Buzzy restaurant chain preparing an eclectic international menu including wood-fired pizza.
Ordered on door dash. Groove train sent us the wrong order we then asked for the order to be re delivered so waited more than 2 hours for our order only to receive to soggy food and top it off we ordered vegetables for $8 and what we received was half a container of what looked like leftover scraps! It was disgusting! 1 piece of broccoli and carrot and the rest was scraps of onion, worst service and will not be returning. If I could give it less than 1 star I would absolute rip off.
Needs a facelift. However the gent who served us was fantastic. He was on his own during the breakfast trade and was always smiling and friendly. Food was good and generous serving.
Terrible service, I had to ask for napkins, I got my own water, and had to ask for forks and plates. There was only one other table being served so you can say they were under staffed. My Coffee had off milk in it. They made me another one which looked better but didnt taste that great. Needless to say we wont be returning.
Waited 45 minutes for food to arrive even when the people who ordered after us got their food first, my girlfriend then noticed there was still a food stain on her fork which was disgusting and asked for a new one, once food arrived our Parma and Burger were a little burnt with obvious cheese crisps on the side/bottom.
The only reason I give 2 stars, is because the the place is decent to look at and has a decent bar. That is where the positives end. The food is bad. No other adjective. The menu is quite big, but I am quite certain that they can competently only a select few items on the menu. I made the mistake of ordering fish and chips and nasi Goreng. The fish was ok, but the batter it was fried in was not seasoned. The nasi Goreng, had 3 chillies against it, and what I got was sweet, with a generous sprinkle of sesame seeds. So, check for rice and cross for everything else.I do not recommend this place.
Ive been looking at this place in frankston for a while so I finally came in for the first time. It was quick service, pretty surroundings and food was lovely. I was going to take a picture of the food but I ate it all so quickly and forgot. I had the fish and chips and butter chicken yummmmy2nd time here and its even more yummy
I actually can’t work out how this restaurant is still open, so many bad reviews!The last time I came to this restaurant the food wasn’t great, it’s still not great. Ordered a kabab and chips for $26, the chips were over cooked and the kabab.. you can get a better one from the fish and chip shop for half the price. We were told by the waitress that the kebabs were popular.. please tell me how? The 2 stars are for my okay tasting espresso martini and the waitress’s were very friendly. Wouldn’t go back or recommend to anyone!
am not usually the one to complain and leave bad reviews, however, My friend and I dined in at Groove Train on 04/01/21 and was extremely disappointed in the service and the food that we had received. To begin with, we were seated at a table that was sticky to the point it was difficult to try and flip the menus to the other side to see what else the restaurant had to offer. We ordered with no issues, however, there was an approximately 20-30 minute wait on our food. We had only ordered a pizza and a spaghetti in which the restaurant was fairly empty presuming the wait time wouldnt be as long as it had been.My friend politely asked a waitress if she could just check on our food and how long away it would be. In response, we got a muttered okay in which she just spoke to her colleague in the bar for some time before eventually disappearing into the kitchen. The food came out not long after from the same waitress who almost slammed our plates on the table and the cutlery put carelessly on the table. The service that we received from this waitress was shocking, to say the least.Unlike my friend who tolerated the meal she was given, I, unfortunately, cannot say I had the same experience. I had ordered the Spaghetti Bolaganse (as picturedand was horrified to see what was at the bottom of my plate. It appeared to be flooded in oil which had genuinely separated from the sauce itself, it tasted oily and fatty and I could not eat it. I had eaten a few bites before it had started to make me feel ill. It was inedible quite frankly.My friend and I then proceeded to pay for our meals before our departure in split payments. My friend had a card transaction in which according to the waitress we had, had accidentally cancelled on her end and therefore the transaction did not proceed. My friend checked her account to see that the transaction was actually processed and they tried to recharge her a second time. They become frustrated and my friend had to show her bank transaction multiple times before they said it was fine. I told them that I would not like to pay for my food because I was unhappy with what I had received in which I was cut off by another worker to write down my complaint on a piece of paper to his manager to explain why he was giving me a discount on my order. I still had to pay for my drink and was offered no apology at the least from the restaurant. In the end, we were practically told to go.The customer service received that night was appalling, did not feel welcome and looked after and we will definitely not be returning.
