Dashwood House, 69 Old Broad St, London EC2M 1QS, Gueckedou
A contemporary brasserie setting with all-day menus, modern bar seating, & ample natural light.
This place is amazing. I loved everything about it. I cant wait to go back in the summer so I can get the full garden experience!
The table was a little snug for a party of 6 and unfortunately, there was no offer to check my coat on arrival or once seated, however, the rest of the service was very good. The food was amazing with great flavour, although portion size was on the small side. I loved the theatre of the flambe apple tart and the chocolate dessert. They even served my favourite DOCG proseccoIts well located and beautifully decorated with an eclectic art deco style. Attention to detail extended to the ladies toilets with beautiful red wallpaper and 3D flowers on the ceiling.
The Ivy is always a safe choice of a great environment, great food and great service. Great for all occasions. Brunch, lunch and dinner
Amazing staff and service ! I came with a 4 month old baby and the staff from reception to the table service were super friendly and helpful! They accommodate us despite the fact we had a stroller and I was quite anxious about making extra problems for the staff! I will come back ! Thanks for your amazing service and for making me feel welcome ! The food was super delicious too!The lady that served us was super sweet- Bianca ! Please send her our love ! She is a star!
After a couple of years of wanting to dine here, i came after work with colleagues, the waitresses and host were very attentive and informative. Nice decor, and decent food. The dessert was the best part of my meal and the mocktail did not disappoint.
A little bit too lousy but the food was great. The staff was very nice. Its worth eating here.
My wife and I went up on a Thursday at 4pm and it wasnt that busy.1st Drinks took a while to come out to us & the second drinks took about 20minutes to come out once ordered ( normally fine if it was busy, but as mentioned, it wasnt busy). Staff were apologetic but didnt speed anything up.Food was probably the worst Ive had in a while. The calamari was basically chewing gum, it was horrible. If you compare it to ivy Marlow or the giggling squid then this ivy falls very short.I ordered the veal steak, which was the same as calamari, chewy and horrible.. not expected for £23.00My wife ordered a chicken in bread crumb dish... Half of it was left, bland and not expected from the ivy. This isnt a slight on the restaurant, we usually use the one in Marlow which is exceptional and makes for the special occasion.Left disappointed
The Ivy saved the day after poor service from another restaurant. We should have come here first.Good points: great attentive service. Lovely food. Nice surroundings with plants everywhere gave the restaurant a relaxed vibe. I had the black cod and I would highly recommend it.
Food was excellent as is to be expected from any Ivy restaurant. However was rather loud and one person from our table had his starter missed. The starter was sent out sharply. Again later with dessert a concern was raises but nothing was done, probably due to not understanding. Again when repeated issue was addressed.Ill put it down to possible new starter, and being a little too loud. Will not be disappointed! Will 100% go again.
Great staff, great food, great cocktails made my daughters birthday celebration extra special!! We love it here!!
Lovely place, and very busy. Staff are overly polite and attentive. If its somewhere you need to go for a couple of hours no problem. But be aware that the tables are always fully booked so you will have to move after 2 hours as its reserved for other clients. No problem as they have the bar area where you can stay.
The food is not bad given the price range and the taste. But the drink selection would be a bit expensive. Overall the decorations and atmosphere are enjoyable.
Had a wonderful birthday/anniversary lunch, were originally on a table next to a quite raucous table but were moved to a quieter spot on request. The food, drinks and service were great. Will certainly return
Went during a lunchtime and the service was absolutely dreadful. We waited 15 minutes just to get water after asking 3 times. Then we had to ask again to have our food ordered. The food came not all at once. At the end we ordered another drink but ended up getting the bill faster than the drink. Loads of tables had dirty plates on which were not cleaned up. Terrible from the Ivy as the restaurant wasn’t even busy at the end. Seemed very short in staffing.
Lovely Sunday brunch. Service was really good. Nice and relaxed.
Nice atmosphere but food was average. Ordered a black cod, flavour was there but fish was over cooked making it a bit tough. The profiterole tower was a highlight though.
Great service, tasty and sophisticated food. Loved the atmosphere and decoration.
