The Malago - Restaurant in Bristol, United Kingdom
Delicious food great atmosphere and friendly staff, terrific value.
I just absolutely love it 😍food, drinks, service ... literally everything is perfect ❤️
Second time here for a Sunday roast and my gosh it is incredible, fantastic food and really thorough service. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!
Good food, nice ciders. Was a contrast of too warm and cold next to open door and kitchen
Service was excellent, and I dont say that very often, seating inside and out.
Amazing place for a roast on a Sunday or breakfast any day of the week. Lovely staff. My favourite place to eat in Bristol
Just the best place in Bristol. Warm welcome, lovely staff, nice atmosphere, the food is great, its not expensive (we got a FREE bottle of wineand they have good beer from Bristol Beer Factory. What more can you ask?Try the pan fried mullet w/ fennel, if thats your bag, seriously good. Veggie options were nice, too.
Had brunch here and the service was great, really child friendly too. Nice atmosphere avec looking forward to going back soon.
Tried the Sunday roast at Malago! It’s worth making a reservation before you go! Love the food and the experience there! A must for a Sunday roast! It’s a dog- friendly place as well and the price is reasonable! Along with the roast, we were given carrot soup for starters! 🙂
Lovely flavours hence 3 stars, the pork belly and lamb portion sizes were extremely small & left us hungry and the lamb was disappointing as both small slices were fatty :(Staff friendly, nice atmosphere, good glass of Malbec but we won’t be back….
Over 15mins for a drink to arrive. We gave up and left. More interested in guests eating in, rather than those just turning up for a drink.
Great food, the octopus was beautifully cooked and melt in the mouth. The drinks were tasty and the staff very friendly and attentive. Will be going back!
Can’t get over the price they charge for the extreme low standard of food and an atmosphere where the chefs all sound like they are at a party (with their separate music playing in the kitchen at the same time as the restaurant music). I couldn’t finish the chicken stuffing sandwich - absolutely disgusting. I am all for people enjoying their job but when those paying to eat can’t hear their own conversations due to chefs having a whale of a time shouting with each other. There’s enjoying your job and there’s having zero respect for those in the restaurant.
I cant rate my experience at the Malago highly enough. The staff were fantastic and welcoming and the food was delicious. I wasnt expecting fine dining but the quality of the food was some of the best Ive had in Bristol. We had the lamb and pork belly and they were sensational and beautifully presented. We sat outside under the heater and it was perfect. Thanks!
Great friendly staff. Fantastic food. Amazing quality .
Friendly service and atmosphere. Traditional English breakfast was a bit disappointing for the price with only one rasher of bacon, one sausage, a small slice of toast and no tomatoes or mushrooms :(
Great all-rounder for anything from drinks and casual meals to fancy dinners. Perfect neighbourhood restaurant
Great food, fantastic service! All you can ask for, and definitely all you would expect from North Street
Last minute booking for our NCT mums meet up. I had Bavette (beef skirt), tomato, garlic and pesto salad and chunky chips followed by key lime meringue pie and it was yummy. Also enjoyed hazelnut espresso Martini and aperol spritz cocktails. Not cheap, but not expensive. Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful and just good all around experience. Only reason not a 5 was the beef was a little chewy for me and the chips lacked a bit of flavour.
Nice place to sit and watch. attentive staff, good food, and beer. In the sunshine what else.A bit close to the junction, on a busy day a nuisance.
Best breakfast Ive had in agesOh my god. This food. I had the potato cakes. They were so delicious. The hollandaise was next level.Service was exceptional. Highly recommended.Looking at the dinner menu I bet this place is just as good for an evening meal.
Really lovely brunch, lots of yummy options to choose from - Excellent caring staff particularly Bo who could not have done more to make sure we were happy. Will definitely be back :Thank you!
Gordon would have been livid with the poached eggs - not a runny yolk in sight. Nice food otherwise, but not enough staff to deal with the number of covers efficiently. Waited a good 40 mins for food without being told of a wait. Good coffee mind.
Lovely food. Especially enjoyable watching the chefs at work, clearly enjoying what theyre doing.Excellent breakfast now as well. The best pancakes Ive had for a while, they probably dont need to give you so many but thats no rain to complain!
Probably one of the best Sunday roasters Ive tried in Bristol. After having tried breakfast and brunch there, we decided to try the Sunday roast too. We ordered the beef option which was really tasty. The beef came in 2 versions, one from the sirloin accompanied by slices of braised brisket. Both of them cooked to perfection and well seasoned. They came along a variety of yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, sweet braised red cabbage, celeriac puree, carrots, parsnips, green and cheesy leeks, as well as the usual gravy. All of them were yummy and really worthed the buzz finding a table. Totally recommended. Also try the eggs Benedict if it happens to be close by, really good.
Excellent food and service. Our evening was perfect. Great selection of veggie and fish and meat dishes. Highly recommend
Every time I have been to The Malago the service has been wonderful and the food has been fantastic.Lovely place for brunch on a sunny day and roasts!Heavily recommend
Great setting and very friendly staff but the food was very expensive and left us hungry after. £9 for 2 croquettes! The lamb was literally 3 fatty slices of meat in a ring shape. Worst lamb meal I have ever had. The desert was not much better. Rasberry artic roll was a slither of icecream with 3 rasberries on it. This was always our first choice for a xmas night out. It wont be in the future. Real shame.
