The Galphay Inn - Inn in Ripon, United Kingdom
Great manager. Very friendly local patrons...
There is a good vegetarian menu as well as good quality pub food at a reasonable price. The service was excellent. A friendly place
Excellent food and friendly service, perfect!
Absolutely fabulous. Couldnt fault the food or service.
Sunday lunch at the Galphay Inn...brilliant! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere, delicious food..huge portions. Historic inn set in an absolutely delightful village. Looking forward to our next visit.
Always a good welcome here, lovely staff, great food, beautiful location what more can you ask!
We just had Sunday lunch here, it was a first visit for us, but so deliciously good we have re- booked!😊
Looked at the website and decided to book for a dinner at the Galphay Inn as we are on a double birthday break away.Menu and photos on website looked great.Arrived and were told the menu had been changed earlier today and some items werent on the menu any more(Steak and ale pie , chicken and ham piemy 1st and 2nd choices , decided on lamb shank became sold out during our visit. Opted for the Duck in a Port and Cherry sauce sounded sweet but would do as we had travelled a distance to eat.It arrived and one mouthful was enough. Mouth was on fire , chef said it was made with 5 spice and chilli this was NOT in the description and NOT something I would have ordered. Wife ate her dinner we paid (minus my mealand left.Owner too busy to come over , not an apology from anyone..Dreadful experience and certainly wont recommend ...
Superb food at a reasonable price. Second visit as good as the first, will visit again.
A great, very friendly pub. The food was delicious, certainly a step up on the usual pub fair, and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit if you are staying nearby.
We had Sunday lunch here today. It was fantastic! Both the roast pork and beef were delicious, as were the trimmings. The hospitality and service were brilliant., and very reasonably priced, the terrace at the back was pretty, with lots of shaded areas for our black lab.Speaking of dogs......when we got back to the car, there was a used dog poo bag at the side! Who ever did this should be ashamed of themselves!!!!! Disgusting!!!Jayne, Terry and Alfie
The food and service was excellent here, I cant wait to come back.
Fabulous pub great food, belly pork highly recommended. Friendly staff and good service.
Had Sunday lunch here. Excellent ale on tap, service faultless, prices competitive. Well worth a visit.
Love this place..great portions, friendly staff, amazing outdoor seating, only quibble is that is says triple cooked chips..when they are clearly mcains or similar brand thick cut..not quite the same..
Excellent food (had fish n chipsand very accommodating :)Beer selection could have been greater but lovely service none the less
Beautiful food. Great pub.
Great little country pub with a lovely beer garden.Staff, food, beer amazing and the locals are really nice people.
Good food, reasonably priced. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Cosy too.
Stopped here while visiting the area, great food and even better desserts!

Great Sunday Lunch - lovely food & service 5*
I do like this pub & always visit when in the area. The staff know what they are doing, are helpful & pleased to see you! The food is excellent supported by a good selection of drinks & a cosy interior or a nice outside area.
Absolutely excellent we met some friends there on the Thursday night steak night which was outstanding value and included a carafe of good merlot in the price a very good meal in a very good local pub we will definitely come here again. 10/10 Superb 🍺
Had a cracking meal here ... Good price, nice beer ... Lovely village pub
Smart interior with decent food, nice beer and friendly folks behind the bar. Highly recommended.
Excellent Sunday lunch in very pleasant surroundings. Friendly service and a good pint of Theakstons.

Fantastic food .we have been a few times for Sunday lunch and cannot fault itHighly recommend it
Great meal on steak night. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed ourselves so much we have booked again for tomorrow night.
Great food, but the outside area needs a good cleaning, spider webs all over and debris from surrounding bushes and trees
Lovely place, the food was good and staff super friendly.
Well thats a bloody good pub. Bit of a drive from the main road but worth it. Great new beer terrace.
Excellent vegan food provided at short notice and such an enjoyable experience all round ie friendly atmosphere, relaxing environment..great for our first pub visit in a long while. 👍
Absolutely lovely place, friendly, exceptionally clean and organised during these concerning times. Lush food, nice pint, reasonable price and highly recommend.
Delicious food, amazing service, and such a warm atmosphere. Dogs made very welcome too! Wonderful evening.
A very pleasant lunch. Good food; pleasant staff and pleasant surroundings in a lovely little village. Cant think why we havent been before.🤗
Very nice Sunday lunch in a pretty and quiet village pub. Friendly staff. Very tasty food and handy if youre coming from Fountains Abbey. Great!
They may look after the locals, but not so much the visitors!!Giving us a very short measured pint at the end of the barrel, but still charged us full price. We then tasted it but had to give it back as it wasnt good, and get our money back. We were hoping to eat there, but sadly changed our mind after the way we were served....
What a great find, went on steak night, make sure you book as it popular. The food was fantastic the service second to none. I really enjoyed my visit and if in this part of the world again I will be back.
Nice drinks. Went 4.30 on Sunday. Ordered chips and nachos with dips from lite bites menu. Not all chips cooked and no dip came with it. Nachos very basic stingy on cheap cheese, dips dreadful runny sour cream. When we mentioned this the lady serving just argued with us.. "we make our own sour cream" etc etc
Arrived with family members to celebrate my father-in-laws 88th birthday. Whilst main courses were good to be told, when trying to order dessert, that none was available was a shocker.Having a small menu suits us well but only works if you can offer what is on it.Poor show!
OK what we had but they dont do traditional Sunday Roast. Staff are good menu was varied. Nice meal.
Had a fantastic meal here over the weekend with excellent and cheerful service. Good range of beers and lagers. Staff really friendly and very professional both in approach and service. Lively locals with good banter and very friendly to visitors sharing in depth knowledge of local attractions. Children and dogs very welcome. Great roof terrace with lovely views. Certainly will recommend to all my friends
A very enjoyable visit and delicious food. The landlady and the young man who served us were very courteous and made us feel welcome.Good food, good portions and fair prices, we would recommend it.
Called today and received the usual warm welcome (even our little Cockerpoo was made extremely welcome!!.Had a tasty well cooked lunch in gorgeous surroundings. ( one draw back!! It wasnt quite cold enough for the log fire to be lit 😊)Would have loved to be still in the area to book the Friday fish night special!! Sounds delicious!!Cant wait to return on our next visit !!
Went here midsummer time, for a summer BBQ and meal, with a dinner club. Had the Champagne reception outside at the back of the pub. Then we went in for the meal. Good traditional English food. Service very good and food good also. Lovely place to meet in Summer.I was told the village has the largest concentration of University lecturers living in it, in England! Its an odd place to get to from the south. You have to pass MOD tank driving property and a mobile home camp where lots of Germans spend their summer!
Set in an interesting rural area. The Inn is easy to find and has good parking and somewhere to tether your horses.Black Sheep beer in good order at the time of our visit. Public bar came with cohort of cheery and welcoming locals.Varied menu at fair prices with particularly cheerful staff.I look forward to my next visit.
