Traditional Georgian pub, former haunt of Charles Dickens, once known for bare-knuckle fights.
Great for lunch. The upstairs dining room has a beautiful aspect looking over the market. Traditional and up market pub food with very good service.
We came here expecting a simple meal, after canceling a reservation at a "notable British institution".because we were too jet lagged to bother with a taxi to dinner. We were blown away by the quality, creativity, and spectacular service. While sold out of many of our first choices (we got there late), they bent over backwards to get us what we wanted.Excellent lamb and steak. But the mike drop moment came with our last minute decision to order side dishes. My potato dauphinois came looking like a neat square serving of potatoes. First bite was astonishing. Possibly the most delicious potato dish Ive ever had. Thats all Im going to say, other then finding out it takes them 24 hours to prepare. My friend ordered a side of tomatoes. What arrived was a simple dish with a bunch of plump cherry tomatoes on the vine. Well, I thought, thats the epitome of "phoning it in." And then we tasted it. !!!! Sautéed in butter? Olive oi? Just until softened but not bursting and sprinkled with flaky salt. Each bite was a flavor bomb. If Michelin ever decides to visit (unlikely because it seems so unprepossessingboth these items would be listed as honorable mention.I cant say enough about the high level of cooking and service going on in this little corner of Leadenhall Market. At first glance it looks like just another tavern thronged with Fleet Street happy hour goers. But look under the cover and you find more than one diamond in the rough.
-Busy pub in the evenings.-Great Vibe-Surrounded by great architecture at the leadehall. Also ensures you wont get wet when it does rain. Plus its well lit in the evenings if you chose to stand outside
Great English pub in Leadenhall Market. Gets crowded after five with all the blue suits from the financial district. Don’t forget to find the Blue Door Harry Potter fans just around the corner. But look for white.Nice selection of beer, great service, amazing location, and plenty of seating both inside and out. Cant go wrong.
Super lovely, super chill, very friendly and well informed staff. The beef wellington, and sticky toffee pudding were super tasty. And both the dauphinoise potatoes and chips are a solid choice. Lots of suggested wine pairings if youre into that, regular lemonade and coke etc if youre not.Although very relaxed atmosphere, theres still big leather chairs and a touch of class. Also recommend a table by the window if you like nice views +/people watching
We stopped in on the day of the Queens funeral and the only.food they had was sausage and potato. Totally understandable under the circumstances.
Attended a wedding reception over the weekend, had a great day, food was amazing (Shout out to the Lamb Shank!and everything was well organised. Well done team 👏
Fantastic pub and great food. Great view. Very nice bar staff. I will be back next time I am in London..
Almost what I would call an old fashioned style pub. Lots of features and good variety of drinks.
Walking past the sign said “Join us this bank holiday” and the doors were wide open. I examined the menu and decided to eat here, I walked almost all the way up the stairs to be told they aren’t serving food yet (I have an invisible disability which makes stairs a struggle). I was told to go back to the bar to grab a drink until they were ready to serve food went to the bar and no one was there. The staff were rude and unhelpful. I left because the first impressions were terrible, staff need to be more polite and maybe add to the sign outside what time you’re actually open or keep the door closed until you’re open. I was going to spend at least £75 but that doesn’t matter.
Really friendly staff with a nice pint of London original pale ale (or 2). Beautiful location in Leaden Market (Harry Potters Real Dragon Alley). Enjoy the atmosphere with a touch of London (upstairs with bags of comfort). Downstairs is a secret whiskey tasting bar with an amazing story behind the cellar bars name. Look around for the text on the wall explaining its origin (special in its own right). I always wanted to taste a dram of Japanese whiskey. I could have spent the whole day there soaking up the experience.
Smallest gents toilets in the world but thats just part of the charm.Top spot for a pint after work
Great Youngs pub in Leadenhall Market. Traditional old style boozer with no frills.
