Ferry Route Barrack St Jetty, Birdiya Dr, Perth WA 6000, Australia, Perth
Stalwart joint with a decked riverfront terrace, offering drinks and pub grub in relaxed surrounds.
The staff were amazing, I had a reaction and the Manager, Lucy was amazing. She was responsive, caring and knew exactly what to do and remained calm. We had an amazing meal with a lovely view as well. Thank you.
Saturday evening …going out for some dinner and a beverage at the Lucky Shag…or so the four of us thought. I was leading my wife of 67 years on my arm towards the security person position on the door when she had a slight stumble, enough for the security person to decide she must have consumed too much alcohol, and on that basis refused her entry. I explained that my wife has a spinal cord injury and therefore has a limited walking ability and sometimes struggles with her footing. He nevertheless decided to stick to his first decision and refused her entry. This kind of narrow minded decision making by a person with obvious limited people skills is not only embarrassing but also very upsetting to somebody that struggles every day with limited mobility issues. Suggest management is a bit more careful as to the people they put in charge on their door.
Great vibe with amazing river views and a gentle breeze to cool you down. Decent food and drinks and pleasant friendly staff.
An early lunch for me today, my second visit to this Establishment. The experience was mixed, hence the 4 Stars, not 5.The tap beers are still limited. But Great Northern goes down well enough.Lunch was Fish & Chips. A staple, but one Ive always said you can judge an Australian pub on.The price of $26 was typical, the meal was not. Soooo close to Excellent. So close. The Fish was well cooked, in a light Batter. Tasty, yet not heavy on the stomach. The Chips were Excellent by themselves. Firm, cooked just right. I only wish thered been more.No attempt at a Salad, just the Tartre Sauce and a Lemon quarter. So simple, but good.However. Kids at a Bar.Ive never thought it was appropriate.A Pub/Bar/Tavern is a Drinking and Eating Establishment for Adults. Not a Daycare Centre or Nursery. So crying Babies are a distraction at Best.I do understand the Business side. You are in a Tourist area. You dont get enough clientele there who just want to drink, eat and enjoy themselves. But for Middle-aged Batchelors on their day off work? Idve been Happier without them.
We were welcomed with a upfront and inexperienced bouncer, who asked us were we had previously been and how much we had to drink, this was at 8pm! The food was lacklustre, the “steak of the day” being the exact same cut as what is in the steak sandwich! Grizzly and hard to eat. The burger was tasteless, the wings were ok, the Nasi goreng had no flavour. I would never eat here again. Up your game.
Visited for lunch & drinks with my work fam, two of us ordered margherita pizzas and were both seriously disappointed. It was like eating a slice of cardboard, drinks were great though.
Excellent food - amazing management and staff. Had a little mishap on the eftpos (no one’s faultand the staff helped me for two days to get it sorted. That is true service.
Can I ask if your chefs know what a pizza is? My friends ordered the margarita and it was a square, hard base with pasta sauce, minimal cheese, tomato and BASIL PESTO!? It was horrific and at $23.00 it was basically inedible. Your bar staff were sour and there was service with no smile. Unpleasant.
We dropped over 1K on a bar tab + food and they stopped letting members of our group back in after they went out the front of a smoke. Absolutely disgusting from a pub we spend a large amount of money at. Cut of a member of our group when he was stuttering because he has a brain tumour. Will not be returning
Ordered fish and chips , the butter was very thick and half empty inside so very little fish. No salad .. for $ 28 😳
Great lunch, cold beer and a wonderful spot.Would recommend popping in.
Best spot in Perth for a cold beer and a feed. Right on the river. Beautiful breeze but not a lot of close parking. Love this bloody place.
First time visit on this fine, Sunny day. The venue itself is Excellent. I can understand how it gets crowded in Summer. But I was disappointed by the range of Beers they had on tap. Its so hard to find a Good Full-strength Lager nowadays. Like Stella Artois. Here its new healthy stuff and Pale Ale. There was Peroni, but I just cant stomach that. Even there Bottled selection was slim, at least for the quick look that I had. So for the first time in a decade, Corona it was. And kudos to the Barman for not automatically putting Lemon or Lime in it. Its better without.Next visit will have to include a Meal, then we can judge a bit more thoroughly.
The girls staff where really nice, the boys on the other hand where to busy on getting the bar cleaned so they could have it closed and all patrons gone by 9pm.The food was amazing :)
A personal favourite of ours. Right on the water and specials most nights. Pizza was very good. Pints excellent. Well worth a thought if you need somewhere to eat.
