The George Hotel in Bradford
Description
Privilege
I stopped in to have a drink for my dad who used to drink there when Jack and Winnie Keneally ran the pub well over 50 year’s ago. I was looked after by a couple of young men who were working there while on uni break. They were both so welcoming and friendly making my visit all the more enjoyable. Thank you guys.
MoreLovely pub and great staff, best pub in our village 😀
Rubbish place.!!Cold chips, cold fish and more like its out of a freezer.! dolmio coated pasta...more like a microwave meal.!Prawn cocktail was warm and served in a desert bowl.!Service was good by one of the waiters but food was terrible.Dont recommend the place.!!!!!
MoreWe only stopped off here to warm up after swimming at goit stock waterfallAs we found the place by accident we ended up sat here for about 2 hrs talking with staff and other customersThis place is so welcomingI also ordered a hot chocolate and was treated to. A few chocolate biscuits to go with itWe will visit again if ever in the area and also sample the food next time
MoreChef??? No beer. Orded food incompletely wrong 10 pm last orders!!! Whats that all about defiantly WONT go again
MoreThought we would have a family meal at the George Hotel, arrived at 12.00 and sat outside til 12.15 and pub closed!
MoreWasnt impressed last orders were called at 9.30pm on a Sat night. However, staff were polite and friendly
MoreSoup was cold, my husbands fish was very obviously cooked earlier and then warmed up as the batter was very dark and hard. We will not be going again.
MoreWent on steak night. Very good deal for 2 perfectly cooked trumps. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable atmosphere and mixed clientele.
MoreLovely pub , but food a little slow ,had to wait a while even thought not many people eating in
MoreIt says "under new management" outside, so we decided to give it a try for tea. Good selection of traditional meals on the menu...which we enjoyed. Doom bar and Old spot bitter offered and well kept, friendly cheerful staff and a big warm fire! Really enjoyed our visit and we will be back.
MoreNot much of a menu - and 3 dishes that were on it werent available ; sat for nearly 10 minutes and nobody came to see what we wanted .
MoreHad a quick pint after funeral - good venue and glad they still have separate rooms. Much nicer than a big open space.
MoreFriendly staff as always ..... not been for a meal for a very long time due to lock down & other things ..... but went to the steak night, which was fab value with a bottle of wine ..... the food was delicious, couldnt fault anything :-)
MoreQuiet....Poor cleanliness on the condiments as per picture, and surprised to see some dust in the overhead lights, would expect a very clean establishment after all the lockdown weve just suffered, however the redeeming factor was the food was good, so given a 2 for cleanliness and 5 for food. 3 stars total.
MoreVisited with my husband and 6 others. With good social distancing in place we had 2 tables of 4, but were still able to chat to each other. Good food choices on the menu and the food was really good. Lovely waitresses too. Would recommend.
MoreNot sure what has happened in the kitchen but the food was well below par tonight, much worse than weve had before and one of our adults meals came with 5 chips..... Unlikely we will be returning.
MoreWas really disappointed long wait for starters and main. It wasn’t busy either. Sunday lunch was terrible Yorkshire Puddings cold and soggy was given extra because they were small, sent them all back . Told chef sorting out for you, waited ages had to ask was then served original puds same state a big no no! Had to ask for sauces not offered! Only strawberry ice cream doesnt go well with deserts. No return for us, was looking forward to new venue too.
MoreOur go to place locally. Food can take a while from ordering to arrival but it is delicious and fresh when it arrives. Big kids meals so we still get one for our 2 younger kids.
MoreFood absolutely fab.Staff very polite and extremely helpful. Lovely place.great place just for drinks, but fantastic for food great afternoon.thankyou.The George
MoreTheir pies are amazing, full of meat and very tasty. The chips are good too. Good selection of Old Spot draught beers along with a few others.
MoreNice food, but was expecting more, very very overrated this place. Staff were sound and the place was clean and pleasant. We were in a party of over 20 and they quite clearly couldnt cope.
MoreStopped in whilst on a long journey to refuel and so glad we did! The George was really busy, however we received great service and are some really good food at a very reasonable price. Excellent pub.
MoreVisited on a very warm evening. The choice of food was pretty good. Food arrived quickly and was tasty. The room was airy and plenty of space between tables. I would go again. Prices reasonable.
MoreHave been here many many time food in the past has been great and service always left feeling happy. However went today and we was asked too have a drink and take a seat in barfor 10 minutes good stuff 35 minutes later i asked if they knew when we could be seated and was shown two tables too pick from great good service as usual had starters again great starters then the mains came out after eating a few peices of chicken my partner asked if my chicken was ok i said up too now yes she too a peice from the plate cut in half and was shocked it was not white but pink as in not fully cooked i went too bar and ask too have a quiet word explained waitress took our plates too kitchen and didnt come back apologise offer any fresh meals or anything i then after 20mins of been sat had too again go too bar ask what was happerning the lady behind bar ask the problem which i explained i was then told no thats not right we probe everything basically called me a liar again no sort of sorry or anything i said well heres the payment for bill and said i was sorry but wouldnt be back after my experience at which point the lady shrugged her shoulders and said oh ok i was not rude didnt raise my voice didnt refuse too pay i have worked with the public 20 years and have never responded too a complaint as thought i didnt care will not be back sorry too say
MoreYet again another great outing for food at The George Hotel. Always feel welcome here and the food/service was impeccable as always. Hats off to these guys, there was an awkward customer who was clearly trying it on and was handled in the best way. 10/10
MoreWe stopped for lunch at the George ... great location. Nice staff and I had a lovely Portuguese Fish soup from their speciality menuTry the George its a great place
MoreLovely meal and good service. The only thing, the room we were in was so cold. There were no other diners in there either that may have created a little heat. We were a party of 8.
