Great food, lovely atmosphere. Great service

Very cosy place with a decent and inexpensive menu. I wasnt particularly impressed with the preparation of a fish dish (lemon soleas they cooked it and left it on the bone but I guess due to the very small fish size they didnt have much choice. Saying that the host offered to replace it with fish and chips, so overall we have had a good experience.

This is our local pub. Its got a excellent range of drinks. The food is always on point. The decor inside and seating area to the rear are lovely and always friendly staff. Highly recommended

Great friendly atmosphere to be enjoyed in this fabulous bar. One of the very best rib eyed steaks Ive ever eaten with my main meal, and desserts just as good.Plenty of different ales and ciders to quench your thirst too. Highly recommended by our party of four who cant wait for a return visit.

Great service by very professional staff, lovely environment. The food was beautifully presented only let down was that the roast potatoes appeared to be frozen ones not home made and my beef was disappointing.

Had a lovely meal from the Early bird menu, 2 courses for £16 or 3 courses for £19, we could only manage 2 courses as we were full, well worth the money and the food was lovely, the atmosphere was good, decor really nice, staff friendly, will definitely be back again.

Used to be regular customers at the Golden Fleece,frequenting approximately once a month.Booked a table for 5,had heard a change of management had taken place.Ordered my favourite triple burger,it came as a standard double burger,questioned the waitress"oh thought you said triple cooked chips"Couldnt believe when I was only offered another beef pate to make it a triple.Beef used to be superb in these burgers,sadly no more,for £17 I felt absolutely cheated.The so called triple cooked chips were under cooked as well.Place wasnt half as busy as in the past.My meal after complaining was knocked off, thats the reason I gave 2 stars.Real drop in standards.

What can I say about this place? Very old traditional but modern at the same time, very quirky, friendly staff who cant do enough for you. Food is absolutely brilliant, very well presented, get a lot for your money and very well priced. 4 people 1 baby, 2 courses for us all as well as drinks 4 alcoholic 2 soft drinks and the bill was less than £190.Wish Id of taken pictures but being so hungry and wanting my food I didnt have time to take a picture. All 4 of us went for the fillet steaks, 2 of us having the 8oz and 2 of us having the 6oz hence the reason why the bill was so high but so low at the sametime! Overall, excellent food highly recommended would definitely visit again and very well priced too 👌

Loved it, incredibly welcoming although my hubby had his work clothes on, got a few funny looks from people eating but the staff were fabulous.Food was spectacular and value for money and the toilets were squeaky clean. Large carpark was also a bonus. Highly recommend

Had the lite bite early meal the prawn cocktail was full if prawns and lovely presented. Followed by the Fish and chips the batter was so light with tasty fish in it. Service excellent .

Great pub … we went today 5 of us for a meal …. the food was really good and presentation was excellent…. Also all the staff were really helpful and all did an excellent job … would recommend this place for sure .

Lovely roast dinner and the gentleman welcoming and waiting on us was super friendly. Only dissapointment was we were squished on to a small table for 4 when I also noted it was a table for 5 with my toddler included. We couldnt get everything on the table. Very awkward and some of the female staff noticed and overheard but did nothing to assist. My 89 year old aunt was asked to moved from the table when we went to bring the car round for her but not offered a chair- she walks with a stick and struggles. She was told to sit at the bar on a bar stool!

OMG the food is TDF, absolutely delicious. The staff are so attentive, but not OTT. 10/10. If you want a meal thats a good price & fab then this is definitely for you. everything about this place is 100% cant fault at all ☺️

Food top class and very friendly with good service. The house wine was very nice but rather expensive so check out the drinks list... sadly we didnt but it didnt spoil the lunch. Would take anybody there as so good otherwise.

What with the family very busy but the staff were polite and friendly. The food was first class ,beautiful cooked and well presented, Would recommend it to anyone. But remember you have to be pay for what you get.

Weve dined here and it was good, service, food choice of beers from the bar.We also called for a drink on a Sunday at about 6.30, lots of diners but no tables to sit with your drinks.

Enjoyed afternoon tea yesterday with 3 friends. Have to say it was absolutely delicious presentation exceptional. Staff were amazing we would definitely recommend the food was delicious cannot fault looking forward to our next visit as we will definitely be back 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Was disappointed in meal I chose. No onion in onion soup, but they were happy to change my starter to another of my choice. Had turkey Christmas Dinner for main and whilst it was all nice, it didnt have the wow factor. For the money, I felt Id had just a pub lunch.

