A lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Kensington with perfect front desk service and a great bar
I had the worst stay ever.Very unfriendlyThey charge you 200£ just for the mini bar even if you don’t use anything there.Still didn’t get my money back. You can’t even open the windows in the room and it’s way to small
If your looking for comfort and a place that feels like home this is a great experience no two rooms are the same high standards
Great little hotel, location is excellent for the Royal Albert Hall and surrounding attractions. The staff are always very helpful and polite. Rooms are a bit of a mix, some are a little small but they are always clean, comfortable and well appointed. If you want a treat, book the Tudor room for historic excellence.Take your time for a cocktail in the bar, wonderful atmosphere, excellent staff and top choice of drinks.Breakfast is always good here, make sure you make time for it before you leave.
Only booked a classic double. Bathroom could do with a upgrade. Staff fantastic. Breakfast perfect.Definitely stay again.
Great hotel and staff with historic rooms.
It’s like stepping on to a film set. Everything is actually from the 19th century. It’s quite amazing to sleep in a bed so old. The mattress, however, is newer and very comfortable.I loved it! You have all the necessary amenities plus a special experience.
It a great place to stay if you visit London…….thank you The Gore
The staff provided excellent service and provided wonderful dinner recommendations. They even made dinner reservations for us! The breakfast was average. The bar was excellent. The room had no dresser to unpack the suitcase and a very small closet. The air conditioner was excellent! The Gore is located near Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. Public transportation is close by.
Very nice place to stay if you are going to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall, which is just around the corner.
Low staff levels but the rooms are generous and clean.
Nice rooms nice beds BUT no large towels when we went for a shower...
Stopped by for a drink after a show as friends were staying there. Large glass lass of wine in my hotel further up the street £5.50. £12 here! Say no more. Bar staff was very grumpy too!
Wonderful staff and excellent location. Rooms are small but the care and quality made it a non-factor.
Reception and Conciarge very polite and respectfulespecially Mr. Gorege, until one day I came back tomy room and found missing luggage and money,my advice to everyone please dont let the housekeeping clean up your room while youre outside!!
Wonderful hotel in the heart of Kensington, and around the corner from Royal Albert Hall. Check-in was efficient, the room was well appointed and fabulously clean, with Penhaligons toiletries. Check-out was equally efficient and warm. This place is old-school British luxury. Creaky floors, heavy drapes, large windows and a real key. I have to also give credit to the night-manager Michael for his kindness and graciousness.
I hate leaving a bad review but this needs saying. We regularly visit London and like to try out different hotels.Being positive, the bed was comfy and the hotel is minutes from the park. But……Finding someone else’s contact lens on your bedside table is not acceptableHaving a bath/shower with an extremely high side that is tiled and lethal when wet is not acceptable.Having a sink with no mirror unless you lean over the toilet to see yourself in the mirror above is not acceptable. To be charged a service charge for breakfast when you have no choice but table service is not acceptable. You will be charged unless you question it and then you are told it’s optional. Again not acceptable.(Talking of breakfast why do these hotels service French yoghurt when our dairy farmers are on their knees? Buy British! No good gloating about your fresh British eggs and British cheese for the omelette !)Extremely disappointed with what should have been an amazing stay by reading the latest reviews. And ending on a positive. The waiting staff at breakfast were great, very polite and trying to serve as quickly as they could.
So called Covid hygiene? Don’t think so….items found from previous occupant. Room very tired, no clothes storage other than a few hangers, bathroom verging on the unsafe with the shower, no mirror near the sink so shave over the toilet! Breakfast was poor in quality and options. A complete disappointment and one to cross off the list.
Beautiful hotel with a breathtaking interior.Late 19th century luxury that has been remarkably well preserved until today.Experienced cocktailwaitors in the bar, and a tasty - albeit limited - food menu. But who needs food when theres great cocktails?
What a lovely Hotel...especially the bar!! Steeped in history and very attentive staff. We really enjoyed our stay. Best parking is at The Tara Copthorne as unfortunately nothing near the Hotel.Lovely Breakfast too!
