50 stars for the ice cold beer and clean taste5 stars for super clean toilets! Wow4 stars for large eating area and clean.4 stars for staff and efficiency (behind the bar)2 stars for lunch we ordered .. we ordered the $20 steak lunch medium.Unfortunately its was almost blue steak, chewy. Chips were great and the Diane sauce was fantastic.My wifes was the same - almost blue.I was unable to flag a staff member down to alert of my steak and didnt want to return it to the bar where there was a line up.For $20 I wont complain to much.I will eat there again.I used to go there back in the day for the $10 steak lunch and it was to die for! Time has changed and cost has gone up like anything in aust.

Good meal delivered quickly. Drinks were reasonably priced.

We dined here last night. It was VERY busy but the venue handled it well.The Duck salad was top notch, the parmy with topper from the smoker very good. We enjoyed the meal so much we booked for the next night before we left.Returned night 2, one of our choices was not available, Roy, our server apologised and comped us with a steak topper - this is exemplary service.The fillet steak and the smoked brisket, cooked to perfection and delicious.Great venue, great food, great service.

The Pork ribs were great smoked on-site and gave me a smokers cough there were that smoky.Recommend

We stayed at the motel behind the tavern so no brainer to pop in for dinner. Didnt book, and the restaurant was full so we went to the bar/pool room area, I went to the bar and was greeted by a young women who certainly needed full training on how to treat a customer. It was as though it was to much effort to serve, her attitude was short and rude...gave her the benefit of the doubt though. Ordered food which was very good 👍. When another young women brought the meals out, I asked if she could top up the coleslaw as it was half full, she grabbed it rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen. I spoke to my partner and he noticed how rude she was. Next! was a glass of wine, and in the last drop...yes a fly 🪰. Well this was the last straw. I asked to see the manager, Roy, who was fabulous and was so apologetic, in a conversation I had with him he mentioned that they found it extremely hard to find staff, I said they need to treat people as they would want to be treated and that it wasnt good enough, he agreed. On a positive, the entertainment was really good, we spoke to the lovely young guitarist/singer Sean Murphy. Talented.In short...train the staff in hospitality if they continue to treat people with disrespect, get rid of them, they dont deserve the job.

Our lunch experience today was very disappointing, we arrived as 2 families and ordered separately for the same table. The childrens lunch spaghetti bolognaise arrived and their parents soon after, chips were soggy and cold, spag bol was cold and the steak was very over cooked. Ours did not appear. After waiting patiently for a considerable time I asked the waitress when our meals might arrive. She was very polite and went immediately to find out for us. She returned to our table and said unfortunately our order had got "stuck" in the till??? If we wanted to wait they would attend to our order straight away and we could get a free drink from the bar. What could we do if we didnt want to wait??When our meals finally arrived they were hot but my marinara contained 3 prawns 3 mussels and one calamari ring, a bit disappointing for $28.00. We have been to this venue once before on a Saturday and everything was lovely, maybe Monday is not a good day for the kitchen! No complaints about the wait staff but the kitchen get a big Boo Boo

Seems like the place to go for a evening mealWe were lucky to get a seat out in the back room as the dining room was booked out.We got there about 6 pm and it just kept filling.Some people were turned away .So suggest you book.Had duck and salad but they smothered everything in sauce so couldnt really taste what you were eating.Ok but nothing to rave about

Thankyou Maraboon tavern.We visit Emerald every year for the AG-GROW bull sale and have had some very ordinary service in previous years. Understanding that most establishments are put under pressure by the huge increase in numbers and lack of staff.On arriving at the Maraboon tavern we were welcomed by friendly courteous staff whoDirected us to a table. Our meals were delivered within 20 minutes and with a smile.Nothing was to much trouble.Keep up the good work.

Very poor food, especially for the price.Went for lunch, wasnt busy. Due to some dietary requirements we asked if the salmon which was battered could be swapped out for barramundi which was Grilled, or could the salmon be Grilled instead of battered, as the green papaya salad it was served on sounded delicious. The answer was "NO".We ordered the barramundi and salad then which was very underwhelming. Salad was small and lettuce very limp. The barramundi did not taste Grilled, rather it tasted like it was one of those fish meals in a plastic bag that you microwave. Not good. We also ordered natural oysters for entrees because they did not know what the Japanese oysters on the menu were.

Very nice place to have dinner and a quiet drink prices are reasonable also theres no need to get maccas after, meaning great value for your money and a full stomach ,staff are very friendly which makes this tavern very popular in Emerald

The chicken snitch was disgusting and the salad was appalling , for $24 I did expect the salad to be a lot better than it was , there was no effort into the meal , one star for the chips .$1 for BBQ sauce , are you serious 🧐!!You guys really need to rethink your meals , try a sliced tomato and beetroot, maybe some pineapple, a proper salad .Never again , big thumbs down......

Called to order takeaway meals, was told my staff to place order online so I did. Order was placed at 12.22pm and the confirmation said it would be ready around 12.40pm - my partner went to collect it only to be sat waiting for 10 minutes before staff came out to tell him there was no Eye Fillet steak left which is fine but they had not called or made any attempt to let him know? Changed the steak. Waited until after 1.30pm to be given food, so over an hour waiting, only to get home and for both of our orders to be completely wrong. Was give seafood (dangerous if there were allergens to be concerned about??- Steak was cold. My brisket was cold, ordered with coleslaw and chips… came with a salad only, no chips and no explanation about coleslaw. Called up and was refunded, phone handed around, no one knew what had happened. Such a disappointing experience, a refund doesn’t make up for the lost 1.5 hours waiting. Asked staff on the phone how long the refund would take to process and was told “I don’t know”..

