The Killman Zoo is my kids favourite zoo, we have been frequent visitors for years! My kids are under 4 years old & they love to walk the whole trail with my guidance, since it can get bumpy in some areas as expected. Otherwise bring a good stroller or wagon, very welcoming at this park and theres always animals in every corner of the place!

My family and I went to this zoo in August! The animals were well taken care of, clean and had lots of roaming room. They also had lots of structures and enrichment toys ! The staff seem to really care about the animals . I would definitely recommend this zoo !

I had a great time at the zoo today! Got to speak with the owner, who shared many details about life at the zoo, and André who made me feel welcome and also answered questions and shared stories. I love their plans for increasing enclosure spaces for their animals. The roars of the lions and the (very loud!carrying-on by the lemurs was fun to hear. It was a great experience, i look forward to going again!

Great experience able to see the animals very close, zoo wasnt pack so I was able to stroll through with a stroller without a problem. Had a lot of fun feeding the goats. The animals are mainly sleeping but do move around more than the Toronto zoo. They are cats so they do typically sleep 20 hours whether in a habitat or in the wild. For the price is a great zoo to visit. Was able to walk around and see all the animals in about 2hours. Would recommend better signage to know which way to go and also if there was signs on which animals we could feed the peanut to.

A great little zoo with an unbelievable assortment of big cats, smaller creatures! Always a very friendly staff ready to give you more information in the animals at this zoo. Each animal has a name and a story behind their journey to Killman zoo, almost all are rescued, giving it a very personalized feel compared to other zoos around. A wonderful experience for children and adults alike!

The most depressing “zoo” I’ve ever been to. Birds in cages so small they can’t fly and so many big cats, all kept separate in small cages. It reminded me of Tiger King. Someone thought it was a good idea to own big cats, they bred them over and over again, and called it a zoo. Everything from the moment we arrived was just sad and long after leaving I still feel upset about the animals being housed like that.

No idea how this has so many good reviews. The animals are in a lot of distress. They need to be properly checked and cared for. Cages are too small. The black puma walls with a limp. The tiger is pacing in his small cage. Even my kid said the animals look sad.

Not your typical commercial style zoo. My boys and I had a great time. It was like walking in a forest, trees all around, lots of shade and some water along with bridges to cross over. You have the option to purchase food upon entry for some animals. Was a little pricey but happy to support a local zoo.

A great zoo to get close with the animals and see everything! It is a really big space in comparison to others and can spend a good amount of time walking around. Lots of different animals to look at as well.

Before visiting this zoo I read reviews to see what I was in for, I saw a lot of reviews stating small enclosures so I was a little sceptical. After visiting I can see that some people didn’t really look closely. A lot of the big cats enclosures have a little doors in the back which open up to a way larger space. Same with the smaller animals, there are pathways for travel and a lot of the enclosures are connected so the animals can roam. I would assume that’s why there’s double wiring outside the enclosures, for the pathways that are clearly visible if you take a moment to look.I would agree that some enclosures are small, like the coyotes they seems uneasy and the sheep in the back seem like they need more grass but overall it’s a wonderful experience. There’s an empty lot right beside the sheep so for all I know they switch back-and-forth.Just as you’re entering there’s a sign that warns you of a tiger who hates strollers. DO NOT DISRESPECT THEIR WISHES ON THAT SIGN. When I was visiting there was a family that found it funny to stand in front of this tigers enclosure while is was visibly getting upset and rowdy, people like that should be banned from places like this. It makes me wonder what a person did in the first place for it to act like that. If you see it report it to employees like I did.Overall it was a wonderful experience and a gorgeous property. The animals here compared to government/Corporation zoos have been to looked a lot better and healthier.

My 3 year old really enjoyed it! We have been to a few zoos and this one was his favorite. The animals were up and active, they had many staff around that did what they could to make the experience even better (like bringing out the turtle for him to pet). Suggestion for the zoo its self, put a small play ground on the vacant grass lot by the house & birds, that would have made this a 5 star experience for sure :)

Killman zoo is a nice find near Hamilton. The important point that makes it different from other zoos is that this place is only to see animals. There is not much to do except for that. But if youre an animal lover, youll get plenty of time and options to get to know your animals from pretty close. They have some rare animals like the white lion and cavy, which I didnt find in other places I visited.Note: updating this review and my rating after visiting the Toronto Zoo. If youre an animal lover, this is truly a good place to visit at least once. The only thing I didnt like is the double-layer of nets that sometime make it hard to see the animals. I am not sure if this can be done in a better way without sacrificing safety, but may be changing that would make my visit perfect!