Booked for birthday lunch on a very busy Saturday afternoon, very loud music inside so glad we got placed outside deck. The location is a perfect outlook over the River. All seating is bar stool so not great for elderly. Ok bar service but cocktails are terrible, not one of them tasted good or was made well. Food was Not great either. All meals came out at different times and I had to follow up peoples ordered meals which is unacceptable. My teenager was harrassed by Security guard for I.D when she went to toilet so they need to settle down as children are welcome we thought. Mainly a younger crowd so suited our birthday celebration vibe but the food & cocktails are not up to scratch in comparison to other venues.
I entered the establishment, lost and afraid, in search of a land where I would feel safe and could acquire a perfectly poured beer. Once I stumbled up to the bar I was greeted by a man whose warm smile caused me to immediately feel as though I was welcomed home. This man proceeded to pour me the most exquisite beer I have ever received. As this occurred he asked me, “sir, you seem troubled. Are you okay?”. I knew this man could see through the mask I have worn for so many years. I replied, “no. The last few months since my wife left me have been difficult to say the least”. The bartender, whilst pouring this exceptional beer, proceeded to listen to my story and gave me comfort and advice which I believe has left me better off as a man. I will never forget this man, the man’s name was John and since our interaction I have never been the same.
This is a great session spot and with enough screens you wont miss the game if you are a sports fan. Food can be hit or miss but the view and the vibe more than makes up for it.
Took mum out for mothers day. Service was fantastic. Nothing was too much problems. All our meals were really good. I had chilli beef nachos. Delicious. Nasi Goreng was good and the chicken wings. Great atmosphere on the water front.
Great location, good pub food, friendly stafd
Went there Sunday with a work group. The girls behind the bar were absolutely shocking. There was no service with a smile & one chick literally looked past & served the guy behind us?? We work in the hospitality industry so it was a bit of a disgrace. I believe the culture of a work team falls from the head so I would suggest that whoever is running that place should think about what sort of environment & mood you want to set for your business. The proof is in the numbers.. for a place with such great views & positioning. The place was at a third of capacity. We even had to ask the security to remove someone who was intoxicated & falling over us. If your that desperate for customers that you would accept that sort of crowd then hey?
I was there on Sunday with a group of friends, I really think the bar staff need customer service training, and especially now when venues are trying to attract locals to support their businesses. Bar staff are rude, dont know how to make cocktails properly and the attitude left us shocked. If bar staff cant answer questions about drinks and what can be ordered from the menu or behind the bar without berating customers then you really need to get better staff. I dont think any of us will be going back soon, we will be supporting other local bars in perth going forward.
We went for a work function yesterday- about 15 of us. Ordered food/drinks etc. Bar staff were grumpy and unfriendly. Border-line rude. Every time we requested something like ice or limes or an extra glass we were met with rolled eyes or contempt- like it was a massive inconvenience for us to be there. Security staff were friendly and didnt look like they were attending a funeral. But overall bad vibes from the rest of the team which is a shame because we were all happy and upbeat when we arrived. One guy on bar was professional and what youd expect from a Customer Service perspective. Sadly the rest seemed not wanting to be there. Maybe training your staff in a smile or the minimum in service standards wouldnt go amiss. Wont be back in a hurry. Food was ok. Waiter took some meals away before wed even finished.
Had dinner here 4 times out of our 6 night stay in Perth. Fresh seafood and all other dishes we had were great. Husband loved the selection of beers on tap.
I went for a bottomless lunch and it was incredible. Staff went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated for. The cocktail and mocktail menus were extensive and didnt single anyone out for not drinking. You got far more bang for your buck than other venues with similar events
We enjoyed lunch and cool drinks here. This was a good place to sit and recover our energy, from walking sightseeing Perth. There’s a breeze from the river that refreshing on a hot day. We planned our day trip around Perth and decided to visit Rottnest Island too.Friendly staff and atmosphere. Clean amenities good location.
Had a steak sandwich which was yum except for the relish that was bitter. Place has a lovely vibe and nice river view. Was a little disappointed when we saw a cockroach 🪳 on the wall. But overall its a good joint.
As vegan, I would prefer greater variety of vegan options. Had a serve of Nachos - very disappointed. Maybe non-vegan option is delicious, but vegan one was blend. No flavour at all. Staff was friendly, though. Nice place to hang out, but please, bring more vegan options 🥙🧆🌮💚
Perfect stop for drinks and a great feed overlooking the water and South Perth.Great vibe with plenty of beers on tap & a pretty good food selection on offer.Outdoor deck on the water is the popular location but you can also dine inside if you wish.
