Slick, contemporary bar and steak restaurant with booths, banquettes and an open kitchen.
I was in the area for work and visited The Marlow. The food was nice but as I was alone I was put in a corner on my own and felt separate from all the other customers, not that much of an issue but I did feel a bit out of place. Greg the server was really professional, polite and methodical. He really put the effort into making sure I was looked after and if my business was closer I would definitely employee him so, The Marlow you need to look after him. It was busy for a Monday so that says a lot. Well done everyone and thank you.
I had booked this for my birthday lunch with my family and it was a very disappointing visit. I have been to the restaurant bar and grill in Leeds so had high hopes.EDIT 07/11/22We went back to Marlow Bar & Grill after our last visit after a courtesy call from management and this time the service and food was much better. We didnt make it easy for them either as we were a table of 4 adults, 2 young children and 2 babies so it was pretty chaotic. Kids orders were taken rapidly, colouring was offered, and a lot of attention from the staff. At one point, a glass was smashed and the staff attended to it very quickly.
Good food (we both had steak.Service was very good as well.
Lovely restaurant, friendly staff, massive menu and delicious food. This was an excellent choice for a recent family meal to celebrate a special occassion.
Delicious food. Very nice host and waiters.Beautiful seating indoors with lights and music. You can sit inside the restaurant and through the back doors is an "outdoor" area with heaters.Toilets are upstairs. If youre over 6", mind your head!Bar is also available inside.Food and drinks are a bit on the expensive side and you do get charged the 12.5% service charge. However! - the food is absolutely incredible.10/10 will come back.
Loved everything about the restaurant. The beautiful outside seating area is magical. The food, the music ,the lighting and the staff all make a night to remember.
Delicious food, perfectly cooked, and whether in the main restaurant or the orangery at the rear, the feel of the place is superb too. Not cheap, certainly not, but very much in-keeping with the food and drink quality, and friendly, attentive service. Slightly limited Vegan menu for a friend by all accounts, but other than that pretty flawless.
Went in for a Sunday roast. Perfect beef and the carrots were perfect. Could have done with one or two more roasts though but I am a bit of a roast potato monster. The service was great. Never felt harassed and all the staff were friendly. Got offered extra gravy when they noticed I was running short.Highly recommended.
Nice setting but food and service left a lot to be desired. Food was luke warm and service was cold. Not a good combo.
Once again, a lovely meal. Early dinner this time but fab service, great food and a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Wonderful venison and the sticky toffee pudding. Service was excellent.
One of the Best Caramel lattes and Coffee I have tried Wow.Service was fab too. Thanks so much, certainly will be taking another visit there soon.🥰🥰😋
The Marlow Bat & Grill is s run by a fabulous team serving wonderful food and wine.
Nice place to have lunch with friends over some champagne .Short summaryAtmosphere - glamorous but welcomingStaff and management - friendly and helpfulKid friendly - has a good kids menuMenu and range selection - something for everyoneRecommend to friends and family - yesCleanliness - yesNote - somewhere for special occasions as a bit expensive
Have only visited for lunch over many years. Friday night dinner was pretty busy and noisy. The food...chicken souvlaki and crispy duck were excellent. We shared a choc brownie equally good.Attentive, efficient service.
The food was great and the service was even better. The team we’re on the ball and we were very well looked after! Highly recommend!
Fantastic service from friendly and welcoming staff. Food was superb. Really first class restaurant.
Popped in unbooked for lunch. Seated straight away in comfortable well laid out outdoor section. Retracting roof for weather. Very nice food. Not too pricey.
Third time tried and that was the best visit so far . Busy Saturday evening , good music , attentive staff and yummy food ! What else can you ask for ? Can’t recommend enough ! Thank you to fantastic young lady who serve us Robyn and Manager Pavel . You made our evening . We will be back !
Came here with my friends yesterday and was pretty shocked by the attitude and standard of service. Think that because we were a young group of girls (all between 23/25that it was pretty obvious that we were looked down upon and not made to feel welcome. When we asked for additional drinks we found ourselves having to apologise because of how unfriendly the staff were. The only lady that didn’t make us feel that because we didn’t come in as a group of 40 year olds in chinos we shouldn’t have been there was the one that welcomed us by the till when we came in. Other than that, considering that we all got a few drinks and a couple of us got food we felt pretty unwelcome and a bit let down that this was my friends first time to marlow. Also the food came out before the drinks or tap water on a hot day.Such a nice seating area outside that it’s a shame the service let it down.
My family have been going to this restaurant for a number of years now and previously always enjoyed the food. We noticed the service had deteriorated somewhat the last few times but gave it another try this weekend. Unfortunately things have got worse. Although our mixed Asian platter starter was great and was delivered quickly, it then took almost 90 minutes for our mains to arrive. When they did arrive, two of the dishes were of such poor quality (E.g. burnt burger; dry ricewe had to send them back. We did get a genuine apology and items removed from the bill which was appreciated but this restaurant really needs to sort out its staffing and quality issues. Unfortunately we won’t be going back.
