The Harrods Tea Room - Restaurant in O'Fallon, United States
ambience: perfect/exceptionalThe most comfortable seating with tables arranged the farthest apart from one another, compared to all higher end afternoon tea in London we had had. The very good pianist also took the experience to the next level.service: very goodThe team really took it seriously what guests were allergic to or simply disliked. One of them was patient enough to point out the Cucumber Minted Goats Curd sandwich was not for goat cheese haters in his opinion and offered to bring us some vegan options instead.sandwich: goodWe had had a lot better and expected better.scones: perfect/exceptionalWarmed just right. One of, if not the softest scones we had had. Raspberry jam and strawberry jam were good.patisseries: surprisingly disappointingWe were always fans of those sold in Harrods Food Hall and nothing ever failed, so not sure what went wrong with this festive menu.tea: goodNot bad, but expected better, with a larger variety of herbal tea.
Exceptional service throughout, great atmosphere, staff look after you from start to finish and explain all what is on offer and all ingredients, so if you have dietary requirements they are there to help. If youre ever in London you have to experience Harrods to its fullest.
Ive always been a fan of High Tea, and Harrods is as good as it gets. Great selection of teas, generous servings of dainty sandwiches, scones, cakes and desserts, and friendly service. Maybe the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong does it a little better, but Harrods is in a much more convenient location.
We went on a Saturday afternoon and it quickly became busy but we had a nice time. The staff were attentive but not overbearing and even offered us extra sandwiches. The tea was lovely and it was a nice experience. The live pianist played a selection of classic and contemporary tunes.(Gift experience from a relative)
Scrumptious afternoon tea served by the wonderful Joel, pre booked the halal option but not sure what that meant as not given any meat...nonetheless, soft piano in the background, simple classical sandwiches with explosive flavours and soft & airy to the bite.Comfortable red velvet sofa for seating, cloakroom for any bags & coats, smiley staff and a wide range of specialty teas to choose from. The white peony tea is a favourite. The desserts were unique and stimulate your taste buds with each option.
Was bought a Buy a Gift Experience which was a Harrods Cream Tea. Service was exceptionally slow. Waited 30 minutes to get offered tea, came with no milk then waited 15 minutes for the milk to arrive (had to chase him up). By then my tea which was poured by the waited originally was cold. Didn’t get offered a fresh pot.2 scones then arrived which were average. One small pot of cream and 2 dishes of jam to share. We was there for 1.5 hours for tea & scones. Service was very slow. They then gave us a bill for the water and service charge!! Wasn’t happy to be charged service charge when it was a gift experience. I know I could of refused the service charge but didn’t want the embarrassment.Won’t recommend or go again
This was a great experience. The menu is very good but the atmosphere was the best. The piano player was excellent and played a variety of musical selections. The Harrods Tea Room is definitely a must-see when in London.
Let’s start with the good: we had a lovely waiter who explained everything thoroughly and had great suggestions for tea and sandwiches. The sweet cakes and scones were nice. You can order as much tea and refill of sandwiches as you want. The bad was that the finger sandwiches are not made fresh as they were dried out on the outside. They have been sitting out for at least an hour when they were served to us. You could also tell by the egg salad that was darkened and dried up.There is also no dress code at all; not even smart casual. Plenty of guests with dirty trainers and dressed like they are about to pop off to the grocery store. It does impact the otherwise fancy ambiance. Because of the strange layout and 2 sides of entrances, people come and go through the tea room which also disturbs the experience. Finally, the pianist was awful. He would regularly play false notes and seemed like he didn’t care that much to contribute to the ambience. It started to hurt our ears after a while. They add a 12,5% service surcharge to the bill which I found a bit presumptuous. For £62 per person and all of the flaws mentioned above we didn’t think a surcharge was appropriate.
We had such a lovely time. The staff were such lovely people and we actually got there at the perfect time where we got that last walk-in availability. 10 out of 10 would recommend
A decent option for high tea in a pleasant environment, yet fell a bit short of expectations considering the Harrods brand name.Reservations are a must due to its popularity as the small space gets filled up by early noon. Perhaps because of this, service is somewhat slow and inattentive, though courteous. The impression is that the wait staff are spread a bit thin.Sandwiches and savoury items can be much improved. Most did not impress. The bread for all the sandwiches were either stale or very lightly toasted then left to cool down for too long - either way they were all uniformly dry and unpleasant.Pastry items went a great way to redeem the disappointing sandwiches. Every item was well executed with texture, taste and contrast that make you crave for more. The scones are likewise perfectly baked and served warm.A decent range of teas is available of which youre allowed 3 different ones to accompany your meal. We enjoyed the Chinese teas like the Oolong, Jasime Pearl and Lapsang Suchong with their comforting fragrances. A selection of English teas and tisanes is also available.Unfinished pastries and scones can be packed to take away but the sandwiches are not due to food safety policy.
