Brilliant Sunday roasts and the only place I know of locally that give you the option to have beef/lamb pink as opposed to well done like most other restaurants.

Been here a couple of times and service/food is generally good however on last occasion we were bitterly disappointed. Had a 3pm Sunday booking only to be told they only had pork roast left. Annoying but okay, 15 mins later, then get told that they’re out of vegetables and are peas alright. Changed order completely to something else but myself (and otherswere shocked that they’re sold out of roasts by 3pm on a Sunday!!

Very poor. Food was poor, nowhere near up to the standard it used to be. Service terrible. Unwelcoming, bordering on rude, slow and no checkbacks given, then we were rushed at the end of our meal because we had nearly exceeded the 3 hours allowed for our booking, except we had 45 minutes left and had all planned on ordering coffees. Will not return, new management have spoilt what was once a gem of an establishment.

We booked online for 4:30pm. The service was great, the guys were really attentive but the beef roast was one of the worst I’ve had. It came absolutely swimming in gravy, not even homemade, the roast potatoes were deep fried and there was just no taste to anything. The beef was so chewy because it was full of fat. For £21.50 I’d have expected better. So I left most of it and thought I’d fill myself up on a pudding… only to be told that they’d stopped serving puddings for that day. What? It was 5pm!So I think it’s safe to say I wont be returning.

Really really really good food. A perfect burger, highly recommended fried chicken starter and the chocolate fudge brownie was so good we ordered it again as soon as the first one went down. Proper good food!

Second visit to this pub in the last few months and I have to say I think this might be the best pub for food and service in the area. Highly recommended!

I don’t usually do this and am not someone who appreciates people running down local businesses but on this occasion I just have to post. So booked to go for a Sunday roast in The Harrow Chaldon, our kitchen is being redone so I was really looking forward to a home cooked meal. We arrived and were told by the waiter that he’d tell us about the roasts after he’d taken our drinks order so we ordered drinks. The waiter then told us they only had 3 roasts left (there were 4 of uswe were obviously disappointed and wondered why we hadn’t been told straight away. The waiter said he’d reserve the roasts and left us to debate what we wanted to do. We couldn’t be bothered to go elsewhere so decided to stay put and one of us would choose something else from the menu. The drinks were served by someone else and our waiter finally came back to us only to tell us there were now only 2 roasts left! So he hadn’t put them aside for us. He told us the chef would make us sirloin steak with all the roast trimmings. A great solution (or so we thoughtAnyway 20 mins later the meals arrived swimming in gravy with the most gristly horrid pieces of steak. We asked for horse radish sauce and a bowl so I could drain my plate of gravy! These things never arrived and we had to ask again and wait a further several minutes! The owner came over ten mins after we finished eating and asked us how things had been, the gristle left on the plate said it all! We gave her our feedback constructively, explained we were disappointed that there were no more roasts left but had appreciated the gesture of the sirloins but the meat was awful, plate swimming in gravy, and we didn’t understand why we weren’t told about roasts being sold out before ordering drinks, also our waiter wasn’t very attentive so overall it wasn’t a great experience. The owner told us she would take a view on the bill, said they’d not changed anything since our last visit etc etc.! We were made to feel like serial complainers. It was obvious by the meat left on the plate that it wasn’t edible. Anyway 5 minutes later the husband (owner, also the chefcame over, told us he’d heard every word we’d said (we complained constructively, not raised our voicesthen in an absolutely aggressive fashion I have never experienced before in any establishment he cleared our table of unfinished drinks and told us we were barred. Absolutely no words, we left in utter disbelief. Our friends have used this pub as their local for years and years. If you own a business you really have to be open to complaints. With this attitude I don’t expect them to retain customers. With their complete inability to deal with valid complaints over poor service and poor food quality they won’t survive. Never have we ever been treated this way. Usual practice would be to apologise and take something off the bill. Utterly shocked and disgusted.

Havent been to The Harrow for many a year. And what a wonderful place it remains. The food was not only excellent but the portion size was great and would satisfy the most robust appetite! The surroundings were lovely and the staff were soon attentive and polite. I will definitely be going back soon and if you are in the same situation as me, the slightly longer drive to the venue is definitely worth it!

