The Gatehouse in Vitim

Another super evening at the Gatehouse tonight: Richard, Martina and the team providing excellent friendly service as usual - the food was fantastic. We’ll be back again soon!

My advice is train your staff to show politeness without expectation. A tip should be treated as a bonus and not an entitlement (maybe Im not used to London culture). I was very nice and courteous the entire evening, unlike some of the staff. One waitress attitude went from friendly to challenging to offish because I asked to remove the service charge from the bill. I also got kicked off my table very shortly after (by a different waiter), even though I was still drinking my drink. This ruined what would have been a 4 or 5 star review. I was going to tip cash about 5% and not the 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill but with what happened immediately after, I changed my mind. Otherwise decent food and a good selection of cocktails. I wont return.

Very nice pub. I would said it’s a premium pub. We had only drinks. Cocktails was delicious. Staff was very welcoming and friendly with good sense of humour. Will be coming back to try food.

Absolutely lovely atmosphere, however we got £17.50 fish and chip orders and they were so small we had to get more food afterwards. Genuinely was shocked by the size.

Limited vegan menu, not impressive in the slightest.£17 service charge for 6 people excessive.Will not return nor recommend, staff however were helpful and attentive.

Loved it, such a great menu that means you can have classic British or Spanish, even on a Sunday. Really nice staff and dog was very welcome which is always a bonus. Went back again and it was absolutely incredible, the loveliest waitress too!

Lovely building and interior, and great food. My wife and I had 4 tapas dishes between the two of us, which was enough for us. The choice of beers was not fantastic. But the worst thing was that my cash was refused, and I was only allowed to pay by credit card.

Solid food but the service was very slow on a Saturday. I believe there was a party happening which may have taken the focus from normal diners. The garden was nice.

Just had drinks but lovely space with beautiful garden in the back. The bartenders by the way were phenomenal and deserve high marks. Id love to eat here sometime.

We had a great meal although the whether and the garden was better than the food which from my point of view was average. Waiters should know what they are serving as the mixed lamb and beef.

Staff is super efficient and friendly. The garden is super nice too, with a separate space in the front too, and very cosy inside. Food of very high standards too. Despite being in a posh side of London, it feels like an authentic neighborhood pub.

Great pub with good atmosphere and lovely garden. Went on Sunday for a drink, our waitress was unfriendly and seemed bothered that we ordered drinks. When I mentioned i felt like I was annoying her by ordering drinks, she rolled her eyes and left even more annoyed. Worst service I had in a pub in ages.

Saturday at 5.45pm is a challenging time, more likely service is ending than starting. That said, the Gatehouse was friendly and the service was good. Food lived up, wine markup 160%, not bad. Enjoyed. Would recommend, and thank you very much.

Great pub , lovely alternatives for Sunday lunch , I had paella, as well as serving traditional Sunday roasts , my one moan service charge is a bit eye-watering although the waitress was lovely .

Really nice pub, delicious food, great atmosphere. They have a good selection of beers and wines too.We use to go there to listen to live jazz music and recently we went for a Sunday Roast in the garden area and we really enjoyed it! The stuff is lovely and helpful, especially Martina, who took good care of our children and us.Family friendly, cool old style, cozy and relaxing, I will definitely recommend it.

Nice pub! Theres a good beer garden you might not imagine from the outside. The pub in general is better than it was a few years ago.

Sat in the garden in the sun which was a nice experience. Very good quality food, a bit expensive but worth it. Service was very attentive and friendly.

Gorgeous garden and great staff even though busy and rushed off their feet on a hot day, super accommodating and welcoming. We were lucky to rock up mid afternoon on a Sunday and nab a table in the garden thanks to the amazing manager who was lovely - big thanks to him.Roast was excellent too :)

Food is fantastic here and a great wide selection available. I had the paella when I was there it was amazing! Been here a few times for food now but also love going having a few drinks in the beer garden, lovely selection of beers on tap and lovely wines also. People working there are lovely also.

This is my favourite pub in the local area. I live in Muswell Hill. Also they saved the day when I lost my car keys in Hampstead heath, and nearly run out of phone battery. The staff here were so lovely and looked after me. Helped charge my phone and gave dog biscuits to my little dog. Thank you so much. Amazing staff!! Plus the drinks, food and atmosphere are always great here!

The fish is fresh and amazing, the salad is fresh and crunch. Everything is wonderful there.

Great pub! Located on the historical place of the medieval gate used for defence of London. A bit too exagerated on some prices... but good value in general and friendly staff!

We went for a Sunday roast. Had the lamb and every bite was wonderful. Full of flavour and a good portion. Our happy place to go too. Friendly staff and really good service. Stop looking at the review and go. Beer garden is the best. Thank you Gatehouse.

Worth to come for Jazz performance night. Guys done really well. Tasty food served. A lot of tables on the terrace. Liked it.

Nice place to have a pint, dog friendly, nice crowd, friendly staff. The food on the pricey side but you don’t go to the pub for food. Always a good place to meet up a friend.

decent! took a bunch of estonians here..food good..drink good...dropped the odd plate..sure..but we were happy! fancy fish n chips all round!

Big pub right on the corner, in Highgate. Food is Spanish themed and so is unique in many ways. Of a very high quality and very creative too, loved all the desserts (we tried many)! The service was pleasant, they were attentive and patient. We had a nice seat outside partially in the sun, they had a huge indoor and decently sized outdoor space. Would visit again but it was priced on the higher end and not the most vegetarian choice/options overall. Not typical pub food but very good overall.

