It was wonderful to be back for Sunday brunch. Food was great as always.Tab was a bit of sticker surprise, it was $165.00 for two of us with 1 mimosa and buffet each.

First time for the brunch, very nice. There are privaterooms for larger groups, and solarium like room that would be perfect on a sunny day.

Excellent banquet facility. Great for events like weddings or special gatherings. The classical look really provides a great atmosphere.

Ill keep this short ONLY because people dont read long reviews...but we just got married at the Gates and we couldnt have asked for a better venue! Ray and the entire team there took such great care of us. The food was absolutely AMAZING. We made a lifetime of memories that day and the Gates and their staff will always hold a special place in those memories. Highly recommend. I could write a book and how great they were! ONE MILLION STARS!

Was recently here and had dinner. Not entirely sure how they can jus add a 17% tip to your bill without your permission then tell you to pay you bill. A tip anywhere else is an OPTION before you pay you bill. Definitely wont be returning

We did our intimate wedding at The Gates (sunroomlast Feb 2022. There was a winter storm but everything went smoothly. Ray and his staffs were really helpful and professional. Ray even gave my husband a free lunch while waiting for our ceremony to start. The food and service were excellent!

Best breakfast buffet in the city! Lots of choices from soup/salad, crepes, omelets, hot roast beef, beautiful cold sliced salmon freshly baked breads, a wide choice of breakfast favorites including made to order eggs Benedict. Fresh orange juice and coffee and of course desserts. Atmosphere is welcoming, Service is attentive and Food quality amazing!

Food was ok however not justified with the price. Atmosphere was ok. Servers were friendly however seemed quite preoccupied with a big group beside us. Probably will not be back.

Hi there,I want to share my extreme disappointment with respect to our recent interaction/experience with The Gates on Roblin.We tried booking The Gates on Roblin as a potential Bridal Shower Venue for approximately 120 ladies next May 2023.My parents and I tried contacting Ray a few times over, with less than subpar customer service/professionalism over the phone and a lack of communication via email. Simply stated, Ray was always “too busy to talk” or in between meetings and never really had time to set aside for us. We were very kind and organized in our emails to him, as well, clearly outlining the date/time/potential menu that we would have loved to have seen at the Bridal Shower. To this day, we have yet to receive a response from Ray after he told us he would get back to us “after the weekend” (which was over 3 weeks ago now).If Ray was unable to provide us with the customer service that we deserved, he should have handed us off to Nadine/or another Banquet Manager that could have taken care of us.While we completely understand how busy this time of the year is for the hospitality industry (and post-pandemic), this should not be an excuse for a lack of customer service showed to potential customers that are trying to book The Gates for a future event.The execution of current events at The Gates, alongside the booking of future events should be balanced and time evenly allotted to both things.The Gates on Roblin is supposedly “held in high regard” as a top restaurant/venue in Winnipeg; however, our experience was very disappointing.The booking of a Bridal Shower is supposed to be a memorable experience, as a Bridal Shower/Wedding are two of the most memorable days for a lady! This experience was anything but positive!At this point, we will not be visiting the Gates on Roblin in the future (or recommending your venue to family/friends).We were able to secure a beautiful venue elsewhere for my Bridal Shower, and the customer service provided to us was exceptional.Post pandemic – I encourage your facility to re-assess roles or hire additional staff to achieve the exceptional customer service that maybe once was/and is now lacking.Thank you,Valentina

Wonderful dining experience that was worth the short drive out of the city! We had the chateaubriand for 2 and it was the most tender beef I’ve ever had!

Very beautiful venue, although commute could be an issue for those without a vehicle.

If youre looking for a wedding venue, you NEED to visit The Gates. Their team is amazing, food is delicious and the venue is breathtaking. We had our wedding there on June 10 and I cannot say enough amazing things. Everyone was shocked how beautiful our wedding was and how professional the team was that we hired. Thank you Nadine & staff for making our day beyond perfect.

Wonderful atmosphere, great service. We had the special Surf and Turf. 4oz steak, 2 lambchops, and 2 giant prawns with garlic mashed and vegetables in a mushroom sauce. Dessert was a DeLuca Cappuccino and Chocolate cake. Loved everything and we will go back.

We had a group of 10. Appetizers were quite good. Brie, calamari, ribs. All good.... The mains? God awful.2 x had the "stuffed" chicken... Literally a chicken breast with not 1 spec of stuffing. Both people were very disappointed. It was dry and the sauce wasnt very good.2 x had steaks, ordered medium. One steak was extremely rare the other was a new york (1/3 of it was fat/gristlethat was paper thin, soggy and rubbery and dont forget rare! Lol....Absolutely horrible. The rest had pastas that the others said were good.Half the people didnt like their meals.Been here lots of brunchs and its always really good. This is my second time for dinner and both times were not great, this time was worse. Disappointed for the close to 800$ bill.Wont be coming back again.

