The Fortnum’s Bar & Restaurant at Royal Exchange - Restaurant in Puqi, China
Lovely service from the staff. Food with afternoon was mediocre sadly! Also we booked reserving a gluten free tea but then it wasn’t fully available. Beautiful location.
A wonderful evening, beautiful food with the usual exceptional service you get at Fortnums. This is truly one of my favourite places in the City. Thank you Fortnums.
Booked table for coffee for business meeting. Lady refused to give me a table upon arrival even though I was in suit attire. Insisted we sat at the bar. Then saw my guest was an English gentleman and changed her tone. Rude place to avoid, especially if youre not visibly English.
Different. Food was great. Staff very attentive.
My fault, booked the wrong F&M. Pretty ordinary although somewhat interesting location.
Had a lovely meal yesterday for my sisters birthday treat. Food was delicious, location felt very special and our waitress Elvia was so smiley and friendly. ☺️👌
Very nice meal the Scots egg is great so was all the other meals
Really nice place . We had one of those virgin vouchers and the food was excellent and so was the staff. They even brought out extra trio of desserts as it was my wifes birthday 🎂
The staff were very polite and they catered for my allergiesBecause it was in the forecourt, its open so area was very cold
Perfect experience with my guide dog from the minute I arrived. Don’t often get this kind of welcome.Service food and drink was exceptional, but the stand out for me was the way they made my experience as a blind person with a guide dog at the restaurant so good, and it means a lot. I would particularly like to commend the lady running service (11am 2nd Septemberwho genuinely responded to me in the best way I’ve experienced since losing my sight. Honestly, perfect experience. I will be back and will promote the venue to business colleagues.
Perfect food and perfect service, was a lovely experience and felt very welcomed
A wonderful place to visit for a special treat for afternoon tea. The service was impeccable and the afternoon tea was very generous for the price.
It is a grear place for business meetings. The bar for a quick coffee and the tables for breakfast or lunch. The price us reasonable and you get value for the money in terms of taste, location and atmosphere.
Enjoyed a really lovely meal here, definitely retains the class, charm and pomp of the St James’s location and that helps sell the experience of a quintessentially British menu. I ordered here the Dorset crab and the calves liver and bacon, both of which were delicious but the liver really stood out to me as classic comfort food. The staff were all friendly and attentive if a little slow in service, but you really can’t fault it.Would highly recommend this place to anyone!
We had afternoon Tea at this place. It was brilliant and very tasty. The Tea flavours was fantastic and the scones was best of all the choosings. And after the Tea go to the shop and buy the Tea in beautifully boxes
We had a Wonderful Birthday Brunch for my Mums 80th.This place is in a stunning old building. The experience was made extra special by our waitress Patricia, what an asset you are,you where so friendly, fun and helpful and entertaining.Thank you for making my Mums Birthday really special, the food and drinks were also perfect.
Was a great experience the locations was really nice and had a good atmosphere. Teas selection was really good and different the sandwiches and cakes was standard
One of my go to places in London for Welsh rarebit which is getting harder and harder to find these days. During times of Covid I actually feel comfortable eating here even though it’s indoors because the building is so large that you can actually feel air currents moving around
Tasty dinner in a beautiful building with friendly and professional service. We enjoyed all our dishes especially the scotch egg and the sea bass. Both desserts were good too. The crumble topping on the apple and rhubarb crumble was the lightest and crispiest crumble I have had. A classic British dessert stylishly delivered.Special thanks to our waiter Roy for his attentive service with a smile.
If you like awesome service with a friendly smile good quality menu a most go place if you like English tea, surround by a historical building but keep in mind that all this comes at a price it should be a treat unless you have money to go there every day
Great drink at a lovely venue. Two pots of tea £14 so a little be pricey but you are paying for the name and location. Service could have been a little bit quicker but didnt distract from the experience!
Very good experience, great cocktails and menu. A superb place for a quiet drink or meal. Very professional and courteous team.
