The Gas Lantern Drinking Company - Bar in Boise, United States
Cute place with pleasant atmosphere. Good selection of craft cocktails, beer & wine. Didnt see a food menu other than the few items listed on the drinks menu. Good service, even though the bartender was slammed.
Great location, craft drinks, and service was very friendly.
Very poor service. Waited a very long time for drinks. Couple who arrived and ordered after us got their drinks. Not impressed. Many other places in Boise.
Very cool vibe, staff are great!
It was a fun place to be. Drinks were good and we loved the live music. Atmosphere was very inviting. Staff was great
Delicious cocktails in a nice, yet casual atmosphere
We stopped by for post dinner drinks and we are so glad we did! Very casual yet classy bar with couches for lounging and a pool table we took advantage of! The drinks were cool and highly recommended stopping by for the the atmosphere.
Just had a birthday gathering here on Wednesday and everything was great. The drinks were amazing and the mac and cheese balls were delicious. Cozy and laid back atmosphere and friendly staff.
Really cool atmosphere and location. Had one of the best drinks Ive ever had called "On The Hunt" Definitely would go back again.
One of my favorite places to meet friends. I miss their Southern Oracle, but love that the bartenders always have great recommendations.
We randomly stopped here on our way out of the park labor day weekend and ended up having a great time with the bartender exchanging drink recipes and favorites. Nice place. Great whiskey selection and craft cocktail list.
I am always impressed with the drinks at the Gas Lantern, Its my favorite place to recommend friends visit for a cocktail. This is in my top 3 places in Boise to stop in for a drink. Fully recommend you stop and try them!
Great tasting high quality drinks. These were the best cocktails that I have had since moving to Idaho 25 years ago.
Very comfortable atmosphere, unique cocktails, and they will smoke any cocktail you like. Love it here!
The drinks are unique and the atmosphere is awesome, but the alcohol content is quite light. This is the kind of place you go for a quiet drink in a dark and leather interior reaching for a speakeasy aesthetic. I would give it five stars, but the four times Ive gone so far, the beer has been the only drink not overhyped and under-liquored, and with drinks ranging from $10-15, I am hesitant to recommend this place. There are two conditions I would recommend this place: (1If youd like a good stout on nitro, watch their rotation for a bourbon barrel aged stout. They are quite generous with their portions and pour a proper head. In this, they excel. (2Or, if you want a fun, light cocktail (equivalent to ~1/2 a regular beerwith unique flavor and dont care about the price, this place is good for it.
We like the intimate atmosphere here. The bartenders are flexible and can make some great drinks.
Kind waiters/waitresses & great atmosphere but bland & tasteless food. Subpar elk burger with nothing exciting or distinct about it, it needs something else added to complement the flavor (only came away with a taste of cooked elk that was all& a very bland side of fries with a cardboard like order of pretzels.
The sazerac was well-balanced and tasty! I can appreciate a hand crafted drink and Gas Lantern delivered. The burger was also flavorful and priced right.
Food is awesome cocktails are the best around! Really enjoyed this place and will definitely be back!
Fantastic drinks with great atmosphere! I love when you can tell the bartender a few ingredients you like and they whip up the perfect drink for you! I recently had a mezcal/jalapeno combo and it was excellent. Drinks are reasonably priced and the food is pretty good. They have a good selection of dishes you can share.
The wife loves this place so she dragged me down. Great drinks. Fun atmosphere. Cant wait for them to open again.
Gas may be my new favorite casual bar. Its a great place to just grab a drink and relax with friends, a little bougie, but in the best way.
Great Smoky drink. Great meringue drink. We had a lot of fun there chilling on the couch and playing pool last night. Great bar tenders! Well done.
My mom and I came here last night and it was not a good experience. There were probably 6 bartenders and we were 1/2 booths sitting in there. No one came to take our order for at least 15 minutes. When they did take our order one of the drinks came back with missing components, when asked where it was the response was that they havent had that item for nearly two months....well then why is it still on the menu?! The second drink we ordered came back with a moldy orange and the bartenders debated on how moldy the orange really was. For a cocktail bar, these bartenders seemed to have no clue what they are doing.
Unique cocktails and even better atmosphere. The whiskey based cocktail truly stand out. There other offerings are also delicious and creative.
Great drinks and environment. Its never super busy and the cocktails are always fresh and delicious. There is a food truck there with really good jalapeno eggrolls.
The Gas Lantern is a nice prohibition vibe speakeasy that makes alot of really decent elevated cocktails. The decor is modern and definitely appeals to the younger hipper crowds of boise. Plus next door they have the Smoke and Thyme (ran by the same peoplefood truck if you ever get a hankering for some snacks to go with your drank. Oh and they got a pool table and couple of Chesterfield sofas and arm chairs. Definitely take a dinner date here to impress them with how sophisticated you are before you spoil it when you open your gab during dinner after having too many bowls of loud mouth soup (aka cocktailslater on in the night. Theyll remember sober you picked a nice joint that theyll want to take their next date to when they dump you 😉.
Both this place and their cocktails are so beautiful! The bartenders were on point and we were all very impressed by the service in addition to the quality of the drinks.
Great drinks! However, I have never had such horrible service in Boise! Our group had to retell the server many times what we ordered and it took forever. The waitress seemed annoyed when we would reminder her about our drink orders... probably won’t be going back
Great place, fun cocktails. Bartender was SO SLOW and we were literally the only people there. Not friendly service, but nice atmosphere and drinks.
You cannot find better cocktails anywhere in Boise. Great service, great food, and an atmosphere that makes you want to make this place your regular spot.