Lovely old pub in a beautiful location. We went there for Sunday lunch - I had Beef Wellington with a side of Dauphinoise potatoes. The beef, vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy were delicious and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately the roast potatoes werent crispy so that was a disappointment. The service was also extremely patchy. We had to order our drinks twice, then they brought a Sauvignon blanc when we ordered a Pinot Grigio. Other tables were having to re-order several times too. For one table the starters arrived before their mains so they put the starters under the heat lamps for a long time.
Great pub, though pretty damn busy.
Super nice bartender. When you get there and everything is closed, just get a beer and stare at the ceiling like I did
Lovely old pub, worth a visit and good range of beers
I tried the lamb kidney bread, it was honestly absolutely amazing and I’ve been coming back to the restaurant a lot just for it! Strongly reccomend if you like the flavour profile of kidneys or liver !!
The location is stunning, it goes without saying, and the food is way above average, but the real upside is the service. The lady who assisted us in the wonderful dining room upstairs was warm, welcoming, friendly and kind.
Great emplacement and really nice pub, good beer, great food with high quality ingredient, understandably a bit pricey.
Impressive pie but the service was slow (despite it not being busy at all). If you’re looking for a quick bite pass… but the pie was amazing!
Lovely place, I asked to taste a beer and they gave me a quarter pint, I only went in for a half ☺️
Very cool history setting in Leadenhall market - great selection of beers, wines and spirits and fantastic service.
Lovely meal, Cumberland sausages were lovely, full of flavour but tbh wished Id had the pie!! Others had fish and coronation chicken salad with absolutely no complaints. Good wine list too.
Great pub, dining room upstairs was well appointed and the food and service was excellent
Great pub in the middle of the city... inside the Leadenhall Market (which is not a market anymore). I only went for some drinks with a friend and we had a really nice time. We sat upstairs inside the pub, but it was absolutely lovely. We had a lovely experience with the bar staff, as it was on the quieter side and they were able to talk to us and give us their full attention. We were very happy to be here and experience this.
Decided to call in as it was a nice day and there was outside seating. The one bar tender was busy making 2 cocktail type drinks but as there was only one other guy waiting I joined the queue. After serving the gent she then decided to have a conversation about going from 5 staff to just herself. Im still waiting. She then turns round just as 2 businessmen walk in, she totally blanks me and serves them. Thats when I left. Obviously businessmen are more important than the ordinary Joe. Of course they are, its all expenses. Still doesnt excuse the fact they should serve in turn. Will NOT be going back. If its aimed at business people then bloody well state that
Popped in for a drink. Good beer selection and the loos were clean. Friendly bunch behind the bar.
Friendly staff. Not much seating & got a little cramped, but a nice little pub
Nice to visit the pub I used to frequent when I worked in the City 15 years ago. Nothing has changed. Good beer and great food.
Food, service and the views from the dining room windows are great. Especially the ox cheek pie was really delicious
Food was good - nothing stunning but good for the price in central London. The service was a bit slow. The guy on was good, but it felt understaffed (upstairs dining roomand the poor guy missed cues and forgot things like water. Solid, but nothing extraordinary.
A Youngs Pub inside an atmospheric market. It sells traditional British pub food such as sausage rolls and scotch eggs served on wooden boards. It sells cask beers from the Youngs range as well as several macro lagers. If youre looking for an atmospheric, traditional British pub that sells cask youll enjoy yourself here. If youre more of a beer geek there are other pubs that will better serve your needs.
A good pub (with decent sized upstairs seating areain an historic setting. Good range of beers and friendly staff.
Great restaurant / pub in Leadenhall Market. If you dine in their restaurant and sit next to the window you get a great view of the market. We thought the food and service was very good. We tried the gnocchi, fish and chips and sausage.
Because I love this market I was especially looking forward to have Sunday roast at this pub(seeing photo of what they offer on the Instagram). To make sure we phoned in the morning and we were told that it is on the menu. But when we got there person behind bar they arent, then another person came out and told us they are. But there are no space to seat..They didnt suggest maybe have a drink and wait to see if we can be seated in time or anything like that, just made us very unwelcome and didnt care. Very very disappointed.