We came for Mother’s Day brunch and couldn’t ask for more! Exceptional food, service and atmosphere. Kudos to the owner for creating a gem for Winnipeg. 5 stars and more!

We recently had a celebration of life at The Gates. I cant be happier with the service that we received. Right from my initial email exchange with Ray to the planning, to the event, everything was done exactly how we had been promised. Ray was amazing to deal with, he was friendly & courteous & very prompt. The staff that worked during our event were also amazing. Friendly, quick & compassionate. We could not have asked for a better organized event space. The food was also very good & fresh. If you have an event coming up I highly recommend contacting The Gates on Roblin. We plan to reach out to them for any future events we may have. Thank you so much Ray. You made a difficult day that much easier for us.

Had a celebration for my daughters 18th bday, great venue, superb collaboration in planning our event, fantastic food and the service was top notch!!! Highly recommended!!!

The food was great! Definitely hit the spot and more. I especially loved the starter the brie, props to the chef! Staff is super friendly! Great environment!

Whent today for brunch $58 per person, was good but not for that price .. $37 -$40 would be ok.But to that expensive brunch I ordered glass of red wine and was given fermented old box wine-toxic poison!!Because of that will never go again!Service is not trained, very young who doesn’t know the work.I received replay fromThe Gates that they open the bottle before serving my wine 😂… wow! I asked server if that was carton wine.. the server said yes!!! So you have guts to tell me that.. I know how wine taste from fresh bottle.. you said you didn’t charge me for that. How could youCharge me for serving me toxic old carton wine.

Was here for Valentine’s and the service was excellent, great wine recommendation. We had a $75 4 course menu and got a lot of food. Everything tasted great. The prime rib was the best I’ve ever had.

I love seafood and have travelled to many cities on the west and east coasts. The calamari that I had at the Gates was fresher and tastier than any seaside restaurant I’ve ever been to. I honestly don’t understand how it can be so good compared with restaurants with local fresh catch.

My husband and I got married at The Gates last month and we could not have asked for a more perfect experience!Nadine is the most incredible, professional and accommodating person to work with.As we got married at a time when wedding guest numbers and such were up in the air, she kept us up to date on all new health guidelines and provided alternatives if needed all the time.There was no question she couldnt answer - dealing with The Gates is absolutely stress free for planning any event and the grounds are breathtaking.There are not enough words to praise and thank Nadine and all the staff of The Gates for making our wedding the most beautiful day to remember. Amazing food, beautiful scenery and the most attention staff one could ever hope for.Thank you for all you did - we look forward to coming back!

If I could give the gates 10 stars I would! My husband and I had our wedding here and everything from the staff, to the venue, to the food (!!!far exceed our expectations. All of our guests still talk about how amazing the food was.Ray was a wonderful event coordinator to work with and he went above and beyond to make sure that our day was perfect. I felt so relaxed on our wedding day because we knew we were in good hands. Whilst the cocktail hour was going on, his staff set up the reception area and it blew me away their eye for attention and how meticulous they were with the set up.Their head server (Chrisand everyone working there was so professional and amazing.I cant stop raving about this place! If youre thinking about hosting a wedding, consider the Gates, you wont be disappointed.We are so grateful to the Gates and all the staff that made our day so wonderful. We could not have asked for more, everyone was done to perfection (even my medium rare roast!)

We are especially indebted to the couples wedding event manager, Nadine, who turned this special family moment into a lifetime memory of enjoyment and happiness.We had known by its reputation that the Gates on Roblin was a great place for a wedding given its high end standards for an elegant, yet natural setting, tasty meals and hospitable staff. What the Gates provided to us was all of that and much more. The guidance at rehearsal of the vows, spectacular decorating of the grand ballroom, pampering us at the charming gazebo, treating our guests with utmost warmth, appetizers and meal choices so delicious beyond surprise, and all within such very comfortable surroundings.In addition to Nadines kindness and support regardless of hour of day, we experienced staff so gracious that we felt like royalty. Nadine, the event manager, was an absolute rock star - she was so accommodating and made the whole planning process so simple! The food and service were out of this world - our guests were all raving about how great it all was! My husband and I wanted to book a venue that was close to the city that we didn’t have to bus our guests out to, while still being peaceful and quiet. Enter The Gates on Roblin! We were instantly drawn to the immaculate gardens and stunning views of the river. Food and drink were also incredibly important to us, and The Gates is one of the few venues that offers a fine-dining experience. What really sealed the deal was the massive deck that overlooked the lawn and river. We envisioned our entire wedding on the deck, but that wouldn’t have been possible with our original 110-person guest list. However, we got exactly what we wanted with our completely outdoor, intimate wedding on the riverside deck. It was so comfortable and cool despite the hot July weather. Bonus: they spray for bugs, and we didn’t see a single mosquito that evening!The Gates’ Venue Coordinator, Nadine impressed us immensely. Her responses to all our questions were accurate and timely. Nadine ensured that no detail was missed, despite the last-minute food and beverage additions when the restrictions were alleviated two weeks before our big day. Thank you again, Nadine!

