Magic society's intimate HQ, with theatre, library, museum and club room, hosting shows and events.
Amazing! Probably the best night weve had in London. Mind blowing magic and reasonable prices.
Attended a show this evening as a surprise and had a great time being immersed in magic for a little under 2 hours. Charismatic performers, great host, and a lot of "how on earth did they do that?" moments. Unfortunately didnt take a lot of photos because you get caught up intensely watching and trying not to blink but all 4 acts were brilliant.
Unbelievable! I cant believe Ive lived in London for all these years and didnt realise you could attend events at The Magic Circle. Its a fantastic evening out - geared towards adults. Theres a bar downstairs so you can enjoy a tipple pre-show and at the interval. Theres also a small museum downstairs. The magicians were all fantastic. 10/10 - cant wait to return!
Absolutely phenomenal experience. Amazing performances and a fascinating place.
Amazing. Close-up experience, suspended logic and perception. Four excellent magical shows in one.
Magical! Slightly awkward layout if your mobility is restricted though there is one lift.
What a fabulous experience. All 4 magicians we saw were excellent and highly entertaining. We were thrilled with the magic and were amazed by the hands on activities we were involved in. Highly recommend.
Great fun with a close up magic show, a tour of the museum and a magic performance in the theatre. Very interesting and lovely volunteers who really have a pride and passion for the craft of magic. Only open on certain days for the tour and you need to book in advance but we had a great time and you get free tea/coffee and biscuits! They also do family Christmas shows and other events.
We went with friends last night (joint birthday celebrationsand had a brilliant time. Very entertaining.Wandering the small magic museum during the interval was a nice touch. All of the performers were of very high calibreand Chris Wood was clearly passionate about his craft and made a great compere. The current works at Euston station made getting there a little more tricky, so give yourself a little longer to walk if travelling by public transport. No issues for us at the bar.It was an excellent night out and would highly recommend it.
Easy to find venue ( right, right, short walkwelcomed in very relaxing atmosphere a gentleman with Extraordinary moustache lots off jokes, immaculate dress?!! I took part straight away hopeless on calculator being tired? I used it came to the number He’d written down Very impressed with the card Magic, every single Deck appeared I left puzzled & Confused? Bewildered,it has to be seen to be believed Sadly I took no photos plenty on web site I missed the ( Steve Allan Show Eventso I went to this One people come from far & wide even Hertfordshire very, very entertaining unexplainable Magic do go Soon small comfortable venue, clean thanks for the “ After Chat” I needed that will go again & took my teddy bear Miska he loved it?! Do go,don’t miss it Blessed Be
It was a great evening throughly enjoyed it very entertaining and a great place to visit.
A great evening. The magic was amazing and delivered by 4 charismatic members of the Magic Circle. The performance felt very special in the small intimate theatre. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone
We visit over the Christmas period to see their annual Christmas magic show. This is highly recommended, very entertaining and left my kid puzzling on how they did the tricks.
While this is a beautiful niche venue with over 115 years of magic history, a magnificent roll of benefactors, supporters, and over umpteen thousand members world wide sharing their performance skills with each other and the general public at annual Xmas shows theres something sadly lacking in its overall hospitality. The written sign on the access lift implying no visitors could use it from the ground floor to the third level where the theatre is. My friend and l both have mobility problems and l have proprioception issues too. Climbing the spiral staircases in a continual to yo yo for the interval, the toilet and the bar was a real pain. We used the lift from the second level to the third before we discovered it actually operated at all levels ( minus the sign). This may have been an over cautious reaction to co vid but theres a united nations charter for the rights of disabled people that means we can expect to receive some barriers to access at venues to be widely available. This is not an old proscenium theatre. If a lift is installed kindly let us use it. It would be simple to make a small brass plaque that states only 2 people may ride in it at any time. That covers all aspects of safety. I stood three feet away from my friend without hugging the walls of the lift. I deducted a star too for the attitude of the staff at the bar. They had one card terminal between two bar tenders, and there seemed a deal of confusion on starting and finishing an order with the same person. My friend couldnt order a whisky & ginger because they had no whisky. The red wine was undrinkable ( very vinegary.. no alternative. Red wine always needs to breathe and therefore two choices at least should be available to avoid a raw experienceShe then ordered a lager with a dash of lime. That usually means a touch of cordial ( guess what .. nonebut was interpreted as a slice of lime ( of course ..none). Its just as we the performers have plenty of tricks up their sleeves, no shortage of jokes ( though a comment about stroking a rope needs to edited out of a matinée with kids presentand an obvious pride in their work. Worth the entrance price for a two hour run of acts and a chance to visit the museum.. ln a competitive market though with less attendees everywhere l suggest the management take a look at other fringe venues bar areas to see what they are offering.
