We went for the Fall Festival and had a great time. I’d never been before and loved the informative signs and demonstrations. So cool to learn about the fort and its history.

We stopped here as an impromptu stop and it turned out to be a lot of fun! I love dressing up and inside the museum they had a little dress up area which I of course got silly with. They had a few different exhibits inside the building, while outside they had a whole array of old buildings from different times and placements. The handout they give you has a good little tibit about each place on the land and what it is. The only unfortunate part is that it is very spread out, so it can be a lot of walking from one point to the next. I hope to see them get some more things for the spaces between so there is more to walk to when heading from one to another. Overall its a nice museum for 4$ a person, it takes a few hours to see and appreciate it all.

A nice museum thats free to Missoula residents and $4 per adult. Whole families are never more than $10. Has an indoor area to tour as well as grounds with old historical buildings. They were even setting up for a beautiful outdoor wedding the day we went. Very beautiful place!

Went here a few times since living here. Today was the 4th of July celebration. The buildings were open, food trucks and activities were happening. It was a fun place to be. Hope to come back and visit the military museum soon!

The Historical Museums at Fort Missoula Regional Park interested me the most, particularly regional history. The outdoor exhibits alone are worth a walk through. I liked the old sawmill equipment. At certain times of the year they demonstrate the saws. There are railroad cars, a lookout tower, log cabins, indoor museum, and military history. There is a separate military museum and another exhibit about the WW2 detention camp which I found as a sobering aspect of US history.

We didnt have much time to spend, but we spent about a half-hour in the museum and the same outside. We particularly like the outside buildings and exhibits. There was a number of types of displays: the fort and pioneer buildings, railroad, timber industry, forest fire management, military, and internment camp.

You can see a lot of old sawmill, farming and old buildings here. I walked around in the snow and it was about 25 degrees so didnt stay long. Ill go back and see the museum and more on another day.

I never liked history much growing up, so the museum had a lot of info that was new to me (even having grown up in Missoula). Theyve got lots of info on the fort itself, as well as two current exhibits, one about the forestry service fire prevention history, and one about the internment of Japanese aliens at the fort during WW2.Theres a good hour plus just in the historical museum, and theres a couple other museums dedicated to different subjects. Its enough for a good afternoon in the winter. And it sounds like during the summer when all the outbuildings are open, theres enough to explore to make a whole day of it.

Very interesting and in depth knowledge of the history of the fort. It was a great way to learn a lot and get some exercise. The dog park at the fort looked really nice too although we didn’t have time to bring the dogs there.

A fascinating look at the history of the area starting in the 1870s. One unique bit of information was that 200 African American soldiers were stationed there with bicycles as their transportation.

$4 is a deal for this place in my eyes. We had a little time to kill so we stopped in and toured the grounds a little bit. Lot of things to see and read about. Staff were very friendly. We didn’t see it all though so now we have an excuse to come back through Missoula 😁. Thanks for preserving the history!

Not all of the buildings are original to the fort. There were several that were moved to the spot for preservation, so it was a little disappointing. There is a lot of history here though. And the buildings that were original to the fort are well cared for. Theres also a forestry museum attached to this, with old buildings and items for educational purposes.

What an amazing experience - take the guided tour led by Cassie! She is a fact filled power house deliverer of history - an hour and a half later and our group wanted her to keep going! This fort is packed with history - you will not be disappointed - adjacent to a beautiful park.

Great place to visit at any time of the year! My son enjoys going here whenever we can, there is so much touchable history it keeps him engaged and with so much being outside he is able to run around and burn energy. If you need a break from the elements there are also indoor spaces, like the war museum! There is something for everyone!

Read a review that said the person spent two hours here. Thought it looked interesting and would be one of a couple stops for the day since the main museums were closed. We ended up staying around 6 hours enjoying all the history and exhibits that were open. Im a fan of history and would definitely recommend spending the day. Were planning on going back to see a couple things we missed and would love to come back when everything is open. Also it was great being able to wonder around outside taking in the sights with our dog. We did take turns in the buildings since we figured he probably wasnt allowed in.

This was a great place to take a pit stop while cross-country drive. There is so much history in this small town, it is so exciting to learn about the people of these small towns that contribute to the larger picture that makes Americans who and what we are today. The museum was closed when we drove through town, but we did walk the grounds in late afternoon and had a very relaxing time.

So much historical information packed in here! Was much larger than I was expecting. Lots of old logging machinery, a lookout tower, historic buildings, gallery about Thomas Meagher, and a particularly excellent and enlightening exhibit about the internment at Ft Missoula during World War II.Give yourself at least 2 hours to view everything - 3 hours is ideal!

I thought I would see the original Fort, but it burned down and whats here are many historical buildings brought here for display. The old one room school house was cool as was the saw mill. But the Trolley Barn was locked and I would liked to have gone in, as was the Military Museum!

We very nice small Museum clearly in the growing phase. Inside the building were lots of well-done exhibits of local area history just like youre hoping to see. Plan to spend at least an hour in the main building before Im going outside to the lumber and Equipment exhibits. They have a forest service observation tower that was moved when it was abandoned and set up here. A shay locomotive that it looks like theyre thinking about firing up judging by the work, lots of interesting logging cranes and other tractor equipment from the 1900s 1950s all available to walk through look at it up close to without interference. They have a railroad Depot display with a model train layout, a demonstration lumbermill that they actually operate and lots of other outdoor displays plan to spend a couple hours Outdoors as well as the hour indoors. For a town this size this is a great museum and if youre into this while worth the stop. Just around the corner is a military museum for the area as well so you can spend nearly a day here without leaving.

This museum was alright. Staff is friendly, but honestly the inside was small and many of the artifacts are generic and not specific to the area. Didnt seem worth $4 per person to me. However, the outside buildings were pretty interesting. I say save your money and just check out the grounds.