The staff were wonderful, even with 3 little ones play & moving around. The room was beautiful and set up just right. The food was exceptional, absolutely no complaints from anyone! My wife and I got married October 3rd 2020 at The Gates on Roblin. Not only was planning a wedding in the middle of a pandemic complicated enough, we had only 8 days for the final decisions after social restrictions became limited to groups of 10.We couldnt have picked a better venue on a normal year, but the over-the-top efforts put in by Ray, Nadine, and the staff of The Gates on Roblin was phenomenal.We held an intimate reception of 10 in the full ballroom, beautiful lighting, decor, tableware and overall ambience. Our ceremony was outside in their well-manicured grounds, where we are able to have a musician play live for us. Only a few minutes outside the city, you would think youve gone hours into nature.Ray was involved in every aspect of our event. He was there Friday night to test sound and lights in the room, stocking the bar with all our favorite picks and providing us with all the technical support we needed. On Saturday he was seen doing every job from bartending and serving, to doing roadie work for our pianist. His commitment to his craft as a host and owner, as well as his determination to make this day perfect for us despite the circumstances was encouraging and raised our spirits.Nadine was our wedding coordinator and held our hands through all the lengthy processes of getting a wedding organized. She always responded to our emails and questions and was very thorough with her information. No question was ever too insignificant or irrational, her answers were always thoughtful. She was delightful to work with and helped make our visions come to fruition. Her experience was invaluable when we designed the ball room and built the structure of our day. She was also very helpful in pointing us the in the right direction for vendors and unique additions to our wedding.The services offered by The Gates on Roblin were well above our expectations, and we couldnt have been happier with the reception, staff, food and estate grounds

The Gates on Roblin was amazing coordinating everything for our wedding day. The endless options for appetizers and plated meals were so great and allowing us to put our personal touches by bringing in specialty drinks for our rehearsal dinner and wedding made it that much more enjoyable. Nadine coordinated with the vendors so that everything was taken care of and the room looked spectacular in the end. Any small changes that we needed/wanted last minute due to Covid were taken care of with no questions asked. Due to the size of the ballroom, we were still able to have a good sized wedding with our closest family and friends and we are so grateful we were able to get married on our date with minor adjustments. The grounds are so beautiful that not only did we get to enjoy the ceremony space and reception, but the gardens and wrap around deck added even more enjoyment for us and our guests. The day went flawlessly and I would recommend choosing the Gates for any wedding or event.

Our wedding was this past weekend at The Gates & we cant say enough great things about this venue! Leading up to the event, they were so flexible and accommodating during the COVID craziness. In the end, they made it possible for us to have as close to a normal wedding as possible, along with still following all of the health & safety guidelines to keep everyone safe! We had our dream wedding during COVID and couldnt be happier! The food was amazing and all of our guests kept telling us how full they were from the meal and are all still raving about the delicious late night poutine! Overall the service was great and we couldnt have asked for a better day! Nadine made the day stress free for me as our coordinator & Ray was so pleasant to deal with! We are so happy with our decision to go with The Gates as our wedding venue!

Ray is a godsend. After weeks of terrible news related to COVID19 Ray facilitated a small outdoor ceremony within all public health recommendations. His staff is professional and courteous. The food is excellent. The property is beautiful. Our guests have been raving about how well things worked out given the current environment. We cannot wait for our next dinner out at The Gates on Roblin. Thank you for everything!