Bucket list item checked off! Harrods tea room was absolutely breathtaking.Live music from a fantastic a piano player, champagne and your choice of many teas. The sandwich collection included cucumber/cream cheese, spiced chicken, egg salad, and smoked salmon. We were offered a second plate of sandwiches for no charge as we just got off the Plane and hadn’t eaten in a while. The dessert were amazing, pumpkin cheesecake, almond cake, pecan pie and brownie garnished with gold leaf.Scones with clotted cream, strawberry and raspberry preserves were provided at the end of the meal.Well worth the 62£ price tag!
The food was excellent, but the service awful unfortunately. It took 25 minutes for any food to arrive, we had to ask for drink and food refills on the rare occasion our waiter walked past, generally the service was abrupt, and the bill was given to us when we were still eating (we were 20 minutes inside the two hour limit).
Restaurant is very accommodating for food restrictions. They had a menu ready for us based on the restrictions we put in our online reservation. Food was very well done as well. Great tea selection as well.
There is nothing special about Afternoon Tea at Harrods. The service was awful, the staff clearly not wanting to be there, having to wait 50 mins for the food to come out without any notice of a delay or an apology when the food eventually arrived. The food was average at best. The sandwiches were dry and bland. The scones crumbly that adding cream/jam too them was barely possible and the desserts were mainly chocolatey, extremely rich without variety! The area where Afternoon Tea is served is not exclusive to those dining, normal shoppers can wonder through the area at their leisure with plenty of stopping and starring at your food, being able to walk past sneezing & coughing in a very close proximity to where you are seated and children being able to run around like it is a playground. The whole experience was awful from start to finish. What was supposed to be a special birthday celebration, certainly didnt turn out that way.I have visited many Afternoon tea Venues from the very best in London to a local café and this experience is by far the worst experience. I would not recommend it it definitely was not worth the value of the booking. We would have been better going to a well known supermarket getting the items ourselves and staying at home.
A lovely cream tea.It was a gift so dont know the cost, but the scones were delicious & a beautiful setting.Toilets had an attendant working, but were rather shabby & in need of an overhaul
Enjoyed the pianist and dessert. £65 for afternoon tea was expensive with only a vegan and classic British afternoon tea. The service was good and attentive waiter.
Afternoon tea was so amazing! Service was excellent, the manager couldnt do enough for us..Thank you for making my birthday extra special
This was an absolutely wonderful experience. We came here for my birthday after buying a voucher through Virgin Experiences, and we weren’t disappointed. Firstly, the staff are extremely friendly and took the time to discuss my dietary requirements. They also had an absolutely fantastic selection of tea from around the world, which was unlimited. This includes various oolong teas, black teas, white teas and teas such as rose bud tea and peppermint tea. I tried a green tea and the peppermint tea which was absolutely delicious. Their own blend looked delicious too. The espressos were also very nice.In regards to the food, this was fantastic. When they bring the plates, they explain the order in which to eat them to have the best possible experience and the menu has recommendations on tea to have with each course. Each sandwich was absolutely delicious, and the cakes were to die for too. Once you’re done with this, they bring out warm scones with jam and cream which are amazing. I liked that they were able to fully accommodate my dairy free requirements here too by offering vegan versions of dairy products. They also presented me with a birthday card and a small birthday dessert which I really appreciated, and this was a lovely touch. They also didn’t make us feel rushed which was great, and helped us to relax. The only criticism I would have is that it would be good to have a seating area whilst you’re waiting for your table. For certain teas like peppermint, the strainers could be a bit a bit smaller to stop leaves getting through and into the cup.Apart from that though, this was a great experience and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. I would definitely come back here, as this was a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
We dined in April for our wedding anniversary and were left very disappointed. Weve dined in the Tearooms twice previously and, to be honest, the standard and value for ££ has dropped incredibly. The quality of food was poor - the sandwiches were icy cold and the bread was not fresh - we felt as though they couldve even been from the previous day. The tiny cakes were just average. We wont be returning or recommending to others as we felt that, for what we got, it was considerably overpriced and underwhelming. So disappointing as we loved Harrods but cant justify spending good money on a "less than average" experience 😕
Lovely food, good service, but not very private as area on a thoroughfare to the toilets! We had one glass of champagne each first, then a sorbet to cleanse our palette, then sandwiches (which were replenished oncethen our scones (bought out separately as warmthen our desserts. Tea was offered as we ate the sandwiches- you only get one pot each with some additional hot water. Pleasant vibe with a pianist, but ruined by being so public.
