Lively, spacious pub with log fire, serving cask ales and a mixture of classic and modern dishes.
I have visited this place many times over the years, and I cannot fault it. If you’re looking for great pub food, then this is the place.Staff are always friendly, service is quick and the food is just what you would expect…simple but good pub grub.We managed to get a seat by the fire and it was a very cosy atmosphere with all of the Christmas decorations. It helps that the cleanliness standards are also high.
Went to the Longhorn for Sunday lunch, food Delish, Staff polite and friendly, all good except the place was FREEZING……. No heating…. A couple of warm air heaters which were NOT on, we were colder when we came out than when we went in, so disappointed, other diners making the same comment’s. Won’t be going back in a hurry.
I had the ultimate burger which was fine, my daughter had the huntsman chicken which came minus the onion rings. The waitress said the onion rings were on the way, they never arrived. We then ordered desserts, which turned out to be the smallest deserts ever, no way worth as much as they charge.Overall very disappointed. Also it was freezing inside the restaurant, the radiators were stone cold. They had one fire on which threw no heat out at all. In fact my daughter had to keep her coat on throughout the meal.Very disappointed, will not return in an hurry.
We had special party here food was exceptional staff very friendly and not overpriced.
Local, beautiful, always clean, friendly staff. Sometimes have to wait long for a food but thats because they always very busy.
Came in as had made an online enquiry to book Christmas day lunch and no one had contacted me as promised. Was told very rudely by bar staff member that they were fully booked already. Why could I not have had a call to tell me that or at least an email.Shall not visit again
Been for lunch today. Waited 45 minutes for main course and food was almost cold. Seemed very short staffed.
Lovely busy pub with a large choice on the menu and friendly staff. The fish & chips is lovely, a great portion and quality for the price! My go-to local for a cheap and reliable dinner with good service
Not impressed meal looked as if it was thrown on the plate we were aware of the 40 minutes wait but I did expect a decent meal staff and service was good
Thought I would try the longhorn as I normally go to the bell Inn.but that is temporarily closed due to reburshing. Went for a meal with my wife. It was cold inside. A gentleman came and put little heater on in the corner and said that the central heating always breaks down this time of year. I am thinking if you know that why have you not fixed the problem. The food came out it was luke warm .expected it to be piping hot. Was not to impressed.my wife felt cold and that is mot what you expect . So I will not be returning in future.
Nice enough place to eat but it is all pretty average in every respect: service, ordering, wait times, menu, prices and food.
Great food fantastic 🍺 🍻 nice place for a chill out drink.Tables could be alittle cleaner.
Great value with the 1, 2, or 3 course lunches or Dinners. Friendly staff. Clean. Good location. Shame the Parkin doesn’t back into the canal.
Lovley pub and lovely staff
We called today for sunday lunch when ordering the duo beef and turkey they stated no turkey left only beef, we ordered 3 beef lunches, to our amazement there was only one slice of beef on each plate, when asking the staff he stated there was not meat left to even give you, why didnt they say this when ordering we could have opted for a different meal 😡
Absolute rubbish food and customer liaison skills lacking in the Manager George, cold food, very little choice, could do a dessert of 2 very large waffles at £4.99 plus coffee at £2.79 , but couldn’t do the mini pud waffle including a coffee for 4.99 that should have been £2.50 as it was advertised as £9.99 add a starter or dessert for £2.50! Apparently there were no mini puds left only gigantic portions that if the chef ( using the term very loosely as more microwave ping men! had cut just one of the large waffles in 2 he would have achieved what I ordered and not been free to charge 3 times the amount advertised and still had 3 portions left. It’s not rocket science, the table next to us complained about their food George wasn’t really intrested in their complaint either, or a couple at the bars complaint regarding their food! So our complaint obviously pushed him over the edge very rude needs to find a more suited career maybe l! We will not be using this place again after visiting regular for over 20 years maybe longer, well before M&B got their hands on it
Love place, nice food and attentive staff. Highly recommended
Great Food & Atmosphere everytime we goLove it here.
The overall experience was very good indeed. Me and my wife visited for lunch and a couple of drinks. The meal was fantastic, fresh and pipping hot. It was delivered very well by the waitress. The waitress asked if we needed anything extra and I asked for some hot chilli Sauce which she came back with. The drinks ere excellent. The barmaid who served me was very well trained and knowledgeable. We will be returning back in the very near future.
