Sizable museum with exhibits on planetary & human history, with bones, dioramas & a planetarium.
A lot of things to explore. At least one day is necessary.
Took my four year old little man. It was his first time! He loved it and good memories made.
Extensive! Incredible natural history with human history woven into its main gallery exhibit. A bit of a maze. The Nonsuch ship is the best part, totally! Kids science gallery is also larger than we thot. Amphitheatre show was okay. And we’d hoped to learn way way more about Winnipeg itself (shoulda skipped all the dinosaur and rocks stuff and dove more into the Wpg exhibit. Building is looking a bit dated but there’s a big renovation being fundraised for, so better come back in a few years!
Wonderful! My kids 6 and 4 enjoyed the visit so much and the best part was my husband and I too! The exhibitions are immersive and interactive. There is a real boat! It was amazing, we spent two hours and didnt go to the planetarium. This museum is a must if youre visiting Winnipeg.
3 generations visiting. Created new memories for grand kids and relived childhood ones for grandparents. Great times were had
It was great. A lot of learning about Manitoba and indigenous people. They haven been a key part of our development
Wonderful experience. Friendly staff and amazing planetarium shows. Learned a lot from the exhibits.
Grew up in Winnipeg and have been going since elementary school. The thing I like is that even though they have long term displays they are constantly updating with new information that has been discovered. I recommend buying tickets ahead of time for the limited time displays to avoid disappointment.Always make time for the Nonsuch (not sure of spelling but its a big boatI always enjoy going there. Try and follow the story as you go through the areas! Was recently in WPG for 3 days and one of them was spent here.
My wife Valerie and I enjoyed our recent visit to the Manitoba Museum and the "hands-on" Science Museum located in the buildings basement. If youve never been there before . . . I encourage you to check it out! Theres something there for people of all ages.
The museum day is a day to remember. You can visit almost all the attractions free and its a good place to enjoy and explore with your young ones.
Has sooooo much to look at, lots and lots of interactive info on Canada and in general with many detailed exhibits that can really wow a person, some of the buttons dont work for a few exhibits but Im told they will in the future. For a solid price you can get a unlimited time walk through a solid museum with some very amazing sights that I simply cannot spoil here. You can also get a planetarium show that is very interesting for anyone, beware however, the speakers can get a little joking and I cannot confirm nor deny if they are funny or not. A science gallery also exists here filled with some really fun interactive things that relate to all common sciences. A very fun place.to check out for all ages.
Love this museum! Out of all the museums I’ve been to all over the world, it’s still one of my favourite. If you’re in Wpg, definitely a must see. They’ve greatly updated many of the displays in the past couple of years, but still maintained the charm of the museum. Love walking through it and feeling like you’re in the display. A must visit!
The museum was rather large and for a reasonable price you can explore the museum, science gallery and planetarium. The Nonsuch and the walkthrough "city" added some really neat touches that made the experience that much more fun. Loses a star because some of the interactive exhibits did not work.
Aside from the children sneezing on everything, the museum is worth the visit! Great dinosaur exhibit!
This museum is a hidden gem. I hope Peggers appreciate and learn the history as you have a rich history indeed. The museum got better as you walked along and the Nonsense ship was amazing to go aboard. The Hudson Bay stuff was cool too. I just wish I had more time to spend there. I recommend this museum for any history buff out there.
Lots to check out and learn about throughout all the exhibits available! The planetarium is a must do as well!
The Manitoba Museum - Winnipeg, Manitoba - Well maintained museum with high quality detailed exhibits featured throughout. You get great value for the cost of admission. Exhibits in the main museum provide an extensive look at the Canadian Prairies and how Manitoba was built. There was plentiful parking and no line ups during the weekday we visited. We highly recommend the visit.
Always a great place to take the kids and always a fun place to learn 😉
Such a wonderful little Winnipeg experience with quality exhibits. A very educational experience, and I would absolutely recommend visiting here, especially if you have children. The temporary exhibits and planetarium let you fine tune your experience to last as long as youd like.
Aweeesome place to spend the day. A bit of old fashioned but super informative and fun for all ages. Got to go to the planetarium too and will definitely go back to check on the other shows.
Very pricey for the family to go. if you don’t mind the cost then definitely worth the trip. Their indoor ship is quite spectacular, constructed building around it. Definitely recommend if you have a day to kill.
Small but excellent (mostlynatural history museum. Very well done and good for all ages
Excellent exhibition, they spend a lot of time to state the history! It’s meaningful to visit once at least!
there’s so much to do and the exhibits are incredible. totally recommend.
Loved the museum, especially the Dinosaurs Unleashed exhibit. My 2 year old son loved it too! Lots to see and very stroller accessible.
