Family-run French restaurant with wine pairings and a tasting menu, also offering cookery classes.
Really delicious and good food. We always do the tasting menu as it is greay value for money. They are strong in meat and sea food courses. The vegetarian courses could be a bit better but overall, great food, service and environment.
A nice hidden gem in Surbiton! Venue is very nice and comfy. We went for the tasting menu for lunch and it was mind-blowing! One of the best restaurants I’ve been to! From starter to dessert everything was perfect! The cod and sea bream was cooked perfectly. Customer service was great also. Price was decent for a fine dining experience. Highly recommended! Would definitely come here again for dinner. This is a very busy restaurant so if you want a table I’d suggest you book a table in advance to avoid disappointment.
Courses were nice but quite small, it has got an expensive menu but I would say it is worth it! The service was good but slightly slow. Loved the dessert it as it literally melts in your mouth. Cant really fault it to be honest. The whole bill came upto around £600 between 5 of us so its a little tip if you want to try this place to take in mind that it is not going to be a cheap eat.
Food never fails to impress at this local fancy restaurant. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was a great experience. Staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Overall a good dining experience
So delicious and so reasonably priced! We had lunch tasting menu and we love the dishes. Love our mocktails too. The only thing which can be improved is the tenderness of the pork loin - we found it too cooked.
Went there for a birthday meal - they made a big effort to make the evening special - love the amuse bouches, and the food was excellent - better than the White Onion IMHO
Fantastic Night highly recommended Service was 5 star Food was first class easily Michelin star standard We chose from the set price menu. Loved the personal touch menu printed with Happy Anniversary Lovely atmosphere Will return
An incredible dinner. The food was beyond our expectations; so tasty and enjoyable at every course. We wished we had room for seconds! Very attentive but relaxed service - no pressure at any point, but available and accommodating. Service can make or break an experience - this was exemplary.
Ok, we had high expectations of this place, but they were clearly exceeded. Weve been to quite a few fine dining restaurants but nothing like this. Service was excellent, food was amazing, quite perfectly balanced with pretty much no faults and great price quality ratio. If there was a better rating than 5 stars I would give it, and cant say this about many places weve been to. Looking forward to visit again.
My husband booked a table here as a birthday present, and after eating here last night I can see why they have such good reviews. The welcome was warm and friendly, the service was wonderful, the music in the background perfect (Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrongand the food was gorgeous. We had the prawns and the mackerel to start, the trilogy of pork and the rose veal, the peach vacherin and a lemon meringue tart that was a special. The wine was wonderful too. Overall a lovely evening and we definitely want to return. Highly recommend!
The French Table is a gem of a restaurant! Another family celebration was enjoyed immensely by all of us, thanks to the customary outstanding food and excellent, reasonably priced wine. The service was again exemplary; completely faultless and very personable. We appreciated the usual banter with Judith and Sarah, whose knowledge of wine is impressive and very helpful. TFT deserves a Michelin star: were working on it! Were also greatly looking forward to our next visit.
Ive eaten worse food in Michelin starred restaurants. This place is a gem... A very comfortable and professional level of service to add to the experience.
Tried reservation but fully booked but as promised by the restaurant they notified us of late cancellation. So pleased, food n service didnt disappoint. Food is fine dining at the very best. Owner specifically introduced herself so made it very personal. Highly recommended
Tasting menu... lovely food with different wine paired with each course, service was superb, friendly and knowledge about the food & wine... loved it
We were surprised this wasnt Michelin star. Food was amazing and the staff were very responsive. Cant wait to come back!
What a little gem of a restaurant! We had been waiting the best part of a year to book here as every time we have tried to book, it’s been fully booked for the next four weeks. It was well worth the wait.We booked the tasting menu, 5 course for £45 each and matching wine included for £80. Every course was delicious. More importantly, I think the service was second to none. It’s also incredibly stylish, clean and beautiful setting. We’ve already booked our next meal!
The French Table...An exceptional restaurant in every way.My nieces took myself, my husband, and their partners, to lunch for my 70th birthday treat. The food was beautifully cooked and just deliciousWe all six thought that each choice of dish was just excellent. The menu was also great value for money. The team added lovely birthday touches for me, which made the experience very special and personalThanks to you all!