Service & communication have seriously dropped recently. Zero atmosphere. One good server on staff cant make up for the overall rubbish experience by herself.**Edit** tried it again after more than a year away...it got worse. Wont be back.
For the price you would expect food that was at least edible, I didnt have massive expectations for The Groove Train but this was borderline one of the worst "restaurant" meals I have ever had.The fish was massive, bearly cooked, bland and tasted like the chemicals used in their freezer. The pizza was worse than the pizza from pizza hut and 3 times the price. The milkshake was odly warm. The side salad was drowned in vinegar.Definitely wont be coming back.
Ordered smashed avo and poached egg, in the menu with sunflower seeds and feta and sourdough.... was on toast but not sourdough.... no feta... no sunflower seeds... and poached egg was hard!! When mentioning it was lacking it was met with blank stare from waitress!! Not going back anytime soon! Had the same meal at the groove train in Cranbourne and it was fantastic!
$65 for 2 hairs in my pizza.. Nasty. I did refuse a refund on my pubic hair pizza because I understand every $$$ count.. But I will never spend another cent there. Avoid at all costs.
I had dinner on the 8/11/20 (Frankston groove train), i had booked for a 7pm table for 2. It took 10 minutes for us to be seated and there were spare employees including 2 on looking at a computer at the back (as the greetning was not superb and did not seem very happy). We did not get surved or asked for drinks for 20 minutes and i had to go inside to order and ask for water for the table. We then got a food which was warm not hot.... and again i had to go inside and go ask for water for the table as well as cutlery and spare plates so we could share the food. The food overall was also tasted cheep for the expensive price of 26$ for a pizza which we bought. Overall i think the service needs to be improved and the customer service. I will not be going back
Our first visit to Frankston groove train on Sunday ... we were sooo looking forward to a good meal after Lock down... we did not have a good experience ..The fish I ordered was soggy and drenched in oil ...the steak was overdone and dry..The chicken and avocado focaccia came without the avo ..The person in charge advised us that we could not use entertainment voucher .. ( which was understandable during this time)I still was kind enough to leave a tip .. however the person in charge did not even care to say thank you or ask us how our meal was 😏..I understand that the hospitality has really had a difficult time however it’s their time to shine now and do their very best to keep the customers coming back .. . disappointed
It’s was good the steak was a bit Hard to cut and the sauce was nice but I would give the steak a 7/10and nice atmosphere #mealforameal 28/6/20
The food is average. Overpriced. But the worst thing was having to wait more than 45min for my food when the restaurant was not busy. The food was nothing complicated and greet they took that long. Not sure if Im coming back....
The service is amazing. Unfortunately our food was a bit oily, not sure if it was drained properly. Other then that the serving size was amazing and so was their drinks. Would try again.
I showed up with 30 minutes notice that we had a table of around 17 coming in for a kids party, after we realised eating at the bowling place wasnt going to be an option. The staff did a fantastic job accommodating and taking care of our table. The 2 meter long pizza was incredible and really helped with making the meal choice easy for a bunch of 6 year olds.I was also very impressed with the options available for gluten free AND dairy free meals. The girls really went out of their way to help us.Just want to say thank you again.
Non existent atmosphere.Staff wandered around like they had all day to do nothing.Couldn’t get two coffees out together, despite less than 10 people in the restaurant.Food was average, to say the least.Highlight was the toilets closed for cleaning & the disabled toilet with the non locking door, which looked like it had never been cleaned.Can only imagine what the other toilets were like.Don’t bother. Many other options in the area.Can see why no one goes there.
