Food is okay, Portions a bit small, one of the waiters smelled really sweaty which is really unacceptable.

Delicious ribs with salad and fries, my husband had chateaubriand steak, smooth as butter. Waiter Nicholas was most helpful and friendly. 5 star experience.

Nice ambiance, great steaks cooked to perfection, very tasty sauces. Side dish size of veggies was a bit small. The waiter was very attentive. There was a hot chocolate shot on the house, absolutely yummi.

This is one of the best restaurants to try in Stellenbosch. We went there for dinner and will definitely be back. The ambiance is very pleasant and the food is delicious. The environment is unique as well. They also gave us some complimentary chocolate vodka shots which we absolutely loved.

Went for their date night on Tuesdays and Im really impressed. The Hussar Grill red wine was so good and the burger patty top-class. For this special, you can choose 2 out of 3 courses and I would suggest to go for the starter and main in stead of the main and dessert (as we didbecause the chocolate martini at the end is sweet enough on its own.

This place was very disappointing. The service was very slow for one. The staff does not know how to manage a busy night. The kitchen is awfully slow too and the food was awful. The worst burger i have ever had, we sent it back and when they brought a new one, it was far worse than the first one.

When you walk into this place you immediately know it’s going to be a delicious feast. The service is great with friendly staff. I ordered the Kingklip and I would order it again and again. It was flavory, juicy and just fantastic. What made me give them an extra star was the complementary chocolate vodka shot at the end of the evening. They definitely know how to keep you happy and full.

Amazing service. We had a steak that had a bit too much sinew and with out us even asking, I believe the manager, asked our table if we would like a replacement steak and even replace the sider. Over all a great experience and a mazing food. 10/10

We were excited to go out to dinner here but were a little let down. I ordered a medium rare rump, which came out well done but they happily redid the steak for me, unfortunately it came out Blue. While the service was great and we enjoyed the night, I was a bit disappointed that a steak house struggled to serve a great steak.However, things happen and we would still go back for more, as well as try many other great looking dishes on the menu.

The key to any good restaurant is consistency. Consistently serve your good food the same way, people are creatures of habit. The service has to be consistent. No matter who serves you it needs to be to standard. And the Hussar grill in Stellenbosch meets the above. Great meal all around and great service from beginning to end. We stopped for an impromptu lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I tend to avoid the franchise type restaurants. Service was exceptional, the food was delicious and the pricing excellent. I will be happy to return.

Was not happy with the treatment at all. Reserved a table for 2 and got there 30mins after only to be taken to another place that does not good looking at all and there were many tables not occupied. I had chosen this restaurant because of the dinning look only to be disappointed when l arrived with my special guest. Had no choice but to look for another restaurant with a guest imagine, which took us more time. You did not even deserved my one star.

Theres balance between the ambience n maturing magnum bottles of wine of best farms in Stellenbosch such as Muratie, Delaire Graff, Tokara etc.Very professional staff. Clean restrooms. Intimate environment.Above all, well prepared meals. Made out of love, the taste proves it.

The service was OK, they kept us informed of any delays, but waiting an hour for steak was a bit too much for me. When the steak came, it was just fat, even though I ordered a fillet. My friend ordered the same as me and theirs was a better cut than mine. It was Valentines day, so maybe this was a factor perhaps? It just felt like we were an inconvenience. I feel there is better places to eat in Stellenbosch, with better and quicker service.

chain restaurant specialising in meat. Decent size portions and reasonable value for money but unfortunately the game steak was inedible; tough and chewy with little flavour. A generally average meal was perked up at the end by a warm chocolate vodka shot.

What an amazing experience. Had dinner there this evening. When booking our table we were asked if the booking was for a special occasion. Didn’t expect a card waiting for us at our table wishing us a happy anniversary with complimentary sparkling wine. Went the extra mile. Conrad, our waiter, was also great. Fillet and burger cooked to order which is rarely done right. Will be back when in the area again for sure.

Be sure to book to avoid disappointment. Had awesome steaks, grilled halloumi and chicken strips followed by ice-cream and Malva. All excellent. Service was great and this restaurant comes highly recommended.

