The Lighthouse Restaurant and Lounge in Burlington

Where do I even start… I ordered for pick up. When I got in no one was there at the front to help us so after about 3 minutes of waiting we went to the bar area, where there were very obnoxious drunk people who you think would have to be kicked out. Anyway tried my best to ignore that, we finally got our order but I noticed cheese was missing from my burger but they still charged me. So I told the blonde worker, when I was explaining she just shook her head took my order and went to the back. Then she came back out with it me and my boyfriend thanked her, and no response…..I didn’t appreciate the attitude for something that was not my fault. I will definitely not be coming back

Lunch was excellent. Great variety; excellent preparation. Manager went out of her way for us when she was confronted with a sick cook, calling in a replacement and a delay

Tasty food. Decent beer selection. However, the place seemed to suffer from understaffing and it was a bit slow. Staff was friendly.

Food was delicious. Garden salad with steak tips, medium. Clam chowder and a local draft.

This is my very first Google review. This is how much I loved the food here!!!Were staying at the hotel next door and were headed out for dinner when a thunderstorm hit. Decided to just walk over and eat at the Lighthouse. Was blown away by the friendly service, amazing food and the reasonable prices!Had the calamari which was fantastic with the tiny bits of fried vegetables and jalapenos. The soup flight was awesome with plenty of grilled cheese to go with it. I tasted each soup and my fave was the clam chowder. Ive been eating clam chowder all week throughout new England. This one hands down was the best!I never order the shrimp scampi at restaurants...I usually order red sauce (in lactose intolerant so the creamy sauces are out). This was the only pasta dish without cream so I ordered it and it was amazing too!

Stopped in for a few drinks but good bar area and outside seating. Staff was attentive and looked like they enjoyed working at the Lighthouse.

Food, drinks & service were great. Atmosphere was ok.

Great food and service. Definitely recommend the nachos. My husband didnt have enough good things to say about the lobster ravioli with shrimp and scallop scampi. Definitely recommend!

Conveniently located in the parking lot of the Hampton in. Good indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. Several beers on draft, but little effort to serve up any of the great local beers. Food was very good, but expensive, and portions were small. Waitress was abrupt, borderline impolite and had her own agenda-which was not serving us. There were very few customers, but she still had no time for questions or small talk.

Enjoyed dinner on the patio with my husband. We had cold beer and delicious margaritas and a Caesar salad and carnita nachos prior to our entree and everything was great! I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the cheesy Flatbread chicken with pesto. So tasty and the staff are very kind and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to others!

I had my rehearsal dinner here for my wedding; we had a small hiccup to start but the team was fabulous and rolled with it! Jonacca was amazing, our server was spectacular- he stayed on top of 30+ people to make sure we all had what we needed, and the food was incredible. Highly recommended for anything from date night to larger gatherings.

The food was so good! I cant say that enough, excellent flavor and so filling. The waitresses were friendly, attentive, and wonderful towards my kids. I will 100% recommend and come back. Thank you for the great experience!

Just ordered soup and salad. The French onion soup was ok. The bread in it was very burnt. My last bite was not pleasant. Like eating charcoal. Salad was decent.

I was quite disappointed, I ordered the seafood norfolk and the fish was raw, shrimp was over cooked and the lobster stuffing was not cooked, the rice was cold. The waiter was friendly,. Prices are reasonable, if the food was cooked at least properly.

Had the filet mignon on New Years eve and wasnt impressed,it was done right but I dont think it was from the loin, not as tender as Ive had before.Waitress was awesome.

We had a dinner at lighthouse restaurant during Christmas holidays. Very nice place, beautifully decorated for holidays. Portions are large. Food is solid good. Well prepared steak and wild mushrooms were a win. If you are too picky maybe a bit salty but overall, still very well done. We had fried calamari for appetizers, steak and shrimp ravioli finished with pecan cheesecake. Coupled with a glass of vine we ended up with 96$ bill that is decent for a nice dinner. Definitely 5 stars for a comfort good food.

