Staff were all so lovely. Food delicious. Restaurant very comfortable. Expensive, but a very special treat. (Although Set Lunch was not so expensive, but still of the same standard). Worth repeating that all the staff were fabulous.

This was a much anticipated meal and stay for our 10th wedding anniversary. We stayed in Braeburn in Apple House and the room and hot tub were really nice. Nice touches wishing us a happy anniversary. No complaints there although not sure it was that much better than other places that are cheaper... The dinner was really disappointing. Not sure what the Michelin stars are for. No flavour hits, completely bog standard side dishes of cabbage and mashed potato... I make better mashed potato at home. I had the smoked haddock omelette to start, it was nice but way too rich to eat all of it. Had the pork fillet for main, very lean but nothing to make me go wow. If you want all your food covered in butter instead of creating real flavours then this is the place for you. Have had much better meals for a fraction of the price at local gastropubs. My husband subsequently was up all night with a dodgy tummy and it didnt sit well with me either (we are in our 30s and neither of us have delicate stomachs! The staff were a strange bunch and some very arrogant. Breakfast was mediocre. Definitely wont return or recommend. Also totally useless if you want vegetarian, nothing suitable.

Cannot believe this is 2 Michelin star. Nice warm Pub atmosphere, bread was amazing, starters were lovely, fish main course was served with soft skin. Chocolate dessert was very disappointing. We forgot to order sides with main course and the waitress at no point prompted us which would have been nice. During courses at no point did we get any wine recommendations.

In short, this was the most expensive meal (£280weve had and was it the best? Nope, but it was on the whole nice.Me and my partner visited on a Wednesday evening and were greeted by the friendly staff. We were offered a drink, and then shown through to our seating area. The decor is nice, and it has a warm feel to it - basically a posh pub setting. The service: It was a bit slow to start, we only received our water and drinks just before our starter. However, after that point the staff were on it and I couldnt fault them - topping up our water, friendly and approachable. The food: On the whole it was very nice. Before our starter we had freshly baked sourdough with two types of butter along with a sausage roll which was lovely. To start I had the omelette (£31 which had lovely flavours and was a good size starter. My partner had the parfait (£31- the duck pate was super creamy and mousse consistency (which was a bit weird), the orange chutney was lovely and the toasted brioche might have been the best bread Ive had.For mains I had the chicken "pie" (£68which was beautifully constructed with each mouthful delivering a different flavour; I think for the price you should get a side. My partner had the fillet of beef (£85which she described as being nice but not as nice as Gauchos steak. I think they could offer more sides e.g. triple cooked chips, perhaps theyre on the menu at times during the year?I had the chocolate cake (£26for the dessert which the beer ice cream dominated - super strong, and was the wrong choice for me. The hot chocolate (£8), which is a dessert in itself, was very nice - consisting of white and dark chocolate buttons melted down. This is the first Michelin star establishment weve been to so we only have non Michelin star restaurants to compare it to. However, for two Michelin stars and the price, we were expecting to be blown away by the flavours. Dont get me wrong the food is of very good quality, presented well and has nice flavours, however the prices need to be brought down - we can get a fillet of beef to share in Gaucho (which is betterfor the same price as the fillet for one here.It was a pleasant experience though, and the staff couldnt be faulted (past our starter). It is obvious they are very provided with great training.

Great place to stay, lovely decor, extremely friendly and helpful staff, the food was great.. Our option was the stay with tapas dining at the Coach, then amazing breakfast and not long after a set lunch. Highly recommend

My wife and I visited on 12th March 2022 for my birthday. We were keen to return as we had been several times before when I lived in Marlow, all of which had been wonderful, memorable experiences of the highest standard. The food was excellent however I was very disappointed with the service. I appreciate the early lunch bookings have a limited time on the tables, but our meals were literally swiped away from us when the time was up, without any grace or class. The gentleman greeting us was exceptional when we first entered; however the staff in the main restaurant themselves appeared inexperienced, disengaged and uncaring. This is a delayed review as we were looking to book somewhere again but I have my reservations about returning. I completely understand that the pandemic has had a huge impact on hospitality, including training and recruitment of staff. However, the service provided was a complete and utter letdown and fell well below the standards I had come to expect from such an institution and it’s accolades, let alone the price paid. I hope this was a one off and Hand and Flowerscontinues to do well. It would be a great shame if standards fell.