We walked in on busy Saturday evening . Great atmosphere , delicious steaks and very efficient service . Thanks for accommodating us. We will be back
An enjoyable evening. Unfortunately a blip with one meal but resolved immediately, efficiently, politely and satisfactorily. Without the issue a 5, but without the exemplary resolution would have been much less. Not the place for a quiet family meal. A great place to go for a lively, professionally managed, evening.
We was in Crown Plaza and at 8 and half pm impossible to order or have any decent food (lost 1h waiting for nothing), so we take a taxi (no uber was accepting the drive because it was too short I guessand we was there around 9 and half pm. Luckily we have been able to eat there some ribs and burgers 🍔 and we was happy to have a dinner there, service was nice and fast, food was good and ambiance was a lil noisy but thats how it is in very busy place Saturday night ! Definitely a place to go !
Really nice food, took a while to get our food, but overall good service and friendly staff
I love the theming of the Marlow Bar and Grill, especially the back conservatory. The roof opens on the seating area, making the restaurant a great place for indoor and outdoor seating. However, the food on my last trip just didnt quite meet my expectations, i had the squid and truffle fries and my partner had the burger, nothing wrong with either, just felt like chain pub food. Ive had better food here before. I wish the menu was more paired down and more focus was added to food quality. Then food could match the amazing setting.
Great cocktails, smart venue and good bar service
We have dined at MBG for over 10 years. This latest visit was a real disappointment. Service was excellent, as usual, but the quality and presentation of the food was very poor, which is very unusual. We hope their standards have not declined, but this visit was a real disappointment. Poor quality ingredients, very little flavour and looked like no care taken in presentation. Such a disappointment.
Superb lunch with friends while on a visit to this wonderful town.Wide menu something for everyone. Had the roast chicken with all trimmings including Yorkshire pudding and excellent gravy. Staff and overall service was top notch.
Went for dinner with some friends. The new decor is nice and staff friendly. However, given its very hefty price tag, service was poor. We waited over an hour for our starter to arrive. Mine was very nice but my friends looked like it was the chopped up dregs of the last of the sashimi. Our mains arrived much later. The steaks were mainly lovely but accompanying sauce (bearnaisewas cold. My friend asked for a medium-well done steak and it was very rare so she couldnt eat it. We received no apology for the delayed food or inedible steak (that had cost almost £30 without sides). Bill for drinks and 2 courses was over £85 per head and took over 3.5 hours. Will not be rushing back despite the nicer food. We could have gone to the Michelin star coach down the road for less and better service.
I went to Marlow bar and grill yesterday with my son and partner for a birthday treat. I have to say it was the best meal I had had in a long while, plenty of goid foid to choose from. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. The ambience of the place was just right, as though busy it was not noisy and seating seemed to be placed so that the table near you did not ruin your own enjoyment by being able to hear other dinners. Also seemed to be no WiFi, so you have to talk to each other, which was lovely.
Very poor food, not fresh at all. The Carbonara was clearly cooked a day or two before and reheated in microwave as the sauce had a hard film on top. Meat was dry and over cooked. The duck clearly wasnt cooked fresh. I saw trays of cooked steak and chicken under heat lamps just going dry. Nothing tasted fresh. Very disappointing and not restaurant quality. Even worse was the staff sitting at table next to us eating in front of guests. This is very unprofessional and not the behaviour of a quality restaurant. Staff could have eaten in staff room or back of restaurant away from guests, not in full view next to paying customers. Avoid this place there is much better further up the High Street.
Looks lovely from the outside, however I am not sure quite what restaurant this is trying to be. The menu is varied which may be part of the problem. The pictures below show the food presentation which was disappointing. My tomatoes should probably not have made out out of the kitchen let alone on to my plate, they were clearly past their best and the pitta bread was covered in honey. The salmon salad was very chunky for want of a better word. Disappointing overall. I did make the waitress aware of my issues, she was very apologetic and said she would let the chef know. I cant believe this was the kitchens best work and if it was, a serious rethink is required.
First time there since it reopened. Originally went there 3-years ago food was amazing.Turned up today at 12:25 for our table at 12:30. We were asked to wait and then the owner/manager insisted on the front of house sort out another table and someone outside, leaving us just standing there. No apology very rude actually.Table wasn’t even ready.Food was average at best. They gave us 4 different menus, ridiculous. I had a chicken skewer which consisted of 3 bits of chicken and the rest was halloumi which was really salty, the menu didn’t say chicken and halloumi skewer.Best thing about the whole experience was the waitress who took our orders from the 4 different menus. For the attitude of the two ladies and the less than average food, will not be returning. Will definitely go the Ivy next time.My 1 star is for the waitress who deserves 5.
