A cosy 16th-century inn and a bright restaurant, serving local cask ales and international classics.
Nice little village pub. Plenty of different drinks on offer. Kind friendly staff. We went through midweek so it was quieter. Food is proper pub food. Cant go wrong.
Beautiful home cooked food
Slow service dreadful dessert menu only ok the day I went if ya a chocolate fan or vegan
I have revised a review that I wrote a couple of years ago from 4 stars to 2. Since my first review the standards have dropped unfortunately. The food has definitely had a drop in quality and so has the service. Part of my order was wrong and I could not find a waitress anywhere on the premises for about 10 minutes when trying to place my order. Same with the barman (whos dress style was totally out of place for this style of country pub), I couldnt find him either so the pub missed out on our last round of drinks. Wont be going back anytime soon.
Really disappointed had a table booked for 5.30pm, we ended up walking out , as a lot of items on the menu we asked for they didnt have ! Bar Service was poor and the basics out of stock eg lime cordial, most crisps and nuts .very sad 😔
Very nice food and very good staff.me my wife and two sons had a lovely time
Good pub. Gets busy at weekends. Wide range of ages go in. Good beer. Nice and clean and tidy. Plenty of parking. Need a taxi or a nominated driver. Nice surroundings for a semi urban area.
Used to be me & my partners favourite place to eat up until the pub changed hands . Not any more . Standards of place is not mach to what it used to be .
Only stopped for a quick drink. Black Sheep and Landlord ales. Full menu. Outside seating.
Just been today for my Sister in laws 70th birthday meal, myself and my husband have been many times before and always enjoyed our food. Today was no different, in fact the delightful staff and delicious food made by a fantastic chef was taken up another notch,I chose the homemade steak and ale pie with homemade chips and proper mushy peas ,it has to be the best ever pie,the pastry melted in the mouth and the big chunks of very tender beef with rich gravy could have only been beat by my late Mother, now that is a compliment, take it from me .Our birthday girl went for the smoked haddock fish cakes, again home made,3 large fish cakes with hollandaise sauce and a poached egg appeared and again thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot recommend this place enough and hopefully someone will read this and give you a try . A beautiful place in a beautiful village, its worth every penny, thank you.
Went for a family meal with 10 of us. Food was nice and well presented unfortunately this was let down by one member of staff (blonde hair in a Bob style older femaleshe was rude and abrupt which unfortunately let the pub down. (Theres no need to use bad manners and be rude when there are children present). The other members of staff were fabulous and a credit to the pub.
Had great food in the past but not today. Waitresses were great, but the food took absolutely forever to arrive, with no explanation. The starter - battered prawns, was dry and overcooked. The main course was a Large fish and chips. What came was a small portion and again overcooked. The fish was dark brown and dried out. Very disappointed with the experience and such a shame as the Greyhound used to be a great place to visit for good value wholesome food. Doubt well go again and would deff not recommend to friends
Very nice pub quite busy for a lunchtime, had the fishcakes they were delicious and nearly the size of tennis balls.
Very nice pint of Timothy Taylor and a decent panini and chips.
Mrs and I had the Sunday roast meat sandwiches today very very impressed will be back for more well done 👊
Staff serving were lovely. Disappointing as a number of dishes were not available including no pasta dishes. Limited desert seems to have lost some of its previous atmosphere. Also no peroni on night we went it was very quiet.
Went to Greyhound today for the first time since it came under new management, what a job they’ve done. The food was outstanding, the portions were huge compared to other places, really good value for money. Plenty of room just a really nice country style pub. Well done team
Called in with the family for some lunch. I had the club sandwich and my wife had fish and chips. What a fantastic pub! Food was lovely and all the staff where brilliant. Great food great service! A beautiful historic pub, well worth a visit!!
Lovely pub in a nice village location. We just had a quick drink in the sun, was lovely
Went for some food and drinks at this lovely local pub last night. Great pub in a gorgeous setting. Had rack of lamb and couldn’t fault it, locally sourced from round the corner. All the staff were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Great pub, great food, excellent service. Highly recommend and will be back soon
A lovely meal in a lovely location. We ate outside next to the cricket pitch. The team were very helpful with food intolerances/allergies.
Relatively nice country style pub, good quality cask ales. Only popped in twice for a swift one after visiting the local garden center, only thing Ive found which really lets it down and the reason for it not getting at least 4* is on both occasions the person behind the bar has been hiding in the back leading me and at least 1 other customer waiting for probably a good 5 minutes even if there maybe only a few other customers sat at a table elsewhere.
