79 Green Lanes, Newington Green, London N16 9BU, Azul
Ample, 19th-century pub with leather sofas and exposed brick, serving real ales and British food.
Ive been here a very quite saturday night to watcha a football match and have some drinks. Very nice space (pretty big), ideal for a bday party
We went for a Sunday roast and my God I will be back. Possibly the best roast potatoes I’ve ever had (don’t tell my AuntI want an extra bowl of them next roast. Deeeeeelicious!
Rather underwhelmed by the selection of beers on tap but the food looks good so will come back and try it sometime soon
Cool vibes in a lovely local. They play the sport too, if you like that kind of thing. Wonderful friendly staff.
The menu from the new head chef has really surprised me - it’s really creative and tasty, a mix of cultures and flavors which goes and in hand with a new great atmosphere of the pub! And if you’re Italian you have to go and try the panzerotti 🤤 be seeing you again very soon!
Jordan head chef is 🙏🙏🙏 Panzerotti is out of this world
Incredible tapas, very good looking staff. Would love to come again
Amazing service! Best team work! Excellent wedding day you guys gave us! Thank you
Really great pub! Great food and beers, excellent service with super friendly staff - special shout out to JP who is a legend and really accommodating!
Lovely staff! Had the Mexican burger- was delicious. Highly recommend!
Had a scrumptious roast last Sunday and I’m going back today! The chicken was perfectly cooked, so flavoursome and juicy. The roasties were lovely and crispy. The Bloody Mary is also an absolute must!
Have just had the most fabulous roast in this place. Totally amazing. Such a shame for them it was so quiet.
Had A Beautiful Evening… Thank You To The Amazing Jess… The Barmaid… She Was Beyond Helpful… Polite … And Nothing Was Too Much To Ask… Extremely Friendly… Will Be Back xx
Had a great time here 👍 Jess was extremely helpful. Drinks were great and music was amazing
Having been a chef for 13 years. I’m inclined not to leave a bad review as I appreciate how difficult a job this can be. However, I am genuinely embarrassed for the front of house staff having to work with kitchen staff so clearly incapable of doing their jobs.We waited over one and a half hours for our roast dinner to be served. A meal which should take minutes to serve as the majority of the food would have been cooked in advance. When the food finally did arrive, it was atrocious. A pork belly with 95% fat and chewy skin, couldn’t have been further from the ‘crackling’ that was described on the menu. Beef that was 80% gristle and completely over cooked and to top it off, the portions were tiny, vegetables badly cooked and the whole plate was deprived of the gravy it desperately needed to counteract how dry and flavourless it was.Further to this, my cauliflower cheese side dish was served to us with our starters…. 25 minutes before the disappointing roasts finally arrived….. 18 pounds for a roast as terrible as that is an absolute disgrace.I know that it is extremely hard to find chefs at the moment but let this review be a wake up call to the owners…. The writing is on the wall for The Leconfield if you don’t fix these problems.I will absolutely not be returning and I would advise anyone thinking about eating here to think twice. Don’t let the historical reviews that give this place its 4.3 star rating blind you.Worst eating experience I have had in a long long time and genuinely walked away feeling like I had been robbed by the owners.Do not go here.
A warm and welcoming family and dog friendly local pub. Great Sunday roasts by the fire, all the staff really friendly and helpful. I love this pub!
So disappointing. We had eaten here before but not for a while so thought wed go back. Wish we hadnt. Terrible service, cold food (dishes seemed to be left under heat lamps for a very long time). Food tasted as if it was reheated and when served various items were missing. Our mains also came before our starters were finished. Wont be eating here again unless something radically changes. Prices have also increased and I wonder if this is to try and compensate for a decline in customers, rather than fix the issues to encourage people to return.
Amazing Sunday roast. Great pub just a tad chilly inside if youre an Aussie in London.
