Brick-lined hot spot for choice espresso, small-batch spirits & clever light bites, plus live music.
The House of Machines in Cape Town
Description
Great coffee and staff, such a cool vibe
Definitely one of my favorite dives in Cape Town. The live music is always solid and very entertaining. The staff are all really nice and they do a pretty good job of servicing during peak business hours. The drinks are cold and the food menu is one of my favorite things about the place. Try their hot dogs, they are the best in town.
MoreVery cool pub.Try thier old fashioned whiskey.
Nice bar with a lot of live music. Couple of craft beers and nice whiskeys.
No respect for the customer really I went out and didnt order anything
The girl with a fully stocked bar told me she can’t mix a Singapore Sling. Should you really bother visiting a place like this?
MoreAmazing place in Capetown with amazing people! Great time here!!
Good vibes only. Cape Towns melting pot. Drinks are always on point, food is amazing, the staff are friendly and attentive, their coffee hits the spot, and the music brings it all together. The House has yet to disappoint me.
MoreThe best spot for life music, for good people and for the food. Everyone is friends. The best.
MoreGreat pub, great beer. Decent cocktails. Staff are very good.
Amazing drinks and vibe as always. Well deserved worlds #92 best bar
Very classy and good music!! The street vibe is very cool
AMAZING music venue in a top location with excellent service and great prices.
Great vibe and good music every night. Early morning coffee is a great way to start the day. ☕👍
MoreGreat little venue, so much character with amazing hotdogs and merchandise.
Awesome "Old timer Whiskey" and brandy. Will recomend any time for the whiskey.
One of the best bar/pubs in Cape Town. Ive been coming here since 2016 now and never been disappointed. The cocktails are not your usual run of the mill that you get everywhere. Weekend live music is always a bonus with a drink. If you are in Cape Town, do visit this gem.
MoreNice pub, great outdoor seating & pedestrian mall location, really good coffee . . .
MoreReally awesome vibe! Werner bekker played there that night and it was so nice. The staff were friendly, the decor is funny and cool, the vibe was so good.
MoreCozy venue with trendy biker decor and vibe. Love the live music and excellent food with super friendly staff. Have always had a good time here and keep going back for more.
MoreThis my quiet space. This is where come to for a beer 🍺 and for a bit of me time. Chilled atmosphere.
MoreHad a great Frankie Fenner burger and drink. Would recommend for a great casual experience.
MoreAwesome place with the best old fashioned in town. Small little bar with a few seats outside. Great little spot for cocktails, beer, wine, whiskey and also good live music. Definitely a must visit
MoreGreat Bar service, place was busy and barman made 2 cocktails for the ladies and 2 whiskey sours for the gents. He still had time to explain the menu etc awesome service! Morning coffee the service is just as good.
MoreReceived absolutely shocking treatment from the moment we walked in.1The waitrons refusing to serve us drinks despite having time2Refusing to give us cutlery or condiments3When we asked if we could fetch the condiments ourselves, we were giving death stares and told to back off4When we asked why we couldnt, we were just told Maybe dont ask for things? We werent loud, we werent rude, in fact we did almost nothing before the poor treatment started. Im tempted to say that the reason our group was treated like this was because it contained a few people who werent white, but I dont need to take it there - nothing warrants treatment like this.
MoreWent for our usual rooster dog and found buns have changed and dogs are not as good and cheddar cheese was missing. Pity they used to be great. Now just a crumbly dry bun for R85.
MoreGood service. Good drinks. Nice vibe but know what you get into
Great vibe and possibly the best Old Fashioned in Cape Town. God for the open mic night on Tuesday.
MoreHi ,it is a nice place. However the evening that I was there, the music selection was so niche that it excluded everyone apart from the DJ himself.
MoreAmazing venue, try the Moscow mules!
Awesome vibe and awesome people; definitely coming back.