Locating the venue can be cumbersome depending on the entrance you take into the famous department store. However, the experience is elegant and relaxing. The staff are welcoming and attentive to your needs. The choice of teas is endless and made to perfection. The sandwiches are nice and well made with a good selection. The desserts are the highlight along with the scones. Your sandwiches are refillable at no extra cost and they can become a hearty meal. The room is beautiful and the piano player helps to create that calm atmosphere. Highly recommended for that special treat.
Went to tea last week with my adult daughter. We have been before and loved it. This time the services was horrible! No one ever came to our table. Had to flag down a waiter. We were offered one pot of tea, and never offered a hot beverage again. Repeatedly had to flag down the waiter, who was never apologetic. Food was good but for those exhorbitant prices you expect a lot morethan a tasty sandwich! When the bill came, the service had already been added in ( I would not have left a tip). Sadly, will not be returning.
Lovely afternoon cream tea. We were offered extra scones which was much appreciated. The service and food quality was first class. They just need to insist the punters adhere to the dress code.
A spectacular setting with exceptional food. One of the best vegan afternoon teas in London. The sandwiches were freshly made, the sweets were amazing for vegan and the scones are worth looking forward to. The service was perfect as our waiter was attentive, gave us soy and oat milk with our teas and had great conversation. The highlight was the live pianist who played a great selection of music. Highly recommend as a special treat with someone.
First time having afternoon tea at a posh place and glad it wasnt a disappointment.Firstly, great atmosphere. Seats are super comfortable and table are spaced out generously so people can feel more intimate with their group. Decor was homely and has a Gatsby feel.Secondly, service was exceptional and as expected from Harrods. Staff were attentive and conversational. Prompted to ask if we wanted more tea and top up on food.Last but not least, food was great! Especially the vegan option. I was surprised how good it was given I went to Ivy a few months ago and vegan option there was sad and disappointing with no innovation or thoughts to making it tasty. The sandwiches were delicious with fantastic variety - coronation cauliflower, chickpea, butternut squash & onions, aubergine and mushrooms. Moving onto the sweet treats, they had raspberry cheesecake, banoffee cake, chocolate moose cake and apple slice. All were very good, but fav had to be raspberry and banoffee.Last dish was the scones with raspberry jam, strawberry jam and diary free clotted cream. It was a very long time since Ive had scones and this being vegan was definitely not disappointing. Light, fluffy with a nice bite.Overall there wasnt anything I could fault. Unlimited teas, sandwiches, sweet treats and scones with great service. A bonus was the live performance pianist with some of my fav songs. Sad to see not many people reacted or applaud the pianist for his exceptional talent playing an hour nonstop.Definitely recommend if youre ever looking for a treat with your close ones.Price per head £65
One of the best afternoon teas I’ve been to as a vegan. They have a whole vegan menu!! My relatives actually preferred the vegan scones to the standard scones. A lovely treat and you can keep on asking for refills for food and hot drinks. Amazing service by Marco as well. Do book in advance. We did get a bit lost trying to find the tea room and be prepared to walk quite a bit to find them. Definitely worth the money as a lovely treat!
Love the vibes and the atmosphere… afternoon tea I didn’t like the eggplant and mushroom sandwich before they use to serve tuna and chicken sandwiches.. kindda disappointing… the variety of food became less. Scoons were good …. Service is too slow
Amazing. Only had cream tea reserved but upgraded to afternoon tea as we had a 5 hour drive home, once we had eaten. My dietary requirements are that of a fussy toddler and my sandwich selection was adapted without much issue, but certainly raise this in advance of your reservation as it would not be guarantees, Im sure. Atmosphere/decor/staff demeanour and attentiveness/cleanliness/pianist/ food/ tea, faultless. ❤
just don’t. Overpriced for some cold cuts and white bread. The deserts were 4/10 just for the praline, but otherwise, do your research and support a local small business with fresh bread and an aesthetic that doesn’t rely on a loud piano and well dressed staff.
