The Gate Marylebone - Vegetarian restaurant in Sakaraha, Madagascar
What a lovely surprise. We stumbled upon this place not even looking for a vegetarian restaurant, but how lucky we are to have found it. My partner had the best beetroot burger we ever tasted. It did not try to be anything else and it did not need to be. It was perfection. My gnocchi plate was like an artwork beside being tasty as well. Our waitress was very kind and polite and the place is really clean. Would recommend this restaurant to vegetarians and non veggie ppl like us at any day.
Incredible food and lovely wait staff would highly recommend!
Delicious meal, excellent service with incredible vegan options.
Excellent vegan food and atmosphere. The service is super kind.
Aubergine teriyaki - I didnt get what the aubergine component of the dish was-quite tasteless too somehow. The noodles on the side were nice but too little. As a vegetarian I aas disappointed with this mains dish.Mango cheesecake was okay, not great. The cheese itself was a gelatinous texture and the mango thing on top was mango set like jelly. I like cheesecake for the texture as well and not just the taste and this cheesecake didnt check all boxes for me.Service and ambience great!
Very nice and polite staff, nice atmosphere, delicious food, a lot of options to choose from if you’re vegetarian/vegan, small portions though, and high prices considering how small the portions are.
Delicious vegetarian cuisine! I am so happy that I discovered this place. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the menu has great options to choose from and the food is made with attention to detail. The staff were polite too.
We enjoyed the best vegan dinner. Very Friendly staff, awesome experience
Perfect service, and some of the best vegan dishes Ive tried in years.
Lovely meal here. All four of us enjoyed the lunchtime menu. There’s a great deal week time lunch deal there £18 for 2 courses, £21 for 3.
Its beautifully presented dishes that are cooked with excellence and with all fresh ingredients. However its super overpriced and flavours are ridiculously tasteless, relying on heavy sauces such as creams, tahini and miso but the dishes themselves have no any recognisable seasoning. Customer service is great and the restaurant is pleasant.
Very impressive vegan dishes! Clearly high quality ingredients and carefully crafted recipes. And most likely the best vegan tiramisu that Ive ever tasted!
Very nice relaxed lunch. Some great flavour combinations without going overboard and smacking you in the mouth like some places do to make up for other inadequacies. Excellent presentation and good service so 5 stars and a new favourite.

Try ‘The Gate’ next to oxford street. Their focus is one healthy eating. The restaurant had a good atmosphere, definitely a good spot for a romantic evening. The food was delicious and had so much flavour, anyone would enjoy this. You dont have to be veggie. All in all we enjoyed our evening and felt like we had eaten so good food.* We ordered:* A La Carte* Christmas set menu: 2 courses for £28 or 3 courses for £36 (glass of Prosecco included)* Starter: Plantain Fritters* Main: Aubergine Schnitzel, Wellington* Dessert: Sticky Toffee PuddingRatings out of 10:* Taste: 8* Service: 6, the food took ages to come and they seemed short staffed* Price: 6* Presentation: 7
Loved this place. Prob one of my favourites on London.Lovely setting and atmosphere.Great service.Plenty of different options. We had the tartar and courgette for starters and the Katsu, Tortillas and gnocchi for mains. All were really tasty and well presented.Definitely recommend 👌
Very friendly service. Vegetarian. Food looks nice but does not taste that great
Good food, all vegetarian or vegan. Brunch on Sunday about midday. It wasnt crowded. Service was good but perhaps a little slow at the end when the place was a bit busier.
Wow. I am not a vegetarian but if anywhere is going to convert you this place is.The food looked beautiful and tasted better than it looked.
My daughter and Son in law took us for surprise dinner to this place …. We are so happy and contented with food and service … a visit is a must for all … it’s vegetarian too…🙏
Great dishes. Excellent service. Affordable prices.
Amazing place for people who are vegan. Never thought that vegan food would be so diverse and unique in taste. A slight disappointed that the restaurant didnt agree for allowing my friends birthday cake to be cut...that will always remain a disappointment!
Ive visited twice; the first time I had the Thai red curry and it was below average, youre better off going to an authentic Thai restaurant. It lacked any kick and real flavour, the presentation seemed like it was thrown onto the plate and it was just severely lacking. On my second visit I had the beetroot burger and it was incredible, by far the best vegan burger I have tried but for £16 with a serving of salad(had to order extra fries Id expect it to be. I had the tiramisu for desert and it was 5stars though I wish it had more coffee! The staff here are worth 5 stars alone as they are always so friendly and nice but the food is hit and miss.
