The Long Paddock - Restaurant in Bairnsdale, Australia
Amazing unique breakfast experience in East Gippsland. This cafe seems to be the heart of the town. The kimchi pancake, baked eggs and scones were delicious and the view was beautiful.
When I’m the area, this is a MUST DO! Such an awesome menu and absolutely delicious food.
Simple. Elegant. Amazing.Beautiful food and warm, friendly service. Cant wait to go back.
Really great food and coffee. We will definitely be back! Its worth the 45 min drive for lunch
Oh wow, what an absolute gem this place is. I hesitated in putting up a review because I fear the place will become even busier. The owners obviously run the Long Paddock from the heart, love and care oozes from every dish. On my two recent visits I enjoyed a gnocchi with smoked hock and a Lamb shoulder and goats cheese pastilla and each was faultless. I also enjoyed an excellent Rhubarb and custard Paris Brest with ginger ice cream. The service was excellent from wait staff who very much share the passion and pride of the owners. I thoroughly recommend anyone who enjoys their food to book a table, even if it means a holiday to Gippsland.
The food was delicious, great coffee and very good table service. The venue is relaxing and friendly
Never tried truffles before..and this was a kimchi pancake with green vegetables, poached egg and a lovely sauce on top...make sure you book...the place has a beautiful atmosphere
You must book and enjoy a beautiful luncheon out here...tried a kimchi meal with truffles..simply scrumptious...great table service.the ambience was unique.. awesome take away coffees...10/10
Restaurant full of character, great staff. Amazing regional, seasonal meals. We had ham hock gnocci, beef shin pie and terrine. All beautiful as well as the frangipani pie. So hard to choose a dessert. Enticing cocktails.
Best restaurant we have ever visitedOMG!! if this restaurant is in Melbourne, I would love to go there everyday! We ordered the gnocchi and the beef sirloin, they were fantastic!
Delicious food, great service, worth every dollar
Stopped in by chance on a road trip and OMG, I wish I stayed to try the whole menu. Had a savoury tart, coffee and the meringue (menuand loved every part of it. Staff were very helpful with the menu and were prompt, which was great because we arrived just before the kitchen closing. Would rate 6/5 if I could.
Dilectable on almost all counts.Friendly staff, very reasonable prices, great menu, timely service, locally produced ingredients, in house made desserts. Lovely old building of the era in location with furnishing to suit.Only adverse comments would be the acoustics of the room we were in made conversation difficult without being extremely loud, and therefore having to listen to adjacent tables discussions, and secondly access would appear to be typical of a previous time not catering for those in a wheelchair.
Went for lunch and it was fantastic with so many dessert options! We have been many times over the last few years and it is always great food with an ever changing seasonal menu. Well worth a visit!
A charming but busy Cafe set in the rural township of Lindenow. Coffee was great! Up there with the best.
I have been here numerous times and have had an exceptional experience each time. I definitely recommend anyone in the area to stop in. Tanya and the team are fantastic.
What a find! Possibly the best gnocchi Ive ever had, lovely setting and friendly service. Worth the drive.
What a meal. great meal in a party of 13. Friendly and prompt service
Best gnocchi I have ever had!Staff were also lovely and friendly.Would definitely eat here again!
Great food, different variety of mains and desserts every week to keep you coming. Weve been going for years and the staff have consistently been amazing while the food is always delicious!
Went back here today after awhile - due to CoVid. Just as fabulous as ever. The Lemon Tart is to die for. Thanks Long Paddock. See you again soon.
Quirky interiors and interesting decor. Food was unbelievable and chefs of the highest quality. Well worth the drive.
Had an amazing lunch my partner and I shared everything we started with the chicken liver parfait so delicious and we had a sweet corn risotto with confit chicken and the gnocchi which was with peppers tomato and a beautiful breadcrumb……the food was so well executed we could not fault anything … the service was also really good will definitely be back!
A great stop to make. Local ingredients turned into great meals. Really friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.
This beautiful cafe was the highlight of our trip to the area - it’s definitely worth a short detour via Lindenow.Service is so friendly and warm and genuinely welcoming. Tables out front are perfect- fresh air, shaded, and offer a view of green fields and of local life in this tiny hamlet. Lots of tables are available inside too.The food menu is the star of the show - uniquely creative dishes which not only look gorgeous but are packed full of flavour. And make sure you try one of the sensational sweet treats on display in the glass cabinets - you won’t regret it! Great coffee too.Highly recommended.
One of the best cafes period. Theres the long paddock and other places. Its quirky and fun. The food is second to none. The local produce really shines through. If youre remotely in the area this is a must! The cake selection alone is epic but pair it with a coffee and pie. Absolute bliss.Be warned this menu is not like a typical cafe menu but more a fine dining style menu that changes daily. All too often you hear people grumble about not being able to order their boring cafe order. This place offers an incredible experience to try local food.
