer, Bacardi and coke a orange juice and a coke and a large glass of winewhen the drinks arrived they all turned up in carboard cups that looked like the cups you get in McDonalds for a milkshake. I asked the barman why have i got these cups and he replied because we have not got any glasses. When i have looked at the other end of the bar half the bar was filled with dirty glasses that had not been washed. I ended up pating £25 for our drinks to be in these grubby cardboard cups. On top of that the barman was very rude and satcastic to me which upset the rest of my day visiting brighton. I did not get his name but he sounded south african. When i come out of the pub all the other customers had proper glasses. I can honestly say myself and my family will not be returning to this establishment.
Lovely location, was really busy for Sunday Roast but we got served within a decent time. Food was great, I just felt like there wasn’t a lot of choices for mains, especially veggie options but I get that on Sunday it’s quite common. Great staff 👍🏻
Party of 8 on Friday night, all booking details correct, but limited tables for dining at. Staff friendly and helpful, manager present to check all ok with customers.Food is basic pub grub, but honest, hot and plenty of it at reasonable prices - for the Marina.Live music kicked off after 9pm, but plenty of outdoor tables if thats not your thingWould recommend and happy to go back myself
I’m the local resident of marina . Was very excited about the new ownership of the near by pub. So we decided to give a try . We book a table for today to celebrate Father’s Day . Arrived at about 4pm . The staff told us that is table service . So we got the menu and just sitting and waiting for someone coming to take order from us . We was really hungry . Been twice to ask the waiter coming to take a order from us but still no one came after 45mins . I can see there are people came after us are already been served . So I when to the bar and ask again. The waiter want to just take a order from us but the lady at the bar told the waiter and i that there is no more Sunday roast available . ☹️ And the waiter couldn’t even find any normal menu to show us . In the end we got so upset and just left . Not sure if we ever want to go back give another try ....really disappointed.
Would be 1 star but the food itself was actually really nice, so complements to the chefs, however the service was awful. 45mins for drinks, over an hour to get our meal, another 20mins to get the gravy (by which time the food had gone coldand generally unsatisfied with the attitude of the landlord. I understand that the place was fairly busy (there were empty tables so wasnt at full capacitybut being told they were "overwhelmed" shouldnt be the customers problem. Especially as the landlord spent an hour eating a meal Infront of us while we waited for our food. More staff needed as the 2 lads clearly couldnt cope and the attitude of the landlord needs to change.
Its a lovely pub in a great location. My family and i came here on a whim for a where i bought a pint of Beavertowns: Gamma Ray; the outside seating area is lovely and the interior decor has a great rustic feel to it. The young bar maid was nice if not, sadly, a little slow but again she was pleasant. Its a bit pricey which ie to be expected considering the local and sadly the toilets really need a refurb as there are bits hanging off and holes here and there. Other than that i will be back for a pint of two.
We loved this quaint, cosy and historic pub (pets welcomenestled in the marina. I loved the smell of smoke fires as I entered. The food was very well presented, very fresh and enjoyable. Friends commented on the amazing, soft jacket potato, the Hunters Chicken and I enjoyed Scampi and the side salad. Also, the staff were very friendly and the service was great. When we thought wed lost keys, staff were helpful in taking down details. It was a bonus that we won £10 on the pub quiz machine so we all left with a very good taste in our mouth (in more ways that one). Thanks to all the staff who made the night a memorable one. You were awesome. We will definitely aim to come back next time we are in Brighton.PS: And we found the keys later, thanks. :)
Sunday Roast was incredible. Liv the barmaid was absolutely fantastic and was really helpful. So impressed we have decided to hire the function room.
Staff were amazing. Very attentive and nothing too much trouble. Beautiful cakes and pastries by Casper.
We ate here out of season so it was very quiet. The food was really good and the service was quick. Overall a very good experience, recommended.
Excellent pub, great location. Very good food, lovely staff. A+++++
Friendly, quite quiet, older clientele during the day. Big screen telly available, good pub food. Parking a bit awkward in the Marina.
Great atmosphere. Especially with the log fire it is super cosy. Thursday nights are awesome with the 1940s themed bands. I love the table candles which are in each table, the candles are in old liquor bottles. Favorite hearty meal is the sausage and mash! I love Mash potato! A good cosy pub.
