The Garden Room - Restaurant in Dublin, Ireland
Upscale but relaxed ambience. Professional and friendly service. Excellent food. Highly recommended.
Fabulous location, great service and food verging on the sublime. The dessert was full of flavour and had the sort of texture that chefs spend years trying to achieve....
Great!
Fabulous dining experience with excellent food!
While the staff was kind and quite attentive, the portion sizes, especially when it came to the starters, left a lot to be desired. The meat quality was unacceptable for a restaurant of this price range.
Stunning meal and great service. Great evening spent in an absolutely great location.
This was not a good experience. Food just ok, staff untrained and managers dont handle feedback very well.
Fantastic evening in the garden room with my husband. Food was spectacular , staff are incredible (Adii, Fiona and Mama Julie!!!!). Great wine list
Nice setting, good food. Service was less than a 5 star experience.
Amazing food and even better service. It was one of the best restaurants we visited in Ireland.I highly recommend it to other people.
Very disappointed in this restaurant. Food very average, staff were pleasant but seemed to lack experience. Opened the menus to find if smeared with dried food. Prawn starter was completely tasteless, pheasant for main course was cold when it arrived at the table.
Superb experience last night in The Garden Room, simply perfect service and delicious food, front of house were superb and the kitchen faultless, well done you guys.
Nice food even nicer staff
This place was amazing! My family and I can here to celebrate my birthday and our server , a really lovely red haired girl named Laura I believe , went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible . We couldn’t have been happier. She is a credit to this place :)
Nice setting, particularly if nice weather. Food was OK. Nothing special. Service very average. Got the bill and was half what it should be. Was correct and over corrected. All just takes away from the experience. Disappointing. Ended on a low.
I didn’t feel safe eating in this restaurant and ended up sitting in a mask while waiting for the meal. Waiters wearing ill fitting visors (not covering lower part of face), no face masks at all & breathing over diners while taking orders/serving. Restaurant far too busy with insufficient distance between tables and no evidence of steps taken to adjust table settings, places set right next to each other. We had to ask for another table to be joined to ours so we weren’t right beside each other and to ask for hand sanitiser. No effort to use a one way system, so everyone walking by close to each other. No problem if you aren’t worried about the covid risks but, if you are, you won’t find much care taken here. The attitude of staff and the restaurant manager was far too cavalier. Playing lip service to covid safety rather than setting high standards to protect and reassure diners - as one might expect from a restaurant/hotel of this calibre. Very disappointing, a horrible experience and wouldn’t go back.
Beautiful, tranquil, restaurant. Staff helpful and polite. Good choice of menu.
Lovely atmosphere, great service, very good food.
Stunning
What can I say, its the merrion first class food and the best staff and service in Ireland..
Great food ...service.....atmosphere
Great service, food was to die for, I had turkey and ham and peacan pie for dessert. The mini chocolate s were amazing too
Stunning.
Food and service was amazing
Great service, outdated Food. Chef needs to go and try other restaurants as his food is from 90s. It was great back in a day but now its hard to understand what he is trying to say with it. Server was amazing. She knew everything about food. Cant get this service anymore. So thank you very much for it. Wine selection very impressive.
Lovely comfortable setting, excellent attentive staff, unique and well thought-out vegan and vegetarian options
This the restaurant in the Merrion hotel, open for lunch and dinner
Excellent food, very attentive waiting staff.
The restaurant is set in beautiful surroundings, the service was very good and the staff were pleasant. Unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. It was extremely disappointing and completely underwhelming, I will not be returning.
One of the best hotels in Dublin but not one of the best restaurants. Poor service is never excusable. Menu okay but quality was.not as you would expect at this venue or for the price charged.
Food was Poor for a good hotel. My wife should have stated little fish in the meal of fish and chips all batter. My chicken was just ok. Not very tasty. Over all poor. Robert and Ailish.
Quiet. Lovely service. A hidden gem. The garden is beautiful and the food is lovely for a light lunch. Many veggie and vegan options too!
Beautiful views of their garden and water features
I have been a very frequent visitor to Patrick Guilbaud over the years so was excited to try The Garden Room at the Merrion Hotel. The Pros:- Ambience is excellent and decor is stunning- Staff are pleasant, be it somewhat inattentiveCons:- The menu lacks any inspiration and the food is extremely overpriced for what it is. The prices are close to those of Patrick Guilbaud (for example The Black Sole is €44), however the quality of food is closer to banquet catering.- My main was absolutely inedible - as seen from the photo the lamb was incredibly tough, chewy and almost impossible to cut. It was both a terrible cut of lamb and cooked by a novice chef. The fact that this piece of meat cleared the chef to get in front of a customer at this level of a restaurant is unforgivable.- The staff although pleasant, are incredibly inattentive. Again, even though I went during a Sunday when it wasnt busy it took almost 15 mins to be able to get a member of staffs attention to explain to them that my meat was inedible. I would expect staff to have come by a short time after our dishes were served to ask if everything was ok, rather than having to try and constantly signal them. Thus this made any form of remedy on my food impossible, as my family had already nearly finished their mains. There are too many reason as to why I would never return, amongst those the fact that everybody at my table was unimpressed by their dishes.
Lovely place great food and lovely staff
We had our anniversary lunch there, it was really good. It has a brand new vegan menu now, and full menu all day long. The starters are around €13,14, main courses are around€30-33, and desserts are 13-15. We went on a beautiful day, the garden looked gorgeous, really enjoyed it while having lovely food on. We will choose this place for special occasions again!
We were delighted with the ambiance and charming staff, many thanks
Really nice setting for lunch. Not cheap and probably over priced but youre paying for the location and the name as well as the food.Positives were the service and the Pork main was delicious.Negatives were the Tuna steak being overcooked and it was meant to come with scallops which never appeared.
We visited the Merrion’s revamped restaurant a year ago- the food was still good, although a little off their previous best. This hotel is still my favourite in the world though- so definitely worth a visit.
The ambiance and the environment is lovely and classy. Overall We had a great time. The restaurant has huge windows overlooking the inner garden and fountains part of Merrion Hotel (which is one of the best hotels in Dublin). The service is good and friendly. The hallway leading to the restaurant has fantastic art.On the downside: isome of the cutlery and glasses were not clean and didn’t smell fresh. iithe food is below expectation.
We visited today for lunch. Unfortunately i was a little disappointed. I was really looking forward to my tuna loin with scallops which instead of being cooked medium rare was overdone. Not good for tuna and a rookie error for somewhere like the Merrion. As luck would have it, when it was served there was no one around to send it back. And the scallops never made it to the plate. Positives were the delicious starter which was a Parma ham with toasted sourdough, excellent wine selection and beautiful setting.
Great food, excellent waitress and super atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant lovely food and the staff were so helpful and friendly
Good food and attentive staff
An amazing experience, the staff are brilliant, the food is great and the gardens are unlike anywhere else in the city. Must visit!
We had an excellent full Irish breakfast here. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The attention to detail here really makes the experience, even the raspberry jam is custom made and delicious.
We loved The Garden Room at The Merrion and have already told friends this place is a MUST VISIT!Interesting menu/great staff with immaculate uniforms/relaxed atmosphere all added to a great evening out!I think I had the nicest veal I have ever tasted and the accompaning sides were delicious! The chocolate fondant was superb and so worth waiting for!We had an Argentinian red-pricey but excellent! We would compare this place to Chapther 1/Dylan McGrath restaurants or any of the fine dining properties in Dublin!Loved the decor! We very much look forward to returning soon!Well done!