Its always nice to enjoy and treat yourself to an afternoon tea. Good selection, second time over on a staycation over the weekend. We loved the first time more then our second trip hence the 3 star. Scones were nice and warm, sandwiches were just okay need some taste boost.
nice all day afternoon tea. like the atmosphere as well. the service could have been better though as i felt that there were too little service staff to handle all of us.
The teas were absolutely delicious, as were the sandwiches (choice of 4and desserts (choice of 4). The scones were served with clotted cream and raspberry and strawberry jams. The staff were amazing and on hand. Refills were offered but we were both struggling by the time the scones came!Everything was brilliant, from the service to the food as well as the ambiance. Also the pianist was phenomenal!
Superb high tea.- unlimited sandwich refills- excellent tea- very good scones- top notch service- live music- welcoming staffHigh tea coming currently (Jan 2022at £62 a head, plus wine and service. Expensive, certainly, but a genuinely luxurious option. Wide variety of people enjoying the treat there on the day we visited, and a talented pianist playing with popular, musical and film tunes in a very enjoyable way.
Literally dinning in luxury words cannot describe the experience other than going to experience the fine dinning.Scones fresh and hot, Sandwich and cakes selection Exquisitely DeliciousStaff very efficient, friendly and working well as one team.
Pleasant atmosphere, not too busy. Excellent service with attentive and friendly staff, especially Joel. Food is absolutely delicious with some amazing flavours. Definitely recommend it
Very nice afternoon tea at the tea room. Very small tea pots, but you can always get a refill of hot water. The only downside is that it’s in the middle of other shopping sections, so people keep walking by doing all their shopping, so you can’t fully relax and enjoy the experience. But the food and the cakes are delicious and worth it!
Very attentive service warm cosy and friendlyGood quality food along with refill if you needExcellent tea quantity with great choicesTerrific COVID measures in actionGreat social distancing between tablesThe sandwich is reasonable and somewhat sophisticatedThe sweets are not mega sweet under the British traditionThe scone is fabulous best in class highlight of the entire afternoon tea experience
I’ve never had such a disappointing dining experience. At 59£ per person, the quality of the food and service is absolutely abysmal. To start, it took ages to be seated because it was impossible to get ahold of any staff. Once we were finally seated, we were attended by two different waiters, neither of whom took the time to explain what anything was or answer questions. Judging from that and the thick accents of most of the staff working there, it seemed almost as if most of them did not actually understand or speak enough English to be able to serve efficiently. At one point one of them came out of the kitchen holding her personal cellphone! For a place that boasts sophistication in its ingredients, the sandwiches mostly consisted of mayonnaise and cream cheese. Supposedly the allure of a British afternoon tea experience is the ability to order more of everything but because it took so long for each course to arrive there simply wasn’t time in our reservation slot to take advantage of that.To make matters worse, on top of the ridiculous price tag that they slap on the food here, they have the audacity to also make you pay a 12.5% service charge. Absolutely shameful. Don’t waste your time and money by coming here.
Observations: Service was very very relaxed. Ushered to the table and chose the tea, afterwhich it arrived not too long after. The "Amuse bouche" came only after almost 30 minutes of being seated. (You need a lot of time to spare if you come, in my opinion). About 10 minutes later, the tray of goodies consisting of tiny sandwiches and even tinier desserts arrived. Now, that isnt a bad thing because one can always ask for seconds (and thirds). Sandwiches were delicious, even the simple cucumber and cream cheese one. All of the sandwiches had generous fillings! The menu has changed and theres no longer the lobster rolls so that was quite disappointing (thus 1 star off ☺)One thing a little different here is that scones are served last. The scones are quite a pleasure to eat. Perfect texture and didnt crumble to smithereens or "too doughy".Highly recommend to have the White Peony tea with the sweets and scones. Very palate cleansing, fresh and lightly perfumed.Final thoughts: Quite the once in a lifetime (and enjoyable experience. More for those who can afford it frequently. As of 24 Aug 2021, it costs £59 per adult and £33 per child (including a Harrods bear). Prices are before 12.5% service charge. All in all, I cannot fault this place, though there were some hiccups in the beginning.Do note if your appointment is at 12pm, you will only be let in at 12pm sharp.