The restaurant is next to the Hampton Inn so it is a great choice for travelers, offering history of the area on the walls. The food was pretty good although the temperature consistency could be better (my rice pilaf was cooler than my chicken). The service was very accommodating.

My Husband and I decided after 35 yrs of cooking Thanksgiving dinner, we would go out for dinner. I can’t tell you what a wonderful surprise is was to have such a Fantastic Thanksgiving meal at this restaurant. Thank you sooo very much too for the wonderful Waitress we had, Alyssa, She was soo busy but never wavered in her smile and attention to detail, Thank you we will be visiting again……

We had a large family gathering at the Lighthouse last Thursday. The service was great and the food was delicious. We werent rushed which we all appreciated. Will definitely be back.

This place is so hit or miss lately. 2 weeks ago at lunch I had an absolutely delicious Ruben sandwich & great service. Today it took an hour to get 2 sandwiches to go. Weekends seem worse as far as service goes. My food was still good but needed to be warmed up as it took 10-15 minutes to cash me out.

Took 25 minutes for my salad to come out and 30+ for a burger with 2-3 other patrons. Expected fresh food for the wait...fries and burger were warm.. the burger was burnt. I ate everything cause I was hungry though. Will not be back. Nice waitress though.

We dined at the Lighthouse last night. My daughter gets married in a week and this was a little get together with her bridal party. My daughter made the reservation for outside seating for 530. We arrived on time and we were taken to our table right away. We were waited on promptly. Our meals did take awhile to receive them but we understand being short staffed. Our food did taste good once we received it but as time went on we were eating in the dark as the lights did not come on and it seemed like we had been forgotten. When our server did finally come out to clear our plates, I asked why the lights did not come on or why they had not been turned on. She responded that she only works on Saturdays and she was embarrassed to say she did not know how to turn them on. She gave us our checks without even asking if we wanted dessert. After waiting for awhile for her to collect our checks and cards, we finally went in and ended up waiting at the bar to pay and the lights were never turned on. We were,very disappointed.

Food was good Atmosphere was toxic. Got a very bad vibe from everyone there. Watched a very nice young lady get berated by her owner , manager not sure..

This place is just awful. My family and I had a reservation for 7:30 and we all sat down to eat. The water was the only thing that came quickly. At 8:45, only four people in my group received their food. At 9:00, three more people in my group were served. Being that we were a party of eight, one person had not received their food.My daughter had ordered the lobster mac and cheese and my mother ordered the chicken, rice, and broccoli. My daughter is now sick from the lobster mac and cheese. The pasta tasted funky and the lobster meat, far and few between, did not seem cooked. My mother’s chicken was tough and the rice was hard. Meanwhile, the last person in our group has still not received her food. Eventually, the waitress came over and said that they didn’t know if they had the mushroom ravioli, only to find it after. It also tasted very funky. When we inquired, there was no manager or owner on site.The restaurant itself is in desperate need of repairs. There were leaks in the tiles and the decor was very outdated. It should be noted that when we first arrived in Vermont, we couldn’t tell if this restaurant was open or closed.The only good thing about this experience was the wine. I don’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Service was slow and spotty to begin with but the food I thought was relatively pricey even for the area. I really thought the Montreal steak was a poor cut and cooked improperly making the price issue even worse. Beer was good and nice to eat outside.

I haf a reservation for 4:30pm. When our party of 4 arrived we were immediately seated. Server came took our drink and food orders. I order a starter of Buffalo wings which I did not get until we asked our server where they were. We were all finished with our dinners when the wings were finally brought out to us. The restaurant was not busy at all so Im still a little baffled on how the wings got lost.

