82 Kew Green, Richmond TW9 3AP, Victoria
Modern pub overlooking Kew Gardens, serving brunches, sandwiches, Sunday roasts plus garden area.
Super rude staff. Called for suggestions with parking after circling the area and driving up and down the surrounding streets for over an hour. A male staff member, who told us his name was Richard, hung up on us. No response to our email request to update our booking. If they charge us the £20 cancellation fee I will be disputing with my credit card!
They have the audacity to call this a pie. It looked and tasted more like a starter. (Dont even get me staterted on the price. The cost of living is hitting us all and when I go out to eat I expect value. The drinks were poured generously and the only reason Im giving 2 stars instead of 1. Slow service and it took 45 mins to bring the food to the table
Wonderful friendly pub. Staff really nice. Great food and drinks. Excellent for a private party. We had a birthday party here upstairs and the staff could not have been more helpful and lovely. Thank you Richard and all at The Greyhound.
Efficient service but the vegan roast was stodgy and disappointing with tasteless boiled vegetables (advertised as roastedand a completely flat and greasy Yorkshire pudding like a flat burger bun. The menu advertised all the trimmings but we were missing several. I didnt feel too good after eating our lunch which was a shame as the ambiance was lovely. Definitely not worth what we paid.
Tried the wagyu beef burger. Felt dodgy for £17 but was surprised how good it was! 10/10
A quick visit so did not eat at The Greyhound. Had a pint of cider which was very nice. Pub was clean, staff welcoming and a good selection of drinks. Would definitely return if in the area again and try the food .
The food was small portion and overpriced, stale burger bun and bread ,staff made excuses will not go back. This used to be a great gasrto pub ,
We have walked in last sat night with my boy friend for dinner. As i have reached early as boy friend is running late and my mobile battery bas last minute to die and i one male staff came to and asked for oder i have informed that by moblie was dead can you charge they have informed that no charge is there can you please order.I was worried that my mobile was dead and i couldnt call my boy friend still didnt arrived. I was waiting and again staff came to me her name is Vaihnavi she asked me to placed the order i have informed her regarding my mobile was dead she immediately went and checked for me and took my mobile and informed in the bar and charged my mobile. Really i took breath that time i really thank great staff hight appreciated . I was travelling long without my mobile in the night i could face very difficulty. Food was very good. Great staff we need service from her next time.
Good food but very poor gluten free options. My wife has a wheat allergy which affects her swallowing. She had only one option of small salad
We booked a table when we arrived at the door we were not greeted for 10 mins, bearing in mind we had a 5 and a 6 year old with us. I had to ask to be seated another 10mins pass I have to approch the bar and ask for menus and drinks as it was a boiling hot day. The seating was not suitable for little children. We asked to be moved which was great. We had to find someone to take our order, staff didnt know products on menu which clearly states ALL trimmings available with individual roasts which wasnt the case, wasnt child friendly and there were flies everywhere landing on people and on the food, bearing in mind this was inside the restaurant. Extremely disappointing dining experience as most of the time you are swotting flies away.
I visited The Greyhound with a friend on the 20th June. We went in for a drink but ended up staying there all evening and having a meal too. I cannot commend the staff highly enough, both behind the bar, serving food and being generally helpful and very pleasant. They added considerably to our enjoyment of a great night out. I am very sorry that I lost the scrap of paper on which I wrote their individual names, so please management, look the shift up and commend them for me.
A wonderful meal and great experience when taking elderly parents to celebrate a 90th. Requests made on the website were fully observed; the food was great, the service attentive but not obtrusive. All in all, I fully recommend!
Service was top notch! I came alone for a quiet lunch after a long hot day in Kew Gardens, and the staff made sure to seat me inside, even on a busy Sunday with larger parties. I really appreciated that. My server was kind and chatty and I enjoyed the appetizers as well as the butternut squash / ricotta pasta which is worth a try!
Very upset, we used to come for Sunday roast all the time, we arrived everything is delayed, coffee was just water without the coffee grains dissolved.Confused as not what we are used to when we attend. We then receive our roasts which was just shocking, vegetables are out of date gone along with potatoes! We order 4 medium rare & one medium. We asked the waiter numerous times which one was medium, he didn’t know what that meant!!!!Then along with everything all in all we didn’t even have any medium rare they had all been cooked the same medium!!I could go on but at the end we realised it’s under new management & new chefs that clearly don’t know about English Sunday roast!!Very upset as I loved it here but would not return, just trying to save you all the time and money
Good meal enjoyed by all. Sat inside to avoid flies on very hot heatwave evening.