Amazing food . But unfortunately very slow service and wasnt told there was a delay in the kitchen. It definitely could of been better service
Staff were very pleasant and the food was amazing. Good size portion for decent price. Will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu
Great village pub atmosphere dog friendly plenty of room for dogs to enjoy outside unless theres a cricket match on good food and efficient staff well worth a visit
Nice original pub with lovely beer garden overlooking countryside and cricket ground.
Lovely pub with friendly staff and customers. Plenty of outdoor seating looking onto local cricket field.
Absolutely fantastic day had yesterday. The landlords cater for everyone…so much family fun outside then to top it off our meal was amazing. We had a table for 13 and everyone’s food was thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend The Greyhound!!
Thank god the food and beer was passable, because the people who were serving where bloody awful, surly, very very slow and the place was fairly quiet, along time since Id been, certainly wont be rushing back 😱
Lovely pub, not eaten but the food looked nice. Parking but beware if there is a cricket match on - your car might get damaged. Limited on road parking.
Been an amazing day following the cricket playing and friends taking part at the Otley show, so of course 5 of us needed food. The food was closing but after little persuasion both chefs were happy to make tremendous meals that we couldnt fault. My wife is a fussy vegetarian yet the penne pasta made to order meal was fantastic, and similar was a meat style version. 3 of us had the chicken and beef burger option mine with bacon, cheese and salad and again didnt disappoint.Food was lovely, staff engaging and pleasant, and we happy this our village pu. Well the greyhound crew x
Place is lovely, beer is good, service is good,. Food is awful, Drink and be merry here, But Do Not Eat.
After a recent visit it’s very clear to see that the pub is under new management. The food was poor, the table was sticky as were the menus and the customer service was dreadful. - the waitresses don’t appear to know what is going on, there seems to now be a very limited menu and when we asked for quite a few different things we were told they had ‘run out’.We asked for the specials and were advised that there were none, the waitresses were in hoodies and trainers and the chairs now appear to be covered with very cheap ripped red chair covers. - this is not the old greyhound where the staff used to all be in uniforms, it used to be clean and the food used to be lovely with a great specials board. The cherry on the cake was us witnessing the incredibly rude ‘manager’ who barely handled a customer complaint from another diner regarding the food quality - he proceeded to speak to the customer in a rude and patronising tone and told him to leave the restaurant as he didn’t want to see his face in there again. We will not be visiting again and I l think the new ‘manager’ needs to reevaluate before the greyhounds reputation is ruined for good - judging by the other reviews, I don’t think it will be long!!
came for sunday dinner this week we were greated by guy behind the bar who asked if we had a booking and pointed us in the direction of the food area .the staff exlained the specials told us the roast & soup of the day options food came quickly and the portions were really generous too! the chef (scottish guy)came out and served the table next to us he was really friendly and asked us how our food was too everything was really nice and the deserts were huge! glad to see this place back busy again and starting to liven up for cricket season
Visited for first time on Sat 14 May 2022 at 12.15pm after passing many times over the years.Very pleased with the olde worlde decor which is how we imagined it to be.However, what we did not imagine is to be “served” by a mumbling youth with hugely bleached hair looking very inappropriate for the setting and then our order to be taken by another mumbling youth with piercings all over his face and scruffy clothing looking like he had just left a dirty nightclub. To add insult to injury the “music” was an absolute disgrace- blasting out hard, screaming rock complete with lyrics including “s**t” and “f**k you”.I was completely disgusted and offended by this so I cannot imagine how the couple with children aged about 5 and 7 must have felt subjecting their family to this disgusting language. There did not appear to be anybody of a suitable age and experience behind the bar and it seemed that these youths had selected their “favourite music” to listen to as it was certainly not in keeping with the ambience or what one would expect for such a lovely village pub.On top of all this the food was quite horrible and nothing like the photos online- dry, overcooked chips that were like crisps; tasteless chicken Goujons (nice batter thoughand over microwaved peas. We get the impression that this place has been taken over and standards have dropped massively and, in the case of these problems listed, seem to have disappeared completely. What a shame as we had high hopes when we went in after all the years of passing by.I look forward to your thoughtful comments regarding this.
Absolutely lovely pub, staff are super friendly and very welcoming, Also surprisingly good cocktails, we can’t wait to come backs again
Used to be lovely food and service but has gone downhill over last 2 years served a pie that was so hard was inedible and oven chips everyone in party of 5 was disappointed in the quality of food served will not be going back
Ive been several times with family and usually Ive been impressed but went again recently and the food was sub-par, in fact, in particular, the veg was brown in the middle. In addition, whilst the staff were friendly, the service was painfully slow despite there not being many people in. Overall it was okay, its a little hit and miss and the fact that there is no wine menu for the restaurant area is a little annoying.
