The Landis Taipei in Taipei
Description
Landis French restaurant was fantastic, I highly recommend this place, great French Onion soup and tomato soup, fresh baked Baggett.
MoreWe are officially hotel jumpers. We have been to no less than 15 hotels in Taiwan. Landis is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are nice and clean with a comfortable bed. The breakfast is not the routine buffet which was a breath of fresh air.. We had a choice of western or eastern style. Both were excellent. The workout area is on the roof top. There is a one person dry sauna in the changing room. The view from the roof is spectacular. However, the small sauna and changing room indicates this is not an important amenity to the hotel. While we really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is a little pricey for those on a budget. We took advantage of the birthday promotion. When I talk to reception about pricing they mentioned their specials. So be on the lookout for specials. We will.
MoreI wouldnt say this is a 5 star hotel (about 4 star), but still a very comfortable place to stay.Pros:(1Rooms have great soundproofing.(2Staff is very helpful whenever you need anything.(3The bed has moderate firmness and is quite comfortable.(4They provide air purifier, humidifier and hypoallergenic linens if needed.(5Room amenities can be controlled with an iPad. There is a bathtub in every room.Cons:(1Room and bathroom are a little small and feel congested.(2During peak season(s), it might be overpriced for what you get.(3The Sony Smart TV has great capability but unfortunately the cable provided is embarrassingly low quality (~360p). I watched 1080p Netflix and PrimeVideo without issues but the cable TV made the live sports games unwatchable for me...(4The AC doesnt go lower than 18°C. This is OK but it takes longer to cool down the room.(5There is no easy access to a microwave. The staff is helpful when you need to reheat something but I wish there was a small self-serve micro-kitchen in the common areas, since several hotels in Taiwan have it.(6The WiFi is fast enough for most people but could still be improved. I got around 20-30M throughout my stay, but Id expect ~100M for a seamless experience. For some software engineers/designers, it might be too slow.
MoreAlthough it doesn’t have splendid outlook, the internal looks classic though not grand. The food is delicate and small. They are probably not cheap. The WiFi speed is a little too slow for such hotel hope they can upgrade it
MoreThe room is great and quite, staffs are friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient to go anywhere in Taipei city, I had already stayed 14 days so far and keep going.... cheers!!
MoreThis hotel does not maintain its highest standard service quality like before. It’s a shame that further plan to stay in this hotel will be not considered.
MoreThis hotel has two very good restaurants, one is 天香樓 (please see my photos), the other is PARIS 1930. 😘
MoreGo for the modern rooms like 1208. The larger rooms are old and needs updating.Manager of the Brasserie, Sih Han, is a superb example of 1st class service.
MoreOur stay was great. The staff were very attentive and helpful to meet our needs at all times. We will definitely stay again at the Landis Taipei on our next trip to Taipei!
MoreTop notch service. Our room wasnt ready when we arrived , chris was so nice to put us in the pub. He came in person to notify us when the room was ready.Close to metro station only a few mins walk.Plenty of restaurants around.Great location.Spotless room highly recommended.
MoreFor a 5 star hotel, this is reasonably priced and in a convenient location near the MRT and not far from the Zhongshan area. It has a gym but no swimming pool.
MoreVery clean. People are very nice.Close to anywhere, many choices for food. We even walked to 中山station .
MoreVery classy place, and staff are very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping is fantastic. Though the first night there were some power line maintenance so there was some issues with the lights in room. My second time staying here, still feel impressed by the service level. But overall, really pleasant stay.
MoreI am not a fan of old style hotel but I have no complain about Landis especially after its 2018 renovation. Definitely top notch in Taipei.
MoreIt was a very good stay. we spent 2days. There were a bathtub, shower room, and big mirror. The staffs hospitality were amazing. Location is also good. There are a station and a big bus stop so we can go to Taipei station and airport easily.
MoreSpacious room, we stayed in the executive suite. Excellent service. The room is controlled via an Ipad (lights, heat etc. And room service can be ordered through the same Ipad. Big bed ( a little bit hard ). Ordered room service and it was good food.
MoreThe Tien Hsiang Lo Chinese restaurant in The Landis Taipei is a one Michelin star Chinese restaurant which serves very nice Chinese food and has a great ambience. Service is very prompt and friendly.
MoreA city hotel, famous with great service. The Chinese restaurant 天香樓 on second floor is listed Michelin 1 star. The Paris 1930 is a great one too.
MoreRoom wasn’t very large but the quality of everything was great. Nicely appointed. Loved the breakfast, especially with a made-to-order main dish.
MoreTop rate. Great service and the newly refurbished standard rooms are very good. I also had a suite a couple nights, was more than I needed but was also very good. Nothing to complain about. Would stay here again if ever back in Taipei.
MoreI had one of the most comfortable stay at the Landis Hotel. The room was modern and clean, and the staff were most caring and kind.
