The Glass House - Tourist attraction in Creston, Canada
Beautiful view. Wish I could stay a nite. 10 dollars to get in to see the unique building and how it was built. Many feelings for me here so gorgeous. So glad I finally got to see.
A must see! This is not only an amazing piece of architecture, but is situated on an excellent piece of land with gorgeous views, not to mention the amazing gardens. Very much worth the visit.
Had a great visit and the hosts here were fantastic. Even had a guided tour of the house. Gardens were great too!
Cool history wonderful spot for taking pictures
Ive drove past this place a few years in a row, never had time between destinations but finally made time this year. It was a great bizarre adventure, the embalming bottles were quite strange to think about while walking through, but checking out the decor in the house was my favorite part
I visited here back in the 60s, about 10 years after the owner completed the place. Still worth a look, given the backstory of what to do with 600,000 used embalming fluid bottles. Not much has changed since then, maybe a little more worn around the edges. Still in the same family and they actually stay there on occasion. Whimsical outside decorations, killer views of the lake.
Last there in the 50s when it was first build. Was very impressed again. A must visit.
Best place to check out of you are in the area. You get a short 5-10 minute tour of the house (well, you go into the main entry, can see the main bedroom and living room before going into the kitchen and leaving). But honestly, the house is cool, but I preferred walking around the gardens around it. Its more like a little castle and you get to explore the area yourself. Its very pretty and if I were to go again (I dont think I would, once is enough for me), if bring a book, find one of their benches in the shade, and just relax in the garden. Was only $10 per adult and $5 pet kid.
Never heard of this place before driving past it and stopping by. It was definitely worth it! They have a tour guide to give you tons of information about the history and how the glass house came to be and about the man who built it. Very beautiful hidden gem with some neat history.
lovely experience .... tour chaperoned by descendant of original builder.
finally visited the glass house and so glad I did. our guide was the great grandson of the man who built it. Pretty impressed with everything about it. Great place to have wedding pictures
Interesting 30 minute stop. Well maintained historic site with beautiful gardens. Pleasant staff, a brief guided tour then self guided. Requires some “surefootedness” as walking paths are all stone and on some slope.
Great stop with the bike club. Did you know it takes one bottle per body for embalming?
Must see it to believe it. Next time we will take the your of the house, both inside and out.
The tour was extremely short and not very detailed, but the grounds provide a nice photo opportunity of the mountains and lake
Friendly staff. Love that it is still owned and operated by members of the original family. My group of Girl Guides enjoyed their visit and appreciated that they allowed us to stay while we enjoyed a picnic luncheon on their grounds.
Its OPEN! so beautiful from the outside. Staying at friends house only a few steps away.
Visited here in summer on the way to Crawford Bay. Right on the highway and not to be missed. Not very expensive. Good to know the history and harwork behind this glasshouse. Tour guides were kind , friendly and informative.Roadside parking is available
I have been looking forward to visiting the glass house, the fairy tale castle like home (now tourist attractionsince I heard of it years ago but wasnt until the day after traveling 4,500 km that I got to make that dream a reality!
Cute place! Very interesting little tourist spot with an interesting history, easy to spot and stop at and not expensive.
Very neat place. Wish there was a little more freedom in the house to look around. All in all a great stop and some ingenious and unique history. Beautiful grounds.
Absolutely stunning passion and true craftsmanship in every square inch and as far down the cliff side as we are rightfully allowed to access. The family who carries on his legacy is absolutely blessed to have this place to share. We are as lucky to have as much to see as we do. Wow! An undeniable must-visit, slowly.
Very friendly well informed guides. This is a must-see if youre in the area. Interesting tour, well worth the price.
Very cool house right on the side of the road that you cant miss. The tour guide was excellent and knew all sorts of interesting things about the guy who built it. He coincidentally comes from my home town and actually died before I was born. The house has been standing for 69 years and is a wonder of creativity and upcycling. I recommend checking it out at least once :)
Didnt go inside but such an awesome place
This was a very neat tour! Amazing history and artistic foresight!! Staff was friendly and informative....a must stop for anyone that is touring.
Very special house, it’s different experience and story is interesting. The gift shop is so cute, I love it. The staff is very friendly.
My wife and I visited this amazing house today. It is wonderful to see how the house exterior walls, towers and a small bridge are all made of empty embalming fluid bottles and to listen to the story of them and that how and why they were made in this way. This is run by the family who own the house. Very kind and respectful people.
It’s a nice and great stop! The building and land have lots of positive energy. We’ve really enjoyed. The owner and their family were very friendly and kind. I recommend it! 🤩
Cool little piece of history, make sure you have $10per person. Still worth a visit.
Super nice staff.Neat place to spend an hr on the way to the boat.Kids loved it.Just watch your step and watch for broken glass on the paths and railings.
My mom spoke of this place being such a beautiful visit. I finally got to make the trip to see what she did! It was absolutely beautiful and the history as to how and why the house was built is a very interesting story. Highly recommend!
An interesting stop on our bike trip. Nice views and a very unique house.
Beautiful home. My friends and I enjoyed our tour, and the young fella who gave us the tour was great as well.
One of the best weird roadside attractions around the lake. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and thoughtful! Loved the vintage decor and the collection of lawn gnomes :)
Best place to visit. Great architecture and design done. Well maintained. Must visit if you go through that place. Located on the banks of river. Great outdoor views. Family oriented place. Open from may till october.
It is a beautiful location and very interesting lots of picture taking opportunities.
Very quaint and strange, yet the location and views are fantastic.
Worth a stop. Great view and amazing story
We really enjoyed the mini tour and being able to casually explore the grounds! Gorgeous views and interesting history.
The Glass House is a great place to check out, so unique and interesting!
Wow! This place is incredible! Stunning views, amazing history. Interesting tour which then allows you to explore on your own. Built in 1952 using embalming fluid glass!
Very friendly and informative staff. Really cool house to see and learn about. I recommend stopping for a tour if you are in the area
Great stop. Such a neat place to explore. We took my 7 year old son and he didnt want to leave! Great piece of history. Definitely worth the stop!!
Very interesting place.
Loved this place. What an unique concept! So well maintained and an incredible location.
Interesting stop to look at a house made out of concrete and glass. Worth while stop.
The Glass House was an unexpected stop. We saw a "tourist attraction" sign and decided to check it out since it was right on the main road. The cost was $10 per adult, a tad high for such a quick tour. Although, I must admit the story about the builder was fascinating. If walking is a challenge, this is not for you... too many stairs & uneven ground. Will kids like it? Oh yes, because the outside has numerous gnomes, fairies, frogs, flowers, as much more.
Not bad. 10 bucks pp is on the high side. They were working on the roof and had tarps draped over the tops of the outside walls which took away from the visual experience.
Interesting but the grounds are not even and you have to be careful. The glass bottles are broken in various places so you have pay attention. Historical use of a item that was going into the landfill.