Best service. Had my sisters wedding anniversary dinner there with my parents, partner, sister and brother in law and daughter. The service was amazing, food was amazing and the staff were absolutely lovely. 10/10
Horrible. Ordered before the table next to us the food came to them 10 minutes later but we didnt receive ours. More customers arrived, were seated, ordered. Were still waiting; 50 minutes later. I asked them to check on our order, they said they would but they never came back to me. I went to the counter and asked to pay for my coffee and 2xmilkshakes and informed the lady that my order was not put through, she responded by saying "Ill get them to cook it now". When I rejected, pointing put that we were waiting almost an hour, she informed me that they were busy. I informed her about other tables being served she responded, "Im not going to argue you; you just want to pay for coffee and milkshakes?" I said I should be getting them for free she responded, "Ill give you the whole meal for free." WHY. Just do your job. Put the order through and not have me sitting with very very hungry 10 year old twins to then have to go to the Coffee Club to order, be seated and served in less than 15 minutes. Seriously.
A bit dingy Inside, table for 4, we ordered 2 Parmas, a Seafood Red Curry and a Burger..Seafood Curry was delicious and a good serve, with rice. Parmas, both teens said that the runny sauce on top was jar style, which it did look like..Burger was good..The American waitress was very friendly and professional. Would go back for the Red Curry..The greeter needs some training on dress
The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic and the restaurant is very clean and inviting. The lamb pizza and nachos that we ordered was extremely yummy and cooked perfectly
Oh yes. Everytjing u want in a local cafe....or be happy to drive to go to. Coffee is outstanding!!!!! And the brekkie burger top knotch.You should be very happy with your efforts, produce/coffee providers and hiring of staff.Fan-Friken-Tastic
Disappointed for the price of the food. Calamari starter was nice. The main meals werent to good. They were luke warm, sloppy and got charged $3 for sloppy gravy that looked like left over juice from cooked meat? The waitresses were nice but vague. We wont be coming back as its over priced and the food is poor.
The food is really nice there and the staff are really nice and friendly, but most of the food is expensive and a rip off and you have to wait 40 to 50 minutes for your meal which is also annoying
Ordered and waited 45mins for our food!Took 30 mins for someone to even ask us if we got our food even when our table was empty and had no plates on it. Of course we didnt get our food lol.Staff blamed it on the kitchen not receiving the order when everyone elses was going through.Food come out hot but not the greatest (rushedbruchetta was soggy and eggplant chips where dry. Aranchini were dry and had weird super dry pumpkin bits inside.Not coming back when all we got was 1 free drink!!! Guess its what you expect for Frankston lol.
I dont usually leave bad reviews but we had my daughters 18th booked for 19 people and when we showed up they had allowed for 18..... not a major drama, easy fix but it was almost an hr before everyone at the table had their 1st drinks and they wouldnt even let us just go up to the bar and order our own. They had a small bar upstairs where we were seated, but they refused to open it up so we were stuck waiting. The food took about an hr after we ordered, which in comparison to the drinks wait time, was pretty good and it was okay. Nothing exceptional but not disgusting either, some of the meals were a bit coolish, and the satay chicken was definitely not a satay but otherwise it was okay. It was just the overall slowness of the service, and they had no toilet paper in the toilets..... What sort of restaurant runs out of toilet paper.
Very average Woodfire pizza. Still long way to match orginal Italian pizza.
Excellent food, friendly staff, loved the Fishermans Basket. Only reason for four stars is the surcharge for swapping chips&salad for veggies.
I eat here often, always such a great atmosphere and the staff a fast and efficient.Meals are always large & reasonably priced. Best days are thurs & fri for $10 cocktails night, comfy booths to sit with friends and the dull lights just set the mood.Haven’t had a bad meal here yet, coffee is always hot and creamy & the bartenders make fabulous drinks.. would recommend for groups as the always have a free function room upstairs 😁😁
Ordered a banana milkshake and pancakes. Both tasted amazing. Cost 25$ but was worth it. Staff were prompt and friendly. Thankyou !!
Food was quite nice, very good service. We explained we were heading off to the pictures and didnt have a lot of time, 30 minutes and eight people were finishing up their meals. Great effort.
Said open late Saturday. Staff messed up drinks order. Were more interested in closing. Bill placed on table while people still eating.Its not like its some cheap place where its expected youd be in and out quickly.Food OK. Expect better service!!