We havent been to Harrow for many years abd were very pleasantly surprised by the very much improved menu and decor. We popped in for lunch and have to admit the food is very good too expensive for a regular visit. There is very little bar food but a good choice neverless. It manages to straddle the pub/gastropub image very well. It is wise to book as it is popular.

Im disappointed.I came in two Sundays ago for the first time in a while for a family lunch. I have absolutely no complaints about the food as this was very nice, however the presentation of food and the service we received was disappointing.Staff were moody and seemed as though they didnt want to be there, they were very heavy handed when placing plates on the table, and almost dropped chocolate sauce on one of us; a waiter also proceeded to scrape plates in front of us.We were rushed to leave the table and pressured into leaving a tip even though we still had 20 minutes left on the table.Overall this experience has completely deterred me from retuning, which is a shame as I used to enjoy coming here.

Disappointing. The food (Roast Chicken - we visited on a Sundaywas beautifully cooked but was lacking in vegetables - it was also served with gravy already covering the entire meal rather than in a seperate jug...not an issue for me as this is how I would have eaten it, but this could put some people off.The actual service wasnt good either, we had several waiting staff serving us (who seemed to range in experiencebut none were particularly friendly and one even proceeded to scrape the plates at the table! At the point of paying, the staff were quite pushy about tips, even though the service wasnt up to the standard that I would leave a tip...the receipt was then studied by staff after payment - Im guessing to see if we had tipped! We were then virtually asked to leave as the table was needed - even though the was another table of the same size that was empty and without a reserved sign and our 2-hour booking still had time left....I wonder what would happen if we had had starters and a coffee after - would we be asked to leave our table before finishing?Overall, service and serving staff really need to be improved as this has gone downhill greatly since my earlier visits and previous 5 star review!

We came here for a late lunch after a friend said the food here was excellent. Service was a bit slow, it felt like a long wait until our order was taken.Smoked haddock pate was lovely. Accompanying chutney wasnt and didnt get eaten.Burgers were very nice but the amount of cheese in the cheeseburger and Stilton in the blue burger was rather meagre and could barely be tasted. Was surprised not to be asked how I wanted burger cooked, normally expect a choice of medium or well done but without being asked it was perfect.Tried the 4 dessert platter. One was unavailable so two of one given. The crumble was very nice but the piece of sticky toffee pudding was about half the size of my thumb and as it was advertised as "suitable for sharing" with less than a teaspoon each this seemed a bit of a stretch.Baileys Hot chocolate was a nice end to meal. The decor was odd. Pictures clearly taken down as holes in walls and lights still present. Painted stone wall was just ugly.Overall it was okay but a few tweaks here and there could make it much better.

Disappointing visit on Sunday. This used to be our "go to" venue of choice but not any more.Food was of high quality, but hardly any vegetables served with the roast dinner. Service was appalling, unfriendly to the point of being hostile. The plates were practically dropped onto the table in front of us, and when collected they were scraped at the table in front of us.When given the bill the staff member was pushy about electronic tips and hovered by our shoulder watching to see if we were going to tip or not.We knew at the point of booking that the table was ours for 2 hours, however with over 40 minutes left, as we were finishing our drinks we overheard one staff member telling another "We are just waiting for them to leave" even though there were empty tables in the restaurant so clearly not actually waiting for our table. 10 minutes later a member of staff came and told us that she had forgotten to let us know when we were seated that we only had limited time and the table was needed in 30 minutes. We were made to feel so unwelcome that it had the desired effect, we finished our drinks, left and will not be returning again!

Quite simply, the best pub in the local area. We have spent many an enjoyable afternoon / evening in The Harrow. The atmosphere is superb and the staff are great. Dave and Becky (Landlord & Landladyhave always done a cracking job at running this pub and it shows. Lovely food, great ales (look out for the beer festival), nice open fire. Great quiz nights too (especially the Christmas one), dog and child friendly. Well worth a visit.

Pub looks really amazing. However, food is not their strong side. I had bbq pulled pork burger with sweet potatoes. Food presentation was good but tastes was not impressive. Pulled pork felt old and hard. It was closer to beef jerk then pulled pork. Rubbed in large quantities of bbq sauce. Sweet potatoes where nice. Definitely would not order another helping.