Cannot praise this place enough! Food was absolutely DELICIOUS! Might have converted some people to vegans! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Very cute atmosphere and staff very kind and helpful.
Extremely nice food. Would come again totally. Everyone from our group liked, even the carnivorous ones. Only problem was that the servings were too small.
Went to The Gate Marylebone on Friday night. Excellent food and excellent service. Although quite busy the service was quick and we were not rushed at all. The beetroot burger was nice, the Dragon Salad was even better but the dish that stole the show for all 4 of us was Miso Aubergine - Out of this world. We were served by various staff members and all of them were very courteous and friendly. The plate sizes were generous and the prices were not too bad. Overall great experience- highly recommended.
The plating or food presentation was nice, although the dishes were not pitch clean. We had to wait one hour for our main dish, which I do not mind if it is worth it. However, the Katsu Curry was disappointing: not crunchy, but rather gummy, as if it had been half-cooked some time ago, and the sauce did not captivate me. The price felt a bit expensive, given the quality and small portion quantity. Overall, it felt like it had potential as a restaurant, but our experience was not good.
Amazing experience. We had 3 starters - olives, miso aubergine and the avocado and beetroot tartare, 2 mains - the red curry and the salad, sweet potatoes and 2 drinks - non alcoholic beer and ginger mocktail. We were 2 people so in the end we realised we ordered too many dishes. The best one was the miso aubergine! Truly unbelievable. Atmosphere was great, the staff very helpful and the location also nice. Would definitely revisit, highly recommended.
Mixed review. I did go with high expectations after reading the other reviews! Atmosphere is beautiful & cozy, service very nice. Overall it was quite loud so one end of the table could not hear the other end.As of April 27, 2022 there is a new menu. [Please bring back the mushroom risotto!] The rye bread appetizer was meh (ok). My carnivore husband thoroughly enjoyed the beetroot burger (thankfully still on the menu). My teen enjoyed the untraditional large pieces of homemade gnocci surrounding a sauce. I ordered the aubergine "Cordon Bleu;" beautiful presentation, but it had an entirely bland crust coating and a very salty/smokey aubergine mixture inside that ruined it for me. Sorry chefs, but I would revamp this one! We did not order desserts but looks like Baileys pie, Chocolate-Orange and Tiramisu options are still available.Note about the Ciders: bottles were served with tall glasses full of ice, so ask ahead if you prefer no ice.The Gate also has another location, and I remain thankful for Veggie restaurants!
Lovely lunch. Very good value for money with the Prosseco menu. The team was attentive and the service excellent. Highly recommend.
Ive been two times, I can say risotto its great and the place is nice but Ive to say there is too much oil or sauces in many dishes. Its not light at all.
Such a discovery! We were in the surroundings and had no booking, we tried another restaurant that had not availability and then tried here. When we took seat we realized that it was a vegetarian restaurant. It fairly exceeded our expectations. All the plates were really tasty and the atmosphere was really nice. Pictures speak by themself. I will definitely recommend it. Good cost-quality relationship.
Amazing place for dinner is plant based menu and you can find multiple optionsWe went for the auberigne and risotto and it went really nice as well the Baylis cake is a perfect option for the dessertStarters kings mushroom really nice as well to be honestDeco and service top quality
I love this place I only become vegan 2 months ago but this restaurant is my go to place I have been to the Hammersmith branch too the food is great in both but this one is nicer bigger. My favourite dishes the truffle Arancini the avocado beetroot starter and the main is mushroom risotto. (I was missing the fresh bread that they offered in Hammersmith and not in hereI have tried the tiramisu and the chocolate orange dessert none of them was my favourite. Tiramisu wasnt sweet enough for me the chocolate was too bitter. But rest of the food is very good and the staff is friendly and quick. We spent around £70 without alcohol just water so it is not a cheap place
We went here after our wedding. We had the entire lower level to ourselves. The food was top notch and the service friendly and attentive. Would love to visit again.
Came here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and both me and my partner were blown away by the amazing food!Such great flavours and beautiful presentation. The service was great as well.
By far one of the best culinaric experiences I had so far in London! Not only is the food super tasty it also looks amazingly. And the staff is very friendly, attentive and competent. Ill come back for sure. Thanks!
Awesome staff! Great vegan food and lovely atmosphere! Strongly recommend. Also love their other restaurants too!
Great vegan food. We took the 3 course meal. Starters were a bit basic - both were simply deep fried. The highlight was the beet burger which I found amazing.