Incredible food, incredible service and an all round incredible experience that I can’t recommend highly enough. It’s not often I get to eat at establishment such as this and it certainly did not disappoint. Everything was perfect. Make a booking and take yourself there you will not regret it. What a birthday treat!!

The meal was fantastic . We enjoyed every single course and the staff were fabulous. We had the tart and the parfait to start which we could not fault. We both had the steak as our main. The steak itself was incredible and just melted. Both of us could have done without the waffle. I would have rather have had chips (which were no longer on the menu). We then had the tart and chocolate cake for desert and both were delicious.Would highly recommend and 100% worth the cost.

Nice set up. Car park which is important as parking in Marlow can be challenging. Staff were extremely professional and friendly. My main course which was the pork dish was amazing. Desert wasnt so as the alcohol in it was a little overwhelming but thats just personal taste. Took my wife there for a birthday treat and we both had a great time.

This was our 3rd visit to the Hand & Flowers. But was our most disappointing. The main reason was the very limited menu. Only 4 starters and 4 mains to choose from. I understood when we visited after covid, but there was just not enough choice. Its easy to say check the menu before you book, but you have to book so far ahead to get a table this is not possible as the menu changes. But as ever the service was impeccable. Still a good experience.

I rarely post reviews but felt I had to say something about the excellent customer service we experienced at the Hand and Flowers in Marlow. From the moment we arrived to the overnight stay, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the bar to the amazing, delicious food & service in the restaurant. Nothing too much trouble & excellent attention to detail from every member of staff. I would particularly like to mention the manager in the restaurant last night who I believe is called Gavin. Unfortunately I felt a little unwell at the table but without any prompting from any of our party, Gavin suddenly appeared with a table top fan as hed "noticed" I was struggling a bit! He didnt make a fuss just quietly checked I was ok & then set the fan working & also asked if I would like some cold towels! Not only were we amazed by this level of customer service but I was also extremely grateful! Thank you to all staff and especially to Gavin - fantastic service & very much appreciated! We will be back & will 100% recommend the Hand and Flowers.

We came 18 months ago and had a wonderful time. Returned for a celebration and ended up disappointed overall. We stayed in a room - the room was great, clean, well set up, comfy. Check in process was fine, it would be nice to have an earlier check in, 15.30 seems quite late. For dinner, we enjoyed our starters, bread and the snack provided. Yes, prices steep - to be expected at this kind of restaurant. However, food should be absolutely perfect and nothing less. This was not the case with our mains.Fish of the day, the john dory was cooked well enough, though Im not sure why the soggy skin was left on. Tart was nice. However, all this was ruined by the lobster bisque which tasted overwhelmingly of aniseed. I normally like the flavour profile of aniseed, but in this case there was only one note of flavour, no lobster coming through, and it absolutely blasted through the rest of the plate and made it nearly inedible. Not sure what went wrong when making the sauce today but it was pretty vile. The "sweet" lemon was also very bitter and didnt help the situation. My husband had the beef, which was generally better, but the waffle was saturated in grease, completely over-fried and also inedible.Wed barely started our mains when we were first asked for feedback and didnt say anything at that point, but did give this feedback to the waitress at the end (the table next to me also whispered the same thing to each other about the aniseed bisque and left half of it, I felt terrible leaving other diners to our same fate! Our waitress didnt really know what to do and just walked off awkwardly shrugging her shoulders and no follow up. A shame as rest of staff and service had been good.We expected end-of-night hampers as we had with our last stay, but apparently these have been stopped due to lack of staff. I work in the industry and understand the challenges around today. However, its a shame when pricing has only gone up and up (nearly £800 spent altogether), but experience has very much gone down. I dont think well come back.