Great little traditional pub with good food and friendly staff . Never seems to change even after many years away .
Lovely warm welcome on arrival. Drinks and food choices taken quickly. However, then things started to go wrong. One meal ordered for large fish arrived with small fish. This was rectified. Chicken and mushroom pie, very small. Expected cut from a homemade pie, but was a very small individual. When three of the party had finished eating but one still eating, waitress started clearing plates. We asked her to please wait. This obviously was taken with humbridge cos no one came back to us. My husband went to ask for service cos we wanted sweet and coffees, but waitress brought the bill. She apoligised and said she would bring menu, but damage had been done so we left. Staff training needed. Quality of the food was good and well cooked. Sadly wont be returning
Excellent overnight pub stop for our motorhome, next to Tong Village Cricket Club, with superb food menu and really pleasant staff.Nearly forgot. It did Ruddles which I haven’t seen for ages.Would definitely recommend it. Messaged ahead on Facebook which worked really well.
Lovely food, quality ingredients. Good selection of beers/real ales. Very warm welcome for us, including our greyhound!
Have been to the Greyhound many times in the past and always had great food and service. However nine of us went Saturday 12th February for a birthday celebration and were very disappointed. Although the food was really good the service was terrible. The staff congregated outside the kitchen door to socialise, often being joined by bar and kitchen staff with customers ignored. One bar staff member (wearing baseball cap backwardswas constantly in this area chatting and rolling cigarettes. Have tried to phone Landlord with no success. We will not be returning.
Disappointed. Having visited in December after not having been there for a number of years I was very impressed, however tonight was totally different. Restaurant staff more interested in chatting to each other than serving customers and the member of staff (male, in orange huddy and baseball capwas a disgrace, licking out a glass bowl like an animal in view of customers. Spoke with adjacent table who were in agreement with us.
Best pub meal in ages. The Burns Night Pie was to die for. My friend had the Steak Pie which she thoroughly enjoyed. Will certainly revisit soon. Betty Stirk
The pub is now very tired. There was a party of 12 of us and the food was absolutely awful. The only home made item was the pate and possibly the fish pie. It is overpriced very poor quality food. Three of us had very poor bugers and was given a sachet each of ketchup. None of us finished the burger as it was very poor quality. All in all it was really poor
Had a super lunch here the other day. Traditional but high quality pub food, think mixed grills, homemade pies, steaks etc, but it’s all lovingly prepared and expertly cooked. Desserts also beautiful and homemade, local goodalls ice creams from down road feature on the menu. Service attentive and waitress was lovely and welcoming. Child friendly.
What a fantastic spot, everything was perfect. The food as you can see has all been eaten!I will sure return when that log fire is burning. 👌Thank you 😊
We went for the first time on Sunday and had 5 different meals between us. All the meals were excellent quality. Starters and puddings were lovely aswell. The staff were brilliant and there was no problem when we asked for extra veg and gravy. We will definitely be going back soon.
First pub meal inside a pub in ages (for obvious reasons). Decent choice of ales & lagers and naturally I started with a Landlord because "you can take the lad out of Keighley..." then I had a Leeds Pale and then a Peroni. Alcohol free options we were aware of were Becks Blue and Heineken 0.0 which was useful as the Mrs was driving. The food menu is fairly limited but believe me this is a GOOD thing!! The starters (Salt & Pepper chicken breast for me, Bruscetta for Mrswere fantastic and of a decent size which had I known beforehand there is no WAY I would have ordered the Large version of the main!!I opted for Chilli chips, which comes with salsa and sour cream. What arrived was basically a fruit bowl filled to the brim!! It was so vast it even attracted comments from a neighbouring table asking "How many more people are coming!?"It was absolutely amazing and to my shame it defeated me! In a world of diminishing portions and too much choice The Greyhound bucks the trend in a positive way. Next time Ill order the normal portion haha. The pub itself is well presented and has lots of character, lovely traditional style with nice outdoor seating too overlooking the cricket pitch. The only niggle (and it is minor and probably nothing to most peopleis the choice of music inside. 100% this is a personal taste thing but to me it was completely out of character with the pubs traditional style and feel. But then I am very particular about music so take it leave what I have to say about that haha.Overall The Greyhound is a brilliant pub with excellent food and we WILL be back.