Just wanted to thank you for making our stay for my birthday and wedding anniversary so very specialWe stayed Friday in the Dane Nellie Suite which was simply stunning, nothing like the sterile top hotels we have stayed in before , can see the room has been put together with thought , love a mind care. All you staff are a credit to you, rally comes across that they love and are proud of The Gore. The lady who served us at breakfast was lovely and the team in Bar 190 were great both at lunchtime and in the evening.A special thank you to the front of house team who welcomed us when we arrived and saw us in our way when we left , made the whole experience very special and one we won’t forget. Thanks againAnd hope to see you again soonVince & Steve x
Stunning simply stunningAs soon as you walk up the steps from Queens Gate Road you are are made to feel like royaltySo friendly and professional the staff clearly love and are very proud of The Gore which is what makes it so specialThe decor is amazing , classic EnglishOur room the Dame Nellie Suite was mind blowing , like your own little piece of a stately homeNever stayed anywhere quite like itPure luxuryBut with heart, not like some sterile modern hotelsThank you so much for making our stay so memorableHope one day to be back
Great Bar for a chill-out moment!!Good service.Good choice of spirits.Comfortable sitting.And oh yes, please free Bar-snacks😍Definitely return.Recommended yes ☑️
Room was lovely, beautifully maintained, very clean and tastefully decorated. The whole hotel is stunning and so very well looked after. The staff are super friendly and very, very efficient, The food is sublime (had dinner and also breakfast there and could not fault anything). Will most definitely stay there again and would recommend it too. Its a couple of minutes walk to the Royal Albert Hall so the perfect place to stay if youre going to the Hall. Only slight less than positive comment would be the very limited stocks of tea and coffee in the room and the having to pay for water from the mini bar. But small things in the great scheme.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Beautiful hotel very Agatha Christie sadly it was let down by poor service the the dining room. first morning had cooked breakfast, very small for what we were paying and rather over cooked. Second morning we were a little later service rather poor, had to wait a long tome for breakfast, porriage was cold and not cooked properly. Needs better organisation to cope with full dining room.
Having read some of the reviews before our stay I was hoping for a good hotel. I was wrong this is a very good hotel with a perfect choice of staff to make the experience an absolute joy.I am sorry for those that have left reviews expecting the world and coming off short, but your reviews and moans explain more about you than the hotel to be honest. The staff.... Delightful welcoming from all on the front desk. Detailed explanation of where everything was , who does what job etc etc. Showed up to our room and all small details explained. Never did a member of staff offer just enough, we were always asked if there was anything else that could be done to make our stay any better. The breakfast. Excellent. Great thought going in to explaining origin of food and supplier. Presentation was spot on. You would never go hungry here.Room - was lovely . Four poster. Yes not the biggest room Ive stayed in but comfort and style was ideal. We booked a two night stay to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays. The hotel is in a great spot. We walked through the park each day. Offered umbrella each day where there was a sign of rain. But I had to say to the staff (sorry for not namingthat their welcome and service was the best we have ever had in any hotel we have ever stayed at.Will we be staying here again - of course!!!
Started off ok, but ended horribly. Both breakfast orders were wrong. Hand soap not replaced, had to wash my hands with shampoo. Breakfast trays of rotting food left in the hallway all day and not even removed by 8pm. On my last night I found a sopping wet crumpled up pillowcase on the table in my room! Why??? I did not put it there! I had left 9 hours before. GROSS. My personal makeup cloth was sopping wet as well, which meant someone used it to do something, who knows what. I can’t begin to say how disappointed I was with the morning manager. She was rude, unapologetic, called me a liar, and said “I am sorry for your behavior” which was insanely rude. Their staff destroyed my belongings and left a weird mess in my room- I’m entitled to be upset and appalled. They claimed that a supervisor supervised my room cleaning- but- then why did TWO people leave a wet pillowcase crumpled on the table, forget hand soap and use my belongings? Shady as hell. Aside from that, it’s quite far from the train, staff has no knowledge of restaurants in the area, the room was pretty, but I didn’t expect to be treated like garbage when their staff makes a gross mistake.
I attended an event at this hotel bar and would highly recommend it. The interior decor is grand and beautiful. We had drinks at the bar and the cocktails were fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive the entire time. We attended the supper club downstairs and had a four course meal. The food was good with the dessert being particularly outstanding! It is definitely a meal I will remember for a long time!
Attended a promotional launch event here in January 2020; using the downstairs function space and the side bar area. While the catering wasn’t particularly impressive, the wider quality and décor of the venue was impressive throughout. What really stood out however was the professional and good humoured bar staff service – nothing was too much trouble, and also very knowledgeable about the drinks available and happy to suggest options.Would recommend, and would certainly call in again if passing through.
