Menu seemed to have limited options and lighter snacks which is available was not promoted. Would be good if breakfast or some of these options extended into the lunch menu to ensure more vegetarian options.

A lovely spot for some cake and coffee. The outside area is decently shaded and the chairs are comfortable. I enjoyed both the cake and coffee I ordered. They also have a wide variety of cakes to choose from. The staff are all friendly and service was quick.

I have coming to this tranquil peace of heaven for many years. Over the years it has improved but nothing drastic or too modern. The food is very good, I have tried most of their dishes including Sushi. On a warm sunny day, you can sit under huge trees with friends or family to enjoy these tasty meals.

Being generous with 2 stars.I love my eggs Benedict but cant eat creamed spinach, really dont think Im asking alot to not add the cream spinach.To flat out be told they wont do it was a bit of a shock.

Beautiful setting under old oak trees and lovely food. Great for meeting over breakfast or for a cup of tea and something sweet to eat.

What a little gem in busy southern suburbs newlands. Forestry environment.. lovely outdoor seating and small children playing ground.Manu simple and easy, served quick after took order..After eating, nice to spare some time to walking around, theres ceramic studio, art shop, fresh vegetables store.

An idyllic outdoor setting under ancient trees. The menu is varied and interesting and the food lives up to expectations. The venue is vibes and bustling and very popular.

One of my absolute favourites! For the 9 years Ive been here in Cape Town, this has definitely been one of my standard favourite spots. The setting and location is so beautiful... service is so friendly and the quality of food has been consistent over the years. Their eggs benny is definitely one of my favourites but Ive also enjoyed many other dishes on their menu. They have a lovely selection of freshly baked good but also jams and preserves that are homemade and delicious.

Hands down the best eggs Benedict I have ever eaten (with bacon). Coffee is excellent. Thank you to waiter Daniel.

I had lunch here again last week and felt the need to commend the team-delicious food (chicken pie in melt-my-heart butter pastry), friendly service and a warm ambience. Its consistent-the team and the food; this place just works and its wonderful to witness that; especially since it has been around for so long. Thank you.

I enjoyed my coffee there (10/10). Our group ordered the burger, sushi and chips. The burger was disappointing (1/10), it was dry and was honestly "love free". The chips were also disappointing, they came with a hint of old fish which suggested the oil had not been changed for a while. The sushi was also disappointing, while it was well presented, it was pretty average and I guess, for me, what was the worst, it was not made from actual "sushi rice".Service was good.

Great food, great service but would recommend booking on weekends because it is quite busy!

Lovely place and really nice food! Our waiter was friendly and the garden was so pretty.It was super busy when we went but they made it work for us and found a table. I do suggest booking in advance because of this.

Unfortunately, we did not eat there. We took a drive into the venue and had a look around. I must admit, the environment is a beautiful and cosy place with several shops to pop into-even if you do not end up purchasing anything. The nursery provides many options if you are a gardener.

Lovely setting, variety of choices on the menu & good-looking plates of food, but there’s a lot of room for improvement. Expect slow service & order turnaround. Albeit it is winter, my latte arrived luke warm, after waiting 20 minutes, and my scrambled egg croissant wasn’t the warmest either.

Great place to enjoy a bite to eat while soaking up nature. Food is always on point and prices are fair. Children have a small play area with play things carved from old trees. When you are done dont just leave. Go explore the artisan shops, peaceful walk on the wooden walkway. Great hidden gem 💎

The venue is amazing. The coffee and food is spectacular. Daniel, our waiter was just so friendly and positive and professional. I will come back again because of him. What a great experience he gave us. You have a gem in Daniel.

Had a family breakfast the whole experience surrounded by nature was amazing... The food was tasty without being pretentious. The only thing I do differently is the hot drinks, they need to be hotter. Other than that great moments.we ate at the picnic café deli.

Can we just talk about the food for a second! It was amazing, I had a chicken puff pastry dish, arguably the best chicken Ive ever had.The service is good and you dont wait too long for your drinks and food, and they are also pet friendly (outside).Would go back and recommend this place anytime

Hello there,This was a random surprise. A nice place to chill. We came here after a hike from the New-lands forest.Although not many tables, the place was neat and comfy. There is also board games for you to play, so try not to be on your phone.Definitely a place you must visit. However, their coffee isn’t the strongest. Maybe I was just too tired 😂But enjoy it!