Lovely Christmas lunch today for our table of 7 and a special mention about our waitress, Brooke. She was working on her own for most of the time and still served our requests with a smile. She even wished us a nice Christmas when she was finishing her shift.

Exceptional food in a relaxing atmosphere.My wife had spotted the Golden Fleece when we had taken the A road towards Leeds a number of times and I had recalled visiting many, many moons ago and liking it but not being overly impressed.This return journey, however, yielded much better results and I suspect we’ll be going back a lot sooner than previously, the visit was that much enjoyed.We booked for a midday table for three (a celebratory meal for my fathers birthdaywhich was just as the doors opened - and this proved to be the best decision as the venue (the Golden Fleece can’t just be described as a ‘pub’got very busy with a Sunday lunch crowd that knew exactly how good the fare was.And - my gods - the food!! I went for the wonderful and delicate pulled pork bhaji/black pudding balls starter but had to try out the Prawnography prawn cocktail, partly because of the cheeky title but also because of the description of ‘the best prawn cocktail in the world ever!’ Well, I’ll be the judge of that, thank you very much!And, yes, I think they may be right! A combination of battered, fresh and cocktailed prawn, all wonderfully fresh and tasty, paired with fresh crisp salad, sumptuously displayed - and lots of it! The batter was a particular standout – very light and tasty – but the whole thing was well worth paying the extra starter price for.The prawn cocktail actually was part of the Sunday menu deal which makes it an even better appealing option. My maincourse consisted of the beef and gammon roast dinner – other meats are available but if it melted and tasted as good as the beef/gammon did, I’d love to know who their source of meats are as it really was next level, I barely needed a knife to cut it. The veg was honey glazed, again beautifully prepared, and the other meals ordered by our party were equally enjoyed. Forget compliments to the chef, I wanted to go and buy the man a pint or two!Combine this with a warm and relaxed, old style setting and incredibly attentive and positive staff, And you have the makings of a visit which will last in our memories for many moons to come. Visit the Golden Fleece to make your own, you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful little pub. Great food a d staff lovely one staff member was really nice dont remember her name but she was born in Poland and raised in Spain..if you know thats you thank you for for your great service , would recommend this pub too everyone

Food was gorgeous but very expensive had a sunday roast and they charge extra for mash , cauliflower cheese , stuffing so works out alot of money over £20 for a sunday dinnerThey were very dis organised and kept getting the order wrong and had to wait ages for everything . It wasnt the waitress fault the manager was just as bad .

Not the best. Went for a meal as a couple, service appauling. Staff more interested in clearing tables and manager stood doing nothing whilst waiting for drinks before even ordering. Food average. Was going to order dessert but nobody came to our table at all, had to go to bar to pay for bill in the end. If you want good food go to The Grey Ox in Hartshead 10/10. They put this place to shame!

Brilliant food, very pleasant staff, Id be more than happy to give a complete 5 star rating. Id most certainly recommend as one of the BEST dining experiences Ive had where quantity is concerned, worth every penny and time. Definitely a place Id go again and again. Absolutely priceless!

We had an amazing day on Saturday and wished we would have stayed here instead of moving on… beautiful pub! Food was gorgeous and the cocktails were delicious! And the service was just perfect, friendly staff especially Beth who looked after us all. Could not fault this place at all and have even changed our original plans to book a table back here in a couple of weeks. Thanks for a lovely day

We havent experienced inside yet due to covid but sat in the tepee. The service was excellent. There is only a limit menu. What we order was lovely. (Loaded chips with belly pulled pork with cheese . Will return when opened fully to sample their full menu.

Attended a business meeting here and it was such a great place for the meet! Very warm and welcoming with an great atmosphere! The staff were very welcoming and it was very covid friendly. Would recommend this place for a meet or just for chill time! Had a range of food on as well as drinks! Good good grub get in my belly!

Visited for Sunday lunch. Fabulous food, great friendly service & excellent adherence to government guidelines..first visit & will definitely be back.

Had a very nice family meal with adults and young children. The covid situation was well managed and there was a varied menu even in the current situation. Had 5 separate adult meals all of which was very nice. The staff were very nice and efficient which helped towards having a very nice afternoon.Will come again.

Superb Sunday lunch. Back to their best.Felt like their food had gone off the boil a couple of months ago. But we visited on Subday and it was absolutely top notch.