Great Sunday lunch, good portions, tasty side dishes and an unexpected amuse-bouche to start! Loads of space and great service with a good wine list. Ill be back for sure, soon, hopefully!
First time visiting The Malago for a late lunch. The staff were super helpful and informative on the menu. I had my dog with me and they made a proper fuss and brought a water bowl over straight away with a treat too! Really would recommend.
Had a great brunch here. Friendly service. The vegan Ruben bagel was absolutely delicious, as was the little salad that came with it. A teensy bit on the pricey side but I understand costs are going up at the moment.
Best vegan breakfast Ive had to date. Dove in before remembering to take a pic. Absolutely delicious.
Every time we stay in southville we try and visit The Malago at least once!We came for breakfast this time and it was delicious 😋 the Sunday roast is always amazing too!
Mixed feelings have had some great meals also some pretty poor ones! Breakfasts in my opinion were a little over priced for what you get. Dinner menu is a better option with tasty small plates. Waiting times for service could be quicker.
Excellent food, service and dog friendly too! Look forward to visiting again soon!
Friendly staff and atmosphere. Good selection of beers and free water which is always a plus 😀. There always seems to be something new to see in the black and white street scene in the gents loo which is a bonus too. Havent tried the food yet but will do soon.
Great service, unreal potato cakes! Im not one to order the same thing twice but I did with these. On the pricier side for north street but the coffee is tasty, the staff are super friendly, the interior is nice, the outdoors gets lovely sunny spots and the food Ive had so far was ace. Will be back!
I keep on wanting to love this place as it is close to home, the waiters are lovely and I love local! The vegan small plates for dinner are 5*.However, been for brunch 3 times and been unimpressed with the quality:price ratio. Price is far too high for a small breakfast with average eggs, bread, mushrooms, veggie sausages etc. I wouldn’t pay £10 for this and it is far inferior to others like Spicer & Cole (where for £10 you get 2 sausages, homemade butter beans, runny eggs and thick buttery sourdough). We also had to wait 1 whole hour for brunch which I do not understand.
Nice cafe. Staff very lovely. Food was fabulous. Eggs Florentine and a good decaff coffee. Water for the table.Good clean loos too!5th star missing as it is pretty noisy if you get sat by the kitchen area.Parking can be tricky so have the Ringo App. Makes life easy.
Went here the other day, had a lovely breakfast alfresco, and beautiful coffee. It might be considered a little pricey but the quality of the service and the food was excellent so worth it. We will be back.
Went for brunch with some friends who were visiting Bristol. Menu was good, food was tasty, great value for money. Service was a little slower than we expected, but excellent on the whole, most of the waitresses we had were lovely and chatty, though one lady who brought our drinks just put the whole tray on the table and walked away, leaving us with no clue of which drink was which. Think they were quite busy so maybe thats why. Lovely atmosphere though, and would definitely visit again.
The bread could have been fresher! We enjoyed the fish & chips.
Ive always had such great experiences here, staff are always so lovely. I love the brunch menu, have yet to try their tapas menu but it is on my to do list. Great coffee and really nice space indoor and outdoor - always being friends here as its such a reliably good spot!
Amazing service guys .I like the fact that you didn’t take any notice when I was filming. The service was simply slick. Will be back next week for more coffee and beer 🍺
Managed to get a last minute table outside on a rainy night. We stayed nice and dry and the heaters kept us warm. The food was so good! Great place for vegetarians. Highly recommend the vegetarian calamari (stay with me!and the deep fried artichokes. And the sweet potato and marshmallow dessert. Plenty for non veggies too (I’m not veggie but didn’t actually order any meat!). Loveliest staff, great cocktails, defo coming back.
The best Scotch Egg Ive ever eaten. Freshly made with a spicy sausage-meat jacket and a freshly boiled egg with a softish yolk. Friendly helpful service too.
This is hard to rate. I had pheasant but it was too much meat for me. There was 3 different styles of pheasant so was a bit of an overkill for me. My friend had 3 vegan small plates and really liked them. The staff were lovely and I quite liked the little sink they had on entering that you could use your knee to press for the tap instead of hands
Staff was friendly. And in terms of safety and social distance, they nailed it. We tried the pork belly and trout starters which were nicely cooked. But there is something missing. Trout was a bit lost with the strong potato salad and pork belly needed something to cut it through.Main was octapus. The octopus it self was nice and soft. But the dish itself lacked flavour. So overall, it was nice but not worth the price and hence the 3 stars.
Really lovely meal here on the eat out to help out scheme. Staff were friendly and the food was amazing! Will definitely be coming back soon.
Called into The Malago this morning, while I was in between jobs and feeling peckish. I was greeted with a beautiful smile from the lady behind the bar, as she welcomed me in.I ordered a traditional breakfast while I sat in a window seat with the sun beating in, blissfully on my back.Looking around, there was a lively mix of young families, couples, girlfriends having breakfast and myself. My breakfast arrived in minutes, and I must say it was the best breakfast I have had in a very long time.I sat, drinking my cappuccino, with my foot tapping merrily away to Johnny Cash and other such Legends, playing in the background.I must say guys absolutely 5☆.Fantastic service - Fantastic food - Fantastic vibe...What more could a guy ask for, on a brisk and sunny February morning in Bristol?Awesome.