Food was fine but overpriced. Service was poor, had to ask for the waiters to serve us multiple times. They also seated us (with my heavily pregnant wifeat the back of the restaurant which was cold as the patio heaters they use didnt reach the table. We spoke to the staff and they offered no alternative (e.g moving table). Wouldnt recommend when there are many better places in that area.
1st time here and cannot say enough about the place. Staff excellent, food excellent and environment spot on.
Three of us had a late lunch here, one Monday. I had pre-booked a table in the front cosy area, opposite the bar, which has 4 different sized tables. Its a really attractive, spacious restaurant with a large covered garden area at the rear. There are tables outside the front, for warmer days. Its a superb place to have a cocktail, or coffee and watch the world go by. Dogs are permitted outside and inside - at the front of the restaurant - and the staff kindly offer refreshing bowls of water. We each chose from the set lunch menu including starters, mains and dessert plus drinks and a bottle of wine. The total cost was £100, which was worth every penny as the food was excellent. We didnt feel rushed and the staff were friendly and professional, providing an excellent service. A marvellous place to visit.
OMDs... Food to die for.. highly recommend salmon and the Tuna peppered steak.. Dessert: Apple & blackberry, vanilla custard.. out of this world amazing!!!Great atmosphere..Professional & friendly staffLove dinning in the conservatory...
Ate here the first night i was down here, then worked in the kitchen for three days to pay it off.Only kidding I work for The company and was down helping out the team and had a great time, really nice folks 👍 😀
Another visit and delighted to see the venue has had a complete refit. Much lighter thought out and a more airy feel. Very welcoming. The tikka sea bass was gorgeous(I pinched a bit from my fellow dinerand my skewered chicken was very tasty accompanied but a very refreshing ginger ale and mint mocktail. All in all a lovely meal.
We had a beautiful meal. Rack of ribs were very tender and tasty. My husband had fish and chips which was equally as good.Great value for the money.Service was excellent. Nice friendly atmosphere right in the heart of the town.
Food was good, but when you order steak and chips you expect them to arrive at the same time, chips arrived 5 minutes after the steak. Service patchy, had to go the bar to remind about the drinks we ordered and again to ask for the bill. Wouldnt rush back there on this performance
I wasnt impressed with my main meal here. The starters tasted great, but for my main I had the carbonara which didnt taste great, not sure if it was over peppered but tasted like cleaning products. Then to top if off when I was half way through there was a hair in my meal. Iv given a 3 stars because my husband loved his main, he had the Tuna steak. And the service was very good when I told them about the hair.
Absolutely STUNNING experience last night. We were nearly an hour late as the M4 was closed and we could not have had a warmer welcome. The menu was so exciting and our starters of asparagus and king prawns were of the highest quality. I asked for assistance on the main as I couldn’t decide between the veal and tuna. The waiter without hesitation said the tuna and I’m so glad I chose it. I have never had tuna like this 😋. All the staff worked exceptionally hard and the atmosphere was amazing. For a moment it made us forget about this Covid world we’re living in. Without hesitation I highly recommend this restaurant.
Lively, bubbling atmosphere. Reasonably extensive menu covering a wide variety of styles of food. The cooking was a rather safe and conservative for my taste. An inventive selection of cocktails, and a good selection of wines by the glass. Standards of mask compliance by staff could have been better on my visit.
Great covid measures in place, good to get a discount when collecting, wide choice on the menu, food well packed and not soggy plus it all tastes great!
Sunday evening in Marlow and I decided to try this place for dinner as I had never been here before. No problem getting a table as not many people in the restaurant when I arrived. Ordered a lychee and raspberry daiquiri whilst i looked over the menu. Very nice cocktail, refreshing, great flavour combination and nicely alcoholic!I chose the butterflied chicken breast in a tomato salsa sauce, that also came with broccoli tender stems and I added a side of crushed new potatoes. Food was served promptly and very well presented. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy and the salsa sauce was wonderful, the crushed new potatoes were also very good. I had a glass of Spanish red to accompany which was an easy drinking and smooth glass of wine.I was really impressed with the quality of food here, service was also very good and attentive.
Fantastic service venue and food the Tomahawk Steak is simple and delicious and larger than enough to allow it to be shared. Check out the photo the chips were so fresh and crisp with a nice dip sauce that lets you enjoy the massive steak
Had a lovely meal here with friends sitting outside in the courtyard 12 July 2018. Food and service lovely. Wide choice ranging from hearty risotto and meat dishes to fresher salad on a summer evening. Would go back.
I had the best knickerbockerglory here that I have had in my life. All of their ice cream is made at the restaurant. The rest of the meal was delicious as well, with several of our party commenting that it was the best steak that they have ever eaten. Polite, attentive staff. Lots of seating, including an indoor/outdoor section at the rear. The only challenge is finding a parking space in Marlow!
