The Ivy Dublin - Restaurant in Dublin, Ireland
The Ivy Dublin in Dublin
Description
Privilege
We only had drinks outside . Lovely cocktails yum yum .nice ambiance inside and bathroom lovely, special.we will definitely be back for food
More12.5% service charge for having some cocktails at the bar. 5 euro extra per round. So robbed of 10 euro in total. Sly sly behavior. It might have been in very small print at the bottom...not sure as the text was too small for the naked eye to read in the dim lighting.A pity, because the food was nice when Id gone before.Wont be back again unfortunately.
MoreThe interiors of the Ivy are really great. It’s quite a busy restaurant, would recommend always booking in advance. The menu has lots options and also has a separate vegetarian menu. The food was delicious but the service was a little slow.
MoreThis place is amazing. The food was to die for and all the staff were very professional. Our server was very attentive and ensured that we were happy with everything. I specified that this was a special occasion and we got a lovely ‘congratulations’ dessert. I was so so impressed and will definitely be back.
MoreFood is not their strength, from what we could taste. Eggs Royal were nice and so was the steak sandwich. But not outstanding though. Ordered Pancakes and berries afterwards and it was a disappointment. Portion is ridiculous small and it came hard like if you bought from a supermarket and warmed up in the microwave (actually I would rather eat it from the supermarket). The waitress apologised and took it off the bill. But still charged us for the “sauces” it came with: strawberries and maple syrup. €8 for these “sauces”. To go on with the disappointment, we ordered cream brûlée, which came cold and lacking consistency. Overall, it’s a very beautiful place, nice atmosphere but food is not worth it for the price they charge. By the way, the 12,5% service charge fee certainly doesn’t go to the staff as tips. That’s shameful.
MoreBeautiful decorated restaurant, a pleasure for the eyes and atmosphere. Slightly snotty reception as we were 35 mins late for our reservation due to delays at work, but had messaged ahead that we would be so. Unfortunately no one monitored the automated instant messaging this evening so we are told hastily that 30 minutes would be shaved off our 2hr time slot. Anyway, having figured out one way or another that this debate would not end well, we were shown to our table and enjoyed a pleasant evening at the Ivy. The food was slightly heavy handed on the seasoning for my taste (I had the prawn cocktail to start and scallop with squid ink linguine), I found both dishes were over powered by salt. My date had the steak tartare which he enjoyed. Price was reasonable given the location. Definitely worth a visit just for the experience of being in a beautiful room with enjoyable ambience.
MoreLoved the ambience, up in Dublin for a special occasion & wanted somewhere special. The attention to detail on service was A1. Definitely felt worth the price for the experience. 12.5% service automatically added to bill in our case (3 peoplewas justified but dont agree with this as a rule. Soups & Prawn Cocktail for starters, Fish & Chicken dishes mains, Melting Chocolate Bomb was divine.🍽️
MoreAlways a great experience at The Ivy. The staff are so wonderful, the food is incredible, the decor and ambience are spot on. Will definitely return. The crispy duck salad is a MUST. Only downside was there is a very small beer selection.
MoreThis is a beautiful restaurant. Gorgeous decor and well trained staff. Unfortunately the food is less impressive. The portions are small and the steak was not cooked as ordered. As 61 other reviews have mentioned there was an unannounced service charge added to our table of 3. No warning of this on the menu or by the staff. The desert was fabulous. I enjoyed it, mostly because it is a real visual treat and I love a good desert.
MoreSo many plants!!! The guy taking care of them lost his voice from speaking nice things to the plants all day to keep them healthy and thriving. The interior had me lost in a constant stare. Food was good too, of course. Highly recommend.
MoreWe went to the Ivy to celebrate our daughters graduation. It was early evening. The place was buzzing, but we had a booking and the maitre dhôtel quickly brought us to our table. The decor and style of the place is very appealing - hip without forcing it. We were served by Isabelle, who is a fantastic server: attentive, polite and friendly. The food was really good (see the photos). My wife paid and concluded that it was good value. We will certainly be back...