Food is delicious and high quality. I had the vegan option; sweet potato beetroot etc with chickpeas. The sponge pudding and custard was also delicious.We did order a starter to share but it never turned up so was disappointed with this.

Teasing as the outside looks like an old school pub. However upon entering we paid £9 but just a coke and a pint of ale! Outrageous. We were going to eat here but were looking for pub food in a pub not pretentious over priced restaurant food completely out of place in the environment. Very underandable why the place was very quiet.Side note when trying the ales. The Twickenham beer which the barmaid was pushing to me was off suggesting a complete lack of care towards the customers. Obviously this place is all about rinsing peoples wallets. Wont be back. Will be telling my friends. Shame. Under the right ownership this place could do so well.

Saw The Jews of Hollywood at the Gatehouse. Very good show in intimate surroundings. Would definitely return to this venue. Handy having the pub downstairs too.

Nice bar with good food , a theater on top floor to ! That would be great night all enjoyed in the same place , good staff ,good selection of drinks and food plus bar snacks . Little more smile bu staff and all is wonderful

I celebrated my birthday yesterday here and had an absolutely fantastic time. We were supposed to be in the garden but, due to the extremely poor whether, we decided to move inside and the staff was really great to accommodate us. The staff was very helpful and patient (our party also had a few kids, and a dog!), and really made our day.Overall, the pub is really nice, cozy, and informal yet classy. Food and drinks are high quality as well, and prices fair.Finally, shutout to one of the staff there, Martina, who was absolutely fantastic with all of us.

Beautiful local pub, with a lovely back garden, some outside tables in the front, and a theatre on top.The Sunday Roast was very tasty, with the biggest Yorkshire pudding Ive ever seen, but it is a bit pricey.The owner and the staff are great.

great pub! we got some starters of padron peppers, croquetas and Pan con tomato - all delicious. And then we shared the chicken pie which was lovely, definitely recommend!

I dont often visit this pub because I dont really like Spanish food (Im more of a Wetherspoons girlbut we ordered a takeaway Sunday roast recently via Deliveroo (because Covid!and were really impressed. It arrived warm, and well-cooked and it was delicious. It came with all the trimmings, even horse radish and cranberry sauce. Mum and I each chose the kids portion as we both have small appetites and there was plenty - we had trouble finishing it! Also, the packaging was mainly compostable which was good. Definitely recommend!

The food is very good, amazing paella and fish stew. All the staff really nice and great service.

Delicious food with a Spanish slant. Fantastic local pub with a big beer garden offering a wide range of gins. The Gatehouse has also a cosy playhouse upstairs. Definitely not one to be missed.

Great, friendly and efficient staff, much appreciated in these covid times. We booked ahead and sat in the gorgeous garden, great even though there was intermittent sun. Tapas type food was the best example Ive had in Highgate. Drinks a little pricey but not too bad and can be forgiven because of the welcoming vibe and staff diligence, nothing is too much for them.

A fine pub with a large wooden clad interior, spacious windows and high ceilings. The roast is technically well cooked but lacked flavour (we had the beef). The staff were very attentive and service was quick, however paying 20£ for a bland roast was disappointing.

Lots to choose from! All locally sourced ingredients ... quite a large Spanish selection.Our waitress was from Romania and she was very attentive. She was lovely ... she looked after us the whole afternoon/evening. She even got us a bowl for Lilly’s food, water ... even a blanket 😁 x

The food is so nice especially the chunky chips.Very friendly service too.The garden area is a really lovely place to sit & enjoy your food & drink, weather permitting.Will definitely be going back.

Great pub with options for everyone!Outdoor seating space is cute, indoor dinning room is intimate and the bar is rowdy and fun! You can’t go wrong! Food selection was nice - fancier then a typical pub but they do have he classics like fish and chips!

Fabulous pub in the middle of Highgate. Excellent and interesting menu with tasty food. Quality and varied selection of beer on tap and delicious vegan wines. Proper old school wooden lined pub with plenty of nocks and crannies. We ate in the pub section but they also have a dining section. Havent been to the Theatre above but friends have recommended a visit.Update: Went back and tried the tapas - fresh, tasty, top quality food. Lovely garden out the back to soak up the early spring sunshine.

We had a great Sunday lunch here. Nice pub. Quite big but still cosy feeling. Good beer selection. Food was awesome. My mum said the best roast beef she has ever had (and shes had a few!I didnt give it 5 stars only because a little pricey (tho quality is highand wish they could do non duck fat roast potatoes for vegetarians

Lovely old building with a very nice beer garden in the back. The Sunday roast is fantastic and I couldnt recommend it enough. They also offer a variety of Spanish inspired dishes, including paella which is great for sharing. Good selection of beer and very well priced wines available in small and large glasses, carafes, and bottles. It gets very busy on the weekend so I would recommend booking a table in advance if possible.

Very nice gastro pub with friendly staff and excellent food. Its a bit pricey but given the location it wasnt too bad. A very nice secluded, quiet garden area at the back with good table service. Highly recommended.

Id give this place 6 stars if Google would let me. It is theatre from start to finish. Busy when I walked in but all happy. Tremendous staff looking after everyone. A great venue, make sure you call in!