Lots of fun here, loads of amazing posters and magical gadgets. The staircase is trippy and the whole place has a peculiar feel to it
Exciting place. Staff helpful enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We saw 4 artists plus the compere. All very polished acts
We werent really sure quite what to expect but what a brilliant evening! The museum tour was really interesting and the magicians before the show and in the interval all added something different. The show had me howling at some points and there was a real variety of acts and wed really recommend a visit!
Fabulous evening.I have been 5 times. All the acts are of a high standard.Staff very welcoming.Interesting building.A real hidden gem of London.
Great place. We went for West End Does and it was a fantastic venue and the museum was great!
Fantastic! A must see for any magic fans in London.Tip: they do a show a couple times a month, go to their website. This allows you entry to tour the museum and theres plenty of close up magicians around before the show.Do head to the show early and sit downstairs as balcony views are slightly limited
Great magic show last night. Thank you. An opportunity to visit the museum in this fascinating building in London. The magicians and compere were excellent. Great staff, great fun and awesome magic from some excellent magicians I will be back! If you love magic this must be on your list! They even have Sooty here and hes a member!
Interesting place spread on a number of floors. Was there to see a show. Very good. Can only visit the museum if you see a show etc, magicians were wandering around performing card tricks etc and were happy to answer any questions. Drinks available but limited snacks.
What à fantastic place! Went to Christmas magic show. Loved it! Great entertainment before the show and during breaks. Very friendly venue, made us feel really welcome.
Had a great time see the show. Many thanks
A fantastic evening. 4 INCREDIBLE magicians. Wonderfully warm and welcome atmosphere, bar staff were friendly and the overall experience is something I cannot wait to repeat. You have to go. You literally wont believe your eyes.
Simply amazing. The close up magic show lets you watch 4 experts in magic perform in an intimate and engaging fashion. I would recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in magic.
The small slight of hand/close up magic was amazing and the 3 guys done some really well worked tricks in their slot. Then after a small break the main show just got better as the next 3 stage magicians stepped up and the ending of the show was mind blowingly, jaw droppingly awesome!! Im still struggling to understand how he did what he did!
Had an amazing time at Close up at the magic circle. 4 different magicians who were all amazing performing to a small group of about 15. Getting there early helps to get seats right at the front but the view is pretty good from everywhere. Would definitely recommend for all ages!!!
Oh my days what a great evening out! Casual evening, intimate setting yet hugely professional and felt like a big night out!Close up magic by members of the Magic Circle and lots of detail shared about the levels of magician. All superbly friendly and approachable, full of character and wit, with slight-of-hand abilities that would flummox Fagin!! 😂 Highly recommend it!
A really interactive close-up magic show. The 4 magicians were outstanding!
The most sceptical people will struggle to explain the trickery that goes on here. A fantastic venue, with fantastic people and acts that will leave you speechless. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the show. Close-up shows are particularly spell-binding.
Very interesting, funny and entertaining mix of four magicians on their Thursday evening closeup magic shows. 4 tables spread through the building with the Magicians rotating... You sit at one table and they come to you. Find your seat early, then go look at the historical memorabilia through the building, the museum and grab a drink from the well stocked bar. A great evening was had by all. The night I went we saw Michael Vincent, Sylar, Martin Cox and Jack Tighe. There was always a mix of laughter and gasps all evening.
What a fantastic opportunity I had to visit this place which hosted a speaker event. Lots of historical props and informative cabinet displays about our amazing magicians history. Truly magical
Tuesday night show. It was fantastic. Paid for VIP which made for a great evening, though I think normal tickets would gave been just fine. The performers were great in entertaining us.I would definitely recommend.
Lovely venue tucked away from the hustle bustle of London. Perfect day out for anyone into their magic. We did the Christmas show that is two hours or so worth of magic shows. The acts were brilliant, charismatic and energetic, we loved it. You can also wonder around the museum, which was a bit boring for kids but a nice extra for those unto magic. There is a bar where you can chill, have a snack and see some closeup magic. All in all, fun day and worth every penny!
Wonderful place to visit! Do go if you have a chance for one of their beautiful events. It is an amazing building and people there are very friendly and welcoming.
Would love to share photos of this place but shhh it’s a secret. A welcoming and friendly bunch of magicians meet here regularly. Not all hokum you should go and see one of their public shows in the awesome theatre they have!