MoreFab 👌 birthday brunch .....our server was excellent. Beautiful decor. Food was very good drinks could have been slightly better
MoreWe enjoyed a celebratory meal here and would absolutely recommend this venue for its beautiful setting and decor. The Ivy restaurant is well-known for its monkfish and prawn curry and this dish definitely didnt disappoint. The highlight of the meal for me was the chocolate bomb dessert, although I was well-informed, that the cheesecake was also delicious. I didnt try the cocktails and thought they seemed a bit pricey but I dont normally go for fancy drinks. 🍹
MorePossibly one of the best restaurants in Dublin. Brunch and lunch awesome, there are many options. Youll just want to come back to taste everything.
MoreThe reception, the waiters, the food, the overall service, the bathrooms, the ambiance, the value for money, the selection of dishes, the selection of wine, the city centre location were all 5 stars. I honestly expected The Ivy to be expensive and was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were, given the overall quality. A lovely experience and it will become a regular eatery for us now. A big thanks to the staff who were so helpful and nice.
MoreThe cocktails were good but the food preparation wins hands down for me. The halloumi grill is the most flavourful and tasty dish I ever tasted in Dublin in years. Very busy tables but the staff were highly attentive. Fair play to the team.
MoreThe service is great! The most attentive team working there. Prices are also fair. I had the burger & it had a very satisfying bite to it. Taste great too! The ambiance & deco is catered for, & very nice for outgoing personality types. It can get very busy and noisy due to the popularity!
MoreAbsolutely perfect, the staff were amazing the atmosphere was positive and ..... OMG the food was insane 😍.... if I could Id eat there every night !! 100% impressed
MoreHad a great dinner at The Ivy, service was friendly and timely and food was really good. A bit on the pricey side but I consider it was worth paying the price. Their steaks were superb.
MoreWe finally found a place serve cream tea with clotted cream in Dublin, and it was absolutely amazing.Cream tea only available from 3-5pm, and better reserve a table since its very busy😃
MoreThe restaurant is beautiful and most importantly the food was just great!! It’s really expensive though and have snobby vibes but I loved the food experience.
MoreWe came here for their set dinner menu which in my opinion a very good deal, 3 courses for 27 euros. We had a lovely time and would come back. The service was good
MoreVery pretty, but very expensive. Tables incredibly close to each other as well. If you are larger than a size 10, you may find yourself struggling to gracefully sit in the booth without knocking into the table beside you. (You can see how close the tables are in the picture of my flat steak—which was fine, but nothing special; and the fries weren’t very exciting either. There is also a 12.5% service charge automatically included in the bill—which I’m told does not always go to the waitstaff. It was also incredibly busy and crowded, but I suppose that in a place where I am primarily paying for the atmosphere, I would have liked a little more space to myself to enjoy it without feeling like I was imposing on the people sitting beside me by just trying to take a seat at my table.
MoreI went in for lunch as it was convenient yesterday. Showed to my table and given menus. I chose the hamburger €17 and extra of cheese ( a teaspoon , see photos !€2. €19 for a cheeseburger and chips. ( the chips I ordered salt free, and they were salt free 👍Overpriced. Glass of Lierre rosé from the Ardèche sour and bitter. Not nice. Cheeseburger very nice, in brioche bun ( possibly from M&S across the road. Chose cheese plate instead of dessert. 3 cheese, a cashel blue and 2 farmhouse, hard and very cold straight out of the fridge, accompanied by almost frozen grapes, and dry undressed salad. €13.50, way overpriced and quite unpleasant. Soo cold. I put the cheese in my bag and took with me. €7.50 would have been plenty for this. The Lierre red a lot better than the rosé.I asked for the bill, spotted 12 & 1/2 % service charge added on. On spotting it I said I’m not paying that, the waiter said I’ll just charge you without it. Omg Tbh I was a bit shocked about that, and my gut reaction was to leave nothing. So I left nothing. Normally I do leave a cash tip of 10 to 20% but in these circumstances I didn’t appreciate the suggestion of pure robbery for a single person.I tasted the cheese at home, having been out of the fridge a few hours. I could now taste it. Very nice. When you overcharge for cheese, serve it at the correct temperature for customers to enjoy and announce the cheese types and country of origin. Yes I know it was cashel blue and 2 farmhouse. If you’re going to do it do it properly…🙄.They don’t really have a clue from a professional point of view about customer relations and more focused on just extracting money from them.