Im so sorry to say that I didnt think the food was great. We really wanted to like it and after driving 1.5hrs we just didnt enjoy the food. The Sunday lunch options arent great and very limited, and the food just doesnt taste great to be honest. I was shocked to find out that it has 2 Michelin stars. The staff are friendly but especially given the price youre paying, the taste of the food is I would say below average. The pork doesnt have much taste and the just overall the dish lacks flavour. To give you an idea the most tasty thing on the plate was the celery. The roast beef tastes OK but the potatoes were massive so the middle was hard and the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. Its just not very balanced.Hopefully they can change up the menu an improve things in the future.2 of the cocktails of the 3 we had werent good. One too sweet, one tasted odd.

Very good, but felt with 2 Michelin stars and high prices did not meet my expectations. Nice relaxed vibe although music weird. Wife found it too dark. Some tables were under a spotlight may have found it too bright. Staff welcoming and not pretentious and knew a lot about the food. Food was lovely but not as fantastic as I was expecting considering the cost. The sweet lemon purée was not my ideal companion with the snapper, lobster bisque and lobster tart and the tart itself lacked the wow factor for me. Nice that you could have a beer or cocktail or anything else you fancied with your meal and the staff were happy with whatever. Wine pretty expensive. Great to visit and try but if in the area again will not be rushing back.

Tom Kerridge’s two Michelin Star Hand and Flowers. We booked a suite in one of Tom’s converted cottages in Marlow. We checked in at the pub which was very simple, the host asked us to leave our car at the pub as they have chauffeur driven cars who would take us to our room. She came with us and showed us around. The room we had was lovely it also had its own private yard and hot tub. Drinks were not a problem as the phone in the room connected with the pub and they would send us drinks or snacks with the chauffeur. We arranged for the driver to collect us when it was time for dinner. We had a nice table at the window, the food was stunning, the service was very friendly warm and welcoming, we even asked if we could do a kitchen invasion.100% in my top 10, I’m looking forward to my next visit.

I have visited the restaurant a couple of times. I have always had a very good meal. It is shockingly expensive but equally a highly rated restaurant. For me a restaurant for special occasions and very infrequent due to price. However the service is good, food excellent and nice and spacious. Recommended but check the prices first.

Absolutely delicious food. Was not disappointed at all. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The duck parfait was so smooth and full of flavour. The lamb was my favourite, probably the best lamb Ive ever had in my life. It cut like butter & came with the best pesto sauce Ive even tasted. Everything was absolutely perfect & delicious, if I could eat here everyday I would :My sister was also just as pleased and impressed with her vegetarian options!

Incredible experience. Service you would expect from the two Michelin stars, but without any pretentiousness. Visited on a Sunday and the menu was fantastic. Every little detail adds up into a real treat of an experience. No half portions either! We enjoyed the amuse bouche (the nicest sausage roll Im likely to ever have!), breads and amazing butters, starters and mains, but were all stuffed we couldnt manage a dessert! A real treat

Negatives -We were seated at the bar for our evening meal. We booked this trip a year in advance and then postponed it two years due to covid, I feel that if you have a room, you should be guaranteed a table to dine at. It felt very awkward dining at the bar and we noticed Tom himself had spotted us there and seem to be peering over, perhaps unimpressed, that we were there.I personally did not enjoy the lamb, however my partner ate it and said it was lovely. So perhaps it was just me! The staff did ask me for feedback. It is pricey - but you get what you pay for.I think it would of been a nice gesture to offer some compensation for having to sit at the bar and for myself disliking the £69 meal I ordered.Overall wonderful experience, the staff are amazing and the attention to detail is second to none. The room was beautiful and filled with yummy treats, the white chocolate ones were our favourite! The staff are so attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The hot tub was a lovely set up and felt very private. It was clean and just felt like everything had been thought of.

We were fortunate to get a reservation a few days before Christmas.Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, as expected from a two Michelin starred establishment. Unfortunately, from that point onward it started to go down hill. While the staff and service was faultless, the food wasn’t spectacular and didn’t justify the price. We have dined at other Michelin starred places from one to three stars, and we are not averse to spending on good food. However The Hand and Flowers didn’t quite live up to the expectations their menu pricing sets. The food lacked flavour profile and was overly salty. The main lamb dish in particular contained hardly any lamb, surprising as it was a main, and was bulked out by sweetbreads. If we’re completely honest if it wasn’t for the price, the food could easily have been a run of the mill pub grub. It didn’t excel at anything.Feels like Tom Kerridge (who we had a fleeting glimpse ofhas taken his eye off a little and perhaps needs to jump back in to steer things back on course.