Nice travel, easily accessible in Emerald. Quite busy so seating runs out on the weekend nights. Some questionable characters in the pokies, but that’s often to be expected. The food and drinks are a tad pricey. My son loves the keno, then again, who doesn’t. Lots of nearby parking.

Now this is difficult. The place had good ratings, the vibe is good, the staff are really nice and welcoming. But the food .. was underwhelming. Maybe it was an off night, but the reef fish salad was a slab of fish deposited on a large salad, and the beef brisket was like grandmas Sunday roast that was being recycled for the third time. It was pretty disappointing, because my expectations were high. Again, I hope its a one off.

Stopping through Emerald and my husband thought it’d be a nice idea to try some of Maraboon Tavern’s smoked meat. Unfortunately we were left extremely disappointed and hungry when we left.After paying $65 for a small pork ribs and a beef brisket - we received four small and tough pieces of microwaved meat, and 3 dry pork ribs.Pork ribs are $38 for the plate, so that’s just shy of $13 per rib. They hardly had any meat on them and were very dry, saving grace was that they were drenched in smokey BBQ sauce.Beef brisket is far from the advertised 14hr smoked premium grade beef brisket. Instead 4 small rounds of piping hot meat that had been reheated in the microwave came out, with a side of chips. Completely tough and half of it was chewy fat. I couldn’t bring myself to complete the dish.Overall I’d definitely never come back, or recommend the tavern to anyone. Do yourself a favour and drive to the Commercial Hotel in Clermont or the Moranbah workers club, you get your moneys worth and a million times better food and service.

Absolutely brilliantly prepared Rib Eye fillet which was shared with my partner. Best tasting piece of prime steak that we have experienced in a while. Must say that we were very pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere of the hotel for a Queensland Central Highlands country location. Went to the drive through on Tuesday afternoon to buy some drinks only to be refused service as I had my daughter in the car !!! I always have my daughter with me & his explanation was that I could be buying the alcohol for her. How absurd is that , my husband often goes through with our daughter in the car & this has never happened. Such a joke, will be going out of my way in future to buy from the other pubs in town I think, nor will we be back for family dinners & meet ups with friends. I was very insulted by this “kid” who was assuming that I was the type of parent who would allow my daughter to drink alcohol.

Really disappointed in the customer service we received last night (Sunday). Greeted at the front desk the lady their was lovely so she seated us it was 8pm we were looking at the menu when we were told by staff member “ Hurry up & order as the Chef wants to clock off” So we ordered our 2 meals to then have 2 staff members hovering whilst we ate. I mean glancing standing not even 2 metres away, which was uncomfortable. Certainly felt we have to rush the meal but as soon as one of us put our knife down like seagulls swooped in for the plate knocked it into the person sitting there. The dirty looks from a kiwi lady -staff (apologies if I have that wrong.. Really horrible & terrible customer service. Would have been better to not serve us if it was an inconvenience then to have experienced this. Rather spend the $$$ elsewhere & made to feel welcomed.

Hands down the Best Food & restaurant in Town! The portion sizes are amazing & great vaule for money! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We bring all of our family who visit here to eat, the atmosphere is great family friendly, relaxed, clean and welcoming. The staff are kind & friendly everytime, there is a play ground for kids to play on outside while you are waiting for food, each time we have ordered the food has come out in 15mins or so, thats fast service for me in my book especially for the portion sizes. All in all 10/10

The portion sizes were awesome. I highly recommend the bao buns, chicken crispy noodle salad and sweet potato wedges. The food is amazing, one of the best restaurants I have ever visited

The public bar has a large TV, but the noise in the room can make it hard to hear. The back bar/bistro is a good place to take a family. The meals are good quality and reasonably priced. There are only a few beers on tap, but a large range of bottled beer. The wine selection is about average. This place is popular, so table bookings are essential for groups.

We always stop in here for lunch when were in Emerald for the day. Great modern facilities with good food. Last time we were there though, some more bar staff would have come in handy due to being quite busy. Recommend the pork ribs from their in house smoker.

My wife and I had a delicious dinner at the Maraboon Tavern tonight and we brought a group of friends. This is our second time here and wont be our last. We had a great time. We especially enjoyed the service from one particular staff member, a young NZ man named Tough. Excellent customer service. He served us last time we were in town with his great welcoming smile and he convinced us to return and bring all of your friends. SO WE DID 👍🏾 we were lucky enough to meet again. Thankyou Maraboon Tavern for the great food and our excellent NZ man Tough.

We had been travelling for over a week and this was the best meal we had had by far! Absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the beer was cold. What else could you ask for? Do yourself a favour and pay them a visit!

Good pub. Always busy in any night of the week.The bistro has great food, good sized servings and reasonably priced. The chook spring rolls pictured were great.The motel rooms are large, quiet, quality linen and well equipped. You can charge back from the pub or the restaurant.Cant beat the location either.
