The Kingslander - Bar in Auckland, New Zealand
Poor Food - it’s tasteless and got no Seasoning in any dishes. Everything is deep fried on the menu. Ordered Calamari was chew couldn’t eat, Polenta chips smelt like cooked in very old deep fryer oil. Place itself is sticky Wooden floors and smelt weird as you walk in… Owner was good to chat with you can do far better !!
Great vibe, especially during or after a game!! Friendly and super fast staff!!!
Food here was absolutely amazing! Must try.
Never ever order from this place.Wendys does a better job for less.Had to return the most expensive smallish burgers minus Curly fries that we ordered via UberEATS.One burger had its order squished with beer battered fries.Asked for a refund from the bar and they said I can only get the refund from UberEATS.For a $62 meal like this, youre better off getting a meal elsewhere.
Don’t recommend going here or hiring out the venue. The staff were really rude and literally looked like they wanted to be anywhere but the venue. They didn’t have good customer service at all. The bar manager was super rude and didn’t hear anyone and went out often to have a vale. The security team thought they were above all else and made some pretty rude remarks to the team. The venue itself is nice but the team working there don’t make it enjoyable at all.
Food from previous do left on the floor, floors were sticky. Toilets were yuck, had to stand over the bowl (which had no seatto close the door. Served wine in a broken glass. Men using ladies loo. Staff were fabulous, food was yummo. Definitely go back 😆
Went on friday n Ordered the $30 platter of the day, Kingslander and OMG absolutely amazing. I ate 3 ribs and then went into food coma. The dj was awesome, he played till 9pm then a band came on they were really cool. Vibey atmosphere, will be back again
Ground floor has live music, 1st floor for function. But the food average.
Great band on weekends and amazing service
The service was good , I think they may have been short staffed but they managed quite well. The food however, Im a vegan and and asked for side dishes to be put together as a meal. Portobello mushrooms were a side. I got a bowl of gravy and tiny pieces of mushrooms which probably would not have been more then a spoonful in the gravy. The meal itself was really tiny for the value. Atmosphere was good. Would give it one more try but if dealt the same. Well well see.
Great vibe and live music such a blast!
Best bar staff Ive ever encountered. Amazing customer service skills. Made my night. Food was great too!
This place has seen better days. Toilet doors and seats broken and dirty, sticky floors, went to an event upstairs and it was freezing cold with cigarette smoke and the smell from the toilets wafting from downstairs. Found out my workplace was having an event here and I cancelled straightaway. Go to Hop House instead, its classy, warm and huge screen for sport if thats your thing.
Really good food and drinks, staff were really lovely! 👌
A lot of TVs and atmosphere for the UFC was cool, but not my vibe.
This is always the ultimate experience, at any time before or after a game. Has a huge atmosphere and following. Band was playing the might of the game and the place was rocking. There are usually queses to get in and a long wait at the bar. Always a must.
great food and a fun atmosphere and it has a quiz night every Thursday night and also has a great vibe when a rugby game is going on -entertainment 7.5/10really good food i loved the ribs and the wings -food 8/10
Pretty average service, happy to put up with that if the food is ok. Sadly 2 orders of fish and chips had raw fish with the batter falling off and one order was completely wrong and missing ingredients from the menu.
Fabulous establishment for entertainment, private functions, watching sport on the big screens , service & food excellent
Probably the worst experience of dining at a place I’ve ever had the food was just grim, first off I ordered the pork hock. The first experience of this was good until i reached about 2/3 of the way in and I was met with a stone cold raw pork from there on. My meal was refunded and I was offered a free meal which to their credit was good of them. The steak and eggs that I received was equally just as bad, steak too far undercooked even for someone that likes rare (ordered medium rarethe egg was obviously cooked on the bottom then quickly flipped to cook both sides , they obviously don’t have good time management skills with cooking eggs because when I cut it open the whole inside ran out, and was met with a plate full of egg white. Hopefully the last review I ever need to leave for a venue again, just a terrible experience and I’d encourage people not to eat here.
I loved it, excellent environment! Awesome food and dance lessons on Wednesday are spectacular.
Great for a beer after a game of rugby at Eden Park.
The Kingslander is always a good night. I go on Wednesdays for the salsa night and it is always a good crowd, good music and lots of salsa and bachata. They play a bit of kizomba, merengue and cumbia too.
Excellent! The entry price on Wednesday for those who like to dance Salsa is only $10 and you still get a very large glass of beer. Beautiful, cheerful people, great location... I recommend it.
I have had some really good experiences at the Kingslander in the past. Most recent experience was disappointing to say the least. The food was not very tasty, with all the plates using wilted leaves of fancy lettuce as a garnish. Chicken burger was lacklustre with no wow factor or punch of flavour you would expect from an up market bistro/pub. I genuinely almost chose not to not finish eating it but I was starving. Some of the menus had sauce on them and the bar in general felt a little grubby. Staff felt unwelcoming and the door to the smokers area kept being propped open which was letting smoke inside. There was an obvious problem with the beer taps too because it was taking a ridiculous amount of time to pour a beer and what was served tasted like it had been sitting in the keg a while. This lead our group to switch drinks but even the post mix coke tasted terrible. Will not be returning unfortunately.