Really lovely, exceptional service and delicious food as always. One thing tho the duck was a bit salty and tough, i must say i’ve had better.
We had the most delicious anniversary lunch here. The tasting menu is generous, interesting and excellent value. The service was friendly and attentive without being too servile or overbearing. The staff made it really special including confetti on the table and writing happy anniversary on our desert plates. Would thoroughly recommend, especially for a special occasion.
Food was faultless, absolutely amazing and the wines that were paired with the tasting menu were some of the best we’ve tasted. Service was also wonderful. Staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place. The seating was a little awkward and askew but maybe due to the old building and wonky floor not sure it can be helped. The food and drink made up for it though!!
So pleased TFT is open again. Excellent produce, excellently cooked, beautifully presented and expertly served. Flavour combinations to lick your lips for. Sublime drink options and delightful service.PS enjoy the freshly baked artisan bread... delicious 😋 Quality and consistency still geat
What can one say ... incredible food and the warmest most attentive service I think I have ever received. Thank you so much for a truly memorable birthday. Do yourself a favour, visit soon!!
I celebrated my 50th birthday in their private dining room and it could not have been a more perfect experience. Zoe and the team were excellent in the planning providing advice on the wine and food selection. The staff on the day were very welcoming and efficient and we never felt rushed. The food was amazing as was the decor and layout of the room. My 19 guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and all thought TFT was fantastic. We could have stayed all afternoon and evening but alas, all goods things must come to an end. Thank you
We had the most marvellous meal at TFT for a celebratory occasion. The tasting menu, paired wines and service were fantastic! Thanks so much!
Celebration of a birthday!!! Could not fault the food, service, ambience, price and attentiveness. No wonder its the best restaurant in Surbiton. Can not fault it at all. Thank you for a lovely tasting menu, wine paring experience.
Such a treat. We had a nice table in the window. The service was impeccable, smooth and professional. The food was fantastic and imaginative with portions that were just perfect for us. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone - happy to return.
Delicious food - exclusive experience and good, attentive service. Enjoyed the tasting menu with recommended wines. Very pricy but a birthday treat! ❤
The whole experience here is utterly memorable. One of our favourite special occasion restaurants.
Great to be back after lockdown.A superb family restaurant, l have been visiting for several years and never fails to impress. Great lunchtime menu and lovely evening dinner venue. Food and wine absolutely marvellous. All served by wonderful attentive staff. A Surbiton gem.Another visit and the The French Table are celebrating 20 years in Surbiton and what lucky people we are, delicious food, greatwine 🍷 and brilliant service 👍What more can l say, experience the food, ambiance but more the people
Been twice now, and it never fails to exceed expectations. The food is incredible, as is the service. The setting is comfortable and the atmosphere really friendly. Its almost impossible to fault.
I had the pleasure of dining at this gorgeous restaurant last night. My friend and I felt so welcomed by its warm service (the lady we served us was wonderfuland simply unpretentious and complex flavoured dishes. The setting was classy and calming, a suitable place to celebrate any occasion. I will certainly be back again.
A truly hidden gem in leafy Surbiton, 5 star service and 5 star food. This restaurant is so popular with people from far and wide it is recommended to book in advance as tables are like gold dust. Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.
Last minute booking, but they managed to fit us in. The service was amazing and they printed personalised menus as it was a birthday, with a message all printed on the dessert plate (we didnt ask or expect this and were so impressed). The waitress, even showed our children around the kitchen afterwards. Food was delicious, amazing favours with every bite. Cant wait to return.
I was being treated by friends for my 60th birthday. Food was amazing. As was the service. The young German girl was so attentitive without being over the top. Just right. We go to France alot. And this was proper French food plus atmosphere. Will be back.
