Cosy, low-lit bar dotted with vintage items, serving spirits, single malt whiskies and cocktails.
For anyone who loves whiskey, cocktails or just a comfortable seat to enjoy a quiet drink this is the bar for you. Cant rate the passion and friendliness if the staff enough!!!
Great selection of whiskey and music was great.
Amazing staff. Very friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere and tasty cocktails!
Lovely staff, great cocktails, cozy venue
Very welcoming staff, really good cocktails and a nice atmosphere. Lovely spot. Will be returning
Lovely, cozy little pub with live music. Big club chairs, fireplaces and candlelight all around. Take your favorite girl and snuggle up in the corner table. Heaven.
Vibrant cocktail bar in the heart of Stockbridge, Edinburgh 🍹🏴
Such a cool place with an awesome creative drinks menu and really great service from knowledgeable staff.
The staff here is incredible. Nice and also complete experts. Awesome whisky selection
Great vibe and excellent drinks. Danny & Chuck are all-stars behind the bar. Highly recommend.
Fantastic whisky selection in Stockbridge area of Edinburgh. Staff were very professional. They even presented us with the bottles we were served with to give me and my friend a better understanding of drink options. Place has a great mood setting. With dim lighting and two lovely fireplaces with comfy seating infront of them. If you want a cosy place to snuggle up by a fireplace in a cold wintery night and read a book, then this the place to go.
Friendly and very attentive staff with a great knowledge of cocktails. The cocktails were very tasty as well.Definitely worth a look if you fancy a cocktail in the Stockbridge area
Really fun bar - entertaining staff and good drinks.
Had a great evening sampling the array of cocktails available at this fine establishment. Staff were extremely friendly and happy to explain the menu and to offer recommendations. 100% recommend if youre looking for an enjoyable cocktail with a date or a good few friends.
So cosy. A hidden gem and staff were incredibly kind and helpful!
One of the nicest bars in Edinburgh. Weve been fans for years, and were delighted to return on our recent trip. Very comfortable surroundings, excellent selection of drinks, great staff and stand up comedy playing in the toilets is a cute touch. Will definitely return on every visit to the city!
Nice and friendly staff. I liked the cocktail list. Did I mention that the staff were helpful and friendly?
Fantastic cocktails and the staff were great. They really knew everything and were great at suggesting drinks for our own preference. The confessional toilets are interesting as is the comedy show recordings. Will definitely be returning and bringing friends!
Great bar. Great cocktails. Very enjoyable evening in their company
Really cosy, candlelight for a touch of romantic atmosphere, super friendly and welcoming staff AND really impressive cocktails - its worth it to try them allCheers!
My Favourite cocktail bar without a doubt. Lovely atmosphere and unpretentious. A cosy fireplace is always a nice touch.
We had such a lovely evening at Last Word Saloon. We enjoyed every cocktail and were really impressed with the selection of spirits and the service. Highly recommended!
Jay and Ben were absolutely incredible tonight. So so friendly and helpful. Excellent vibes, cozy atmosphere and insanely tasty cocktails– literally we must have tried every one on the menu and they were all delicious. Thank you.
So cosy and relaxed. Amazing cocktails and helpful staff. Nice spot for a date. Its just great, one of my favourite places for a nice quiet drink.
Really nice, cozy spot in Edinburgh. Very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Delicious drinks - we had an Old Fashioned & the Honeydew and both were fantastic. Definitely worth a trip!
Fab candlelit basement bar with wide selection of cocktails, beer and spirits. We stopped for a drink today whilst passing by. Wish we had more time. The Bartender was friendly and our cocktails were lovely. We were lucky to have sat by the fireplace on a very cold day.
Best bar in Edinburgh. The optic Old Fashioneds are a dream, as is the cosy candlelit interior and super-friendly staff. Great location too, off the main tourist drag in a lovely corner of Edinburgh. Great cocktail menu with beers and wines too, so theres something for everyone. Faultless.
Visited here for after dinner drinks. Really welcoming environment, laid back with a cool vibe. The staff were great and there was a fantastic selection of drinks on offer. Well worth a visit if you are in Stockbridge or The New Town.