Had a Christmas get-together here in late November. This is a traditional City of London boozer and has a fantastic ambiance. We had a table on the third floor for six of us. All had three courses that were superb and those that had the rabbit pie were still talking about how good it was the next day. To add - the service was outstanding! We all ate and drank heartily for about 6 hours and the staff never missed a beat when it came to replenishing drinks or any other needs. You turned a good day into a great day - thank you!
I had the loveliest meal here, and the staff were so nice! It was a great place to relax and take my time with my meal. The pub is very lively and yet the upstairs dining room is quiet and intimate. I’d come back here either for a nice romantic meal or a loud night out with friends. Everything was delicious.
Great location, beautiful surroundings what more could I say...... the basic requirement is somebody who knows how to look after the beer technically and from a supply chain point of view I.e they have what they display. I was looking forward to a well kept pint beer, but ended up with Birra Morretti because its difficult to screw that up. The staff were very nice and only charged me for a half after two failed attempts at pouring, Camden Pale and A Neck Oil. Its a real shame, maybe I was just unlucky. So I give them the benefit of the doubt with a neutral review.
We popped in unexpectedly on Sunday and had Sunday roasts and fish & chips. Great quality food, friendly service & a lovely setting. We shared the fish & chips across our 3 and 5 year old and the portion was plentiful, keeping their hanger at bay.
Fantastic Ledenhall Tavern...pub food and draft pints. Worth a stop at the end of the work day or anytime.
We held our wedding reception at the Lamb Tavern after falling in love with Leadenhall Market and the pub itself. We had to postpone the wedding three times due to Covid but the team at the lamb were accommodating the whole way through. I honestly couldn’t praise the staff enough on the day, they were brilliant, even up until the 2am finish and the food was delicious! Thank you so much for making our day extra Special!
Stopped here for a couple of drinks before going to the sky garden, good service and nice selection of IPA on tap. Friendly staff and quick at collecting glasses, didnt order food but what I saw being brought out looked good. Nice atmosphere outside, mostly office workers having after work drinks.
Had drinks here for my partners surprise 30th. My sister arrived early to set up the cake and balloons. Jack was super helpful and accommodating. We stayed til close & felt very welcomed. Couldn’t fault them. Beautiful venue fantastic team. We will come back whenever we’re in the area!
Amazing Sunday Roast in a Proper Vintage London Pub. Great Service 😃
The Lamb Tavern has stood in this spot in Leadenhall Market since 1780. It’s a lovely, grand pub / dining room over three floors, with drinkers spilling out onto the covered, cobbled market street. The clientele is primarily suited City workers - so always very busy on weekday lunchtimes and evenings. The venue can also be hired at weekends for weddings etc.The food is mainly upmarket British classics and is very good. Had a team Christmas lunch here a few years ago and we were very well catered for. Would thoroughly recommend.
Fantastic pub and service! Great beers, tasty food and really friendly staff. We had a minor issue with food but it was handled so professionally and sorted with speed (exactly what you want - a pub that cares!). Will absolutely be coming back here for drinks and dinner - and recommending to friends! Cheers!
Nice and traditional English pub. Beer was really good!
Excellence comes to me often by accident. We came in today for a few beers. Went upstairs for a wonderful long lunch Our waitperson (waitwomenDebbie was awesome. In fact the best on this trip. We had a leisurely luncn. Travelling in England and Hungary just finding a place to sit and get a little bit of service can be a task. Most places you pay at the best bar when ordering, which is totally fine.Debbie offeres us service just when we needed it, we were exhausted. More so totally friendly, genuinely concerned and awesome at her job and for her company. The Lamb was more then I was expecting. Situated in a very busy area but packed with the daily local crowd. It was a perfect choice!!!???
We had our work xmas lunch at the Lamb Tavern. The food was excellent as was the service. Really lovely atmosphere and decor. Leadenhall Market is a stunning location too.