Went there today as it has become our new local to try the Sunday Roast.First impression was great, looks nice, nice crowd and we were very welcomed despite not having a booking. We ordered the beef and chicken roast and the hoummus trio starter..after ordering I mentioned to the waitress that I am allergic to seafood just in case…she said “I can’t guarantee 100%”.. didn’t offer to speak to the kitchen or offer any kind of alternative or solution…seemed uninterested…I then cancelled my order but my partner had her roast which according to her was delicious…the starter was supposed to come with carrot sticks and breadsticks it came with only with 5 small pieces of bread…I complained they brought us carrot sticks but no breadsticks..I mentioned it and was told “we don’t have it”…no offer of alternative or solution…I had to ask for more bread…The service is appalling, no communication, no checking in…our cold starter took over 45 min to arrive…sadly not a positive or pleasant experience at all…good job to the chef Pedro who manages to somehow pull through as the place is seriously poorly managed…
Love this pub. We’ve had the most delicious roasts here… including the most amazing cauliflower cheese we’ve ever tasted. Cosy, friendly pub with lovely staff.
Very nice pub. We went there on a Monday and the staff were very friendly and food was great. With the fire lit it was perfect for a January evening 😀
Owner does share service charge among the staff. As customers you are fully entitle to decide to not pay for it. Then.. hygienic conditions are crazy...I worked in the kitchen..trust me. Horrible place.
Ordered a Sunday roast and it didnt come for 45 minutes then when it did it was cold. Asked them to heat it up and it took another 25 minutes. The beef was barely cooked too and was impossible to cut/chew. Pretty bad.
We came here last Sunday for an improtu Sunday Roast at 7.30pm. It was UNREAL! The food was awesome, and so competitively priced. My partner had 50/50 (beef and pork), and I had the veggie option (mushroom wellington). Both meals had all the trimmings, very happy, great staff/service. We will definitely return!
Very nice Sunday roast, cheesecake was soooo amazing. Cant say which was best the cheesecake or roast. All in all fab food
Thought I try out the Sunday to roast. Its not bad. The Yorkshire pudding could improve it was a bit stodgy and not crispy. You can probably tell by the rise of the pudding. The potatoes taste good but could be more crispy. The red cabbage was over vinegary. Broccoli needs to be cooked a tad more perhaps.I am very fussy with my Sunday roast so others may be absolutely fine. The staff is friendly, he did say it was the chef first Sunday roast.
I didnt like my steak - and they didnt ask me how I wanted it cooked so not great service either. And the surf (prawnswere overcooked. And they initially forgot the peas.
Really enjoyed the Sunday roast at the Leconfield pub!Came here with family and the staff were great with the kids, kept making sure all was well and did keep them entertained.Cocktails were strong but I quite liked that. The lamb roast was beautifully cooked with a huge Yorkshire pudding and condiments on the side.A bit pricier than what I would usually pay for a Sunday pub roast but brilliant service and good quality. Also had live musician playing which really complimented the ambience of this place. For more information about my visit here pleaseDm me on Instagram @sammiswintonIslington’s top 5% Google Local Guides
I went to The Leconfield to try the beef burger, and we had a very satisfying experience. Though at some point we heard a lot of swearing coming from a woman towards the chef, and this completely ruined the atmosphere. Truly a disappointing situation.
My partner and I went to eat there last Monday for the 2x1 burger offer. Our burgers were very tasty, Jessica the chef, really took the time to explain us all the ingredients and suggest the best options to choose from. We took a beef burger and the meat was perfectly cooked. We are definitely going to eat there for the Sunday Roast since Jessica told us being very good too!
Cosy and friendly pub that welcomes adults, children of all ages and pets. Nice food with vegetarian and vegan options. Sunday roast (best to book a tableand various quizz nights and events happening weekly.
The food is very good and well priced, add in great portions and you have a spot you’ll be happy with. The service was top notch and polite. Very good selection of beers and ales with beavertown headlining. The pub it’s self was bussing as it was Saturday night and it had a very friendly and joyful atmosphere so we will definitely be heading back here. Also very dog friendly as there were about 4 or 5 in there which was nice.
Lively pub and great for all sport, with tasty hot food available. Good cask beer and selection of wines. If youre an older drinker or a young family this pub uniquely caters for both. Its a wonderful convivial local!!