Inventive and tasty cocktails, fairly priced and a great selection of some lesser known whiskies and spirits. Very nice space to chat and have a few drinks, with attentive and experienced staff. Highly recommend!
Best and most beautiful bar Ive ever been to. Very knowledgeable and accommodating staff creating epically well made cocktails, and happy to discuss the origins and tastes of everything they sell. As its slightly out of the central area of Edinburgh, its a lot quieter than most on a weekend. Tasty bar snacks - we had everything on the menu! Eclectically decorated in a beautiful vintage style...low level lighting (mostly candles), 2 fireplaces, old leather seating, stag heads etc. Ridiculously huge range of spirits on offer...making for an interesting and inventive cocktail menu; though happy to make anything you require. The wonderful soul/funk playlist adds an extra level of awesomeness. Love, love, love this venue.
One of the waiters overcharged me after clearly telling him how much my bill was. Saying out loud “fifteen” once (not twiceended up “fifteen pounds and fifty pence” on my statement. Shame because the place offers yummy and affordable cocktails. Real fireplace also adds magic during winter!
Great neighbourhood bar, causy spots by the fire, with great whisky selection and knoledge all around!
it was our Intention to have only one last drink, but a few hours and several cocktails later we left this amazing gem! The Bartender Simon entertained us with great drinks, knowledge and tips of where to go and what to see. A must visit place for drink enthusiasts and people seeking a classy and stylish bar with a great atmosphere... Ps: keep your ears open the restrooms as you might come out with a massive smile on your face!
Nice place located in a quieter part of town. Good place to enjoy a drink
This spot is my favourite bar in Edinburgh! It is always cosy with a fire going and candles burning all around. The staff are nice and always ready with a recommendation. The cocktails are phenomenal and really incredibly inventive. My personal favourite though is the break even bottle where each month a nice bottle of whiskey is sold essentially without any mark up making it cheaper to test for your average soul! The nights there is music playing here are really brilliant too!
Had an incredible night here last year, the place is truly brilliant. Apart from serving amazing cocktails, The Last Words also unbeatable when it comes to ambience and helpful bar staff. Ill definitely visit again.
This is my personal local.I absolutely encourage my Airbnb guests to come here. I live 5 minutes walk away.It is actually a great place to come for a date. It has two very nice real open coal fires. Good decoration on the walls. Thinks like antlers on the walls, thick green painted walls and lots of candels. There is a great selection of cocktails. It actually describes itself as a "Cocktail Saloon". There is also wine/beer. Gin and Tonics etc. The beer is actually surprisingly reasonably priced. When I go in there for drinks with a male friend and we just drink beer after about four beers each the bill only ever comes to £20 something pounds TOTAL.The staff are extremely polite and friendly. It has quite an informal but welcoming atmosphere. They serve yo drinks at your table. Bring you free water. Frequently ask if you would like another drink. Very good service. Lots of candles and two open fires.A touch I like is that they always comedy playing on the radio in the loos. Usually someone like Eddie Murphy or Richard Pryor. As mentioned earlier; it is great bar for couples. Music, but quite enough to chat. Very good drinks menu. Very friendly. You can usually get a seat, but does get busy on Thursday/Friday/Saturday so worth getting there early if you want to make sure you get a seat. The staff work very hard and bring you drinks. They dont ask for a tip, but I think 10-20% tip is what I would personally encourage my guests to leave. As said before; they are very friendly, the staff work hard and drinks are not expensive.
YES, I knew a place like this exists and now I have found it - or rather YELP found it for me - we were invited to taste the Botanic gin cocktail that this place conjures up.I was instantly wowed by the cosiness and the available space. It has this "front-room of a rustic Country Inn" feeling - big raised wooden farmer table in the middle - 2 reception rooms with a roaring fireplace in each and can be divided by a heavy velour curtain. This place is an addition to my "How my future dream house should look " scrapbook. The tables had these oil lamps that my wife particularly fancied. (scrapbook again)The staff at the bar are efficient, very friendly and able to explain the cocktails while preparing them. The staff on the floor are discreet and almost not seen, but suddenly your table is cleared of glasses and some nibbles appeared - I like that.I was explained that the 2 barrels on the bar contained drinks - so on request they can serve this to you - and that was the best tip ever. The smaller contained a whisky blend (dunno which ones but very smokey and aged!and the bigger has a sloe gin. - They are known as a "Living Spirit" I think - anyway it is their own creation and I love it.This place encourages conversation about who is having what cocktail and what they think about it. I am not to keen on cocktails, I like my drinks simple and recognisable, bit after reading their list, seeing the craftsmanship in creation and tasting a few .. I was a bit upset that I had to work the next day otherwise I would have tried many many more.to my friends reading this and thinking of visiting us - yes we will take you to this place :o promise!
