Long-established Chinese restaurant with classic and modern dishes in a simple, traditional setting.
Good - This place serves good Chinese authentic dishes. The food is very tasty. The Sweet and Sour chicken was crunchy and delightful. The chicken noodles also very tasty. The waiters were polite enough. What could be better - There isnt much of an atmosphere. No music or smiles from waiters. Quite serious and business like.Im probably the only one to say this, but it is pricy for Chinese rice and noodles. But its in Knightsbridge so Ill ignore...Chairs are a little uncomfortable.Menu is a little limited. No curry sauce...Overall...a 7/10 experience.
Great menu expertly executed. High quality professional staff. We enjoyed our meal tremendously and would definitely go back.
Well this is just the place to visit after a good walk around Harrods. Of course there are dozens if not hundreds of places to eat in and around Knightsbridge but I do enjoy a great Chinese restaurant when I find one. The food was stellar, a great wide selection and very authentic. Service was top notch and hospitality was wonderful. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Again, food was just sublime, no issues whatsoever and didnt take too long. It was very busy so its certainly worth booking a table ahead of time. The hot and sour soup and the sweet and sour prawns were definitely the highlight of the meal. Loved all the food, wish I had ordered more! Great sombre ambience. Will definitely be visiting again. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
Great food as always .... consistently high quality and good as the first time I ate there 30 years ago.
Good Chinese food, not as good as it used to be at this restaurant
Excellent food would definitely recommend. Will be eating there soon again!
One of the best Chinese restaurant jn town. No show just good food as the. Ame indicates. .
The food was good, great taste but if the waitresses needs to have a face mask, PLEASE talk slow and understand that you are difficult to understand! A lot of running back and forth fromThe staff made our dinner a bit stressed.
Beautifully Cooked Food. Attentive staff. The clay pot fish was incredible!
I’ve been to another Good Earth, which I thought fabulous. This time I found the food great, but the atmosphere was lifeless, and all felt a bit soulless. Perhaps it was because it was a very hot day outside. It was little things like no prawn crackers, after we asked about them we were told they had to be ordered separately. We ordered a Martini cocktail, which we thought would come before the food, however starters arrived first. It was strange timing. To be fair we didn’t specify the cocktail should come first, but we weren’t asked either. There was no music at all, not even quiet background music, so it was a bit silent as there weren’t many people. I must say again that the food was delicious and the staff served us quickly and efficiently.
Food was a bit expensive but it was worth it for the taste, very delicious. Helpful staff too.
Had a reservation for three and was warmly ushered to the basement part of the restaurant...loved the decor and the ambience. The waiters were nice and professional and the food was excellent
Food was good. Would definitely go again and order loads. Venue was great.
Tasteless absolutely terrible I honestly cannot believe people come here - the food is so bland on the one hand they def don’t use msg on the other the food taste boiled. Save you $ and go to China Tang
Absolutely amazing food and great customer service. Strongly recommend! We had starters, mains and dessert and I look forward to try new dishes.
Poor value for money! Tiny portions at crazy high prices. Is covid-19 now the new never ending excuse for fleecing the customer? Its like most restaurants are trying to recover their losses during lockdown in one day!!
Update April 2022: Came back with my wife and had yet a fantastic dinner experience with the same set menu. Wonderful place!2019: Great food, great service and nice ambience. We (my wife, daughter and Ihad the set dinner menu, and the quality was fantastic! The Peking Duck was a high point of the dinner, as was the beef cooked at our table. The coffee served after the meal was also very good. The staff was attentive and efficient. The interior is also worth a look. Highly recommended!
I’ve already visited The Good Earth three times, each one was fantastic. They make wonderful Chinese food, the variety is large and every dish delicious. I would especially recommend the amazing soups and the lemon chicken which was popular. Service is also superb. Loved it.
Terrible service - food and drink got mixed up. Good got thrown down on the table. They gave us the worst table in the loudest room even though we had booked ahead - when we asked to be moved they said no other tables were available but when we left there were many tables for two sitting empty. Hardly any food on the plate and the manager really did not seem to care. A lot of money for people who are clearly not interested in people.
Good Ambience, food and amazing customer service!
This restaurant was close to our hotel and easy to walk too. We were ushered to a lovely table and the dishes we selected were outstanding. The service was superior and when we are back in London we will visit again!
Excellent to come back. Dropped in early evening without booking. Sat upstairs. Great Peking duck 🦆 and Chablis by the glass was great. Friendly service.
Nice Chinese decor. Friendly, attentive and helpful service. Ideal for business entertainment. Great selection of wines for a Chinese restaurant.
Delicious and delicate dim sum. Fried rice was well fried and delicious. Super happy we went there.
Quality food and lovely atmosphere. The fried squid was my favorite dish.
We were going to theatre and needed really quick food. We asked the waiter what he recommended for speed which was the chow main. It was served in 5 minutes and was beautifully cooked, very authentic food as well. First class service although we were clearly just popping in. Would love to go back for a full meal with more time !
If you like Chinese cuisine and you are around Knightsbridge, this restaurant is a must. Tasteful food, restaurant’s decor is traditional and simple. It feels like being in China. The staff is attentive and helpful. I will come back soon.
Best Chinese Ive had in a long long time. Everything was perfect. Staff super attentive and quick. AND, VFM was decent. 6 of us ordered practically every starter, 4 mains, rice & noodles, 4 beers each, £60. Perfectly reasonable IMO.