Absolutely amazing Vegan Roast!I would wholeheartedly recommend. The atmosphere and service was outstanding.Make sure you book as it’s a busy pub. Happy Sunday 😊
Best roast dinner I’ve had in a long time. Lovely fresh mixtures of cabbage and roast beef that cut through with a butter knife with no trouble. Props to the 2 members of staff who were running the whole pub on an extremely busy Sunday. However, due to their only being 2/3 staff members our starters and cauliflower cheese was missed off as well as drinks etc taking quite a long time to come. Hire more staff to not let this let your lovely food and very busy lovely staff down!
I have been here a couple of times. The most recent for Sunday lunch. It was not particularly busy, so surprised that it was a longish wait for food. The football was on the TV which was not a problem but could be worth checking as it may spoil the ambiance if you are eating for an occasion. Food was good. The Veggies with me loved their food. I had the beef which was a wee bit tough but still enjoyable. The beer was good (I had Landlordand there was a few choices - a lot of people were drinking Camden beer. Service was a bit odd, the waitress was good but bar service erratic depending on who the bar staff were talking too :). Overall 4.5 stars seems about right but its one or the other so I have went for four !
Great pub, good pub quiz, shows live sport, brilliant live music and delicious food all day. Staff are friendly too. Never too busy but also has a great atmosphere.Would definitely recommend.
Would love to see more craft breweries on tap, especially as there are so many in a 3 mile radius. Food was OK, chicken burger was a little on the dry side. Staff friendly and helpful
Large, open pub with plenty of tables for eating at and lots of large sofas. Good selection of beers. Its clearly also a good place to watch sport, with several large screens. We were there on a Saturday evening and a lot of people arrived to watch the boxing.
Beautiful atmosphere, tasty Sunday roast especially the 50/50 and the vegan one with chestnuts..Never thought vegan can be so good! Sunday live jazz in front of the fireplace in a freezing day! Just perfect! Staff really friendly and attentive! You guys just have made a new regular!
Love the roasts (particularly 50/50and love that it had never been too crowded to get a table. Live music is always nice and staff have always been friendly. Pub is also dog friendly and they offered us water for my dog when we brought her in. Nice place all around.
Friendly, welcoming staff and one of the best roasts Ive ever had. The 50/50 (half beef, half porkmeans you no longer need to choose between the two. Great Yorkshire puds, rich gravy. Overall, its a big thumbs up
The food was okay, couple of gripes bit bland though the sauces/dips covered well.Had 4 rounds of drinks and that more than doubled the price though. The booze was better quality than the food but the staff were lovely and attentive. If a little more effort into detail I.E make your own coleslaw could be great.Would go back for a drink but not sure about eating.
great selection of beers and 2-4-1 burgers on every monday
Best pub on the southern end of Green Lanes. I had a superb pint of New River (pub is close to the nearby New River walkon last visit. Slightly pricey but in excellent condition. Appears to be a good place to watch live sport, as it was largely full of Arsenal fans watching their team on TV. Busy but not overcrowded. Seems to specialise in home made burgers
Great live bands, fantastic atmosphere. Watch footy, play games, good food.
A great all-rounder. This pub serves very nice beer and enjoyable food (which has improved since a new chef came in), as well as showing all the football on numerous screens. Its a great local to have, although I wouldnt say it excels at any one thing. If you want to watch the football, there are other places in N16 that have more screens and the sound turned up. The food is very nice, but not quite gastropub fare. And this isnt really a destination for a night out drinking. If, however, you want to pop in for good food and good beer, with some sport on in the background, its a great choice. The staff are also very friendly and it never gets too busy.
Great for an event - recently had my 30th birthday drinks there. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic food, all cooked fresh (and you can really taste the difference). Paul and the team took really good care of our party the whole night. Top North London pub!
My local. Some of the best burgers Ive ever had (and I mean that- premium food comes with a premium price but there are offers on certain days to save you a few quid.Good range of beers, great vibe, decor, staff. Cant really fault it and Im getting thirsty writing this review.
Awesome pub. Great selection of ales, lagers and the food is really good too. The guys behind the bar and even the chef were super friendly and accommodating after we asked for random mixtures of pud! Sorry to be moving away today!