Very disappointing. We were served by the waitress with blond hair and a huge neck tattoo and she was clearly disinterested as she took our four orders. This manifested itself in many mistakes in what arrived (the wrong pancakes of the two offered), and then what didn’t arrive - we ordered two toasts with preserves that didn’t arrive, and one of the smoothies didn’t arrive. We mentioned the pancakes and there was an apology and promise to fix in 2 minutes which turned into 10 minutes leaving one person with no breakfast. What arrived was still wrong (no maple syrup but jam like the first one), and when we pointed out the missing toast we had dry toast only delivered to the table with no butter or preserves. I again asked for the order, which needed preserves. The new waitress had no idea what preserves were, and got the manager to come over, who was suggesting we wanted pastries? No! Oh gosh really like pulling teeth to get a fairly simple order delivered. When the preserves came they arrived with no spoons or bread knives - so odd for a supposedly up market place. The manager did discount the pancakes and toast, but really what a mess with what felt like poorly trained staff, not familiar with the menu, and who kept rotating during the process exacerbating the problem. Never saw the lady with the neck tattoo after she took our order. Real shame, not sure why the chaos, but won’t be returning.
Food and service was fantastic and great location, beautiful decor.Went there for the first time, we had fried zucchini to start and for main I had a Chicken Milanese and my girlfriend a Monkfish and prawn curry. The portion were very generous and delicious.Thank you to Alessandro and his team for a great welcome. Well be back for sure!
Lovely restaurant. Very good food in a lively atmosphere. Polite service. Good choice. Wine list quite expensive. We had a very nice Spanish white wine. Would go again for sure.
Amazing experience!! Perfect spot, great brunch options, relaxing ambiance and attending staff members! They all seemed so confident, pleasant and happy! Cant wait to visit again.
You should come here and order to COD in this restaurant,Its a soft and delicious cod ever!
Perfect for lunch not far from Liverpool Street station. Food was fabulous, especially the Chocolate Bomb 😋 and the staff were lovely.
The service is shockingly slow. My waiter was absent most of the time.I had to chase my drinks order after still waiting for over 10 minutes. The staff glaze over when they eyeball the room, so even though they appear to be looking to see if everyone is OK,they cant notice you want assistance, even when you have your hand up.As a single seater I was allocated at the front desk a table number, when I got to it it was very apparent that there was a garden table available. I asked for it and was given it. I got the sense that single customers are not looked after as well as two or more persons. Let me assure you we can spend us much as we often eat and drink faster due to being alone. Nuture them. I couldve drank two more cocktails if I didnt have to wait so long for the three I finally got.The staff seem to only clear some of the table when youve finished each course..and even simple things like not supplying a teaspoon for my tea is just poor service.I want to support restaurants as I know they took such a hit in 2020, but the nonchalant attitude to customers and service upon their return is disappointing. My compliments to the chefs and bartenders who made delicious the delicious food and drink. But the waiting staff need more training and more urgency. READ YOUR REVIEWS IVY CITY. The common thread is your service and how slow it is, it also wouldnt hurt for the staff to smile. Its like when I call upon them im interrupting their work. WE ARE THEIR WORK.Also, ensure your FOH staff offer a garden table when they are clearly available.
We booked this for my graduation celebration and we were absolutely blown away by the food, the decor and the service. Having had a really poor experience the previous evening of a restaurant in London, this place restored my families faith in London entirely. Staff were able to extend my table of five to table or seven at last minute and nothing was too much trouble. The food was just glorious. My brother commented that the Korean chicken was the nicest he had ever tasted and every one of our party was in raptures over their food as well. Service was exemplary and extremely well managed. Staff were polite and attentive and our drinks never ran low. We were seated in a beautiful spot right opposite their garden conservatory opposite the elephant which I was really happy with. My mum took photos of the toilets as they were so beautiful as well! The chocolate bomb was a wonderful spectacle for us all to behold and it finished off the most fantastic meal in style. I just want to thank you all for making my special graduation day even more special. My family laughed for hours and it’s been a long time since we’ve all been together - it really was special for us all. Can’t wait to come back for another visit when we are in London again. Definitely book this place if you’re looking for terrific, fresh food and beautiful decor and an experience.
Superb location. We had a vegetarian breakfast and it was very tasty. Ambience was really good. Only issue was we were being seated very close to another table when the whole restaurant was empty. It would be great to see more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu in future.
A very nice place for breakfast or brunch. It’s in a corporate district so you’ll see a lot of suits, but they’ve managed to make it a great vibe nonetheless. The interior is really cosy with loads of plants. The service is quick and very professional. The food is healthy, fresh, and good quality. Really appreciated that they have a very tasty gluten free bread, which is hard to come by. Would come back!
Quite busy during the lunch break, lovely atmosphere, great menu, delicious food
A fantastic restaurant.Interior is superb, and creates a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.Food was fantastic, and came out piping hot!Staff bend over backwards for you, nothing is too big a request!
Been here for lunch twice now. It really is amazing. I love the decor in the venue and the food is superb.
Its OK. It is what it is. I just dont think its amazing and for the prices I feel bit should be. Nothing particularly wrong, just now wow factor. Oh and if you want to know what a £1 single olive looks like, see the photo....