The best place you never knew before.Local favourite.Best house G&TBest old fashioned in CT
MoreAmazing and authentic chill place to hang with mates and watch live music every evening served by a great staff !
MoreGreat place. Went to watch a friend perform on Open Mic they had Tuesday. Getting a drink was delayed but understand cause it was busy. Will be back to check out their gubs to chow.
MoreMe and my wife both had burgers. We added onion rings and the beef fat fries chips. Everything was really tasty and the cocktails was different than the usual, but a very good different.
MoreA small but a great experience, some old school music and great drinks
Very cool place with good coffee. The outside furniture could need some TLC, unless of course it is intended in that way….in which it would be better to focus on the coffee than on the comfort of the seating.
MoreAlways a pleasure to grab the first coffee of the day at THOM Cape Town. Friendly faces and other bikes make me feel right at home.
MoreGreat coffee and great food. Really cool aymosphere and style. I had the avo on toast and it was great!
MoreVery nice place to enjoy a good coffee and delicious breakfast or sandwiches. The vibe is very good especially for bike love us and you always have some BMW motor bikes in front of the store. The only downside is that sometimes homeless people beg for food if you sit outside.
MoreZero points for effort on this eggs on toast breakfast. This "scrambled" eggs appears to be a chopped up fried egg. No butter on the toast, no seasoning on the eggs, dry and tasteless! And the bacon was an added extra!? Sis man. Took the meal back and the manager didnt bother to apologise nor were we offered a refund. I loved this place, but never coming back.
MoreRelaxed spot with super friendly and helpful staff! No matter who you are or where youre from, youll feel welcome and at home at the House of Machines
MoreNovember 2019 - we stopped in with Cape Fusion Tours & what a fun place! We visited with Brian & imbibed in an old fashion cocktail as well as an espresso martini.
MoreNice vibe and friendly staff. There are live bands playing weekly. The music covers anwide variety of genres, from hard rock to jazz. The biker theme suits it well and you will always see motorcycles parked outside. Dont bother trying to park there with a car. You will never find parking.
MoreA really cool biker styled café with some super amazing hot chocolate and some nice light meals. A good place to meet people as the vibe is good for conversations. They have snapscan making payment easy and quick. Parking is no problem if you on a motorcycle however it can be problematic with a car. The entrance is wheelchair friendly however not the bathroom.
MoreQl#Amazing place well know for their great coffee and beer selection oh yes they do sell beer as well its amazing small place in short market street but the service of the staff and the friendliness is out of this world they know how to Make you Feel at home. During the night they have live performances from variety of artists locally from Capetown believe me a good beer and good music is the remedy for the soul says the wise man. Give them a visit. And you are guaranteed to leave as a happy customer. Viva T. H. O. M🌅#DBAD
MoreGreat atmosphere at any time of day. And great bartenders! Had an epic show going on as well. Only downside was the vienna sausage i bought was cold and ended up throwing it up later...
MoreAmazing staff, wonderful coffee and delicious food. And the regulars are like a family and show great hospitality. One of Cape Towns finest establishment. Also a cool biker hangout spot 💪🏼
MoreOne of those small, long and narrow bars with high ceilings in the heart of the city center. Dark-wood interiors but adequately lit. They play some of the best tunes from the 1980’s. Mostly alternative music.Reminds me of downtown NYC. Has a cool motorbike shop tucked in at the back. You will see loads of tattoos and helmets but it really is not one of those kinds of joints.Love the Amber Weiss beer - which is always cold but does come in at a hefty R50 a pint. Always a couple of suits hanging around after work having drinks. One of the few place in the city where you will find proper Mount Gay rum.
MoreFun place to go for a drink with friends. Love the vibe here. Highly recommend ordering an Old Fashioned here. Definitely one of the best in Cape Town.Come here if you are looking for live music or to enjoy some down town between the galleries in the heart of the city during First Thursdays! Also enjoy great coffee in the morning for a different experience