Was dissapointed yesterday had table booked 4pm, shown to table there was dirty plates etc on there they were moved as we sat down but no clean of table!..after waitin over 1hr food it wasnt the best hunters chicken dry & chips wasnt fresh, roast beef chewy over cooked roaster & no yorkshire puddings, staff were quite miserable & no one came to do table check.
Good value, but slightly disappointing. Long waiting times for food which was hot, however a steak was overcooked and the sauce portions were stingy as only the tomato sauce was on the table. The staff were friendly and the pub was clean but the experience could have been better.
Loved the food, the staff are very helpful. Only thing missing was phone signal, i couldnt tether my autistic sons tablet to keep him happy, and there was no wifi. Other than that it was very nice here.I recommend the fish and chips off the fixed price menu, the fish was the best ive had anywhere inland and ill be returning to have it again.
Lovely food and excellent service. Nice array of beers on tap. Certainly worth a visit.
Food was fabulous, pub was lovely and clean , staff very friendly . Dog friendly which is a bonus, thanks
Shocking. Should be called the long wait. Went here for my nan’s birthday meal so we had booked a table for 11 people. Luckily my brother was ill and escaped the brutal ordeal of waiting for luke warm food at best. We waited for at least an hour to have our meals, the staff weren’t sure what we was having even then as they had brought out childrens meals, We explained what we had ordered and had to go through what we ordered again just for more waiting. I didn’t know we ordered the long wait but hey, we had it. Food then arrived luke warm, to say it was a disappointment would be an understatement and because we had ordered the courses we then had to wait even more for the puddings. So we waited a further 45 minutes to be asked, guess what! What did you order for puddings! Shambles. I have a three month old baby getting unsettled at this point and three other children trying to find their own entertainment. Luckily my baby fell asleep and the children are well behaved, we could have all took a nap and woken up in time for food. When you book somewhere for food and the pub isn’t even half full, maybe that should be taken as a cue but nope. We wanted to discover the long wait, small portions of food that’s just like warm and a bitter taste of parting with your money and a loss of time. Safe to say I won’t be returning here.
The whole experience was very good. Staff were very helpful and service for drinks and food really good.Nice atmosphere and a good buzz in the pub
Lovely cocktails. Nice outdoor seating although the non smoking area appeared to be in the car park
Fabulous service and food. Great value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit today. Will definitely be back again.
Food and drinks were lovely, no issues. Its a shame that the smoking area is right outside the main entrance so non-smokers and children have to walk through it to get to the pub. It also means if you dont want to be surrounded by smoke you cant sit outside
Had a very nice Sunday Lunch here with hubby..food was lovely 😋. Unfortunately the service was not as great as we know it can be is hence the 3***
Staff were friendly, but they were short staffed long waiting time for food and we had two courses but meals didnt come together so we didnt start together or finish together as they were serving other tables instead of serving one table at a time ,but I would lay blame to poor management. Food was okay but dont recommend the risotto as main meal as portion size is more suitable for a starter .
Staff very friendlyFrench dipping burger awesome!Beers great!Pleased to call it my local even though i live 4 miles away !!Whats not to like.
Shame you have to select a star. 9 of us came for a meal appalling is an understatement.3 people had to send theirs back.Unedible food. We had to wait over 1hr for 1 of the meals. No even an apology was offered.Hence to say we wont be back.
Less staff, no ice and no air conditioning. Thought Id go out, for a few drinks and soak up the sun with the family today. Didnt plan on eating but the kids wanted too. So I thought wed give it a go but I will not be visiting here in a hurry again.
Have been several times. Food always good & staff always friendly. Prices are not bad. 4 stars because portions are adequate/ bit on small side
A large outdoor seating area showing good managerial skills that utilise the space enabling many drinkers to enjoy warm weather. Inside is impressively furnished, too.No problem to try two different ales before I bought. I settled for the Dark Star Hophead which was crisp, refreshing and hoppy.Service with a smile deserved a tip.
Went to the longhorn today for my first Father’s Day meal with my 4 month old. My partner had pre-booked a table but when we got there it hadn’t been reserved! Thankfully there were tables free. Food came out and I think the staff thought we were primates and were going to eat with our hands as we had no cutlery and had to chase someone to get some after waiting. Not even an apology for this. All in all the food was good but the service was appalling. All the staff looked like they’d just been to a funeral and I don’t think I could have brought a smile. Oh and to top it off I never even got my complementary pint of Guinness for Fathers Day!!