Best crispy squid I’ve ever had! Sea bass was delicious too. Great atmosphere with fun options. Our server was accommodating and attentive - dinner was lovely.
Highly recommended for business meals. Great menus, good value for money! Vegetarian/vegan options too on a separate menu. Good selection of wines and a delish cocktail menu too. Lovely space and atmosphere.
Very nice place, decent staff and good food. A little dark so if you cant see well bring a torch! They provide a birthday treat when someone in your party is celebrating. The bar didnt really offer tailored drinks and wine was a couple years of vintage disparate from the menu.
Another lovely addition to the Ivy groups restaurant line. Styled in the same familiar fashion. Sadly I think there are probably just s little too many tables clustered together, as the restaurant gets very crowded due the the location. The service was great sad prompt without being pushy. All of our food was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented If you dont mind the crowded environment, go for it. Highly recommended
Usual affairs for an Ivy - beautiful restaurant, lovely vibe, good/ok food at a cost, nice cocktails and variable service. One of the waitresses was very nice and friendly but unfortunately the others were a little less so and not attentive.
The entire experience was excellent. The food was really good, the desserts were excellent. I think the Chocolate Bomb is now my all time favourite dessert. The cocktails impressed as well and the staff was friendly. Really recommend this place, will come again.Note: The restaurant is quite noisy and some tables are quite close together, but if you dont mind that, then you can have a great time here
The service was not that good. Drinks took forever to come. Had issues with the drinks too. Two had to be returned for new ones. The dinner was also cold. Maybe because they wanted to close but first experience was not good for me. The place was nice, cold though. One fireplace was not functional but that happens. The place is pretty though. Love the lady out. Love the windows when going to the toilets.
Had the most amazing service! Food was delicious and our waiter Niko was 5*! He made our experience so great, was so considerate of my best friend’s lactose intolerance and had such great knowledge of the menu - so much so that we asked him how long he’d been there and he said a week! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 just proves how service really does make a meal 10 times more enjoyable!
I really like the interior and they have a good selection of alcohol free drinks. What I miss with the Ivy (goes for all of that locationsis that the food feels too old school, huge portions of unhealthy fatty food.
Great restaurant. Looked fantastic with food to match. All of dishes ordered were delicious. Not too expensive. Great service. Would go again!
Good food and drinks. The decor is very beautiful. However the place is very noisy and we were asked to give our table back. Probably is not the best place to celebrate birthdays.
Hmm. Had a lovely meal. Crab starter. Lobster linguini. The nicest Crème Brûlée I think I’ve ever had. HOWEVER, tempered slightly by the fact that the waiters were not as friendly as I think they should have been. PERFUNCTORY I would say. Also, at £155 for two I have to question the dubious practice of giving you a bottle of tap water that you haven’t asked for at £5 a pop.
I was initially a little put out by the simplicity of some of the dishes, for example the tomato salad side was just tomatoes but the flavours were incredible and the simplicity was beautiful. The decor is stunning and the staff could not do enough for us.
Lovely place for a brunch, pancakes to die for.Busy on Saturday, but they still managed to squeeze us in quite comfortably, even though we didnt have a reservation.Fantastic service!
Absolutely love this place. The food never fails and the staff are great. Cant wait to come back
5 of us for dinner - loved the outside bar. Restaurant was packed & very noisy. After about 9.15 tables around us left & it was much nicer & could chat with those opposite us. Service good and food good too. Not the place to go for a catch up really as it was hard to chat - the St . Johns Wood one best for that scenario we now realise. Overall very nice, lovely decor. Recommend trying .
I visited Ivy City Garden on Saturday 24 July 2021 for my cousin birthday lunch.Delicious food, super friendly staff amd atmosphere was really special.I highly recommend this restaurant!Rib-eye steak was so delicious. Its worth £33 👌
Excellent lunch experience celebrating a girlfriend’s birthday. Lots of variety on the menu to suit all tastes and lovely touch of a glass of champagne for the guests.Good sized portions and their chips are so scrumptious! The birthday girl was presented with a large profiterole and candle to blow out which was a nice touch.Would recommend and will return if I’m in the area.
I visited Ivy City Garden on Monday 17 May for my partners birthday lunch. A wholly delightful experience, staff were happy to be back and full of smiles behind their masks. Complimentary glass of champagne for each of us which the restaurant was offering to guests to celebrate the re-opening. Food was divine as usual and I cant want to visit again hopefully very soon. Thanks for making my OHs birthday super special and our first dining experience since January 2020(!a memorable one for all the right reasons. <3