MoreAlthough this is an old hotel building, and the location is relatively far from the city centre, we thoroughly enjoyed the friendly and professional services provided by all the hotel staff. its a great feeling to be greeted by a fully uniformed doorman as you enter the hotel followed by many smiling faces of the front desk staff. The room is very clean with full amenities provided and replenished daily. There is a big gym with good facilities. The staff will go the extra mile to meet your requirement. If you desire a home away from home accommodation, Landis Taipei is highly recommended.
MoreThe hotel is conveniently located between two subway stations, both within a 5 minutes walk. There are also plenty of restaurants in the area offering typical local food or high end Japanese food. The Landis Hotel was already in service when I first visited Taipei back in 1978 and it has been renovated recently to display a contemporary style. I particularly like the lighting in the rooms as with all lights turned on, the room is brightly lit and very suitable for one to work at night. The staff are friendly and helpful. As a Catholic, I had to fast on Ash Wednesday so I did not take the breakfast option. However, the experience I have had in my previous stays were the food offered in the buffet breakfast are mainly western style so compared to other hotels, the choices are a bit limited. If the hotel can offer some Chinese food such as congee, then I would have more satisfaction and less complaint.
MoreBeautiful medium sized five star hotel, equipped with modern cozy furniture and beautiful bathroom, with bathub and modern warm jet spray closet, king size bedroom and complete pretty stationery.. located near by Zhongshan Elementary School - Red Line MRT, just in front of McDonald and Banks, near by also family mart, and last not but least, the warm staff, make it as convenience stay in Taipei
MoreAs it is a former Ritz hotel the quality is very high. Nice foods, and kind people. If it was good enough for an American president, I think it could be good enough for everybody.
MoreGreat customer service, big rooms, fantastic bathroom amenities which can be compared to Japans standard, TV with great selection of channels to watch. However, location slightly away from all the hustle and bustle, best to visit if you rent a car.
MoreThis is my first time stay in The Landis Taipei. Personally, I really like service of this hotel because they took care of the room really nice espectially the maid.I booked Superior room and stayed on 12 floor where is top floor. When I opened the door and looked at my bed. I saw letter told me who was took care of my room for cleaning. There is stationary same as other 5 stars hotels. For bed, there are 4 pillows for me to used which I think they are different type of pillow. Bed sheet was clean and not too soft. Most of hotel now used smartphone, The Landis Taipei hotel also use it to control the room. I really love to play it. I can control AC by just click on tablet, Turn on-off the light by one click. There are various kinds of fun thing inside this tablet control such as ask hotel to bring doll, fish tank for you, extend more night by booking online, book car service and etc.Bathroom and restroom are in the same room but seperate the shower area. The toiletries are under the name of hotel unlike the other hotels. (Mandarin oriental Taipei, W hotel, Crystal Hotel Resort SML, Palais de chine, Shangrila, these hotels used luxury toiletries brand). However, when I tried soap the scent was really nice and decided to brough all of toiletries home. For breakfast, my friend who booked room for me highly recommend this. Unfortunately, I was not admired breakfast of this hotel. There was not much food to choose. The taste was okay.
MoreI thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Landis. The customer service was exceptional, rooms were very comfortable and clean. I loved the facilities and delicious breakfast.I would most definitely stay at the Landis again.
MoreGood business hotel in Taipei city. I stayed there 2 nights and it had all you could ask for the price. Clean rooms and bathrooms with good breakfast buffet. The service is also efficient. Only drawback no nice view from the room.
MoreWe arrived a bit early at noon time and room was not ready (which is reasonable). So we left the luggages to the hotel staff which they told us they would move them to the room when the room is ready. But then when we came back in the late afternoon to get the room access key, we found the luggages were still kept in lobby. We didnt suffer any lost, just a bit shocking things didnt happen as we were told.
MoreI has a good suite, but no hot water in the room. The location is fairly inconvenient for being so close to central Taipei, being rather far from MRT stations. Views on rooms facing north are ok, but nothing spectacular.
MoreI bad stayed in the Landis couple of months back when I was in Taipei. The location of the hotel is pretty good but I did not like the hotel much. Since I was doing early check ins ...I had been given one handicapped room even with extra charge since no other rooms as per them was available. The room was very tiny, did not like at all.
MoreGreat hotel with the excellent service and nice restaurants. The only one problem is lack of a big parking. Car parking service is available, but parking lot is obviously too small
MoreRooms are midsized and well appointed. Elegant and classy hotel overall. Breakfast was a nice mix of Asian and Western foods
MoreThe room was spacious and had everything we needed and more! Every staff member we met there were helpful and always friendly. They would always clean our room everyday regardless how late we left the room. Breakfast there was delicious and had a lot of variety. Finally, the hotel is located in a very convient area so we could walk around and explore easily. Would love to stay at Landis again in the future when we visit Taipei again
MoreWe received a superior service in this hotel. The room we received was very good with a great view over Taipei. Every time we asked for help, our request was answered to put full satisfaction. The location is not the most fashionable place in Taipei, but very it was conveniently close to a Taipei Metro station, a temple, a large bookstore and many small shops.