Went here for a birthday meal on a weekday, really nice atmosphere. Elegant but unpretentious inside. Creative food from different cuisines presented in a fine dining style - mix of Italian, Mexican and Middle Eastern dishes. About half the dishes are vegan, including tiramisu, cheesecake and brownie for pudding. The staff seemed happy to work there, which contributes to good vibes.
Loved it! Beetroot and ricotta starter was yummy. Really liked the mushroom rotolo. Not a big fan of the aubergine schnitzel unfortunately. Finished off with a lovely peanut butter brownie. Will go again for sure...This place never disappoints! Another wonderful lunch - this time with our two little ones. Daughter enjoyed the red sauce pasta. We had delicious sweet potato tortilla and beetroot burger finishing off with their tiramisu. Yum
The food I ordered was ok in taste, but nothing extraordinary. I expected a bit more to be honest. As a starter I had the truffle and mushroom arancini, where I missed a dip or at least a kind a vinaigrette coming with the rocket leaves. So the arancini were a bit dry when in my mouth. As a main dish I had a beetroot cheese burger. Fries were not included, so I ordered polenta fries. Both of them came with the same dip, but I culdn‘. figure out what kind. Nevertheless the service was friendly during my visit.
A food heaven! I dont think words can do justice to this place. Its all vegetarian/vegan and every single item on the menu is an explosion of flavour. Although the dessert was underwhelming compared to the rest of the food, all the starters and mains are worth the price. This is definitely going to be my current favourite vegetarian restaurant in London.
We ate here 2 years ago and I could only give the restaurant 2 stars. We returned last night and to my surprise, the food had greatly improved! It was very tasty, properly cooked, vegetarian and vegan cuisine. I can definitely recommend this restaurant now - 4 stars!Previous Review - from 2 years ago:Unfortunately, the food is obviously not freshly made at order. It tasted like it was made hours in advance, warmed in a microwave and then served lukewarm. Taste wise, the food is good, well plated and pretty but for the price (80 quid for 2 peopleyou would expect food made to order. Also, we belive the food is made with out herbs - just salt and pepper - not bland just not very distintive. The service is very good. But one should expect more as this is a restaurant not a buffet.
Loved it. Service is superb and the the food is even better. One of the best vegan restaurants in London. I can recommend the dragon salad and mushroom risotto. Oh and dont leave without trying the vegan tiramiso.
Had lunch with my vegetarian friend on a Friday at lunch time. We enjoy the food so much, everything was truly great. We order the prosecco menu, having a glass each and three courses so we could try different things.During the day we couldnt stop talking about how good it was. Will definitely be back.
I visited for lunch this week and had a lovely meal. They have nice seating available outside. The food was delicious, I had the Tortillas. The service was a bit slow and they had some issues with their ordering system - I think just working through reopening issues since theyve only recently opened again.
We went here with a Timeout voucher for 3 courses and a glass of prosecco. The waiter was warm but unfortunately forgot to bring us out any water after we asked, which had us finishing the prosecco pretty quickly! The meals themselves were not very large but were quite tasty. There wasnt anything that particularly blew me away except the creaminess of the courgette flower starter. The atmosphere was relaxed in a good way. Nice enough evening but probably wouldnt rush to dine here again.
My boyfriend took me here for valentines weekend as a surprise. Everything on the menu was vegetarian which was a lovely surprise as he is a meat eater. The service was fantastic and were very helpful helping us decide between dishes. To my surprise Travis also loved his orders as it was a menu he wouldnt normally choose from. The food was delicious and very fresh, thoroughly enjoyed everything and couldnt fault the place. The cocktails are also very yummy! Would recommend and definitely return again.
After hearing so much about this place, I have to say I expected more. It was a slightly disappointing experience. Risotto looked great but super salty, wrap, tofu starter and courgette flower were fairly good. Food was decent and well presented but think this was overshadowed by the service, which wasn’t great, and they kept forgetting what we ordered and bringing us different dishes. Not all it’s cracked up to be for the price it is
One of the best places for vegan food. Most of the menu is vegan. I actually had my wedding lunch here so you know i am a big fan! All my guests enjoyed the food a lot (most of them were not vegetarian). We had the tortillas and the mushroom risotto cake. As well as the brownie and the mango cheesecake. Everything was absolutely delicious and filling. The desserts are amazing! All the portion sizes were great. The staff are lovely too. Definitely check it out. vegan or not!