Best Sunday Roast me and my husband had in London so far, nice garden, the staff is really attentive and professional everyone is lovely and helpful! This place is a must.
Ate here twice for lunch while researching at The National Archives. Both times staff were very friendly and responsive…much more so than most other pubs. On my last visit I enjoyed the 7 pound lunch option of mushroom spaghetti . Nice indoor and outdoor areas.
Ordered a pint, and they didnt have any change for a £10 note, needed to pay card (its the middle of the day on a Friday, wheres the float?). Go to the garden and got told I cannot go outside as its all booked and I should go to the street. 30 degree weather, and my only outdoor option is sitting on leather and a glass table. Both were roasting. Guinness werent that good either. Will not be back!
Stopped by for some lunch after visiting Kew Gardens. The Wagyu Burger was incredible, and of course the beers are great too. Excellent service as well.
Last year we were raving about this pub due to the lovely food and garden. We came back a couple of times this year and found that the quality had gone down, whilst some of the dishes were far too small. Today was the last straw.First up, the vegetarian (falafelroast. This was passable but last year it was brilliant. The roast potatoes were undercooked and there were only two of them, whilst I couldnt taste any cheese in the cauliflower cheese. But the nut roast (veggie version, not veganwas the real showstopper. Everything was boiled. Maybe call it a nut boiled in that case? It was apparently boiled because the standard roasts were cooked in goose fat. OK but you can still roast in oil. And my vegetarian roast still had the roast potatoes, so I guess it wasnt vegetarian after all? The nut roast was incredibly bland with no flavour whatsoever, it tasted like something youd feed a dog. Disappointed that our local has gone so far downhill.
I’m an English-born Aussie in London and this place tops the lot. Yorkshire Pudding to die for and the Sunday roast is just magnificent. The wait staff are very good, friendly and attentive.
Avoid the vegan roast at all cost.I understand its 2022 and they may feel obligated to put a vegan option on the menu, but the severe lack of effort put into the vegan roast was something new.You will only receive half a roast, as they just leave everything off that isnt suitable. And the roast is not a roast, its half cooked falafel. Best not to bother.
By far our favourite Sunday lunch . The food is unbelievable and the service is amazing. Everyone who works there seems to take pride in creating a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend it
Visited on a quiet monday evening, the small bar area soon filled and we headed to the garden where we sat undercover with a heater. Lovely food, the sharing platter (scotch egg, croquettes, pigs in bacon and pork scratchingswas fab and a great starter between 3. A lovely spot on Kew Green
Lovely meal. Did but unfortunate that we were not able to have our dog in the upstairs eating area which we were not aware of when we booked. They were fully booked so could not be moved. This meant we had to take it in turns to look after our dog! Aside from that the meal was lovely and the staff very friendly.
Had a lovely evening at the Greyhound! Highly recommend - great quality food and friendly service! Thank you for having us and we will definitely be back :)
A fabulous summer time stop for a refreshing drink. Lovely open spacious reception area with plenty of outside space which we took advantage of in the early evening sun.
Had lunch yesterday sitting in the cosy booths in the back garden. Very nice staff. A tasty fish cake and asparagus. Perhaps could have some with some chips to go with it but it was tasty.
A great afternoon with delicious food and very welcoming service. We were well looked after by Valentino. Thank you
5 stars for this amazing sunday roast. Not only the food was delicious but the service from the entrance until the end was impeccable! Valentino really took care of our table and especially of our little one. We had a great time, the vibe is good, service is great and the roast is to date the best Ive had in london. We had the ultimate sharing plate and it was huge! Thank you Greyhound we will be back!
Traditional pub with British cuisine. It was a bit crammed in there but the food was plenty. Good value for money.
Friendly staff with erratic service. Menu advertised on their website is inaccurate with items missing, in my case the stuffing with the chicken Sunday roast. Had to ask twice for table water. However the quality of the food is always good. There seems to be a high turnover of waiting staff, but the tall guy overseeing the tables (may be a kiwi?Is always charming and engaging.