The Magic Circle after standing outside for 20 minutes in the cold the Magic Circle finally opened their doors. The queue was then herded upstairs to anti room with the smallest bar in the world with a curtain behind not even hung properly. At least the curtain was navy and speckled. I asked for a dark rum after queuing for 20 minutes and the lady said go downstairs as there is another larger bar down there. We walked down the stairs and a burley man at the entrance said for us to go back upstairs. Disgraceful. The nail in.the coffin was when we went to queue to go into the theatre at 7:30 pm. A man came up to us and said the magic show does not start until 9pm. We just walked out. Appalling
Absolutely FANTASTIC! Been here many times for magic shows and they never cease to amaze. The level of magic is insane, and they are literally jaw dropping. You cant even understand how mind blowing it will be until youve gone. I brought my friends along and i think i broke them because they were just speechless XD. Cannot recommend highly enough! The evening was truly magical
The Magic Circle is such a fantastic place to visit! Well worth it for the close up magic show. The magicians are incredible and very charasmatic and funny. The venue has a bar downstairs (2 glasses of wine cost about £10but only does very basic drinks - no cocktails which is a shame. Theres a lift so elderly or disabled customers will be able to get upstairs easily to watch the show. Alternatively, they have shows downstairs too. There are toilets. The museum in the basement is worth a look - its small but has some interesting relics from the history of magic.
A very intimate experience watching close up magic (impossible to see how tricks are performed!See all their collection of magic items in their museum. They also have a small theatre for more magic.
Really great venue. The magic circle has lots of different rooms with different amazing displays about magic. The private museum has some of Chung ling soos props and a whole load of amazing posters. They even have the cups and balls that Prince Charles used when he auditioned for the magic circle! (Yes! He is a member, and he was trained in the art of sleight of hand by lord Mountbatten!)The magic circle is really worth going to if you can! They offer many public nights and you can see close up magic in the club room where there is the members bar, and then a stage show in the theatre. The theatre is a great small venue and has had many of the worlds best Magician perform at it.
Well worth a trip to London to see this!! I bought this for my other half as he loves Magic!... was the best night ever! We upgraded to the VIP had front row seats, so close to the Magic! Cant rate it enough, will defently be returning
First time we went, we walked straight past. But behind the bland exterior lies a magical place! The Christmas Show is great fun - very entertaining and often very funny. Perfect for all ages. Definitely go as soon as the doors open to see the brilliant close-up magicians at play and to drop into the museum. All the staff clearly love magic and by the time theyve finished, you will too!
While exploring backwater territory I stumbled upon this, drawn by the distinctive doors in an uniformly undistinguished street. I photographed the doors but repeatedly failed attempting to upload my pictures here. A mystery, perhaps occasioned by an adepts spell.
A beautiful venue, it has a spiral staircase that one can take very cool pictures around. The theatre is quite small so it has an intimate feel, the staff all have character.
Although a private club for magicians, if you can get in here for one of the performance nights which are open to the public you will discover a remarkable building and a lovely theater. The performances can be hit or miss, but Ive found the majority of them to be stellar.
A truly enjoyable evening. A very intimate look at some fabulous magic with a comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend - great for a gift as well!
WOWWOWWOW! I came here for the Magic Circle christmas show, a wonderful christmas present and it was one of the best outings of my life!Ive had a soft-spot for magic for years and have made no secret of mentioning this to people, one person got the hint and I am so glad they did.Firstly, the building. Its in a rather strange place to be honest, a spooky backstreet that would fit-in on the set of a murder mystery/Sherlock. That door is there and promises much....Inside you are greated immediately with a wonderful spiral staircase that, with the thanks of various mirrors, seems to go on forever somehow....Youll find a museum in the basement which, unless youre really into magic history, may leave you cold (there is a Sooty in there though, hes a member)! There is also a bar area and kind of reception room with a statue of the founder, good for functions one would imagine.During the christmas show all these areas were littered with magicians doing close-up tricks and it was amazing. Finally, we have the theatre itself, its small, of course, but complete. Its a proper fine theatre and of course nice and intimate, as magic should be.Im so glad to have gone and really hope to return. I cant wait...
I went to see a Variety show at the Magic circle and it was the most awful experience that I have ever had the misfortune to pay for. They did not have enough acts that were good enough to be called variety. They padded the show out with a woman who played the piano, she was mediocre at best, an elderly couple who played jazz, and an old man who sang but quite frankly he should have retired years ago as he was very bad. There was also a juggler who did not have a very good act.The saving graces were a Magician who was very good and a ventriloquist who was amazing and the audience laughed until we cried.