Absolutely love The Gore; it’s always a wonderful experience!Emailed the hotel ahead of time for a car service and to check in early and they were very helpful and quick to respond! The concierge, named “Mate,” was there to greet us and got the room ready quickly and then personally escorted us.The bar is always great and the drinks are innovative and tasty!Restaurant was also great...good food (risotto was incredible!!and really excellent wine list. The only issue we had was the WiFi. It was in and out and with us needing to be available to family I’m the states, it was really disappointing.Other than the WiFi, it was a perfect few days and The Gore was lovely!!
Lovely hotel and staff. We were upgraded on arrival and our room was lovely. There were a couple minor issues in the room such as loose sockets and a missing screw from the socket by the bed. Other than that it was a wonderful place and we will stay there again.
I didn’t stay here but I did come for a meal in the 190 restaurant and it was great. We had the pre-theatre set menu which was very nice and good value. The restaurant is very well placed for the Royal Albert Hall, about a 5 minute walk.Restaurant is quite small and intimate so it’s probably worth booking a table. We arrived a bit early, not a problem, we had a drink in the bar.
We had a wonderful stay at The Gore Hotel specifically and in London overall! When we arrived we were surprised that the room was pretty small by US standards, but I think that rooms are just smaller and older in Europe due to the age. The Gore is a fun and funky hotel in Kensington, close to good food and attractions and importantly for us, a Underground station that took us anywhere and everywhere each morning (after our FANTASTIC continental breakfast). I dont understand the reviewer above who said breakfasts were not good?!?! We loved it! Thanks for making our trip so pleasant, we were sad to leave beautiful London.
No hot water when we arrived on Friday, had to move from first room as it was so noisy (were put in 109 directly over the bar and music and general noise was so loud you could feel it through the floor). New room quiet but bed uncomfortable and curtains useless with light streaming round them from dawn onwards. We requested 4 firm pillows after first poor nights sleep which were very quickly delivered to the room but then inexplicably removed when the room was made up between us leaving and then coming back on Saturday evening.Breakfast disappointing, poor variety meager portions and service slow. This was supposed to be a luxurious weekend for myself and my fiance to come up to London enjoy a show, have a couple of nice dinners and most importantly pick our engagement ring in Hatton garden. Everything else was great but Gore was hugely disappointing and not up to the standard I experienced previously on a number of stays with you.Ill be looking for a new hotel next time Im staying in town.
One of those fabulous London hotels. Great location, just a short walk to Hyde Park or the Royal Albert Hall. What a great interior...! wood panelled and a beautifully presented and tended bar. Little nooks and VIP areas. An enormous range of fine Whiskies. I personally enjoyed Brockmans Gin on the rocks.Steeped in history.. And as you will soon see upon entering the bar where you see the Rolling Stones framed on the wall in a shoot taken in this bar.My family stay here on trips back to the UK from USA and highly recommend.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Small but quirky, eclectic and generally the details and finish are spot on. Building is lovely, bar would be a go to destination on its own and the restaurant has always had a good reputation, though I have never tried it. Rooms are of traditional style, wood panelling etc but they are kept well and amenities including bathroom are very good. If youre looking for a traditional London hotel, how it should be done, this place would be it.
We very much enjoyed our stay at The Gore, London this October. We found the hotel clean and pleasant, and the staff fantastic. The location, close to Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park, was also conveniently located near tube stations as well as a wealth of dining options, from pubs to very good restaurants. Although we did not dine on site, save for a take away coffee, we did avail ourselves of the bar and really enjoyed speaking with the bartenders. A nice place to stay, full of classic English charm.
This stay was our second at The Gore and again we were very satisfied. The location is in easy walking distance of many sights. The rooms are comfortable and just lovely. Again, we were impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. So welcoming! The included continental breakfast is well done and the optional hot breakfasts were all delicious. We were hit or miss on the bar food, room service food and dinner this visit. But to us, that was minor as there are a plethora of great dinner options near by.We would wholeheartedly recommend The Gore hotel and cant wait for our next trip to London when we will stay with them again.