Every dish served there conveys two messages. Firstly, flavours obviously matter and secondly, one devours dishes with all senses (and cutlery). One point I would improve though is the way small beer is served to accompany the chocolate desert. Strong, dark beer served in a steel mini beer mug is not a good idea in my opinion. What hits you first when sipping it is not a smell and taste of beer with notes of chocolate, but the smell and taste of metal.

The food was truly outstanding. So much flavour, beautiful details and little flavour surprises. The presentation was meticulous yet super appetising.Service was very friendly, the only downside was we had difficulty getting online to view the menu which is intended to be viewed on your own device. One of the staff kindly brought over an iPad after a short while which was much appreciated. This was my second visit to the Hand and Flowers, and I would recommend it to anyone, its certainly not cheap, but is an experience not to be missed.

Our first visit to The Hand and Flowers in 2013 when they had only one Michelin star was amazing, 5/5. This second visit, 8 years later when they’re now a two Michelin star establishment, was ‘meh’, which is why I fail to rate any higher than 3 out of 5 (husband would give it closer to 4 out of 5, though - Id be happy to settle at 3.5 but thats not an option).Prices have roughly doubled in that time but the food experience is not as good. For 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert and a jug of sparkling water we paid £257.The chips looked beautiful, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside but the flavour was not there AT ALL. With chips, it’s always comes down to the quality of the potatoes so I would look into that; it’s better to have non-consistent looking chips that taste great than beautiful chips that I frankly wouldn’t even eat with ketchup, I just left them uneaten. Chips was one of the things I loved most in 2013 so I know they can do better. The lamb bun (their signature dishis very tasty but WITHOUT the sauce it comes with. I found the sauce very bitter and wished I hadn’t poured it on before tasting it. Lesson learnt, fortunately I’d only poured it on half of the lamb so I was able to enjoy the other half. The crème brulee (sans toppingwas the best part of the meal for me, super divine but the topping, which ought to be thin and brittle, was thick and hard, I had to hold my spoon like a hammer to overcome the resistance! Finally, the terrine was average. The best terrine I’ve ever had was at Canteen in Canary Wharf over 7 years ago and this was no match, yet it cost at least 3 times as much. The entrée sausage roll was tasty. Bread and butter was sublime, I would buy that butter at the supermarket. The £87 Sirloin beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender (albeit overpriced). They did try to push their overpriced alcohol but I was honest and said “it’s too expensive” so they didn’t ask again, thank goodness. The ambience remains positive, the staff are pleasant but given this was such poor value for money, I wouldn’t recommend it – the place is now riding high on the celebrity power of Tom Kerridge and not the quality of its food.WHAT MY HUSBAND THOUGHT:This restaurant feels like hallowed ground. I fully expected Tom Kerridge to come from the kitchen and do a walkabout. It did feel like a privilege to be there given the long waiting time for a reservation. However I still had to inhale deeply when I saw the prices next to the drinks and food on the menu. The choice of food on the menu was varied and there were several dishes that I had to wrestle between. For the starter I chose a salmon pancake which was nothing like I imagined when it was brought out. There were several varieties of caviar and although the dish looked small the salmon (which looked almost rawwas very filling when combined with the rest of the dish.I really wanted to sample the beef, so ordered that and it was cooked rare to medium as standard which was fine by me. Again the size of the portion was really generous and after the starter and main course I was stuffed and didn’t need to eat again until late evening. The flavour in the meat was very strong and when combined with the fat the effect was mouth-watering. The dishes were well presented and the atmosphere was cozy.#MichelinMemories #michelinstar #mystorywithmichelin #foodies #finedining #MICHELINrestaurants #restaurants #gastronomy #foodies #foodiegram #instafood @michelinguide #handandflowers #thehandandflowers @handfmarlow

Really lovely relaxed atmosphere and service, with delicious food and drink. We went for a main, side and dessert, all of which were divine, and it was definitely more than enough without a starter.Drinks wise we went for a cocktail each to start and then had some wine, all of which were great. It is pricey, so expect to pay £20 per cocktail and at least £50 for a bottle of wine. Very special place, would definitely recommend a visit!