Kids loved it, theres a lot of things to see and for them to explore.
I was thoroughly impressed with the displays in the museum. My only complaint was that I wasnt offered a plan/map of the exhibition space and following the signage through the galleries left me at the end searching for 2 galleries I never seemed to encounter along the way. Signage needs to be improved, and make floor plans available at the entrance.
fun time exploring the museum and checking out the dinosaur exhibit
Always a great visit, but I havent been in awhile and theyve clearly updated galleries!
Had a blast with the Gondwanaland Dinosaurs. The regular galleries are amazing but even in 4+ hours could not take it all in.Would museum here again.
A very interesting and educating place to be. Learned about Manitoba History and the first nations .
Excellent. Engaging and informative exhibits on the peoples and natural history of Manitoba. Pleasantly surprised by the full-scale replica of the Nonsuch. Planetarium show was also terrific.
On July 11 we visited the museum with our 8- and 11-year old grandchildren for the first time since before the pandemic. We had renewed our senior+g’kid memberships in May, which is great value by the way. Wow! There has been a lot of updating done in the galleries during the pandemic! New planetarium show also, with indigenous astrology content, new things to do in the science gallery. The kids always love to go aboard the Nonsuch, but truly they were fully entertained by new displays throughout. The lunchroom is great too, so you can take your own snacks and water. We planned 3 hrs, but ended up extending our parking for another hour and probably could have done another! Great job, curators and all those who have been involved in the many updates! Highly recommended for adults and children alike.
Just havin an awesome day checking some and possibly new exhibits
A great place to spend time with family for solid 3 hours if all three attractions are covered.
Really cool museum 🤌🏽✨. Take my word for it. Sadly I didnt take a look of pictures there 😭💔.
A very great place to visit on a weekend! Nice historical and scientific stuff! If you’re looking to learn more about astrology and science, it’s definitely your go to place!
Great Museum to visit, has a wide range of topics from wildlife and geology to anthropology. It also has a stellarium which is great if you can catch a show.
Always a fun experience for the kids. This time we went for the Ultimate Dinosaurs exhibit, which my children loved. There was a nice balance of learning through reading, learning through interaction, and fun activities for the younger kids to participate in.
What a difference a campaign makes to rethink, refresh, and reinterpret the museum. An absolute pleasure to visit it again.
Great place to explore, does need some new updates though. To get through everything roughly took my family 3.5 hours, mind you we stopped and appreciated every piece of the museum! Wear your running shoes! Enjoy.
Realy a wonderful museum, great to go there also good for children! Learn a lot from nature and history of Manitoba!
Well kept and memorable exhibits. There are many extraordinary bits of history on display across a wide range of manitobas past, with the nonsuch and historical recreation of the city of Winnipeg being particularly immersive and grand (although there are many others as well). The only real challenge is determining the best way to progress through all of the exhibits.
One of the most amazing museums Ive been to. Im new to Canada and drive myself reading every placard about everything being exhibited. I cant believe they built part of the the museum around a full-size, sailing replica of a trading ship. If I have one complaint is that the museum is not laid out all that well (i.e. navigating through all the exhibit halls is difficult). A few areas have arrows to guide you. The entire museum needs those arrows and possibly better signage. But one trip and I learned more about Winnipeg/Manitoba/Canada and its history than Ive learned the previous 62 years of my life. Awesome!
This was a great place to go. Its filled with a ton of cool things to look at and they even added on new things from when I was last there. They even have a pirate boat that you can go into a look around . I truly loved it.
The museum was amazing. The way it has been organized to show the advancement and evolution from the beginning till now, is exceptional. Visiting this museum doesnt just amaze the kids, its thrilling to the adults as well, or exciting and engaging to all. Special mention to the voyage experience! The reason why I have 4/5 stars is for the lack of excitement factor in the space and science sections. After visiting the main museum you built in so much expectations towards the other two sections, but I m sure they will disappoint you. So spend the most time in the main museum section, I would say. Also at the reception, only the show timings of the planetarium was mentioned and not the shows in specific, this was misleading as we ended up watching a lesson on constellations instead of the movie on northern lights. Also, its better for students to get their in-person tickets as they have a student offer which was not seen in the website.
My family and I loved visiting the museum, the staff was friendly and the exhibits are amazing.
Great collection . More fun for kids at science gallery. Awesome planetarium
This is one of the best museums I have visited. Its displays are very well done with a wide variety of information. The animal displays are incredible. I learned a lot!
The staff are fun and knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. I was in Winnipeg for a visit, and hadnt been to the museum since I was a child! It was nice to see the different exhibits & relive some of my fondest memories! The interactive areas were cool too! You could really spend the better part of a day in there. Worth a visit for sure.