Nice cocktails which are reasonably priced with a really good vibe and friendly staff. We felt the menu could be slightly bigger though as there were only four long cocktails on there. Perhaps the addition of a few old staples wouldnt go amiss ie mojito or daiquiri
Last word is one of my all time favourite cocktails, so of course I wanted to try this bars take on it... I asked prior to ordering to check it was not sweet and the waitress said it was dry and not sweet. It was incredibly sweet and unbalanced, tasted as if the lime was a cordial- like an artificial sweet lime flavour. I added the pill as instructed, It didnt dissolve properly, it actually made it worse. Awful mouth feel. Undrinkable. When we finally got the bill my drink was as pictured- hardly touched and they didnt even ask how it was. The water service was good.
The cocktails were delicious and I loved how knowledgeable the staff were. The woman who served us gave great advice and helped me to choose a cocktail to match my tastes. You can tell they go the extra mile here to provide drinks and flavour combinations that are really special.
Good range of spirits, its not too loud and the service was very good (one waitress doing table service for the whole place, she was amazing). Ive seen better cocktail menus, but dont think that would put me off coming back.
Really good neighbourhood cocktail bar. Staff are very friendly and the cocktails are delicious. Great place to sit in front of the open fire on a cold/wet/most Edinburgh night.
I think we waited so long to try out the Last Word Saloon because of its name, which to me invokes Old West gold rush watering holes full of cowboys and corseted hookers and jugs of alcohol labeled XXX and old toothless guys playing piany. (For the record I didnt actually suspect Edinburgh of having a bar like this, but rather a cheesy theme-bar in this vein, which would be infinitely worse. Or now that I think about it, perhaps not actually all that bad?Its positive reviews finally convinced me to wander down the stairs and give it a try, and Im so glad I did. What a delight! Dark and cozy and romantic and pretty, all rolled into one. Tasty cocktails at reasonable prices. Friendly service. Giant fireplace. Not a cowboy in sight. Weve been back many times.
Popped in for a cocktail with friends before heading out to dinner. Excellent personal service from the start. Great selection of cocktails from the simple to the complex. Not overwhelming like some cocktail bars can be. Tried a range of cocktails. All delicious. Dangerous!! Ill definitely be back to try more and enjoy the great atmosphere again.
This dark and moody cocktail bar is perfect for a cocktail with friends anytime. Based in a basement in Stockbridge, the staff is super friendly, drinks are fab (if youre looking for something sweet, go for a White Horse cocktailand the decoration is gorgeous.
Love it - not as much as I love its little sister Lucky Liquor, but almost as much. The cosy interior makes it the perfect place for a warming winter tipple that is prepared with care by very knowledgeable staff. I love the cocktail that tastes like a chocolate orange - made with chocolate rum, yum yum!
from the Bramble and Lucky Liquor Family, you know you are in for amazingly made cocktails and knowledgeable staff. The dark, atmospheric interior adds loads to it. It is a shame the last word is not more central. Menu is varied and extensive but the bar staff will happily serve you something to your measure if you ask nicely.
A snug, dark stylish and cosy bar with a great cocktail menu and attention to detail with the drinks. Enjoyed a delicious espresso cocktail. The style and of volume of the music on a Saturday night was a bit too loud for our group though, and did nt gel with the ambience of the decor.
Great atmosphere and decor. Staff attentive and passionate about the drinks and cocktails they have on offer, which are regularly updated and rotated. Great for a quiet drink in front of the fire or for a fancy cocktail with friends.Never disappointed.