Great service and loved the ambience. First time trying eggs benedict and the bacon eggs benedict just set the bar for any future choices🤩. My sister also loved the venue for her birthday.

The food was absolutely delicious. It was my first time there and we had breakfast. It was not too busy when we got there but filled up quickly and got really busy as the food is delicious and the setting is gorgeous. I am definitely taking my mom there soon as I think she would love it.

Very beautiful setting hidden amongst tall trees. The bird life was incredible with a huge variety of bird coming very close. The baked cheesecake was rich and tasty with a side of ice cream. I recommend checking it out.

What an amazing experience I had at this place about 2 weeks ago. We first took a detour in the garden and captured these beautiful pics (one included). With their omelets I was so glad they had the vegetarian omelet for my partner. Nice variety of cakes as well (theres more inside than on the menu 😉😋Amazing staff! 🥺😍😍

Lovely outdoor setting with fresh delicious food, gluten-free and vegan options, and very friendly staff. You can request for your burger to be made bun-free or if you are vegan, enjoy a vegan burger made with delicious grains. You can also get a bagel, some curry, chicken pie... all freshly made. It can get busy so book a table ahead!

A great little brunch spot found in the heart of leafy Newlands. Sit outside under the trees and enjoy a home style breakfast. The baked goods on display looked amazing and the service was great. Dont forget to take a stroll through the quaint nursery just adjacent for some more greenery

The place Ive been going during lockdown to get my weekly treat and they are so worth it. Any of their baked goods are amazing and you will not be disappointed with anything you choose.Its also nice to get some real coffee out of the house.Thank you for keeping me sane.

The Gardeners Cottage Restaurant is a great spot for lunch. They serve breakfast too, have coffee and cakes. Theres plenty of outdoor seating and I would recommend phoning ahead to make a lunch reservation. The food is always delicious.

What a hidden gem. The wood carving is the best among so many different artists. The cafe is also very impressive, the chai latte is very smooth

Intimate with lovely setting, great food and good coffee. Quaint little coffee shop which offers very fresh food, salads and home bakes. Staff professional and friendly. Also lovely to wonder into the little stores, to explore the eco village if one has time. Ordered the spinach, pepper quiche; salad bowl and chocolate brownie. All delicious!

This restaurant is true to its name as you feel like you are dining at a cottage in a big garden. There is an inside seating area (but it can get a bit crampedas well as a outside area where you can relax under the beautiful trees. We visited them for breakfast and decided to sit outside as it was so beautiful, and although it was a bit chilly they did have blankets to keep us warm. The coffee and food was very tasty and beautifully presented, and our waiters were courteous and friendly. On the property there are other businesses as well including a curio shop and nursery where you can browse before or after going to the restaurant. They would also be a good choice during summer as the trees will provide shade to keep you nice and cool.

Lovely selection of yummy cakes and extensive breakfast and lunch menu available. Good idea to reserve your table to avoid disappointment as it is a popular restaurant. Plenty of off-street parking. Service is very friendly but sometimes not the fastest, especially when busy.

Good food and good value! We enjoyed a casual Sunday lunch for 7 and the food & service was excellent! Even though it was busy, our meals were delivered timeously and beautifully set out and were delicious.We shared 4 dessert cakes- I would go back just for afternoon tea and cake!!The symmetry cordial with sparkling water was cute, in a small flask on a little tray! :-)And the red cappuccino was so tasty, especially with some added honey.

The atmosphere, the music, the vibe is all so great with that the food and the service is amazing. Who doesnt love getting a complimentary bread basket while you wait for your food. You will leave this place not only with a full satisfied stomach but a happy face and heart. The outdoor seating seems part of a fantasy book with trees surrounding you while you dine. The nursery is also well kept with a lot of variety available. If you are a vegetarian dont hesitate to give this place a chance, their vegetarian dishes are amazing.