Delicious tasting menu for our anniversary. Staff and flavours where excellent. Will be back ❤️
Excellent food and incredibly personal and friendly service. Would thoroughly recommend for any special occasion or appreciation of modern cuisine.(Tasting menu lunch)
We had such an amazing time at TFT. Even my wife, who always prefer Asian flavour, praises the foods and asks to come back. Everything, from the ambience, decoration, service, was very nice but the food was really the star. My favourite would be the pork belly with madeira sauce and the crispy mussels potage paysanne. And the bread was so lovely that we went over to The French Tarte to grab a loaf. Definitely one of the best meals weve ever had.
You cannot fail to love a restaurant that unprompted remembers your wedding anniversary 5 years after last visiting; with specially printed menus, red hearts and personally decorated desserts. Just the icing on the cake for a delightful lunch! This is cooking of the highest order and, especially the lunch menu, such good value. Every dish is innovative and flavoursome; for starters we had a lovely rich jerusalem artichoke velouté and a different take on a spring roll filled with chorizo and crispy pork on a bed of puy lentils; mains of tender pork belly and roasted stone bass both accompanied by tasty sweet and savoury garnishes; desserts were very special so we had to include. Such a great surprise. The well priced wine list is a lesson for all restaurants, not overly long but covering all the main wine regions, lots of small independent wineries and many available by glass and 250/500cl.carafes .With 5 glasses of different wines and service the bill was £120. A bargain for this quality not to mention the personal touches and friendly staff.
We went there for our anniversary and the staff member that served us (possibly the owner?went out of her way to provide us with a special present to celebrate the occasion. The food was also delicious which is a bonus!
Food presentation was flawless, yummy food and wine, great atmosphere and the staff were well accommodating.
Came to celebrate a friends wedding and enjoyed the tasting menu with the paired wines. The food was will presented and delicious and the service was attentive. Im not sure I would ever choose the wines they paired, but it was fun regardless.Dishes included, cucumber gazpacho, foie grass, seared cod, lamb two ways and form of chocolate fondant.
Absolutely excellent . Fantastic wine., Fantastic menu and Fantastic service. First 2020 visit. Not the last. My birthday too so had some nice complimentaries. Cant wait to go back!
Amazing food and service. Probably the best restaurant over ever been to.
Highly recommend the Take-Away Tasting Menu. We were completely overwhelmed with the high standard of delights. Expertly prepared and packaged, a taste sensation in every mouthful. Very clever, very tasty, exquisite from start to finish. Such amazing value, thank you for the personal touch on menu to reflect my husbands birthday, you thought of everything. Very memorable indeed!
This place is a must try if you like French food or in general good food. The lunch menu is very well priced and the lunch tasting is a steal deal in my opinion. They also have a cafe next door which I highly recommend .
Heard a lot of good things from this restaurant and now I finally managed to visit it and yes it’s true. This place is a local gem worth travelling for.If you are not careful you will easily miss it.But now the most important part the food. It’s beautiful! I believe it’s the best value fine dining restaurant in whole of london. Each dish is perfectly cooked and decorated. If you want to treat yourself or your better half then book a table here and try this fantastic French restaurant you will not regret it (5 courses lunch tasting menu is a steal of a deal for £32)And after your meal don’t forget to pop into their cafe next door to try some of their equally fantastic cakes.
Amazing food. Deserving of a Michelin star. Surbitons best kept secret. Highly recommend the tasting menu. Sublime food for a good price.
I have been here with some friends for a birthday celebration. Fancy restaurant, really good food and great service: very attentive but never intrusive. I got the butternut squash as starter, hake (with wasabi, very well balanced and tastyfor main and vanilla parfait for dessert. I really enjoyed the dinner and I found worth it to try a fancier restaurant for once in a while. I also asked the staff to send a little dessert to another table for a 70th birthday, and they were very nice and accommodating. Highly recommended.
Wonderful place especially for a special occasion. We went at lunchtime as they have a reasonable deal for 2 or 3 courses. Dinnertime is more expensive. Service impeccable. Food beautifully presented. Have a shop next door where you can purchase desserta and breads and have a light lunch.
My wife and I come here for all our special occasions - the food is fantastic and the staff are both friendly and knowledgeable without being overly formal. This restaurant would do well whichever town, city or village it was in. Couldnt recommend it high enough!
