Lovely evening cocktails and a light nibble with my beautiful sister. We ate at the bar, which was lovely as we were not staying long. Had a couple cocktails, I did need an extra shot of gin but that’s probably my threshold being high!Lovely hosts, Luca and the team very attentive and accommodating. 🍸

Yes - we went to another Ivy restaurant again this time in St. Albans. The food was incredible and consistent with the other location. This time we had the Salt and Pepper Calamari and Crispy Duck Salad as appetizers. Both mouth watering goodness. Our mains were the Truffle Sausages with potatoes and the Roast beef Sandwich with thick chips. The truffle Sausages has a unique, flavorfully taste while the roast beef sandwich was prepared to taste on a fresh soft baguette with horseradish mayo. The chips were the ⭐ of the dish. They were extra crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We splurged on multiple specialty Gin & Tonics cocktails such as the Pink Cat, Blood Orange 🍊, Rhubarb and Ginger, and The Ivy G&Cs. All were outstanding.

Dined here for a birthday celebration with my partner. Food was excellent as always however I’ve dropped a star for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we ordered olives for the table but we had to chase them so they ended up coming after our starters. Secondly, the champagne was delivered warm; it’s our third time dining there and each time it’s been the same. Also, the waiter poured water all over the menu and then the same waiter was in charge of flambéing my apple tart so you can imagine my unease! Overall though, these were just small distractions on an otherwise great evening dining at The Ivy

A surprise family meal to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Excellent food and service - couldnt be faulted. Would love to see a wider selection of beers. In fact there is no draft option for either lager or ale. Overall a great way to spend time with your family.

Anniversary meal-we were treating ourselves. Staff were all friendly and professional - the right balance. Sunday menu has something for everyone and all delivered better than expected. My wife loves the Shepherds Pie there, I had the veal steak - succulent and tasty.

You know you are in for a great dining experience when youve booked a table for 6.30pm on a Tuesday evening and find that the restaurant is already half full, completely full by 8.00pm. and deservedly so.Excellent food and portion sizes with varied menu to cater for most tastes, first class wine list and all at reasonable prices with impeccable service. A special thank you to Georgia who served us throughout the evening, very polite, friendly and professional. We really enjoyed our evening and would recommend to anyone.

Visited here for my parents birthday and was really impressed with both the food and service. I had the onion soup for my starter and it really was delicious. At the end of the meal he was given a very nice complimentary pudding with a candel in, which was a lovely gusture. We had a lovely meal and will definitely go back again.

Waited almost 30 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation and were on time. We had to sit at the bar near the entrance where we watched other people who arrived after us being seated and could see empty tables for two. Considering the reputation, price and service charge, being kept waiting for almost 30 mins is very rude.Very cheeky manager who to tried to encourage us to order more drinks when we wanted the bill and didnt apologise for making us wait almost half an hour to be seated, instead saying the fault was other guests staying too long - but we watched other guests who arrived after us were shown to their tables immediately and there were empty tables for two! Very cheeky manager. Our waitress, Matilda, however, was lovely and competent. Good table service from Matilda but very, very poor front of house and a cheeky manager. This was our second visit because our first about a month ago was so positive and the all the staff that day impressed us that we wanted to come back.

I was few months ago at this restaurant and was nice but also some food and drinks on the menu are overpriced. Now, I said to give this restaurant one more chance and I was happy that I find to book for my anniversary the private dining of 14 people with one week before and guess what? They cancelled me with 1 day before as they said is an error system and someone else it is already booked. Seriously? With one day before? Now I have to find another restaurant to be available for so many people on the last minute. Thank you your professionalism !

I liked it... the savignon blanc was nice. I enjoyed my starter of pan fried scallops £14. I ordered the aromatic duck curry for my main £19.25 which I will not order again because even though the sauce was lovely the actual duck was dry and rubbery. I then finished off with a sharing plate of profiteroles £30. I then ordered a dark rum & coke to finish with and was pleasantly surprised by its strength 😁 good portion sizing. So for 3 ppl we ended up with a bill of £240! BTW theres no parking.

Nice food but the service was painfully slow. Had to keep asking for our drinks. It is lovely that they like to pour our wine but not if you have to spend your meal reminding them to do it! Table next to us received their food before they even had their drinks. Drinks added onto the bill that we never even had. I’m sorry but for the money this is all unacceptable. Far better cheaper alternatives in St Albans.

As an anniversary treat, Mrs. F and I enjoyed a late lunch here. The dining area was pleasant and relaxed, if perhaps a little twee. The food however, was sublime. I have no doubt in my mind that anything we might have chosen from the menu would have been faultless. What really made this a first class experience was the excellent staff; from the greeters at the door to our server / event photographer, they were cheery, attentive and engaging, whilst never being anything less than peerless professionals. Thank you for allowing your staff to be more down to earth than Downton Abbey. A devine couple of hours away from the kids, which we will cherish for many more anniversaries to come and against which all future dining experiences will be measured.