This place has some good cocktails and quick service. The food is delicious, but it comes from a food truck owned and operated by another company. Keep that in mind before you give these folks a hard time about food wait times.
This place is amazing and I love their Smokey rum drink. It smells amazing in there. Best salmon tacos Ive ever had.
Great drinks and atmosphere, but service ruined the experience. Went in for Happy Hour on a Friday and the bartender was super unfriendly, borderline rude. Moved to a table and the service was slow and inattentive. I had to go up to the bar to order my next drink before Happy Hour ended because I could not get the servers attention.
Good craft cocktails and atmosphere. Really warm and cozy. Chicken wings very good.
Good ambiance. Bartender greeted us right away. Shr was the only bartender on duty and it was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening. She made conversation with us, took our drink and food order very quickly. The cocktails had strange names but very good. The food was good. Generous portions for an appetizer, cheese and bacon fries, veey delicious, but it took longer than expected to get our food.We will definitely go back
It was essentially just my wife and I in the bar so we got some good attention. Our server was super friendly and the bar tender had some epic tunes on. The food was great bar food. And the cocktails were super interesting. Would go back.
We came here on a Saturday, and we biked 5 miles to get here. We came here for one reason. Their specific smoked whiskey drink. They take a good mixed whiskey drink and they smoke it in front of you. We ordered the same drink only to find out that post it being served that the smoker was broken. The drink tasted nothing like it had before. Yet still the charge was 10.00. Giving this a one star only because we voiced our opinion and the service did not care. Other than that I love this place when the smoker is working, the flavor it adds is amazing.
This place is neat! Friendly staff and the drinks are amazing!!!! I will definitely go back for another night out with friends. I recommend checking it out. Impress a date, bring them here.
Love the atmosphere and the staff is friendly and engaging. The beer isnt bad either. Nice location in the heart of downtown Boise.
The Gas Lantern is a very different bar than Im used to, but in a good way. It was very laid back and relaxing when I went, which was nice. The drinks they offer are all very different than any other drinks I have seen before, definitely some very cool ones that Ill have to try next time Im in town. Our hostess was also very attentive and polite!
Okay. This isnt a picture of one of their magnificant cocktails, because as cocktails go, these are right up there with the kind of cocktails youd rave about in New York at the hippest new speakeasy, minus the pricetag. The two page paper cocktail menu has bourbon (whiskydrinks, tequila, vodka and gin drinks with the bulk of the drinks falling into the bourbon (whiskycategory. Dont be afraid, they are perfectly crafted and the fact that there arent any uber trendy cocktails on the menu is refreshing. (If you want a Moscow Mule or vodka soda, go somewhere else like Bardonnay where they cater to that crowd). I digress. The ambiance is somewhere between modern meets Westworld meets subterranean lounge colliding with a bar in one of Robert Rodriguez films. The Mexican tilework next to the cowboy leather round bar stools are a sleek place to sit and imbibe. The curved front of Gas Lantern is all glass and even if you sit inside, its breezy and light. Theres also a very sexy pool table smack dab in the middle of the room. Need anymore? No, no you dont. Boise got lucky with Gas Lantern.
Man, what a couple of pretentious bartenders. Dropped in on a Friday night (not busyand the skinny guy that doesn’t smile and thought his delivery garnered attention, and the balding guy in the plaid button up couldn’t have been more annoyed to take a basic order. If your trying to attract new clientele to your place, maybe focus on customer service. We left after our first drink.
After a Yelp event at the Ballet Idaho, my yelpies Yulia Chanda, and I decided to go out for drinks and chit-chat. People at the event were talking about the lantern and since Ive never been I thought it would be fun. With the three friends in agreement, we went and had drinks and some snacks. The drinks were top of the line. They have a drink menu and the drinks are funky and fun. The smoked my drink, per my request, but I didnt taste a difference in it.We also ordered some apps-- two fries and a pretzel. My pretzel was hard and not impressive, but the pork belly fries were pretty good.
Great drinks, try their cold smoked cocktails, amazing. Not much of a crowd though, so i guess its a good place to grab a quite drink with friends, or get lost in your own thoughts :). Very friendly staff.
My friend and i were here a minute ago. The drinks were all right but thats about it! After waiting more than 30 minutes for couple of simple cheese, fruit and nuts plates, we were served in a plastic lid and the snack was missing nuts. After telling the owner, Gabin, they didnt even take the responsibility of their food and said it is not a big deal!!! We were fully charged! I wish I could upload the pic of the lid here!
We went to this place tonight and it was the worst experience Ive ever had. The waiters were so rude to us. They served the balsamic vinegar in a lid instead of a bowl. They did not bring the food we ordered. Not only they did not provide us a refund, but also they responded in a very rude way. Do not waste your time and money in this place. Their business needs to be closed....
Drinks are very unique. Live music some nights. Order yummy bites from the food truck in the alley. Suggest the maple bacon nuts and or the pretzel. Tacos were also enjoyed. Close to downtown and BSU.
A very nice bar. A little spendy but very comfy. Quiet, and cozy with ridiculously comfy seating.Theres a bit of an odd odor that smells a bit like wood smoke. I didnt mind it but its very heavy and a friend with me disliked it.The beer menu is... Pointless? They placed it on the table and of the 10nornso beers listed they had 2. The wait staff was on their game though and ran us through what was ACTUALLY on tap. Those two quibbles are minor but things they could address to get that 5th star! I will most certainly go back though!
Great selection of unique and inventive craft cocktails to choose from. Fresh herbs and house made mixers give their drinks a freshness and depth of flavor hard to find in Boise. The interior has a really cool modern steampunk vibe thats very inviting and comfortable. Definitely a place to check out!
