The Foundry Museum (Gornji Ugao) - Archaeological museum in Dubrovnik, Croatia
on our last full day in Dubrovnik we visited the very wonderful and little known foundry and archeology museum in and under the ancient walks.Thousands of tourists are in Dubrovnik but only 10 today found there way into this amazing museum
Claqué au sol.

Impresionante
Nice cheaper alternative. Lets take it. Compared to the rest of Europe Dubrovnik, although beautiful, can be a rip off. Ive been to Rome, chania in Crete and Valletta in Malta all this year and theyve been a lot cheaper than here.To charge 270 kuna (£30 plus quidfor a walk around the walls and to top it off 7 kuna to use the loo!! Come on.Anyway. This place is 30 kuna (£3.75to get in. A nice interesting old tower, a display and walk around an old foundary and a section of lower wall to walk about. Free toilet as well. We were the only ones in it. Bit of a walk to get to but a small price to pay. Thoroughly recommend
Excelente!!
Get the audio guide or you will have a bad experience. Written guidance is sub par. That being said, this is a nice, quiet, authentic side to Dubrovnik.
Great place to escape from the crowd.
After today, we no longer recommend visiting this place. We visited this museum last year and were amazed by how the history of this museum came to life through the amazing guide, who was so passionate about the archeological findings and the old ways of forgery. So this year we decided to come back, to experience this magical tour again. But it was not worth it at all. The guide was there, but he was guarding the door. He told us, that the board had decided to not have guided tours anymore. Instead of his amazing tour, we were offered an audio guide, which we werent quite interested in, as it just isnt the same as having a living person telling takes with enthusiasm. So we decided to take a walk on our own, which really wasnt the same. The museum did put up plates and signs everywhere, but it only vaguely explained the findings, it was nowhere near how much the guide knew and told us about. Without his presentation of the museum, it was just a bunch of rubbles and remains, it was quite sad, really.
Highly recommended! Entrance is a bit hard to find but just walk to the upper northern corner of the city and into the tower. Then you walk through the walls and to the outside of the city wall. From there you enter the museum. The museum guide was extremely helpful and gave us a tablet with an audio guide on it. Walking above the exposesed ruins of the foundry was pretty cool and the museum is small but very well made and modern. The audio guide is in English (or Croatianand explains the exhibits very well. This museum is definitely a hidden jem! We went here during peak-time and we were completely alone. If you want to get away from the crowds and hide from the sun for a bit this is the place for you.Another unique part of this museum is that you get to access an otherwise unaccessible part of the city wall and look down into the pile gate and overtop of the main old town entrance.
Interesting experience but a little hard to find up a long set of steps. Good thing to do in the rain
Kann ich nur empfehlen. Nicht überlaufen und wirklich schön ausgeführt. Mit eigenem Weg parallel zur Stadtmauer.
Can’t really give true stars - it’s closed Nov 1 through April
Extremely engaged guide
The entrance is now through the base of the Minceta tower, not the basketball court.
Guide was friendly and knowledgeable about its history and how things were made.To find the museum, go through the basketball court in the high corner just inside the city walls.