We went on the off chance for some lunch and am pleased to say we made a great choice. We started some some food from the snacks menu and found the pork crackling strips to die for and the Padron peppers were ok but nothing spectacular. We went for the £7 main and we had the roast lamb that was simply but very tasty. Not a massive portion but perfect for lunch. The service was also amazing and am very happy to recommend this a venue worth visiting.
Went for a monthly close friends family Sunday roast, we go to a different pub each time. The experience at The Greyhound Kew started off a bit shaky got better and then crashed!! Very slow service and unknowledgable waitering staff.....we finally got to order. 1 × sharing chicken roast, 2 Vegan Roasts, 1 single chicken roast and 1 Pork belly roast (or as the waiter called it..Pig!). The food didnt take too long to arrive after ordering which was great. The chicken and pork roasts were amazing. The Vegan roast...not sure what was on the plate but we tried it anyway...result..2 people with FOOD POISINING later that Night!
Good chips and a pleasant dining room upstairs. The outdoor area at the back is also quite nice. Its still pub grub, but its decent! And the waiters were always nice when we visited.
Came here after mums funeral, all the staff from management to waiting/bar staff all very friendly and really helpful, nothing was too much trouble.Booked food beforehand which was very good and ordering extra side dishes when we arrived was not a problem. Did book to use the garden but heaters had broken(they were fixed later that afternoonso we used the upstairs function room instead which turned out fine as it was a really cold day - we basically had use of the whole pub anyway. Everyone had a lovely time there after what was a very emotional occasion. Thank you everyone at the Greyhound. See you again. 🙂
The booking process and communication can be very difficult. Recommend you call to secure a booking rather than email.Sunday Ultimate Sharing Board is incredible, plenty of meat, really tasty and Id definitely go back for that alone.Quite a small pub but loads of space out the back with heating and cover from the rain
Popped in with my mate for a cheeky beer, neck oil, table service good, staff arrived complimentary tachos, of course we stayed for a second pint, love venue, dusk across kew green, beautiful from pub window.
Had a fantastic roast lunch here today. Staff were nice and friendly. Will definitely be visiting again soon.
Shocking from start to finish - firstly we chose the place because of the menu, arrived to find a very small limited available amount of items - when questioned if this was the only menu they said yeah sorry! No explanation before or why it was reduced.Service is good at the start then they forget about you, we ordered drinks which came promptly but then we ordered food from the limited menu. 3 Wagyu Beef burgers, 3 “Vegan” bean burgers (see pics attached2 of us being vegan and 2 vegetarian it was the only option anyway. Imagine our surprise when these vegan burgers arranged - all with bacon and cheese and one even with extra bacon and cheese!!!!! When we questioned the waitress she really couldn’t understand what the problem was and told us that was how it comes!!!! When she eventually got a senior person involved they explained vegan to her and she rolled her eyes and took the food away - no apology - we then waited a further 45 mins for the new burgers to arrive. The beef burgers were swimming in grease and juice from the pickles but had a good flavour. The greatly anticipated bean burgers when they finally arrived had some apparent smashed avocado, which must have been half an avocado thinly spread amongst 3 burgers and almost non existent. The salsa was fairly laughable, when we asked the same waitress where it was she pointed us towards a 5 pence piece worth of red sauce that was on the base of the burgers, take a look at the pictures and you just might spot it, she advised us that salsa (her definition and explanation to usis basically Tabasco sauce if we didn’t understand and as it’s so hot they didn’t put much on at all because nobody likes it - we asked for some more to give a bit of flavour to the dry patty, and she again explained that it’s simply Tabasco and too hot to eat a lot, again we asked for more to give flavour, 30 minutes later and after asking 2 more people she brought us back a tiny portion of what we believe to have been sweet chilli sauce mixed with Tabasco and tasting very cheap - enough for 1 person between the three. We asked for mayonnaise for the overcooked fries and they brought us something that tasted of sour cream at its best. We politely declined desserts and requested the bill in the hope that a small apology or token gesture would be offered for the shocking experience and service but instead we waited for 35 more minutes and then was presented with full bill including service charge. Not wanting to stay any longer we paid and left promising to never return and we advise that you don’t bother either - disgraceful in the current climate
Great Sunday roast. Had the roast pork belly - beautifully cooked, tender pork with crispy, delicious crackling. Nice staff, lovely venue and atmosphere. Shout out for the deep fried parsnip - never had that with a roast before before and will definitely be trying myself.
Such a great experience! The food was absolutely lovely and great customer service as well! Will be back for sure!!
