The Hound Hut in Murray Bridge
Description
Privilege
Perfect chips. Salted beautifully. Drinks were nice, dining area nice. Pool table couldnt hold my weight however.
MorePlease change your opening times on Google maps as its says you open at 6am but when we arrived a sign on your door says its not open until 9am.
Moremy experiences have always been good. fish was yum
Best hotdog in the Murray bridge
Great fresh food cooked while we waited
Very shocked by the Roast meals being offered now on Sundays, its smaller size, its more a snack than a meal, but also no flexibility in vegetable choices either is not good. Simply not good value, such a shame. Could have been a great meal option.
MoreBig feed. Pieces of crumbed butter fish were huge. Chips cooked to perfection. Put through a phone order to avoid the wait, but well worth the 20min cook time. Will be back...
MoreBest coffee I’ve had in a long time!. Nicest chips in town. Stopped on my way through, staff are lovely very chatty and energetic. Very very pleased with my order and customer service. Will be recommending to everyone!!!.
MoreThe new owners are great and the service was awesome. Food was really good and price was affordable.
MoreNew owners, on 2 occasions ordered fish and chips & they where dry and over cooked, very disappointing.
MoreAwful chips, oily fish, cold soggy dim sims. Yuk!What happened to this place? They used to be amazing.
MoreThe chips here are great but I reckon that the hours should be until at least 8.30pm/9pm on weekends?
MoreI recon this is where Jesus came for his 2 fish that fed the 2000 people!!! #HUGE

MoreGot told about this place last Saturday and have been a few times over the last week and the food has been absolutely fantastic. If your stopping by Murray Bridge definitely make a stop for some great food and great service.
MoreGreat food and the gaming next door is great for family entertainment :Good suggestion Tamzen!
MoreTold 35-40 minute wait ended up being well over an hour... and the whole time they were taking more phone orders and telling them all 35 minutes but there was not a hope in hell of it only being 35 minutes...Chicken schnitzel burger had half a snitzel at best and was McDonalds burger like small.. not what you expect from a takeaway shop.Yiros had stuck hard to the wrapping and had to be unpeeled...Tasted good in the end, but were fed up by then.
MoreBest fish and chips in the Bridge. Gr8 friendly service. Keep up the good work guys🤗
MoreReally nice people!Best Hot Dogs in the Bridge 👍👍👍
Love the food and the chocolate custard with cream desserts there and the steak burger with the lot just wish they had delivery then Id order from there more often as dont always have the option to drive all the way there. My favorite dinner spot in past few weeks.😍🤤😁
MoreJust had the best hot dog and frappe of my life, I was literally eating all of the droppings left over! Not only do they do just4kids fundraisers, these folks have a heart of gold with good intentions. Had a lovely chat with the owners Mark and Janelle whilst ordering my food. Good food, good people and great customer service. I’ll be back. Thanks guys!
MoreGreat Tasty juicy burgers. A burger each, fed 2 hungry boys from Melbourne on a business trip.
MoreFish was great but sadly the chips are very poor. This is 2nd visit was hoping it was one of but no. Sadly it appears to be frozen chips used. Plus too many bits of chips and very over cooked. If the cooks take a look at the KFC chips, thats how chips are supposed to be. But the fish was excellent. Great service though and friendly staff.
MoreOrdered a roast chicken roll with Mayo.Got a sloppy roast chicken roll with loads of gravy and mayo, it was un eatable had to feed it to my dog.Got a refund but so many excuses over the phone when I rang.
MoreNice very nice Oh so is the fish & chips
Worse chips ever, overcooked , dry to the point of no potato left in the chip. My husband and i threw them away. How does a chip shop not know how to cook chips, its not that hard.
MoreNew owner! When we arrived we didnt realise it was 20 minutes after closing time , they were still very busy cooking orders, lots of people in the shop waiting. They still took our order for four burgers with the lot. Good food, good customer service.
MoreHad the chicken schnitzel burger with the lot, O….M…..G…. Was this thing perfectly cooked and tasted awesome 🤙🏻🤙🏻
MoreWe Ordered a large amount of hot chips. They were soggy. Under cooked and lacked salt. Not enjoyable at all.
MoreMost amazing food for a really great price!Quick meal prep, great staff, excellent variety - best place to go to in Murray Bridge for a meal.
MoreAwesome place to get something to eat ....great service...good prices
I think that the oil in the fryers needed changing, as the food didnt taste that good & was over cooked
MoreGreat coffee, also the best bacon and egg sangas.Only 1 problem - too cheap for the quality and service..Thumbs up.Im serious the prices are cheap...2 toasted sandwiches and 1 long black plus 1 Cappuccino $19...