MoreReally enjoyed having a cocktail at this bar, love the ambiance, and recommend it as a nice place to pop in for a drink if you can.Food is good, not great (at least given the price pointbut the atmosphere and the vibes make up for it.
MoreSupersonic.Great spot for any occasion. Superb food served by professional friendly staff.Good starters, Great main courses and of course The Chocolate Bombe! You have to see it to believe it and it also tastes divine! Try it, you wont be disappointed
MoreI had dinner with a friend in The Ivy this week. The service was great, food amazing, great atmosphere, very professional staff, friendly and helpful. I loved it, cant wait to go back
MoreThe vibes here are immaculate, and if youre looking for an Instagram-worthy location place, this would be the one! Every detail is carefully crafted from the wallpaper, decor, ceilings, and bathrooms! However, I must say the food is not even mediocre. Ive tried 3 different entrees for dinner and a breakfast item, but I regret it given the foods lack of flavor and the fact that its wildly overpriced for what it is. I will say a few of the starters/appetizers are tasty like the popcorn shrimp and duck salad. I want to love this place so much, but I just cant.
MoreLovely ambience. Great food. Can you have more lamb options please
I don’t even know where to begin. Absolutely perfect in every aspect: the staff is nice, helpful and polite. The atmosphere is very warm, lots of plants, good music and comfortable seats.Drinks were amazing, there is one with pepper and pineapple juice that was the best that I’ve ever had.Food was also a nice surprise but without a doubt the highlights were the salad with crisp duck and the creme brûlée for desert.I loved it and would definitely recommend!
MoreI went to the Ivy Dawson st. this past weekend for a birthday meal with my family. The experience was excellent. Actually, I would say it was the best customer service I have experienced in a while. Really top notch waiting and service staff. Everything seemed very relaxed. There was also a lovely little surprise at the end because they had a small birthday cake for me which I really appreciated. I will definitely be back :)
MoreOverall it is an overrated restaurant. Food wasnt prepared as supposed: eggs were almost boiled instead of poached (for two plates). They replaced one of them. For the third salmon plate it barely has a bit of salmon. Bread wasnt up to standards (both the gluten and the non-gluten one). Fresh juice is good. For the same money you pay here you can get way more value in a different place.
MoreGood food, good service. Why 4 stars?:- too loud, wasnt able to hear opposite part of the table- waiters not knowledgeable in wine culture- not all dishes were available, e.g. rib eye steak wasnt availableOverall experience: had a lovely evening with our friends
MoreGreat decor as always with the Ivy, but it felt more like a kid friendly family place than anything else. Staff was super kind.Food was bland unfortunately, every dish was one disappointment after the other as they were all quite flavorless. There are so many great brunch places in Dublin so we will not be going back here.
MoreWe had a pleasant dining experience. Went in for lunch on St.Stephens Day and it was indeed very busy. The front office were quick to check our reservation and COVID vaccine certificate, post which we were ushered to our seating. The restaurant was aesthetically appealing, spacious and can accommodate quite a lot of people. For an efficient service, there were many staffs on duty to attend the large inflow of people. All the Food items we had were good, served fresh and hot. The staffs who attended us were kind and professional. The restrooms were maintained to impeccable standards. For someone expecting a quiet dining experience, this may not be your place especially during peak hours. Also there was a Service Charge of 12.5% with the bill.
MoreGreat venue and great staff: Greg was warm, kind a professional! Everything you need when you are looking for a place to have dinner on a Christmas Eve. Thank you very much, Greg! You made our evening great
More“The Ivy” was great. Food (duck salad on the picture and had a spiced pumpkin soupwas very tasty and cocktails + the elderflower iced tea was amazing! Also be ready to take three course meal if hungry as portions don’t tend to run too big from what I saw.P.S. Also if you are vegan, ask for a vegan menu when seated.
MoreWe had an amazing dinner here at The Ivy. The food was so good and the service was amazing. Definitely recommend checking out this amazing restaurant. The deco there is really pretty too. Make sure you make reservations well in advance as they do get very busy!