New management has made an instant and noticeable improvement. The Ivy has always been one of my favourite spots to go when in London, so I was thrilled when I found out one was opening in St Albans. Last time we came it was okay but not amazing, but we thought we’d give it another chance as we’re local and I like the menu. What a brilliant visit it was too!We got chatting to the new lady manager who’s just started and how refreshing. It’s so nice to go somewhere and receive genuine hospitality rather than a 16 year old following some robotic service cycle. We hope Rebecca stays as she clearly has what it takes to send this place to the next level.

Have had some mixed meals here before, however, stopped by today and had an excellent meal. This was mainly due to the sheer class of Sheila, who gave us an incredible standard of service throughout. The food was really good, however on this occasion the service shone through. We will be back …… as long as we can have Sheila!!!!Thank you

Food was absolutely delicious and so tasty. However, the service was not the best, quite slow and did not clean the table on time or getting the orders on time. Therefore we felt that paying for service charge was not justified. All chips portions felt very cold and soggy. It was quite disappointing but everything else was delicious.

The place is well put together, beautiful well thought out restaurant decor. Staff are attentive and welcoming. I ordered the scallop starters which were nice... the food all came out nicely presented. My black cod wasnt how I know black cod to be (if you go to Roka or Nobu)... it was abit too dry and the side of pickled white veg it came with, tasted like Sambuca which wasnt pleasant. Its a lovely place to try but not sure id go back.

Courgette frittes are always lovely.Extremely generous fish portion, crispy batter and fresh fish.Steak sandwich was, Im told, very good.Salt and pepper squid, and arancini were a hit too.The chips really are lacking. Taste like they were made yesterday and reheated for todays sitting.Service was quite bad. I understand they were busy, but staff were doing their best to avoid eye contact when passing by the table. This is my 4th or 5th time here, but will probably give it a miss next time.

This was a simply sensational birthday breakfast. What is nice about the St Albans branch is that it is a quieter one compared to the hustle and bustle of the flagship restaurants in Central London. The breakfast itself was fantastic. We ordered a classic breakfast and an Eggs Royale. Both were fabulous as were the accompanying oolong tea and coffee. Two glasses of house champagne finished our outing nicely. The restaurant has extremely good service and they added an impromptu birthday pudding (shown in the picture).

I’ve been here many times before and it still remains my absolute go to place for something a little special without the hassle of going into the city. I often take my little one with me (4 year old)- the Children’s menu is GREAT! - and is a huge hit!. Great service, great food, lovely atmosphere!

We had a lovely meal here last week. The place was buzzing but we sat at a table near the bar and felt quite Covid safe there. We had a couple of cocktails (Bad Santa and Snowy Libationto start with and they were yummy. Then onto proper starters - Venison Tartare for me and Cheese Soufflé for her. Highly recommend both of these dishes. We followed with Lemon Sole and Chicken Milanese, again excellent dishes. We were suitably stuffed by this stage but managed to share a chocolate bombe - the dramatics did not disappoint!! Our waiter Lorenzo deserves a special mention as he was super attentive without being in your face and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We will be back 😊

Nice atmosphere and good service, conveniently located. Thought the pancakes were great, with perfect fluffiness level, but the yoghurt doesnt do them justice. Slightly too much foam on latte. These are down to personal taste though, all good overall.

Recently went for Afternoon tea to the IVY St.Albans & was really disappointed with service, the pastries options & had to ask the type bread served . Was told only white or whole meal. When we ordered wholemeal bread we were told we have to wait longer as the white bread sandwiches were already made & have to wait longer for wholemeal sandwich. A few sandwiches were broken. There were lack of customer service & were not given option of champagne refill. It was a special occasion as nephew was visiting me from New York & graduated from an IVY university in the USA. I had mentioned in my booking but restaurant seemed to have ignored the message, I also mentioned to the waiter servings us. Overall really unsatisfactory experience.

Maybe I had too high expectations but sadly they werent meet. The service wasnt great and had to ask for drinks multiple times after ordering them. On the whole the afternoon tea was nice but most certainly not wow and some of the flavours really didnt work the macaroon in particular was an awful combination that none of us ate the full thing. The scones however were delicious so maybe worth just having a cream tea and skipping the other stuff.

Having visited an Ivy elsewhere, I was really looking forward to eating at the St Albans branch. However, although the food was great, the whole experience was not as good as I was expecting. Whilst there was nothing actually wrong with the service, I found it to be not particularly attentive. I feel like the service is a big part of the Ivy experience and I just didnt get it here. Shame.

I loved that steak tartar and my decoration advisor was amazed, as you can see in the pictures. Her sweet potato curry was also very good, as the strawberry iced cream dessert. If this is English food, it took me too long to realise, I am afraid. The experience deserved paying a little more than elsewhere (it’s not so much).Good red Rioja available.

We went for an afternoon tea, which I hadnt had there before. The venue has lovely decor and the service we received was lovely. The afternoon tea, the sandwiches were a little dry and the scones seemed on the small side, but none the less they tasted lovely. The show stopper was the presentation of the puddings which were a delight.

Cannot believe we have only visited this spot recently. Love this vibe, staff and service. Food was very nice, from the sourdough bread to the fish and chips. Tartar sauce was yummy! Fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was delightful. Social distancing was kept and not once did we feel unsafe. See you again next week. Ps, the best warm sourdough bread we’ve ever tasted!
