The Lakes at Stambridge - British restaurant in Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom
Stumbled across this little gem great food overlooking fishing lake
Having sampled the lovely food at the Lakes frequently, my wife & I decided to book a table for the first roast Sunday dinner of winter 22/23. We were not to be disappointed! My wife enjoyed the roast pork with all the trimmings & I opted for the roast Sirloin of Beef, which was absolutely delicious! I thought about what made this such a great meal (for both of us& came to the conclusion, that everything tasted so fresh & natural. I cannot finish without mentioning the staff, all of whom are really friendly, helpful & make the dining experience a pleasure!
A lovely place away from all the hustle & bustle of town. Pleasant scenery whilst having a delicious lunch. A nice walk round the lakes after and saw the fish jumping. Friendly staff. Would definitely go again.
Good food in good surroundings.
Most lovely setting very polite staff food was wonderfull
Always great food and service
Brilliant setting and top notch breakfast ππ»
Great location. Staff were friendly and professional. Food was tasty with healthy portions. I will return.
Lunch time visit. Small fishing lake with a cafe attached. Was very busy. Excellent menu and food was delicious and well presented. Definitely come back. Would recommend booking ahead as they were fully booked today.
Lovely lunch overlooking the lake. Good service. Very pleasant staff
A lovely location, great food and staff
Breakfast was really good with great service. Very good value for money and a lovely setting. Dont forget to book its very popular.
Went for Saturday morning breakfast. Turned up with no booking and wasnt a problem. Got seated right by the lake in the sunshine. Very good breakfast menu with something for everyone. Cooked and presented just how I like my breakfasts. Great service and good food. Well recommended and you can even see the anglers catching Carp around the lake if youre right place right time.
Nice breakfasts and lunches with a stunning view of the lake. Outdoor deck is great in the summer, very peaceful. They are opening a bar so will soon serve alcoholic drinks which will be nice for an afternoon by the lake.Friendly helpful staff. They dont have a dedicated kids menu but are very accommodating and do smaller versions of any of the meals.
Good service and delicious hot food!
Staffed squeezed us in and had a glorious view across the lake.we were recommended the lakes and was not disappointed. Staff very friendly .the breakfast was not greasy at all.had a full English with poached eggs and they were perfect.been told to try the Sunday roast which we will.please book before you go to avoid disappointment. Well worth a visit
Great cafe with lovely views of the lake. Always book in advance though, no walk ins allowed.
Very nice place for fishing and eating
Met friends and family there for lunch. We all had the cheese ploughmans.. It was lovely a nice plate full.. Then few of us the Coffee and walnut cake. Wow best Ive ever tasted.. The Staff are so polite. Everywhere is clean and tidy.
Lovely meal of Jacket potato in very picturesque surroundings with a duck/fishing pond we were lucky as it was a nice sunny day.
A very popular place with seating both inside and out, nice views over the fishing lakes. Chancey to just turn up best to book.People lovely there, food top notch.
Best breakfast we have had
We have just had our first Sunday roast at the Lakes. It was amazing. The beef was tender and the vegetables cooked to perfection. The strawberry meringue was an indulgence afterwards when we were so full but well worth it. Well done to the chef and all the staff.
We went for breakfast, there were 3 of us, we were not disappointed. The full English breakfast was perfect. It comes with toast white or granary. I asked for mushrooms as an extra. We had a pot of tea each and then another. The staff are lovely and make sure that your visit is enjoyable. Nothing is too much trouble. Next time we are going back for the Sunday Roast Dinner.
Came during the week on a day off from work with the wife and my baby girl and arrived to a very snotty abrupt lady who was a waitress or a head of house or something and did not feel welcome at all.Food was nice a little pricey but hey beautiful surroundings so I can live with that. But I will not be returning in a hurryUnfortunately.Change of attitude to customers is needed
Lovely views over the lakes. Food delicious. Not always easy yo get a table, booking advised wish they opened Mondays.