The staff is impeccable. They were attentive, professional, and cordial. Rooms are quaint, and the continental breakfast was delicious every morning. Bed was nice and firm, and there was a large tub. There was even a turn down service! I would definitely stay there again!
First, the staff was incredibly welcoming and professional. The room was beautiful and the bed is comfortable. We were surprised by the handy tool that was included with the room. It was incredibly useful! The breakfast was delicious! Will definitely try to stay here again next time!
Have a look at the rooms before booking. This is not just some travel hotel. The rooms have a certain style which might not be to everyone’s liking. I booked the Judy Garland Suite for a special occasion (short honeymoon getaway). It was perfect! The whole hotel is beautiful and full of character. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was GREAT and I can recommend having a drink at the bar which has a great atmosphere. There is one single thing which irked me: the faucets in the room are too near the edge of the sink which makes handwashing a challenge. I guess it would not fit the style of the rooms to have modern faucets and wasn’t that big of a deal breaker for me.So, if your looking for a romantic getaway with that special someone or just want to visit a real beautiful hotel: I highly recommend staying here.
I was invited by a friend to have some breakfast over here and also have a look around. One thing that was noticeable upon entering was that it was a very welcoming place with a lovely Victorian aesthetic. The food was brilliant! Organically sourced and something for everyone, I personally went for the eggs royale and had some things of the buffet like the yogurts and croissants. The rooms themselves are stunning and very well maintained. All in all, it was a great experience and Id certainly recommend it.
I absolutely love this hotel. So far, the staff is so nice and service is great. The room is so beautiful to me. And it’s very clean. The rooms are very quiet which I love. I feel like I’m living and have my own room in a Kings castle. Waiting for my dinner service and notice that I. can also fill out a slip for the door and check out all the things I want to me sent to me for breakfast in the morning. Loving it!
The hotel was excellent and the reception staff very helpful. We were delighted that you found us a room very near the lift (203as I have difficulty walking.Breakfast was very unsatisfactory. Poor staff, forgotten items, long delays, people come in and nowhere to sit as tables had not been cleared. Not very satisfactory at all and should be addressed.Having said this we shall be booking for the similes date next year in the e expectation that these comments will have been addressed,.
Great experience!!Myself and my wife stayed at THE GORE hotel two days back in September, and as soon we walked in we felt special..! The welcoming atmosphere the friendliness end professionalism of the staff couldn’t go unnoticed. The building decoration and the room where amazing and with such a good taste and spotless! I personally travel lots with my work and it is very difficult find a special place like The Gore!!! Well done management and well done staff!! :-)Will see you soon
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights after our wedding and before we went on our honeymoon to Thailand. The Gore Hotel did not disappoint - amazing decor, oozing with personality and charm. The place is immaculate and the staff are so pleasant and friendly, everyone we dealt with was very professional and competent. We enjoyed great cocktails in Bar 190 and whilst not the cheapest in London, the ambience of the place really makes the night out both memorable and special. The breakfast and bar menu snacks were great too. We look forward to our next visit to the Gore Hotel.
Stunning hotel, looks beautiful and packed full of history. The bar is amazing, the breakfast was delicious. The room was incredible and the bed was really comfortable. Location is perfect for the Albert Hall and also for the museums. The staff were lovely and couldnt do enough to help. Thoroughly recommend this place.
Lovely decor for the hotel and bar.BUT... Single room lacking in cupboard space. No chest of drawer or other space to place shirts, sock or underwear. Scaffolding outside of window for repainting. Asked for an upgrade (complimentary as a Tablet Plus member), but none available.Breakfast buffet choice very good. Staff very friendly. Conclusion: my room was barely acceptable for me alone. However had I come accompanied it would have been an unqualified disaster.
My wife and I stayed for one night as we were attending the Folk awards at the Albert Hall. We had a great stay. Nice bar with good service and good cocktails, we didnt have time to try the bar food or restaurant but if breakfast is anything to go by it would be very good. Great service. The only down sides were a slightly tricky shower in the bathroom and the scaffolding that was outside our bedroom window. Hopefully next time we stay the outside decoration will have been completed and the shower will have been updated.
I was taken here for my birthday. Its a nice hotel full of atmosphere. There is a nice bar on the ground floor serving cocktails (a little expensive). The staff in the hotel were very attentive. Our room was lovely with a big four post bed. The only downside was the fact the room was very hot with no way to cool is down apart from a tiny window.