Fantastic chinese food, with a lot of vegetarian options. Service is second to none with the food being served very hot. Perfect cocktails, very original items on the menu. Will come back.
The Good Earth is possibly the best Chinese restaurant in London. The food is excellent. Ive eaten there numerous times in the past 20 years and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.
Ive been eating at the Good Earth for the last 40 years. Its a classy place, thisbis not Queensway or China Town. This is Knightsbridge and the food is good, it always has and it always will be and I cant wait to visit again next time Im in London. Simply Awesome
Excellent service offered at this restaurant! None of our orders were mistaken, waiters and other servers were consistently checking in on us, and it felt like we were never waiting for any food- it just kept on coming!I definitely recommend eating in the downstairs room as you are segregated from the traffic coming into the restaurant from the main street. This certainly made it a pleasant experience for us.I enjoyed the sea bass and the chicken with black bean specifically, however I did think many main dishes weren’t tasty enough for me to put 5 stars above- I’d say that the food was average, but definitely a step up from your typical fast, family Chinese diners.
The food was plain Westernized Chinese food. They seated me right next to the door where the wind was blowing smoke from smokers in front of the restaurant right into my face and food. There were several seats away from the door but they were “reserved.” No one arrived for the seats in the “reservation” 🙄
Decent Chinese restaurant! Wish they serve dim sum during weekends.
Was longing for good authentic Chinese food with great customer service after few years of absence due to travel and work. And the the restaurant that came to our mind was the good earth and I’m delighted to say that they haven’t lost the touch!Amazing food, drinks and above all five star customer service!Loved it.
What a great restaurant, its very peaceful and quiet, the service is amazing and quick, the food is tasty. Its so calm, you can actually hear what your friends are saying at the table. There is no annoying background music either. But I have to give 4 stars because it is very expensive. If you dont mind the price, I would definitely recommend you visit for an amazing experience. Given the coronavirus, they do a well timed takeaway service and the food still tastes great and well packed.
Amazing food.amazing service.the food is delicious. My new favourite restaurant in London.
Food is terrific at the Good Earth. Always start with the soft shell crab and honey ribs. Each has its own unique taste.and flavor. The seabass is amazing although you do need to watch out for small bones. The best dish is the duck. Very tasty and tender.
Good food. I dont like Chinese food normally its very sweet and the favalours are not delicate. But this place does a great job of blending different ingredients together and I must say I actually enjoyed it. The staff are very attentive and constantly filling up your water glass etc which is good to see. You dont have to ask for anything more, they usually will have figured out what you need and have already brought it over for you
Speaking as someone who comes from a city that is full of really good Chinese restaurants, this place has attentive service, reasonable prices, great food with simple ingredients, and amazing lighting for foodie pics - whats not to love?
We went to the Brompton Road restaurant yesterday before a show at the Royal Albert Hall. Booked a table online in advance. The food and service was brilliant! Clearly not a busy time of the day for them, but that suited us perfectly! We really enjoyed the food - starters, duck, mains and desserts we went all out! The beef in black bean was lovely and they advised us how much rice and duck we would need between 4 people. Would recommend 👍
Chinese restaurant close to the London museums around Brompton Road so perfect to drop into for lunch. Dim sum is home made and there is a special lunch menu so great value.
My father preferred Resturant 20 years back and the same great food keep it up 👍🏼👍🏼
I think this is the best Chinese restaurant in knightsbridge. Even way better than the one opened recently in harrods. You can just tell it is a good place judging by most of the costumers were Chinese. Food tastes authentic and good portion for sharing. They serve dim sum during lunch not for dinner.
After 4 days wandering around London we were exhausted and didnt want to stray too far from our hotel so we ended up at the Good Earth Chinese Restaurant which was right around the corner from our hotel. We started with won ton soup which had a very nice broth, tasty veggies and great won ton. We then ordered the Tangerine Chicken and Orange Shrimp, both dishes were very nicely prepared and had nice flavor profiles. I also enjoyed a decent glass of wine with my meal. The servers were very nice as was the food. The next time we are in London and have a hankering for some Chinese food we will stop by Good Earth for a great meal.
Tried the beijing duck, served in authentic way, highly recommended. We also brought our own wine, but we had to pay a fee of 5 pounds.
Food was absolutely delicious though heavy handed on the salt. We were vacationing London (from Canadaand our kids really missed Chinese food so this definitely hit the spot! The menu is extensive but quite pricey considering the small portion sizes. The décor was nice however the table situated in a “wall cave” (where we were seated atwas weird and difficult to maneuver around especially when our kids needed to visit the washrooms. Service was great – the waiters were friendly and genuinely interested when asking us questions about our home country and our time in London.
Wow. This Chinese restaurant has to be my favourite in the UK. After ordering and eating there for around 6 years, not once have I been disappointed. The food is excellent - when delivered to my house, it is still very hot, with clean and sophisticated packaging. Also, a note to vegans/vegetarians, they have a whole section of tofu which is absolutely delicious!!! 100% would recommend to everyone. Always a good choice. Thank you :)
Excellent quality food, good to see these guys got their Michelin star. Highly recommend, a bit over priced but well worth the extra cash.
What a wonderful surprise! We walked pass it and decided to go in even though it looked almost comically "Chinese." We were surprised by the tasty and authentic Cantonese style Chinese food. Their red bean pancake was also very good for desserts.