MoreWent there tonight for take away ordered various meals burgers ,hot dogs ect approx 20 mins between each order when recieved it was cold bad service never again no decent take away places in Murray Bridge you have to go to Tailembend. Meningie, orMannum for decent food
MoreExcellent quality of food - fresh salad and well cooked hamburger very delicious. Fast service and friendly. Very clean shop and everything looked fresh and well made. Totally recommend
MoreFabulous food and wonderful service the chips and burgers are worthy of the trip from Adelaide to get some fantastic chips burgers and hotdogs so come on down to this wonderful place for some great food
MoreI like it very much the two fish with chips and tartar sauce was the best ever I be going back for sure
MoreGreat food, most of the time. Friendly staff
Foods always really good, if you like your chips extra crunchy, ask them to fry yours a little longer and theyre perfect. But if youre like my mum, and you like them on the softer side, theyre perfect already. The customer service is lovely, and the deserts they have are amazing everytime.
MoreMy order was great, the Chicken Schnitzel with the lot Burgers were really nice, the Crab Sticks were nice, so was the Chiko Roll, only thing that let my order down was the chips were overcooked. All in all, was a great experience, great staff too
MoreFirst time there and very happy with our Fish and Chips. 20 min wait as soooo busy but worth the wait. Next time i will know to ring my order through.
MoreAlways great quality food. Highly recommend their butterfish and definitely cannot forget their amazing pavlovas. The best.
MoreLove the food here.. It was good over 27 years ago when I lived in this place.. always fresh & cooked perfectly AAA+++
MoreFair pricing great food on the go, usually grab a burger with pineapple or a hot dog with the lot. Good place to grab a bite with the kids on a road trip because they have toilets as well.
MoreThis place doesnt look like much from outside, but the food is great. Fast service and friendly staff. They even have a sit down area inside, out of the weather to eat your meals. This place is famous for its selection of hotdogs, and the fame is well deserved.
MoreGreat takeaway shop with a dine in option. Just good old fashioned fish and chips and burgers etc. Pricing is great, food is delicious, friendly staff and a great atmosphere! Highly recommend!
MoreIf i had a choice to go to "Chianti", "Jamies Italian", or "Hound Hut", I would pick hound hut every time. it has a certain charm that i have never seen before anywhere I have visited, when i step in i feel like i have been blasted back to the mid 90s and back to a simpler time. it is not something any other restaurant has or ever can replicate, its like a brilliantly preserved time capsule on the main road from Murray Bridge to Adelaide that you would probably drive past and not give a second thought as i did for many years even as a local, a hidden gem if you will. when entering you are greeted with that all familiar "ding dong" of the store alerting the eager staff to your arrival to their humble establishment. their are arcade machines and comfortable waiting seats that when rested upon allow you to appreciate its full scope and majesty.the art on the wall intensifies the nostalgia and do even get me talking about the timber they used or this review will be simply unending. once you have taken in the pure scope of the place you will be greeted by friendly staff who are extremely eager to take your order that I might add is exceptional value for money, and if someone as tight with their money as i am is telling you, that is saying something. the classic written with chalk menu bored behind the counter makes me smile of its design and simplicity to follow as i choose my order from the large variety of classic fish and chip shop choices that if you are not watching yourself carefully you will burst into tears at its greatness. it is ether take away or dine in (i would highly recommend dining in to appreciate finer detailed that you wouldnt have gotten from just taking your order home to enjoy, from the classic boom box with cassette player on the drink fridge, to the brilliant placement of the bathroom stalls that seem to blend into the wall and not realising they are bathrooms until you actually see the sign that says bathroom with the little people. in no time at all your meal will be brought to you giving Fasta Pasta a run for its money. the minimum chips are enough to feed a family of Ethiopian children for 2 weeks, the utter volume of chips inside my bowl was absolutely mind blowing and it was so dencly packed i was worried the mass would create a black hole. absolutely. exceptional. the flavors that run through your taste pallet, I would also recommend you bring someone with you to pinch your arm to be sure you havent died and gone to heaven. the flavors of the chicken salt and fried potato whips through me with every bite, and like the timber used in the restaurant, dont even get me started on how great the fish is! absolutely exquisite that i wouldnt be surprised if the Hindu god Matsya, the fish god itself was what i was consuming.I would say that the only complaint i have is the seats are fixed to the floor making it harder for me to get closer to my meal but this is minor compared to the positives.all in all i would recommend the Hound Hut to anyone and i challenge anyone to find a more heavenly place on earth than this. if you liked simpler times and want to have a break from your stressful life and indulge in a magnificent meal any time of the day, this is the place for you.
MoreWent to Hound Hut last week for 2 milkshakes as it was hot and the local IGA recommended them for milkshakes.Really enjoyable refreshing experience and we said we would get the same again when next in Murray Bridge.TODAY we ordered the same, it took some time to make 2 milkshakes.Driving down to Adelaide took the anticipated taste test....Thoughly dissapointed to be charged $11 for cool milk with a small amount of flavouring and that was all................no ice cream at all unlike the previous week.Poor effort from the Hound Hut
MoreThe place doesnt look much from the outside, but looks can be deceiving! Just had one of the best fish and chip meals weve had for quite some time, and excellent value as well.Staff very friendly and enthusiastic, which is always a good sign.
MoreOrdered $8 chips and I wouldve got double for $5 else where, they were soggy and very dissapointing. Serves of chips need to be more generous and definitely recommend stabbing holes in the paper wrapping to help the chips breath so theyre not soggy.