Have to say being a local we have been here numerous times and of late the food really has been very poor. I know its a pub chain and you usually get what you pay for but the portions we had with our last nights visit were very measly and not value for money, I would say fit for a child almost ;/ also the menu has not been changed in what feels like an eternity.Although we wont be rushing to eat there again i will say that the atmosphere and the pub itself is very welcoming. Being dog friendly is also a bonus. Shame about the food...
Very nice food, very nice staff and a very clean pub. Roomie too, with enough space between tables to enjoy a personal conversation. I popped in for breakfast. There was a wide range to choose from, including Vegie and Vegan. I had Scrambled Egg on Toast. Very nice 👍. The Coffee was excellent. I had 2 cups and regretted it all the way back home, cross legged 😄. Speaking of loos, theres were very clean, like the rest of the pub. Excellent all round. Ill be back 😁👍😍
Lovely decor, staff nice. Fair prices, okay food.
Service was rubbish on this occasion.Had to keep asking for our main course, no one collected the starters and then had to ask again for desserts. I must’ve gone up to the bar to chase the food about 4 times.Previously the service used to be better but on this occasion I was ready to walk out as my son was hungry and was waiting way too long for his food. He’s only 2.
Dreadful experience. Booked by phone only to be told we wasnt expected despite showing confirmation email. Steak was tough and fatty. It was not cooked to requirement and chips were cold. The table was wedged between two others which when occupied trapped my partner in. Shall not be recommending to anybody.
Came here for lunch with my husband and sister. They opted for a lunch time sandwich and I went for the nachos. We were blown away by the portion sizes! The sandwiches were huge, filled with meat and with a side of crisps and salad. They were both very impressed and very stuffed!I dont normally get nachos but the BBQ pulled pork nachos sounded perfect. The bowl was huge! And honestly, the nachos are like nothing Ive ever tasted before. They were light, big and I couldnt stop eating them. The cheese was lovely, still bubbling on top.Lovely seating area, very COVID safe spacing and the staff were really nice.Weve been back since and would come back again.
Good atmosphere, below-average food. Well priced but all the food wasnt seasoned properly, and either way too hot/overcooked or had been held for a while before serving. Some decent options on the menu but nothing anyone on the table had was better than other cheaper pubs. Service was great and fast.Cocktails were not worth £5 each (on 2 for 1 offerat all, might as well have been orange juice and vodka.. Stick to the standard drinks!!
Very nice pub food, great selection of beer and wines, very nice Sunday lunch
Going by the way plenty of people eating lunches and dinners must be good food here. The real ale nice and well kept.Nice outside seating area.
We stopped by for lunch today with some friends. They were busy and the food did take quite some time to come out , I understand this when It is busy . However they got our order wrong and as a result I ended up eating my dinner on my own and not with the rest of the party after an additional 20 minute wait. To compound matters the salad on my plate was going brown and looked horrible see the attached pictures.
Had scampi & chips Monday chips were cold but I still ate it .then we ordered sweet I had artic roll with raspberry sauce. And my partner had salted caramel billionaire gold bar served with strawberry sauce. The waitress brought our sweets both WITHOUT the sauces. When I asked where the sauces where she replied. We havent got any. Fair enough but if she had told us that at first. We would not have bothered having one . Surrey they should of told us this first. I was charge for a large orange juice when it was small. And not cheap at £2.99 . I did not check the bill till I got home. So to late to rectify. See photos
Lovely pub but unfortunatley not the best food. Waited just under an hour in a not too busy pub for food which when it arrived the woman serving couldnt tell us whose steak and what steak she was giving us. In all fairness the posh fish and chips went down well but the new potatoes with the sea bass came like a cross between mashed and boiled. My nans elderly but she can cut up her own taters guys! My steak which was supposed to be a ribeye was tough and looked more like pork chop and there wasnt much flavour. The chips however are pretty tasty. Weve currently been sat waiting 40 minutes for dessert and when we asked the waitress we were told there serving other tables before us as they needed those tables.... the dessert has finally arrived but dont expect them all at once as our came with intervals. We was at this pub for 3 hours and we definetly wont be back. ( there was a lot of other issues throughout our night but we think this is a big enough review!)
Visited Saturday .... Food wait was 40 mins ... that was ok it come in 20... and was nice ... big minus point dirty tables that were not cleaned in the hour and 15 mins we were there ... to me thats not good enough for a pub of this calibre