Great atmosphere, outdoor smoking area which is undercover, staff helpful and went out of their way
Walked in an immediately smelt like cigarettes. Waited for a few minutes at the bar before staff finally appeared to serve us. First red flag was that the "bartender" used the glassware to scoop the ice from the ice well, a massive health and safety no no. Second was that the glassware was dirty. Icing on the cake was that the gas for the post-mix and beer line was obviously out so all of our drinks we flat. Pretty disgusting in general. Definitely wont be back.
Had a party upstairs it was 21st birthday with a perfect buffet meal at the party amazing food. The Venue is excellent for a private party and staff was helpful and everyone had an amazing night with DJ.
Great staff with a good drinks range and even live bands ! Yes
Delicious food and great service! We shared a number of the small shared plates, the fried chicken and salt & pepper calamari were stand outs.
Music was too loud in the dining area. Salad was lovely but sadly would not come back due to being unable to speak or hear to our friends conversations
We hired the Nectar room upstairs for a last minute change of venue for a 21st party. It is an excellent venue, plenty of room and three different areas that can be used. Staff were excellent throughout, really helpful to make arrangements, very obliging on the night and I cant think of anything they could improve. Well done.
thanks team for the amazing service! food super delicious 🤤
Fantastic all you can eat ribs deal on Thursdays. Great value. So much food! Ribs are super tender and delicious too. You wont be disappointed.
Thursday open mic was great, with fantastic saxophone player Andrew Miller from Mema Wilda Band jumping in with many talented singers & musicians. Will be back again! Food & service all good too, and generally a nice vibe.
The final of the Euros was great to watch here. The staff were really trying their best to serve so many people at once, so thanks to them! Unfortunately, some not so nice England fans thought it would be funny to throw coffee cups and swear at me for being one of the very few people supporting Italy.Other than that, it was a great venue!
I don’t usually complain but I had a pretty not great experience here. The music was waaaay to loud for how many people were there, probably eight max. Like it was at the point where my ears were ringing and you couldn’t even talk. There was a really strong smell coming from the couches that was difficult to ignore. Furthermore, I informed the bartender (in admittedly the most friendly and least confrontational words possiblethat we thought the music was too loud she responded in a really unsympathetic tone that was super alienating.Again sorry to complain but yeah.
Music was too loud and was played by an extremely amateur band that sounded like they were trying to destroy their instruments. Staff was very standoffish when we brought this up with them. On top of that there was a strong odor present similar to that of a rotting carcass or open sewage. Ears are ringing. 0/5
Two drinks the same house pinot gris and glass of tiger, $16 half hour later $22 . No happy hour prices either ? Food good but wont be back.
Went here to watch the Origin and can say this place provided mean vibes, very good tasting food and staff were super friendly even though they were all going for QLD! Up the blues! Lol Great venue and would definitely go back 👌🏽
We were lucky to spot this hidden gem and had such a lovely experience here on mothers day last week,. A big shout out to Tanya and Ash who really warmed us with their bubbliness and hospitality. Definitely coming back again for the lovely service and the food!
Amazing stonegrill. Angus beef, lamb shoulder and smoked chicken. Beef and lamb are tender and juicy. Smoked chicken is full of flavor. Great customer service, quick and super friendly. Love it. Will definitely come back for good vibe and food.
Nice place.I and my friends liked it.
Classic old bar, if your going to an event at Eden Park or a just wanting to have a good time you cant go past this place. Plenty of beers on tap as well as all your favourite other drinks. Projector and TV screens scattered around the venue to watch the game.
We came with my friend. And the staff was friendly always check if everything is okay or if we need something. You have a pool table nice game and with funny rules .I take the chicken curry loved it .
Cool venue, little tired but odds school suburban pub. Service is your average pub service, bartender at the bar kind of thing. Fold is really good for the price. A good deal on Tuesdays, $15 for drink and cheeseburger and fries. A will go again when in the area.
Friendly host. I had the seafood platter and pint of lager $31.00.They were all geared up for a big rugby night
Nice sports bar in Kingsland, they also have dance class on Wednesdays and all you can ear ribs on Thursday. Nice service, sometimes the staff not focusing on customers but talk to each others instead. The innovated dishes towards Asian cuisine is quite nice though. In general, a nice place to chill and watch sports after work.
Bachata on Monday evening was good. Entry level lesson and then social dance. Excellent location and lovely people. I hear the Wednesday salsa are very good also.
Great bar, great atmosphere, great service. They have all you can eat BBQ Spare Ribs on Thursdays, and their BBQ Spare Ribs are to die for.