This is an experience everyone should have at least one time while shopping at Harrods. The service here is impeccable. The full afternoon service is such a delight. The coronation chicken and the lobster roll on brioche will be a part of my dreams. Can you say delish?! Be sire to have a cocktail as well. I had the Golden Age which was light and refreshing. Perfect for a mild summer day.
The best experience possible! From start to finish there was excellence. The server, Ahmed, was super friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The setting was beautiful and peaceful, the food was exquisite and the tea was a delight. Would definitely recommend for the sheer luxury of this whole experience. We had such a great time that we didnt want to leave! Thank you!
I bought an afternoon tea for my partner via virgin and all I can say was it was worth every penny. Upon arrival, we spoke to a lady who confirmed our booking, seemed surprised when I asked her how she was.. Maybe we are a little nicer than some other customers! Ha! .. Taken to our table where exceptional service was continued by our server. Excellent recommendations and then the food came out! Wow... Absolutely the best afternoon tea we have ever had. Faultless. Finished with scones and a coffee, got to admit we were very full. At no point rushed and a genuine care from our waitress. She was great, we didnt have to lift a finger, unfortunately I cannot remember her name (short lady, mousy blonde hair and glassesalso a great chat with another who had come from a difficult time in Barcelona to a better life in the UK, absolutely loved this, just shows if you want to do well you can.. Hats off to both.. Honestly cannot fault anything, massive thanks to absolutely everyone, you are all fantastic. Cheers guys!
First time experiencing afternoon. We was informed the room had changed because of covid-19. The room was still really nice and spaced out .The quality of the food was absolutely excellent. From the signature cakes to the classy sandwiches. I would highly recommend experiencing afternoon tea at Harrods
Beautiful venue, amazing pianist. Really enjoyed this afternoon. Make sure you order the Georgian tea- it’s delicious. The sandwiches were a perfect mix, the mini cakes were all just as tasty as another! Loved the classic Harrods green inspired caramel cheesecake! When it came to scones at the end I was far too full, make sure you come hungry! Of course it’s Harrods so the customer service was wonderful. I must say I’ve had better scones in my time, and that the cream to go with them wasn’t the creamiest but were still really good.
Afternoon Tea was absolutely spectacular! The cream tea, champagne, and scones were both delightful and delicious. The atmosphere was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. Staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. Would highly recommend Afternoon Tea!
Absolutely fabulous afternoon tea! ☕️ 🧁 Beautiful restaurant and internal decor. Impeccable service. Friendly and very helpful staff. Large selection of tea and coffee. Lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes. Scones were delightful - served warm and fluffy from the middle. Offered complimentary extra tea, coffee, sandwiches, cakes and scones. Exceeded expectations. Highly recommend Afternoon Tea at Harrods Tea Rooms. 🤩
The tea room is lovely with Art Deco design. The prices are quite high but that’s to be expected. The food was very good, we had smoked salmon and pumpkin soup. The tea selection is excellent. Service was great and there was a pianist playing for lunch.
Treated my little sister to afternoon at Harrods today for her birthday. The service was fantastic, attentive without being over the top and intrusive. They made me a vegan afternoon tea which was delicious and luckily a lot lighter thank my sisters as she was totally stuffed when she left. Where she had two scones with clotted cream and jam, I had a delightful fresh fruit salad. As it was her birthday, they brought her some lovely little biscuits on a plate that had ‘Happy Birthday’ written on it in chocolate. Luckily they used vegan biscuits so we could both eat them - a lovely touch. They also presented her with a hand written birthday card which was her favourite thing, a very thoughtful and much appreciated gesture.
The Harrods Tea Rooms is located on the fourth floor of the store. We decided to order from the lunch menu and went for Fish and chips and Beef Tartare. To drink we had the Harrods Earl Grey tea.The food was superb. The service was impeccable at a very high standard. The decor is beautiful with an elegant environment. If you are shopping in Harrods you should definitely pay a visit to their Tea Rooms.
The service was exceptional. We were looked after well. It had a nice feel esp being at Harrods.. everything looked nice(clicked some pics attached)However, I still feel In terms of the afternoon tea itself.. it was just okay..not very impressed ..I really enjoyed my Hen do which was held at the Sofitel London in their rose lounge where the afternoon tea is unforgettable. Harp music with beautiful unlimited sandwiches, scones, champagne, cakes and we could pick whatever we wanted :)