After booking 12 months in advance we were excited for our first experience here. Warmly greeted and pre-drinks in the bar. Dinning room, cosy but dark. It was Sunday, the menu was limited, albeit a nice selection. The prices were completely obscene! £9 for 3 potatoes! The food was delicious & sadly my 3 star review is mostly down to the astronomical prices. Our lunch cost £360 (2 starters/mains/1 desert£50 bottle of wine (which was the cheapestand 1 cocktail/1 beer. This was a treat, however we can afford it and we are avid foodies but dont feel the food justified the pricing.

Have always loved the food here since we first popped in 13 years ago (without booking and 2 babies in tow), when we were looking for a house in Marlow. It’s now a firm favourite and clearly we’re proud at how far H&F have come in it’s 15 years… the team are ALL incredible and work hard to create food that will make you cry it’s so good… I can’t pinpoint any one dish as they’re all amazing… obviously very deserving of their Michelin stars :)

Had lunch here on my Birthday this year. This is our second time at Tom Kerridge’s original restaurant / gastro pub. From the appetiser to the dessert the meal was packed with flavour. The starter I thought was a real show stopper. It was funny that on our arrival the marquee in the front car park was being packed down and removed, significant because I suppose it marked the end of COVID restrictions the day before.

Awesome meal. As good as I hoped! The lamb "bun" was tender (melted in my mouth! Could have eaten with a spoonand the fish was flavourful. Cocktails were excellent... If youre a bourbon fan, you must try the duck fat old fashioned. Wine pairings they suggested were perfect. All around fabulous meal.

All the meals we’ve had at this top end, two Michie, gastropub have been very good over the years, with a relaxed but smart atmosphere and lovely rustic setting. They’ve recently converted the front area of the restaurant from a bar (usually for a pre drinkto more restaurant space, but apparently may be converted back to a bar depending on reopening rules. Would definitely recommend a pre drink in front of the fire first. Onto the main event; The haddock omelette is a firm favourite and a fantastic starter (especially in winteras is the beef dripping toast. Our latest trip was a Sunday lunch where the pork belly dish was perhaps one of the best pork belly dishes I’ve had with every element being on point. Chocolate ale cake is their signature which is also definitely worth going for. You’re not going to leave hungry for sure and just beware most dishes are pretty rich and hearty - but what else would you expect/want! My only caveat overall is that it is hard to justify the price per head (where prices have gone up recently), with mains over £50 each and starters c.£25 each, meaning a 2-course meal for two people with a couple of non alcoholic cocktails came to £240 total, and so with some wine and three courses you could be up to £350-400 easily. There’s a lot of great restaurants in London where you can find stunning food for a fraction of this price, so whilst the food is no doubt tasty at hand and flowers, and service always friendly and welcoming, it’s hard to say it’s really worth the premium price tag. Nevertheless I’m sure we’ll be returning as it is still the best at what it does! 17/20

What a place! Amazing! Absolutely love the little cottage feel about the place, gorgeous building! Interior doesnt disappoint with wooden beams and an old fashion feel about the place! Felt very warm and welcoming! The menu was in an envelope sealed with wax.. Wonderful little touch! Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable staff who chatted to us and made us welcome! And the food..... Perfect 👌🏽! Between the 6 of us we had lamb, pork and beef and not one complaint or moan about the food.... Full of flavour, not too big and not too small portion sizes and wonderful presentation (as one would expect for a 2 Michelin star place by Tom!).Absolutely wonderful day out and great place and food!!

Wow...i had high hopes for the meal and they smashed it. Was a belated post lockdown birthday present and it was well worth it. The food was sensational & the service relaxed and engaged. I cant recommend the H&F highly enough