I have been coming to groove train for 10years.Never ordering gnocchi again was chewy and doughy. When I complained to the British waitress she said that gnocchi is usually doughy.There is a big difference between pillowy and doughy. I wasn’t happy with the waitress response as she was defending the plate of food in front of me and didn’t even try it bad customer service and definetly the waitress needs to be trained to be better and the chef needs to learn to be better at cooking gnocchi.

Its a little overpriced for what it is, but the food tastes good and the staff I interacted with were friendly. Its also nice that there is a range of seating options available - not just dining chairs and tables but booths and padded chairs for more comfortable dining
loved it. had the fried chicken burger. soo worth it! my 3 year okd had fish and chips. was bigger than expected and she finished it. shes also a fussy eater so i was glad that she liked it. only thing was that we ordered coffees and by the time they came they were luke warm. otherwise overall it was a good experience. definitely worth going back again for that burger alone.

Nice looking place with friendly Staff and good cocktails. The vinyl on booth seats could do with replacement-is all ripped and cracked.Husband had Mixed Grill which he said was nice. Daughter and I had Southern Fried Chicken Burgers which were average. Chicken was dripping with oil that tasted as though it desperately needed changing.
Disappointed with lamb salad.Gluten free option had a very over dressed salad on TOP of pita bread.When commented to wait staff, was given a side plate to put the bread on.Was not offered replacement not given discount on meal I could not eat.Restaurant looked run down. Chairs in booths were torn and worn.
Some of the staff here were very helpful and willing to do what it takes to make us comfortable, however, there was a certain person who I felt made our first time experience there harrowing. My food was not cooked properly. To the beautiful waitress who tried her best, Thank you, but I didnt enjoy the experience.
We’re there for a total of 2 and a half hours, the staff were extremely rude slamming the food down on the table not saying what it was and just walking away. The drinks took half an hour to come out and then the food a further 45 minutes. The milkshake tasted as if it had been left out and was warm. The stir fry noodles were slimy and couldn’t even be eaten. Overall the food was shockingly disgusting and overpriced not to mention the service was rude. Never eating here again wouldn’t recommend to anyone
Where shall I start off.... first of all the prices are shocking! They mustnt get many costumers so they put their prices up to keep out of debt. I cant imagine why though🙄 Miss fat ass waitress treating you like a baby. Honestly if we order a mocktails dont give us a snobby look! It doesnt have any alcohol and you probs need the money anyway. Also when your talking to people try to actually open your mouth so we can actually hear you! At least the food was average... though Id like a little less sauce. It looked like someone died!!!! Overall never going there again
From the moment i arrived i had very weird vibes coming my way from 2 waiters who were constantly staring, ,making me and my partner quite uncomfortable.I had ordered the meat platter and my partner the seafood calzone, We werent waiting long before our food arrived which was a little suspicious.The meat platter was not worth the money in terms of quantity and quality, i did enjoy the rosemary lamb tho.The seafood calzone was quite sickening to say the least, it had cold water leaking out the side of half frozen scallops and stale pastry, It was very much a disaster.All of this whilst being stared at uncomfortably by the staff made the whole experience one of the worst i have had in my food critiquing career.If i could rate 0 stars i would.I would not recommend to anybody.
We chose the groove train as it always looked busy.When I went to order the guy on the register tried to charge me about $25 more than the menu price. He apologised corrected it and charged me about $8 more than the menu. I didnt realise till I checked when I got home.The meals came fairly quickly they were a good size but very poor quality. My Thai salad was dry, poorly dressed and had a heap of cabbage in it. My dads meal was equally poor.I wont go here again.
Amazing service from the time we walked in until the time we left. Waiters asked us half way through if everything was okay and if they could get us anything. Food was great too! Will definitely be back :)
Coffees were cold, food was average and they forgot my sons order completely. Two stars given as the Italian Sausage was good. Service was a shocker on the day and their barista ended up taking control and charged us accordingly.
Enjoyed this location. Pizza and pastas are always good. Tried the calamari main which was delicious also. It couldve done with a bit more dipping sauce but Im sure they wouldve provided extra if we asked. Very enjoyable lunch.