MoreAmazing experience. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, a great mix of tourists, business professionals and locals. I had a holiday bourbon cocktail which was fantastic, and then I had the fish and chips. 10/10 would recommend. I finished off with some chocolate and whiskey ice cream. Also delicious! The waitress, blonde and thin and short was so nice and created a welcoming atmosphere. You HAVE to come here when in dublin.
MoreWent there last week and it was like stepping into the 1920’s.Art Deco style vibe everywhere, comfortable sofa seating with lots of cushions and beautiful shiny tiled floors, plenty of pictures on every wall, lots of shiny gold banisters, luxurious large dark flowers wallpaper on restrooms.Attentive staff uniformly dressed, cloth napkins, nice china, good food…The experience somehow felt rushed and hassled, tables emptied under military precision time, constant coming and going of customers coming and leaving, the busyness a testament to the popularity of the place in spite of the price. It’s not a cheap place and yet the number and high turnover of customers made it look a bit like a McDonald’s in rush hour…
MoreWas there with my 3 siblings on a Friday evening an I was very impressed. Only mentioned once that it was a birthday celebration an they remembered! All 4 of us were very happy with the food. Staff very attentive an couldnt do enough! Its wasnt as expensive as we thought it would be.. Would highly recommend it, lovely treat..
MoreWe visited the Ivy in February 2020 and we couldn’t fault food or service , everything was perfect. We decided to revisit in August 2021 and we were accompanied by our two daughters for my wife’s birthday. This time it was a disaster from start to finish. Service was shocking and the food was just ordinary with portion sizes greatly reduced. The only positive part of our visit were the drinks which were worth waiting for. All in all it was a very expensive bad experience.
MoreWas there for my birthday brunch with my bestie. Emily, our waiter, was very very lovely and helped us out when choosing food after being asked. Both food and service were amazing, and decoration is stunning. It’s a rather noisy place though, and a bit pricey. But I’d go back for dinner to compare service and menu. But definitely a good place for brunch to try sthg different or your regular brunch Dublin menu as well.
MoreVisited the Ivy tonight and had the most amazing experience from start to finish. Our waitress Emily was so attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. The manager Jamie brought us to our table and was very welcoming. Will definitely be visiting again in the near future. Thanks guys!
MoreAmazing food + classy ambience but expensive service charge. I went to the ivy on a date in mid October and the halloween decor was on point. We started off with few cocktails and the crispy duck salad which i would recommend as it was the best dish we had while there.
MoreWe are a couple visiting from the Netherlands and we passed by this place on a walk and made a reservation. The staff at FOH on 26/9/21 around 7pm were very friendly and bubbly. The server who was with us that night her name was Chloe I believe was extremely attentive and polite. The food was amazing in my opinion and the service time was great because we were able to enjoy our drinks before the food and during. The other staff helping were very fun as well and even had a little conversation with us. Working myself in the service management industry I find the level of interaction we had and the experience at the ivy on this date was great and an example! The price is reasonable for the location and the quality. The portions are great. We were a bit shocked at the big portions because where we come from the portions arent that big but it was delicious enough to eat it all. Worth every moment and will come again and recommend it to others.
MoreBeautiful decor as usual for The Ivy. Atmosphere was lively, but not loud enough that you couldnt have a conversation. Food was delicious and we couldnt eat all of eat so it was packed in a takeaway box for us. Service was a little slow, but very polite and friendly. Great location - just a walk away from the tram stop and Grafton Street.
MoreBest brunch in Dublin! I came back for a second time it was so good. Very attentive staff and delicious food. The decor is eclectic and very nice also. Would recommend making a reservation as it gets very busy!
MoreWe walked by this beautiful restaurant and decided to give it a try, since the restaurant was pretty full. We didn’t make a reservation, but the host was nice enough to give us a table. It is a very nice and luxurious restaurant - nice decor, friendly staff, and good service. We ordered scallops, shepherd’s pie, Crème brûlée, and Irish coffee for our lunch. Everything was delicious! Will definitely come back again for dinner, and remember to make a reservation! Nice restaurant for special occasions, dates, or celebrations!
MoreVery good food experience. Issue was rushed service … didn’t delay ordering and didn’t have time for desert… or a drink after dinner. Strictly 2 hours … very disappointing as took the afternoon off to enjoy the experience and didn’t expect the strict table turn around.