Hosting was OK. Place not family friendly, we managed with our small kids. And food was OK. Waiter didnt ask how I want my steak, she assumed I wanted it medium and I like it medium rare.

Not someone for bad reviews. This was not the greatest experience. 2/5 orders were incorrect due even though it was written down. When we mentioned one of the burgers had avo on it and the lady cannot eat avo, our waiter (shaunpicked up the top bun with his bare hands to check??? This is very strange, this is not normal behaviour even more so not in Covid times. The same bun returned and still had avo on it. This should not be happening. The beer was cold and great, the steaks were beatiful and to our medium rare satisfaction. The chicken livers and calamari strips were excellent.

Wonderful grill house. We enjoyed the ostrich and kudu here. The restaurant does not charge a corkage fee so you can bring a few bottles along to pair with your dinner. Would recommend.

Brilliant steak, nice staff and very good wine as well!! I enjoyed it and can recommend to eat there. You feel very welcome.

Our waitress was fabulous! The food was good. The wine was fabulous. We got a bunch of sides that we really enjoyed and the meat was great. Corn side was really tasty. Greek salad was just okay but everything else was amazing. Got custard and Don Pedro for dessert and both were great. Waitress brought us great end of the meal chocolate vodka shot. Waitress joked with us whole time and put up with corny dad jokes. They also bring you greek olives and potato crisps to snack on while you wait for food. A little pricey but not really bad when you compare what you get for the price. We would go back.

A Definite favorite for special occasions. A wide range of wine to select from different regions in the western Cape. Their Steak is always cooked to perfection with mouth watering side dishes of your choice. Friendly and attentive staff in a formal but accessible setting. This establishment was established in 1962, turning out meal by meal and providing good times to those who enter her doors. This heritage is evident in the atmosphere of the restaurant, with heavy leather chairs to sit on and thick book lined walls around you - as if taking a turn a few years back in time.The Hussar Grill has an expensive air about it and the average meal price matches that.The wait was around 50 minutes from order to mains, so expect a hefty drinking bill.The food was exceptionally tasty and left me feeling satisfied, but I couldnt help feeling I expected more for the price.I would recommend it for the cozy atmosphere and delicious meals, but avoid it if price is a factor.

Loved my experience at the Hussar Grill. The ambiance was great (lots of people meant waiting a bit to get a table)... Prince, the gent who waited on us was cheerful and had great knowledge of the menu and the winelist. The food itself was delicious. I had rump steak and chips. It was made to my requested temperature. Highly recommend this restaurant in the heart of Stellenbosch.

Worst experience ever! Dont try it because I did!1.Long time waiting to be served even though only 3 tables were having drinks.2.Asked for a fresh fruit juice and I got a bottled juice, but the waitress said it was freshly squeezed...few days ago I would add.3.Decided for a coffee and got a very dirty cup as you can see in the photo. When I asked the waitress to bring me another coffee in a clean cup she said its only a few stains, but she did a big effort to take the cup and clean the rim.We also asked for a tea and the cup was so filthy like it wasnt even washed after the previous client used it.How can you not be ashamed when you come and serve me filthy crockery after I just told you that I am not happy with the dirty cup of coffee? And even worst, you expect a min 10% tips. But of course no one cares as long as they have clients...I was about to cancel the order and leave, but my husband was starving and after seeing so many good reviews we decided to give it a chance. So we ordered some "fresh" meals:4. Roasted veggies were actually some green veggies microwaved for 10 minutes with some oil added at the end5. The sirloin had nothing to do with the photos you see on their social media. It was old/ stale and black and of course freshly microwavedNot to mention that the plates were also dirty with black fingertipsI cannot understand how this terrible restaurant gets to have so many good reviews and clients and its not even cheap

Fantastic. Meat meat meat and more meat. I havent seen such a large selection of steaks in years. In fact the selection would put many butchers to shame. The t-bone (600gand large fillet (300gwere showstoppers. The sides made a brilliant meal even better. The staff were attentive and friendly. The bill was easy on the pocket and I would gladly pay more for such a good meal. The fat bastard wine brought a smile to my face in every way!!