We discovered this little Jewel a couple of weeks ago when we I was taken out for breakfast by my nephew and his girlfriend as a birthday treat .. and what a treat it certainly was .. located on the lake .. tranquil and peaceful this delightful restaurant served us a magnificent breakfast and service with a smile β¦ we were so impressed we booked an on the spur of the moment table for 6 for Motherβs Day lunch and once again we were not disappointed β¦. We werenβt crammed in like so many places trying to squeeze the extra pound notes out of an βevent dayβ , the food was absolutely delicious with a varied choice and catering for our vegetarian, who was in the mix of family members β¦ the deserts were also delicious and the service from the friendly team of staff was welcoming and efficient .. honestly this is the perfect place for a peaceful breakfast of lunch .. Thankyou so much to The Lakes for a fabulous Mothers Day lunch β¦ you knocked a lot of our regular haunts off the top spot ! Well Done.. we hope your business thrives with continued success in the future .. we will certainly return for more of the same .. a massive Thankyou from Jane Crosland and family xxx
Superb little eatery with fantastic views of the lakes. Lovely food and decent prices. Staff all friendly and keep the place spotless. Ideal place for special occasions or just a random breakfast/lunch on your day off π
Omg waited such a long time for the lakes to start doing roast dinners well worth the wait and could not resist a dessert well that was amazing I canβt wait to go again perfect xx
Heard good things about The Lakes and they were all true!Probably the best steak and ale pie ever and the syrup sponge, well!Small but perfectly formed!
Extremely good food, excellent value for money, service very good highly recommend
Breakfasts, Cakes and Coffees were some of the best we have had in a long time. Plus the view over the lake was so tranquil. 5 stars!
Its OK nothing fancy but the food is well cooked, service ok but not the best, unless they know you which was quite apparent. Premises are cold no heating ?Another odd thing no sweet menu a couple of cakes, thats it ?Wont be going back not worth the cost of the food nor getting cold.
Went for breakfast on Sunday, I had eggs Benedict my friends had the full English, The full English was a bit of a letdown, however the eggs Benny was good, nice views of the fishing lake on a sunny morning.Parking is full of potholes and itβs a blind exit when leaving so beware!
Lovely place, friendly staff, beautiful fresh food and great coffee. What more could you ask for. Will definitely be back.
Nice location, although rather dodgy when exiting the car park as visibility is restricted. Having said that a pleasant cafe with courteous and friendly staff, although we did get our heads ripped off when we arrived by a lady shouting from the other side of the room β Av u bookedβ!Service was good and food fine, although a bit on the pricey side, Β£23.60 for jacket n chilli - regular coffee- roast beef ciabatta n tea.It suited us purely for our convenience, but it would have been a keener price using one of the local nurseryβs.Toilets were not used by us.
Excellent little cafe off the beaten track. Superb food at reasonable prices and very good service
Fabulous Sunday lunch! As good as home cooked!Itβs not often that can be said of restaurant roastsTender beef, crispy roast potatoes, yorkie and perfectly cooked vegetables! Even the coffee was good! Could only manage to share an Eton Mess for dessert, but they all look scrummy!Lovely friendly staff and a wonderful view over the lake!We will be back.
A very nice place to go grab a bit to eat , outside needs a bit of sorting out because of rain and getting wet while you eat. But very friendly ,food was pipping hot and good. Highly recommend .
First time visiting,l. Lovely place, very popular as all tables taken. Excellent Food and good service.
Great food in a lovely setting overlooking the lake. Friendly staff and I have to recommend the Chocolate Fudge cake, its the best I have had and will be definitely going back soon.
A really lovely place to go to for a breakfast or lunchtime meal. The food is really good and the service is excellent. We had to book in advance and could not go on the day we wanted to as not open on Mondays or Tuesdays.
Lunch this time & it didnt disappoint. Burger, chips & homemade coleslaw. Nice big portion. Staff are lovely & efficient.
Its lovely to be back, seems ages since we last came here. Wonderful location, staff and food. Would highly recommend to anyone...
Visited The Lakes at Stambrige with some relatives who were visiting us. I havent been there for well over a year and remember throughly enjoying the experience. To make sure of a table I booked up a few days earlier. When we arrived we were asked if we would like to sit outside on the deck, which we did as it was a hot day. The deck wasnt there the last time we visited, it overlooks the lake. The meald were very good and we all enjoyed them. The service was very efficient and friendly. Definitely we will be there again soon.
Really nice food and staff!6 of us enjoyed a lunch break here, I had a chicken burger and Victoria Sponge, and others had cake too. Tea and coffee was also very nice.Would recommend a visit!
Lovely place to visit we just had a coffee and a walk round the Lake well worth a visit.
first class we loved it fab staff fab food will be back again
Excellent Service! Girls were attentive and friendly with their service! Chicken Burger was awesome and the View is a little haven!
Lovely outlook over the lakes and great breakfast. This is a very nice cafe/restaurant at Stambridge, just being Rockford. It is a cosy size. They provide a table service and offer tea and coffees as well as meals and snacks. The are some tasty looking cakes. I had the full vegetarian cooked breakfast, which was large and tasty, perfect!