MoreThis was an excellent hotel. It is just a short walk to one of the main lines of the MRT. My favorite part of the hotel was the fitness center on the 13th floor of the hotel which had a sauna that reached extreme temperature and a steam shower with cold towels and free water bottles and towels. The tv in the room included HBO, netlfix and youtube.
MoreGreat hotel for the money. Great location for enjoying the local restaurants and tea shops. The staff couldnt be more helpful. Decent but small rooms. The gym is adequate. Enjoy the views from the sundeck on the 13th floor. Watch your head going through as there are some low beams.
MoreI love that they surprised me with a birthday cake on my birthday! They take note of the details 😍 Excellent service! Staff are polite and accommodating!
MoreGreat family hotel with a lovely sit down breakfast and a terrific welcoming staff. Great English speaking support for my stays in Taiwan.
MoreI’ve been staying at the Landis Taipei for about ten years, and even get a “Welcome Back Sir!” As I arrive. It’s like a home from home. Initially selected because it was close to the offices of a supplier, it was chosen time and again because of consistency! The rooms are ALWAYS clean and comfortable, ample (if not spaciousbathrooms spotless, and with the recently updated rooms, stylish. Beds are very comfortable! Rooms always have tea and coffee available, free fruit, and snacks (at a modest price). And yes, I’ve tried many other Taipei hotels, but I keep coming back to the Landis, for the SUPER professional, helpful, courteous, polite staff, and great food in the hotel Restaurant, including a great breakfast buffet, and the location.By the way, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and even foot massage, etc. Great little Beef Noodle places near by! :-))Prices are reasonable for Taipei, and the value is good. If you’re going to Taipei, give them a shot, and maybe they’ll be your home from home too!
MoreGreat hotel with wonderful staff. We especially loved the fresh fruit they provided in the room each day. A nice way to have a simple breakfast.
Moreby today hotel standard, it should be at most 4star or 3.5star, service staffs are ok.Breakfast, i guess they could do better, room wise is ok but need renovation badly.
MoreBigger room offers separated entry way and baths. Very spacious.Very pro. Staff. Carrefour close by walking distance.
MoreNice hotel, conveniently located, within 5-10 minutes walk to either stations. Many restaurant options nearby, not located in a touristy area and hence can enjoy some quiet moment around. Service is extremely good.
MoreI stayed 7 nights and it felt like a home more than a hotel thanks to the efficiency and kindness of all the staff. The Brasserie restaurant staff and the doormen are fantastic and so helpful. The room was perfect very clean and spacious .Conveniently located close to an MRT station and 15mn by taxi to the National Palace Museum.Would love to come back!
MoreThe stay was pleasant, as always. Ate at the Brassierie one evening, something I dont ordinarily do and the meal was good. Breakfasts were good. Staff are always very friendly and helpful.Room is nice and well maintained. Public areas are beautiful.
MoreI checked in the hotel and was given a very nice room overlooking the park behind the hotel. Besides very quiet, the room was complete in all (it did take a while to figure out the lighting system). My only negative comment was the breakfast. I thought that the variety of food and its quality were less than I would have expected..
MoreWas there for two nights in summer 2016. Overall it was below my expectation. DON T do late check-in for your first visiting. The hotel tried to contact me after one month of my stay, but due to bad reception, we couldnt finish the call. No further contact since then. The breakfast was good btw.
MoreOur trip into Taiwan was not an ideal one after our luggage broke and then spending ages just trying to get out of the airport only to find ourselves stuck in a traffic jam. However the check in to the hotel was so smooth. They assisted with getting our luggage repaired. Arranged everything! Then showed us to our room (something hotels dont seem to do any more. Basically they gave us a good introduction to Taiwan after a bad start. The room itself, although not large, was comfortable with all the amenities you need including FREE WI FI! Big tick for that! I was able to set up my base station (PC, Tab and mobile phoneand get all my gadgets on the charge with the universal charger. Just a word of advice to make sure you check if your device can take both 110 or 240 volts or you may find yourself frying your charger!Prices are reasonable for the snack bar so the beer got devoured quickly but of course youll get this much cheaper by venturing out on the street. Speaking of the street below your view is of a bustling intersection which is entertainment in itself to watch all the near misses with Taipeis crazy motor action. But the double glazed window blocks out any sound so even if a pile up occurred youd be still fast asleep! For what you get the price is reasonable (AU$120 per night or thereaboutsand youre located right in the thick of Taipeis busy restaurant area.Oh... last thing. The counter staffs English was excellent so westerners neednt worry about language barrier here.