Lovely dining room and food beautifully presented however the beef was rather tough and unpalatable which was disappointing. My roast pepper & tomato soup was tasty but my friend ordered mussels and Id almost finished my soup when the waiter said that there were no more mussels left. Perhaps the kitchen was just having an off day.
The food was lovely and the staff were so nice and accommodating. The outdoors was spacious but cozy and the heaters worked pretty well too to reach most to the table. Would gladly come again even if its just for the pigs on blankets and pina coladas.
A nice pub with a garden. We visited during the Covid time, where they were offering table service. Its a small pub with a 30-ish seat garden. Service was professional and polite, and attentive. We were asked several times whether we had everything we needed despite an app where you ordered online. It wasnt cheap, with average cost of £15-ish per head. Starters are around £8 per heaf. Beers were around the £4.50 mark which is par for the area.If you like, you can take-away to Kew Green and drink in the park, which is fairly pleasant if youre happy standing or sitting on the ground.Overall a nice place to spend a couple of hours on a Summer evening.
Firstly I will start with the positive, the roast dinner actually was very tasty.Negatives, the service was awful, the staff were over worked and looked stressed. Everytime I had to order or pay bill I would have to wait for a long time and flag there attention which was frustrating. I also ordered some additional sides which never came. The pub itself had the potential to be really nice, great location and food is good but the service was probably the worst I have ever had and I dont normally complain about things. To the owners please employ more staff who can then actually tend to the customers like bringing drinks or placing orders and also make sure your staff have some customer training as theycame across rude, incompetent and unfriendly.
We tried the ‘steak night’ offer on Thursday night, and got the ‘bite night’ special. Everything on the plate, was bigger than the steak. When we took it up with the staff, they couldn’t have cared less. It is the smallest most pathetic steak I have ever eaten, and definitely the last.. we are absolutely convinced they halved one steak for 2 (maybe 3)Save your money and go elsewhere!!
I love the Greyhound. Its a real locals pub and a true gem in Kew. The cider was perfect, not too sweet, if a little pricey at £5 pet pint. If the weather allows, definitely go sit in the fab garden at the back. Great atmos.
At the invite of a friend my partner and I had Sunday lunch at the Greyhound. She had eaten there in the past and vouched for the quality of food and atmosphere. The atmosphere was very nice and extremely dog friendly but the food was not up to standard. I had the roastbeef and Yorkshire pudding. It was by far the worst roast I have ever had in London. The fish and chips and salmon that my fellow diners ordered was very well presented and of much better quality. I would try again with their everyday menu and would definately return for a drink but I would recommend giving the Sunday lunch a miss.
A SURPRISING, BUT EXCELLENT FIND...h what luck!My Italian guest and I had decided to do an impromptu river cruise from Westminster to Kew Pier. We got off knowing wed only have 2 hours before needing to return.id not been to this part of town for some time and was horrified to discover that a pub I knew had been converted into an Ask Pizza - very disappointed. But intent to not ruin a day eating in a chain, we walked a little way around the corner and spotted The Greyhound on pride of place at the head of the Green. It was the hook of "Independent Family Owned" that immediately drew us in.The joys that awaited couldnt have been more of a surprise. It was a wonderfully sunny day and we wanted to sit in the garden. No problem, the rear of the pub had a huge summer garden with inspired pods to sit in, that not only had individual heaters should the temperature drop but also a service call button - genius. The prefect blend of Al Fresco eating with some sun & wind protection. The Virgin Mohito my guest had was devoured in seconds, which thoroughly impressed.I had a Crabbies Ginger beer.Id ordered a Corned Beef Hash to eat, which is good comfort food, but what arrived was a dish that could have graced any fine restaurant. A perfect poached egg sat atop beautifully cooked potato and exquisitely herbed corned beef drizzled in an excellent hollandaise sauce. Genuinely delicious. My guest said her Cured Salmon was the best she ever tasted.I really cant praise this venue highly enough. The staff were extremely efficient and incredibly attentive. The whole place felt family run as if each staff member were related and keen to impress each guest who came through the door. The perfect way to visit is to grab one of the antique boats run by Thames River Boats from Westminster Pier take the few minutes walk to Kew Green and relax in the Garden. But however you get here, and get here you must, enjoy this fabulous food.Dont wait until your visiting Kew go as soon as youre able. You wont regret it.