This place is absolutely awful. The locals that leave positive reviews about this place must have never left their little corner of Vermont. Ordered an old fashioned and it was pure whiskey with an orange slice and a cherry. The steak was cooked to temperature but there was absolutely zero flavor to any of the food. Service was sub par. Decided to try a takeout burger and it was an undercooked piece of cardboard. Trust me, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. This is just an inflated land fill.

Bad experience! I’ve never felt the need to review any restaurant previously. I walked over from the Hampton Inn. I placed my to go order with the hostess at 6:40. ‘Chicken breast dinner, hold the rice, steam and double the vegetables please’. “20 minutes”. I returned 25 minutes later. Hostess, not sure, but she had to be new to her job and likely the language, had no idea where my order was. No less than four employees offered no assistance to her. She went to the bar and kitchen and returned both times with no food. The bartender ignored her. I followed her to the bar where I too was ignored as the bartender was too busy socializing with another employee. My food was found, I paid and left the restaurant 55 minutes after placing the order. The vegetables were sautéed in garlic, not steamed, the chicken was cold, the salad was tiny. Terrible in every way.No stars really.

Had the steak and cheese and lobster mac and cheese with lobster tail. Both were fantastic.Lots of lobster everywhere.Steak and cheese was very good a must try. Very tender beef. Onion and peppers were fresh. Not frozen.Great job.

Small but busy little bar/restaurant. Didnt try the food, but the drinks were good. Not very decorative, but a good place to get a quick drink. Menu didnt look outstanding though the food coming out looked good. Typical pub fare.

TERRIBLE! We gave this place a second try and it was a huge mistake. Terrible service. We were there for 30 minutes at out table with no water no waitress no acknowledgment that we were even there. 7pm on a Friday and there was very few people and no one had food. We walked out. The first time it was the same deal but we stayed and the food was mediocre at best. Stay away from this place. Mcdonalds is better.

I went to the lighthouse once a year ago. It took us an hour to get our food. The steak was okay and the seafood was great. We were never asked for drinks. We figured we’d give it a second shot tonight. Bad idea. We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation. But we weren’t sat until 10 minutes after our reservation. 20 minutes later NO ONE had spoken to us, brought us water, acknowledged our presence, or even looked at us. We left (and I’m not even sure anyone noticed we were goneThe poor host was clearly overworked and getting yelled at by his boss. It was uncomfortable and bad service. Will never go back again.

I have never done a review in my life but feel the need to as my husband is driving out of the parking lot. This place is horrible! The table when we were first seated dirty ! Crumbs, sticky and moved told the finish on the table is to blame... OK we order they screwed up my order completely I wanted fish but was given chicken then husband wanted medium rare but was given rare. Then we are sitting there watching them put a bag over the window to the kitchen and we were told its due to covid . Ummm what? Then a woman behind us is saying her stake is cold. Nasty!!!! Literally we travel all over before covid and never did I feel I need to warn about a restaurant. Trust me dont bother wasting your time or money on this dump!

Very comfortable... Not overly fancy but the staff (particularly at lunchare great. They could definitely use some updates to their glassware, menu (simplify with fresh ingredientsand lighting (too bright). Go for lunch not dinner.

We like the home cooking style comfort food. One caveat : do NOT sit near/in the bar area on Friday nights. It was busy/crowded with people not wearing masks and no social distancing while they were moving around. It was uncomfortable and so unfair to the staff.

First let me say that we frequently go here for lunch as both my husband and I have doctors appointments at UVM Medical Center. We and two men in the bar were the only people in there. We ordered nachos and cheddar fritters and the waitress (Bartender B )brought them and disappeared, I had to go find her and told her the nachos were overdone and cheese had come out hard. It was too late to order another. I finally said can we have some ranch to dunk them in. She brought it and again disappeared and we had to find her for the check. We told the gracious hostess who apologized and offered a gift certificate which we didn’t take. Not a very attentive waitress needless to say.