Loved this place! Food was amazing (with a great variety on offerand had a wonderful drink selection. Staff were very warm and welcoming - lovely place to have lunch!
Ham Hock Pie, Brie and Herb Tart and Lemon Meringue Cheesecake were ordered for Christmas Eve for family gathering. Every person raved about the taste ( there was a lot of mmmming going on and presentation of the food, Mum (93 years young!stated the Pie 🥧 was the best she had ever tasted.!Thankyou Tania and Long Paddock Team your food is absolutely delicious.
I had a fantastic brunch here. Food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. Would recommend going out of your way to eat here. I will be back :)
Coffee used to be great, it was really good. Now it tastes like watered down instant coffee. I went back to my accommodation to drink it and ended up making a instant coffee that tastes better.
Incredible food! The building has such charm and history. Gorgeous views of the hills. 10/10 recommend eating here
Amazing food, great service. Definitely worth the side stop. Recommended by word of mouth otherwise would not know it was here.Beef shin pie and asparagus/trout/potato salad.
Stopped off for a quick morning coffee and ended up ordering homemade scones with cream and homemade blackberry jam. Delicious! Staff very friendly and quick service, and it was nice eating outside. Well worth the stopoff in Lindenow.
Excellent all round place to eat.Staff were friendly and efficient .The food was delicious and full of flavour. Fresh ingredients presented tastefully on the plate. We would highly recommend this place. It was well worth our drive from Melbourne. We will be back.
Delicious food all round but you definitely want to treat yourself to the yummy desserts, especially their counter treats 😋
Delightful and unexpected - 20 mins out of Bairnsdale in the heart of a wonderful horticultural area - Lindenow- lies this superb restaurant/cafe.Great coffee, quirky but interesting breakfast menu - well executed and yummy. Now to find an excuse for a long lunch or dinner.I did note it was fully booked on a weekday lunchtime so it’s style and reputation has spread.
Where to start? Our coffees were divine (I could not stop at one soy latte, I just had to have another), and my companion was almost in rapture over her scone with jam and cream. The service was exemplary, to the point that the staff gave absolutely no indication that wed overstayed our welcome a good 20 minutes past closing time (sorry guys...), until we came to the realisation ourselves, and only when wed left did they begin to pack away chairs and take out the rubbish etc.On previous occasions I have also enjoyed meals at The Long Paddock, and they have never failed to impress. An absolutely fantastic venue in every aspect, and more than worth the short drive from Bairnsdale!
Recommended by everyone I asked in Bairnsdale, and it didnt disappoint. Service was brilliant, I can highly recommend the gnocchi with mussels and scallops. The bisque sauce was intense, but sublimely balanced. I didnt want it to end. I sooooo wanted to lick the plate to get that last taste. Had a piece of apple and almond tart to take away, planned to have for dinner dessert, barely made it into the house before eating - also exceptional. Thank you!!
If you travel to bairnsdale, You couldnt miss the food here. The best of the best, We have beef & lamb pie. Beautiful taste . Million Stars ❤❤❤ Lovely service
Delicious food & delightful service & cozy warm atmosphere.Staff bent over backwards to help provide a delicious meal for diner with restricted dietary requirements. Always a joy to have a meal in this gem of a place.
Great service and fantastic food. Very well-priced (I cant remember any mains being over $30). This is my kind of restaurant - it is more about good produce done well than fancy techniques and fancy plating. I will definitely return. Hot smoked salmon soba salad pictured below.
Absolutely delicious food! The gnocchi and chicken pie was to die for. Dessert is off the charts.Stopping here is a must! ❤️
Best spinach tart I’ve eaten in my life. It was delicious! It also included a side salad and some homemade cucumber radish which was amazing! Besides they gave us a discount of $10 each as we were doing take away.
Great spot for lunch! Some locals beers, short but good food menu and friendly service.
Delicious food, great service and fabulous views.
A charming little cafe/restaurant just outside Bairnsdale whose modest exterior belies the exceptional culinary talent that lies within. The home-made pies are the best weve ever had with light and buttery pastry and a rotating selection of melt-in-the-mouth meats. The cakes are superb and youd better visit with a few friends, as youll never be able to choose just a couple.
This little gem in the country is just waiting to be explored by travellers and locals alike. A small menu with great variety, each dish has been thought through surprisingly well. At the time of visit there was only the one item on the menu suitable for vegetarians and vegans and boy was it a hit. The lamb dish was also superb. Great service, funky atmosphere set in an old bakery with the original wood fired bakers oven beautifully maintained. Do not miss this place. PS. The apple crumble is to die for
Excellent food in an out of the way place. I love finds like this. Our cups of coffee were well made and smooth.
Very good food and welcoming service. Great coffee too.
A hidden Gem! Had the baked eggs for brekkie... Cooked to perfection and served in the skillet. Coffee was so good, I ordered a second!