5 Stars Luxury Experience! We booked with the Virgin Experience for our 2nd Anniversary, we had a delicious and amazing dinner, the food its incredible tasty and the service is more than perfect! The waitresses were so kind and helpful and they offer us a dessert for our anniversary. They have been amazing and we loved everything!! Absolutely recommended as a restaurant if you want to have a special moment with someone you love. Thank you for this amazing dinner!
Afternoon tea with a touch of Xmas in the stunning al fresco-style surroundings of the Royal Exchange’s spectacular central courtyard with bonus stars lights display probably only in December was well worth the price. Gingerbread mini loaf, pistachio white chocolate bauble and violet choux were nice but not the best, however sandwiches were of quality and scones served with lemon curd in addition to jam and clotted cream were well made. Service was fine. Recommended.
The four to me cafe and restaurant is one of the dictionary restaurants in the area they have a lot of choices you can enjoy the environment as well as the taste
Had an evening meal here through Virgin experiences. We really enjoyed the experience which was very relaxed and casual. The building itself is stunning. The food was delicious, all of it was great quality, although the options were a little limited. The staff were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We were even late for our booking but staff made sure all of our courses were prepared before the kitchen closed.
Tried their afternoon tea today. Unfortunately the food was rather underwhelming. Most of the sandwiches had little to no taste. Same for two out of three mini cakes. Lovely scone, jam, lemon curd, and lovely service and surrounding.
Fortnum & Mason has a reputation for great food as somewhere so when I found out they had a restaurant in the city I was very keen to go. Unfortunately we left disappointed with our experience. Firstly, the menu we were given on arrival was different to the one on their website (I was particularly looking forward to trying the Beef Wellington which appears on their website in the Dinner menu). The woman, who I believe was the manager, said “we changed the menu today”. We asked for some recommendations and I decided to go for the shrimp burger, however, this was out of stock. Finally, my third choice was the Lobster spaghetti, which although at least available was quite tasteless. The whole experience was pretty underwhelming and not what you’d expect from Fortnum’s. The only good thing was the service from Arthur, who was very friendly and helpful, and served us a lovely tea at the end.
I very much enjoyed having my belated birthday at Fortnum! The staff was overly attentive, welcoming and the surroundings were spectacular! They replaced my friend’s main course with no extra hustle. I’ll certainly visit again! Highly recommended! ❤️
Had a lovely evening here. The service was excellent. The food plentiful and very enjoyable. The setting is unique.Just be careful. All silver ware then a vinegar bottle just plonked on the table. Please get a vinegar pourer. Just a small point.
Customer service is excellent, staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast and tea are top quality.
Lovely staff, in relaxed up-market shopping mall eatery and bar, great to dine in such an open large space and admire the architecture. Like most diners we ate with the Virgin experience dinner mene, good selection and great cocktails.
Walked in in a thursday after visiting the currency exchange on leadenhall.Very welcoming service and food dispatched promptly.Food was good and tasty though toast felt a bit over toasted and lacking freshness. It wasnt warm to the touch. For all the staff on hand payment could have been a tad quicker.
Amazing building here! It was quite interesting to have afternoon tea in Royal Exchange. But I was disappointed to say the food and tea was below Fortnum & Mason standards.
A little underwhelming. The building is stunning as is the bar. The food was on point. Had a little hiccup with service until Anna took over who was excellent and attentive. The cocktails were a little on the old school side of things for my taste. It was reasonably priced for what we got.
Fairly limited menu. The setting is very nice indeed. I had the caesar salad which was OK, but for the price I had expected it to be much nicer. My local country pubs caesar is considerably nicer!
We enjoyed the most amazing breakfast here. The service was great and the setting is beautiful.
Went to the outside restaurant for the reopening from the latest lockdown on the 12th, we were actually their first customers and it was absolutely perfect. The lady that served us gave us some insights about the Royal Exchange and Fortnum and Mason, she was very kind and lovely. The service was perfect, we were offered a drink by the manager as we were the first customers and the food was absolutely amazing. I recommend the asparagus risotto with fresh asparagus from the Wye Valley and the lobster spaghetti.
Fortums shop in the Royal Exchange is an absolute gem in the neighborhood. You have a great selection of teas, biscuits, honey and jam. Tea tasting is available every day. The interaction with the staff is friendly and fun. Love going there for a little break!