Im going to try and do this as respectful as possible. But for people who are looking for a new place to try and you check reviews this is for you. For starters they had an AC unit in the window of the restaurant. That should have been a clue. 2nd they had a bloody gorey movie on the tv’s. That didn’t really bother me but I know for some people that’s an issue. But let’s get to the food. I got the Alfredo with shrimp and chicken, which was 31$ at first I thought that was a tad pricy but whatever. So it comes with a salad and it come out with the most wilted grape tomatoes I’ve ever seen a restaurant willingly put on a plate. Seriously the type of wilted tomatoes you throw away in your own home the moment you see them. Then you get to the Alfredo and it had to be the worst Alfredo I’ve ever tasted. The chicken was so dry and charred that It was almost not edible. The sauce or lack there of was basically butter noodles with some Parmesan. I ate it only cuz I’m incapable of being a #karen at a restaurant. So I’m here writing this review instead. My buddy got the Philly cheesesteak and the steak was so black and burnt I could almost hear the cows tears from the grave. But I will say the fries might have been some of the best I’ve had so I guess fry lovers we found your place ! All in all left the place on a scale of 1-10 satisfied around a 2. And spent almost 50$ would have had a better experience at Applebee’s.

This place was amazing! Food and service.My husband got the prime rib and I got the special steak with risotto..... both cooked perfectly!We also had the calamari special appetizer which was outstanding with red sauce and balsamic..food is always our main review because we love to eat and it was perfect from salad to main course! Our waitress was ON POINT TOO! P--- you rock!!! Sorry cant remember if it was Peggy lol :-thanks for a great dinner!

So far the biggest menu since coming back from Covid. Grilled salmon was to die for, came with a huge side garden salad. Topped it off with a Switchback IPA. Perfect.Service was great too. We didnt have a reservation but the hostess took care of us.Just cant beat great food and even better hospitality. Well done.

We decided to eat here at the last minute and were not disappointed. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. Only downside - not very handicap accessible. Only booths on the main level, and the tables that could accommodate a wheelchair or power chair were up some steps and the ramp was extremely steep. Seems like a redesign is needed to be truly handicap accessible. Also the entry doors can not be opened by someone handicapped if they were alone. Bright side - best Cheddar Ale soup I have had!

This is a wonderful place for whatever you are craving from wings to a superb seafood dinner. My husband had the prime rib and i had the seafood Norfolk. Ohhhh the salad bar was phenominal it had everything fresh and the only problem is how to fit it all on your plate. The prime rib came out just the way it was ordered. My seafood was in a light sherry sauce cooked to perfection. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Just as we were finishing our salads our dinners came out piping hot. As it should be. Lets not forget dessert a light lemon cake that was sweet and light. If you truly want a wonderful dining experience check this one out. The prices are right and the portions perfect.

Great find visiting from out of town. Looking for a great spot and found it. Reasonably priced food was great and the salad bar WOW. And dont forget gina my server very sweet and did her job to the max...👍👍

Sunday brunch is hit or miss. Food is ok for bar food but nothing great. Atmosphere is nice and the salad bar is the hit of this place. Wish I could give it a better review as I have been here no less then 5 times.Drinks are good and they do have a good beer selection.

Pretty rustic and unique interior design of the restruant. On top of that - the staff was great and very quick. The salad bar is definitely up to par. The mussels appetizer was absolutely delicious - fresh taste with a delicious butter sauce. I will say that the main entrees were a little disappointing. I ordered a prime rib - which is primarily in the culinary world cooked to be tender and almost fall apart, my experience was opposite of that. The meat was actually very chewy and to the point where I had to spit it out. It was to much. The Au Juis was also kind of mediocre - not much flavor and a watered down taste. The mash potatoes were absolutely excellent though. I think that this place has potential but they have some very basic cooking techniques that they need to focus on.

Salad bar has a great selection of toppings and dressings. Appetizer was subpar. Broiled scallops were delicious as well as the sweet potatoes. An average seafood dining establishment. After dinner drinks hit the spot.