MoreHad a walk and ended up at the George at Cullingworth . Ordered a pint of the local brew and was very tasty , my wife had peroni . Decided to eat b,basbit was crazy pizza night I had the pepperoni with extra jalapenos , it was delicious . My wife had the bacon and chicken pie which she thoroughly enjoyed . Will definitely go back to the George .
MoreNice place, lovely staff, food was good and well presented, if we are in the same area we will call in again.Bad points.Parking missed the turn off had to double back.A variety of chairs to sit on, none seem to match. Our table was a bit rocky but I think Im just nit picking.
MoreSunday lunch was very basic with what looked like an aunt Bessie yorkshire pudding. Not much meat and all served on a small plate. Just over £51 for 2 courses- 4 people was fairly cheap but overall experience was average at best..
MoreVillage pub, great atmosphere and great food. In the heart of a beautiful Yorkshire village with a cobbled main square sits this traditional old English pub. Full of character as well as local characters with their dogs - sit by a roaring log fire and sample some of the local beers on offer before treating yourself to a proper Sunday lunch, or choose from their comprehensive menu it has something for everyone including veggies. Check out the Specials Nights.
MoreIm my opinion that are very friendly. They provide good service, however it takes a while for the food to come. Also the margarita pizza was very garlicy and a child would not normally eat it
MoreExcellent place and staff. We had the 2 Rib eyed Steak and a bottle of wine both of which were very good all for £25! (Wednesday night special)A real bargain, there is a really good choice of other food on the menu. The choice of beers wasnt to my choice as I prefer more unusual strong craft ales or bottle strong Belgium types all of which are now more common but have not yet made it to the George.
MoreWe really like this place with its spacious rooms but there are also more cosy rooms. It is set in an old village with lots of interesting buildings. The menu is varied and accommodates those with smaller appetites. It is even better at Christmas. Would highly recommend it.
MoreVery pleasant surprise. Good food. Good service. Will go back
Waited 15 minutes just to get a menu. Then waited just over an hour for our meals even though it was pie night and thats what we had! Only 2 other tables in so not busy. No sugar with coffee and never asked if everything ok. No atmosphere at all. Was ok but wont rush back.
MoreMost of the food was cold, the majority of us ended up leaving most of the food.Bless the waitresses they tried their best, just a shame the chef couldnt deliver.Manager didnt do much and didnt even want to listen to us properly.
MoreExcellent food and great beer. Best food in a pub anywhere near me. Truly fantastic.
MoreThe food was fantastic, staff were brilliant. I would have given 5 star but it felt awkward at times because we have recently moved into the area and it was like a new face, we could feel a slight tension. One thing would be to embrace new faces and make them feel welcome a bit more.
MoreLovely local but often a fair wait for food; even when it appears relatively quiet.
MoreFantastic Tasty Food & Ale, especially Old Spot - Spot o Bother. Super friendly, informative and polite staff. Dogs are welcome in the bar area. Cant recommend enough, a must stop if passing!
MoreMassive menu for a local pub with loads of choice. Plenty of vegetarian options as well.Nice beer selection on tap (all local). My dad had the George Pie and raved about it.Also welcome dogs which is a massive plus!Really recommended.
MoreGood food. Had the Steak salad. The was excellent but the salad was somewhat lacking in substance; just a dish of rocket leaves and a few Parmesan shavings does not a salad make.
MoreCant visit as often as I would like to. Brilliant pub, fantastic choice of their own brewery ales. Gorgeous food. Friendly staff. Good job I dont live next door!
MoreExcellent own brewed beers as well as good wine selection. High quality meals ! The only point against it is that it is quite expensive. Lovely cosy atmosphere.
MoreTook my mum and dad for a Mothers Day treat. Food was well worth waiting for. It may have been a tad expensive but the steak in the George pie was exceptional. The Fish was chunky and delicious. The Lasagna delicious. We all ate every bit of food. Thank you to the lovely waitress who was also very efficient and helpful. Will definitely be going again.
MoreToday was our first visit and from our experience it wont be our last. Our four year old was presented with a colouring sheet and crayons: a great start. The menu was extensive with plenty of selection. I highly recommend the George pie: melt in the mouth beef in a thick gravy topped with thin and perfectly crispy pastry. Amazing chips and perfectly cooked veg on the side. Hubby had the George burger: a beast for a lunchtime appetite. Decent sausages on the kids meal were a definite plus point as well. We both squeezed in a pudding: a decadent salted caramel chocolate torte, all of which washed down with a rather tasty real ale. The serving staff were all really friendly with ready smiles. And the total bill was nothing short of reasonable given the quality and quantity of food we consumed. Highly recommend a visit. My one area for improvement would be toilets: they are a little unloved...
MoreBirthday lunch with the family. Arrived at 1200 staff pleasant but no idea on how to be a host, baby chair, menus and drinks had to be asked for after 10 mins the place was empty. Order was taken for mains and we had to wait 42mins and the place was quite. 3 mains good 2 poorly seasoned! Again the service was not what you would expect, not attentive enough and come across tomorrow will do. Ordered deserts 35 min wait for them to come no apology. This pub could be a cracker but really needs to up the customer service and speed of service.
MoreWe live 30seconds away and have been here on a few occasions. Once we waited 50 min before our order was taken and then another 45 min before the food came. Another occasion the fish stew tasted like muscles in pure tomato purèe. We wont be going here again. Theres plenty of other nice places to eat nearby. 2/10 😕