Great service, beautiful setting in the Royal Exchange.Went on a Virgin deal, very limited menu choice. My choices were fab however my fellow diners did not enjoy the shrimp burger or the knickerbocker glory.
One of my new favourite places in the City. The interior is mind blowing and everything else is perfect too!We had a wonderful time in this stunning place yesterday. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We’ve been greeted by Florent who made sure we were looked after. It was my colleague’s birthday and they arranged a delicious cake for her. Big thank you barmen Kremtim. Great place, will definitely come back.
Edit : F&M even didnt bother to answer to my complaint/feedback e-mail, so they dont deserve 3 stars but only 1...Im disappointed by this restaurant. Usually a big fan of F&M, this one is not very convincing. Food quality is OK for the price, not amazing. And size are too little. Its a gastronomical restaurant, I dont ask for large portions, but at least a bit more consistent for the mains. They was a live band for Valentines day, randomly coming at tables. This was the worst by far! My fiancé has anxiety, it totally ruined her lunch... And most tables did not seems to enjoy it too! This was not specified when we booked...Two things saved the meal hopefully. The place is beautiful, absolutly stunning. And our waitress, Patricia, was amazing. She put us at ease, always having a nice word, taking great care of us. She is the gem of this restaurant :Without her I would have probably put one star only.
Beautiful buding and extraordinary location. You feel royal having a cup of tea or English breakfast here. Accomodates to dietary requirements. The building is a little bit cold like a typical old building or museum so I always bring a silk cashmere scarf from Hermes as a blanket when eating here. The toilets are downstairs to the left directly after the entrance in case you dont like asking for locations. There is a Fortnum & Mason gift shop next to the restaurant where you can buy great teas and high end biscuits or jams. The shop is much more luxurious and peaceful than the original stressful shop near Green Park. We hosted an engagement dinner here one evening as there was live music in the large building with great accustics while dining. I hope this helps. Kindest #ingavardhan
Lovely experience as always. Live music came on about 7/8pm on the Tuesday we were there.
It’s a beautiful place to sit for a drink especially with all of the Christmas decorations, however when we had a drink here we did seem to be invisible to the staff when it came to ordering... it does have a bit of a snobby vibe, not sure I’d bother returning, I think there’s better places around with much better service for a similar kind of price.
I tried a small plate as I wasnt too hungry - I had the beluga which comes with a nice presentation, and scrambled eggs to your liking, cooked on an arriving trolley. Excellent with a nice glass of champagne. With the Royal Exchange behind as a backdrop, one cant really complain, can one? Recommend this place for a nice high end drink for meeting and chatting with friends or family.
This little outpost of Fortnum & Mason is like one of those London secrets you dont want to share. The location is outstanding. The champagne is delicious. Its got the feeling of a first class lounge - classy, quiet, relaxed and just a touch indulgent. All the things I love. The oysters are fantastic, as is the service. And on top of all that, I think its extraordinary good value for money.
My boyfriend and I chose to dine here for my birthday as we are both fans of Fortnum & Mason. From start to finish we were extremely happy with the service and the delicious food and drink! We were warmly greeted and shown to our table by Tamas, the kind and friendly manager. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful in keeping with the Fortnum and Mason standard. The food is delicious, I thoroughly recommend the Rib-eye steak with mash. The mash was exquisite...pillows of creamy delight! And the steak cooked to perfection. For the desert I had the creme caramel and it is the best I have ever eaten. It had a lovely chocolate piping with Happy Birthday which was a lovely touch. The interior is beautiful and I love the booth seating. We will definitely come back for drinks and nibbles as we would like to sit at the stunning bar next time. We will definitely be back for dinner on special occasions too. Thank you Tamas and team, keep up the great work!
Surprisingly slow service and poor inventory on drinks. Unlikely to return albeit one of the waiters was apologetic
Lovely venue but service was very poor. The manager is not welcoming. Claims it’s only a place for dinner and don’t serve coffee or tea at 4pm. It’s a convenient place to meet up but after one experience I won’t recommend it.