Our wedding was scheduled for May 17 2020 and after weeks and weeks of terrible news due to the pandemic, Ray lent us a generous and helping hand and offered us to use the beautiful backyard and patio at the Gates for our small and initiate wedding ceremony and reception. If it wasnt for him, our dream wedding wouldnt have come true. Ray was a pleasure to deal with, always friendly and kind, and he continued to go above and beyond to exceed our needs. Since he has hosted many weddings before, he was really helpful in suggesting cute little ideas that would make our wedding even more special than what we would have planned ourselves (for example, suggesting that we light off a few Chinese lanterns for memorable photos). Him and his staff offered the highest degree of customer service that I have ever experienced. Our guests wont stop ranting about how amazing the food was, and how beautiful the space was. We are forever grateful!! We cant wait to come back for our all future wedding anniversaries and special occasions. Thanks for everything Ray!!

We had a lunch there today and it was a really nice experience. Our waitress was good and everything came out quickly. I dont think they had a lot of options on the lunch menu and I did not love my drink- named the hibiscus but that is my fault because I forgot it had grape fruit juice. I dont like grape fruit juice. I thought it had hibiscus tea or something.Also the clientele was a bit older. Mind you, its a weekday afternoon,maybe retirees? The younger audience are probably at work. I am a big foodie and the starter bread rolls was not warm like you would find at red lobster. I also thought my veggie pasta was not as creamy and thick as I would have liked. But my husbands hot beef was good. We spent 95$+15% tip for 2 starters, a drink, 2 main and a creme brulee( which was quite good). All in all, I liked the sun room. It gave a summer feel. I liked that it was quiet and I had a nice time. Would I go again??? Maybe for dinner. We did have a good time generally.

Food was mediocre for the price range. We had scallops for appetizer, duck and lamb for our main course. The scallops were small and overcooked. The main course was good but wasn’t memorable. The warm toffee pudding was good. I do say the mushrooms were delicious. We were there for valentine’s day and they placed us near a family with kids making a ruckus almost the entire meal. Somewhat a mood killer.

Haven’t been here in approximately ten years. Didn’t realize how much I miss this place. The Atmosphere here is amazing. Took my beautiful wife here for her bday. The staff are amazing and knowledgeable and professional. All the questions we had were answered. We never felt rushed nor pushed out the door. The food was amazing and good portions. The desert was amazing. The old house is full of history and beautiful decor. Would totally recommend a friend and family to dine here.

We just had an opportunity to attend a conference at The Gates On Roblin and to say we were impressed would be an understatement.It was a big event and there was lunch and dinner served and they were both exceptional. The food was healthy, fresh, high quality and delicious. The staff was professional, courteous and created a great atmosphere.So glad we attended and had a chance to experience the beautiful Gates On Roblin first hand. If you have an opportunity to go I’d highly recommend it!

55th wedding anniversary, what better place to be. The Gates On Roblin is outside of Winnipeg, a very short distance from the Perimeter highway surrounding Winnipeg. Country setting. Picture below was taken as we left about 9:30 in the evening.Its an old prestigious home that has been converted. Been there many times and even had out 50th Wedding Anniversary party in their upstairs room.Food is a bit pricy, but its great.....you pay for what you get. Service terrific and atmosphere wonderful. Lighting a little bit low if your eyes are "old" but whos perfect. Got to know the GM a very nice person who strives to meet everything you expect in a special night out.If you have never been there, make the reservation and try it out. I remember one February a few years ago, we had a reservation for a birthday supper. Remember its cold in Manitoba in February. That day it touched the -40 degree level but we went out. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves Guess others had cancelled. The plus was the staff kept us company and we had our own little party. A terrific and wonderful memory of that February evening.

We had their G-Unit burger. What an experience, never had anything like it, well seasoned meat and the overall craftsmanship of the burger was incomparable to anything Ive ever had before. Only thing I wished was different was the choice of music. Overall great service and friendly staff!

Love the gates, we got married here a few years ago, and come back every year. So peaceful and with amazing food and service!

I have never had a bad meal here, and Ive been to dozens of catered weddings and events. This was their special veggie omlette, and it was fantastic. The cheese blend that it was filled with was to die for. I ordered the kale salad instead of the usually paired hash browns. It was crisp and tasty, the vinegarette was not overpowering, and everything was fresh. My water glass was refilled often and my server was great.

Food is amazing. Everyone was happy with their choice, and portions were generous but not ridiculous. I cant recommend desserts because no one ever had any room left to try one. We asked to eat in the lounge so we had a private dining room for our family. Service was attentive but not intrusive. This is a super expensive restaurant for us, but worthy of milestone celebrations.

Had a big family party show up and my only gripe was drinks took awhile, but it looked the bar was backed up with drink orders. Other than that it was flawless execution.I was so excited for my food i ate most of it before I remembered to take a picture. Every thing was cooked perfectly.Make sure you check the menu prices or go on pay day - it is a little pricey.