Great water front restaurant with very tasty meals, views over the river and friendly staff. Nice area for a night out.
Been here for dinner with my friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. The ambience was beautiful too with lovely staffs.
Not bad, beautiful spot and the food was quite good for pub grub. One of the bar staff was a little surly and disinterested (monday-itis maybe), when I asked a question and the table we sat at was beer-sticky and didnt get wiped, so thats reason for reduced stars. Otherwise, we will still return, but not our no.1 choice.
A great spot for a catch up in the city. Had a few beers and a meal. The meals are quite good for a pub meal, had some good local musicians playing done music. Good service at the bar, empty glasses removed quickly, food didnt take too long.Added bonus we got to see dolphins swimming about 20 metres from our table! Would definately return.
Great venue for casual bite or group gathering. I attended for a work Christmas wind-up. Food was great but they did lose a couple of our meals - no harm done. The staff were friendly and we all had a great time. Would recommend no problem.
I went to this place for a work Christmas function. The upstairs area was great looking over the river. Snack foods were nice too have with the different types of beer available.
Seafood platter was amazing. Food was tasty and fresh. Staff was super friendly. Kitchen was closing by the time we ordered but managed to squeez our order. Live music on Tuesday night. Awesome atmosphere with water view. Cocktails was top notch
The food was great, service fairly quick and a nice place to sit and look out across the river. It can be a bit noisy when patrons gather but well worth the visit.
Beautiful spot to visit by foot, car or boat. Good atmosphere here especially when the live music is playing and the sun is setting. Fried chicken burger was good.
Attentive Staff, if you are lucky enough to grab a seat upstairs watch the sun set.Food good, but a bit on pricey size for portions, however this is well known venue so expect to pay more.
great food great service 👍🏼 there are warmers in the outdoor seating but it still gets a little chilly in the evening. i was in the mood for a mojito but it was a little disappointing. maybe i should have ordered a beer instead
Great Riverside pub that overlooks the Swan River. Theres an upstairs bar for better river views and more lounging seats. Really good selection of beers an other beverages as well as some really decent food! Some of the new buildings are obstructing the views of the foreshore unfortunately, however most of the beauty of the Swan and picturesque South shore can still be observed and enjoyed.
The place was very busy and there was live music as well as sport on TVs around the venue. The service and food was good and tasty. The friendly staff were very accommodating and friendly. Their service were fantastic. I can recommend this for great food and fun. The ablution facilities were clean and looked after.
Great place to meet up, we were there for the football so Leeds United had pretty much taken over the place. Awesome atmosphere.Drinks were good, nice and cold. We ordered pizza and a bag of chips, the bag was massive and they were tasty. They have daily offers on food and drink too.Its in a lovely location with a large outdoor area, with heaters for night time.
On the Swan River with beautiful views at all times. Chilli mussels amazing and great value and then theres the live acoustic music. Easy, relaxing and ticks every box.
I have been going here for years and the service here has been a mixed bag. And like the other reviewers suggested, the security is very strict and treat the place like a night club even during the day. Now with all the new options at Elizabeth Quay there is less and less of a reason to end up at the Lucky Shag.
Great food and excellent river views - perfect place to spend a nice lovely evening with beautiful views!
One of Perths well know places down on Barrack Street Jetty by the Bell Tower. Been here many times and will keep coming back. Amazing location on the water with great pub grub for any occasion. They have live music on weekends too to create a great atmosphere for catch ups. Always a good time here
Love the Shag - plus theyve got Furphy on tap for the Geelong crowd now. Great place to catch a sunset or a cold one when youre wandering Elizabeth Quay. The rooftop bar is good value and youve got a view of the Bell Tower. Staff is quick.
I came here for a Sunday lunch with my family. The food was typical pub pricing with main meals hovering between $20-$30. The presentation was lovely but the food was a little disappointing. It tastes alright but everything was just a bit bland. Although the dishes could do with more flavour, the portion sizes were decent and they had a good selection of beers.
Beautiful bar / restaurant at Elizabeth Quay, Perth with fantastic views over the Swan River towards South Perth.Ideal for eating outdoors on the terrace with a more than acceptable menu with a variety of plates on offer. If all you want is a nice cold beer this is a neat spot.Highly recommended.