Parents with Strollers.Storm the Tiger ABSOLUTELY hates strollers, so when going to this place, please go as calmly and quickly through storms section, as it does irritate him, and other animals.Pathways are not that big. You have a big stroller it will be a bit difficult to stroll around.Every staff member we did come by, was knowledgeable and friendly, and told us and the kids fun facts about the animals.Small gift shop. You can feed certain animals and can buy a bag of food to feed them for 5$.When coming here please respect and balance your energy as these animals are very powerful. The reason for 4 stars is they have a small area for picnic eating area. This will take you about an a hour hour and half depending on the traffic in the establishment. The signs can be updated. Inside and outside the zoo. Bigger to say the least the little green Killmans Zoo we totally missed, and had to do a U Turn.Upon arriving it led me to the first drive way which said private property, our land...Proper signage Would avoid drivers like myself who follow the car GPS. We reverse and seen further up the black sign of Killman Zoo partially covered with the tress and grass.Parking is small, could be be bigger if you have space please consider this.Washrooms are located outside the zoo.Although some Big cats have a decent area to play and run with I did feel like they could be slightly bigger, cleaned, Fresh Water.I get it they are Wild, but your keeping them in captivity, Fresh Water Throughout the day.We kept seeing a chipmunk take the birds food.it was going in and out the cages. This is not a GOVERNMENT Funded zoo.So yes things run here WILL BE DIFFERENT.My family got to experience hearing the LIONS roar, communicating with each other.Something I personally have Never Witness any Lion or Lioness do at African Lion Safari.Hand sanitizer dispensers Are located throughout the entire establishment.Super big bonus was be able to step out for lunch and come back see the Lions Feed.Coming with kids, this is an absolute deal breaker to make the drive. They do sell small snacks at the entrance. The woman who sold us our tickets at the entrance was super nice, knowledgeable, gave us some tips, and her energy was great. We will definitely be back With more family, my daughter was so excited to share her experience hearing the lions roar so close.

No photos to share since I dont have access to them, however, this place is a must visit if you like cats.. Big cats. Youll have a new appreciation for these creatures as soon as you hear them roaring after you exit your vehicle. Amazing experience and will update with photos once I get access. It does get busy on weekends but its worth the visit.

From the front gate, the lion enclosure looks decently sized but the further you go back, the smaller the cages become and the more frustrated the animals seem. Large cats meant for jumping and running are barred in by cages barely big enough for them to get a good stretch in.Animals pacing around and laying out in the hot sun with merely any shade or space.

This is a great small zoo. The variety of animals isnt huge, but you can see them pretty close up which is cool. They have a section where you can feed some animals (goats, sheep, emus, deer). Pathways are a bit tight in places - we had 2 strollers - and the strollers kind if stress the animals out so I wouldnt bring one on any future visits.

Have gone there many times since I was a child. Here is a picture of me and the tiger cub called Storm I met when I was 3 or 4. The zoo has beautiful animals. You certainly get close to the animals but not for a good reason. The cages are incredibly small for such large animals that need space ro run and roam. Though it was an animal sanctuary based on the description of this zoo, doesnt seem like it. Many of the animals were pacing back and forth in their small cages. The Emu can reach its head out and bite your feet, be careful when you stand there. During feeding time, collous maximus was throwing up, after eating just 1 chicken, and he didnt look very good. The staff said its normal, because he eats too fast.

We had a great time here lots of big and small cats to see with some other smaller animals. You get to be very close to these cats, unlike other zoos. We were there when the animals were being fed. That was a sight to see. Parking is free, but limited, or you can park on the road and walk inside.

Amazing experience!! Hands down this zoo is much better than Toronto Zoo in terms of actually seeing the animals up close. They are the place to be if you want to see big cats. They have a bunch of lions, some tigers, cougars, Jaguars, and others and also have other animals. The goats and sheep are hilarious too. I love this zoo because you see the animals so close and some even interact with you to some extent. Vinny and Will were the staff there when we went and they were amazing, friendly, kind, informative, perfect with dealing and talking to our littles ones. They added to the positive experience. This zoo is one I would visit several times a year. It was nice and empty when we went so we took our time and enjoyed the animals. Take note that you wont find big animals here like giraffes and elephants, but still worth the trip regardless. I highly recommend this place.

A MUST see this summer .. and next .They have a lot of wild cats here , I saw at least 25 . I loved the beautiful and rare WHITE LION , and also the HUGE BLACK PANTHER . My daughter loved to watch the Bengal tiger ( I think it was anyway )As it was spashimg and playing with toys in the pool .The animals are well cared for, and incase your wondering about the size of the display enclosure... They do have lots of extra space to roam around . It looks to be about10 acres and they always come back to their den on their own 😄.You can purchase an annual pass for only 70 dollars , and if you want you can even use your admission receipt and just pay the remainder .The purchase is a great way of supporting this great FAMILY RAN ZOO . They are helping the conservation of Tigers and Lions .They have one of the largest lion families in Canada .I also noticed on their website that you can get bigger discounts for groups over 20 .If your wondering about Covid 19 .They did everything possible and followed all the rules and regulations set in place by the rules set by the government .Ill say this respectfully.. please treat the animals with kindness when visiting THEIR HOME .I was disgusted to see one of the animals getting taunted .Please report it to the staff if you notice anything.I cant wait to go back .

It was my first time here. I had a great time, loved to see the big cats up close...it will be nice to see when they are able to expand the jag cage, covid 19 sucks because its pure a damper on being able to interact more but its better than nothing! Its the perfect size for small children to stay entertained. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Large amounts of the path are shaded which is nice on a hotter day. Id recommend this zoo for those who are looking to spend a morning or afternoon out with their children. Remember this is a family owned zoo and rescue and not a full fledge zoo so some amenities are basic which to me adds to the atmosphere.

Went with my work company, childcare, only two bathrooms and port a potties. Okay variety of animals but some of the cages seemed too small for the animal. One male tiger was not happy and sprayed at our group of kids. A small place not suited for a large amount of people. Friendly staff and tried to explain the animals to the children. Random people kept feeding peanuts to animals, not good especially for the animals and those with allergies. Signs even posted not to feed the animals peanuts!

Had such a great day! What an amazing sanctuary for these animals! Great for kids too because all the animals are super close and active so there is tons for them to see. The owner, Mark, was there to answer any of our questions and you can tell he is devoted to the animals! Will be back 100% & will spread the word about this hidden gem.
