The Five Rise Locks Cafe - Cafe in Bingley, United Kingdom
Disappointed. No hot food after 2pm despite the place being busy (it was a Saturday). Sandwich we ordered instead was distinctly light on filling!! More like thick bread with a scraping of tuna on. On the upside the scone was nice.
Pleasant and cosy cafe on the side of the canal at this world famous tourist spot.Nice service, and not over priced! Worth the walk up the canal to see the five locks and enjoy this cafe. Dog friendly too.
Lovely cafe, great strong cup of tea and delicious seeded flapjack. Great value too.
Been here lots of times and will go back lots more times theres gluten free cake done deal for me and the tea is hot and thats a must in Yorkshire
Busy at a weekend. Great Wee cafe, with delicious pastries.
Just taken mum & dad out for a walk and called here for a snack. Delicious food and drinks at a reasonable price, service with a smile 😊
Very nice food. Pleasant staff and lovely location on the canal mooring. Update 2/10/22 several visits here and always great food and quick service. Several of us in the cycling group but no significant delays in food from full breakfast to lovely cakes
Nice place to stop for a cuppa no matter how you get there. Seeing Queen guitarist Brian May outside was an added bonus!
Good menu choice. Tea and a proper yorkshire curd tart.
As always a pretty good coffee and snack place, perfect for relaxing.
We really enjoyed tea and cake today. It is quite unusual to get a really good tasty cup of tea and an excellent cake. We got both!
We went to visit Five Rise Locks but didnt know there was Five Rise Locks Cafe. Very happy to find the cafe here. Lovely latte & hot chocolate. We also had the caramel chocolate brownie. All were very tasty. Looking forward to going back again for something to eat. Extensive menu and reasonably priced. Fast & friendly service. Quite a cold day when we visited so not to busy. Highly recommended 😊. We went back today and this time had food. The English Breakfast was all very tasty and good value at £5.90 (served upto 12.30Very happy with the food and service.Visited here today - Sep 2022Very enjoyable visit again and lovely food as before.
Friendly staff, great cafe good and a wide selection. Lovely location.
Charming cafe by the locks with canal boats passing and along the side. Great trust guide ready to give information on canals and the areas history
Amazing breakfast. Fast, friendly service. Good price. The setting is gorgeous with lots of good walks nearby.
Enjoyed a lovely sandwich lunch with our friends, we had our dogs with us, and sat inside.
Quite pricey for what it is and not serving an all day breakfast seems like a terrible mistake.
A nice little place by the canal, picnic tables were also located outside, so you can enjoy the view. The menu look ok and the prices reasonable. I will definitely go back.
Great place to stop for refreshments when walking along the canal. Tea and cakes were great and prices very reasonable.
Waited for the cafe to open(SundayI had a full English my good lady had a cheese and ham toastie the food was brought out quickly and hot, the staff are polite and the cafe is clean, though we sat outside. A lovely setting good selection and we thought reasonably priced
Nice place by the canal 👍 very friendly staff and good food 😊
Really nice food , really nice place, and realist pricing ie quite cheap .
Great bacon sandwich! Id score 5 stars if the cappucinos were a bit bigger. They taste good but are on the small side. Nice friendly place.
Well, we decided to walk from Bingley to 3 rise locks and then 5 rise locks. It was quite a warm day and we were pleased to see the cafe at the top open. Lovely and friendly welcome from the staff. We had ice creams and sat outside. Very pleasant. Quite a few people eating from the menu. Prices seemed very reasonable and food looked delicious. If youre walking the towpath, stop and treat yourself.
Perfect place to enjoy a delicious jacket potato, Marshfield ice cream and a very flavoured drink ( plum &cherrythat I have never tried before. The staff is friendly and the café is spacious.
Nice service, lovely scenery. Great end to a walk
Bike, walk, run or park, a great cafe to have 5 minutes & watch one of the 7 wonders of the canal network
Many waitresses however ordering, paying and collecting food must be done at the till. Would be nice if they can take the order and payment, then deliver the food to the table. Less queue
Locks very impressive and worth the visit. After try the cafe which serves very good coffee.
We like coming here and they have quite an extensive menu for a small cafe lots of choice
Lovely little cafe. Well worth the bike ride. Nice, attentive staff serving good, well priced good.
Stopped at the café during a midweek walk along canal. The cafe wasnt too busy for a lunchtime. The service was good and friendly staff. We opted for a chicken and bacon salad, feta and olive salad. Both bowls of salad had fresh veg consisting of little gem lettuce, tomato, cucumber, pepper and onion. There was plenty of toppings on both. The salads came with a ranch sauce which boosted the fresh flavour.A pot of tea and mocha with two salads came to around £15, great value.
Stopped for coffee and cake and a little rest. Lovely brisk walk from Saltaire and back.
Beautiful scenery and excellent cafe
Lovely setting and a welcome coffee. Very clean toilets.
They make a nice cappuccino that comes in nice porcelain cups, in 2 sizes. It is very reasonably priced. The cafe is a great place to meet on a Wednesday afternoon (or any other timeunder the present circumstances as there is plenty of seating in a spacious airy building. And of course it is located at the famous Five Rise locks. Why go anywhere else? Some day I will try the food and review that too. DB
Lovely cafe, fantastic staff, dog friendly and great cupa. Had bacon, brei and cranberry panini. Bacon was cooked to my perfection. The dog loved his sausage too
A twee ittle cafe in a beautiful location.Parking on nearby residential streets.Great walks along the canal from here.Excellent hot Chocolate and REALLY good sandwiches n toasties.Highly recommended stop off, whatever your plans
This place does amazing food and has picturesc views and scenic walks along the canal .a must see
Just sat outside with a coffee. Which was hot & very good.
A very pleasant café in a lovely location beside Leeds/Liverpool canal. Very helpful and friendly workers and a relaxed atmosphere. I met a friend who I hadnt seen since lockdown and we talked for a long time over cups of tea and coffee and a very good toasted tea cake. In spite of the length of time we stayed we were made to feel welcome.
Did I said brilliant cafe. Yes it is beautiful place just at the edge of canal. Giving u an opportunity to have beautiful views while u enjoy ur tea or food. Atmosphere is as beautiful as this cafe is. U can feel peace n calm. Friendly n attentive staff, great service. Not only tea or coffee but food u can enjoy there. They have delicious cake variety which was mouthwatering for me so I ordered couple of 😆. Situated at Five Rise famous Lock mean bit busy too at brunch time. We had wonderful time there. Thanks to the staff specially the young girl on counter 👍
Great service, friendly staff in a beautiful location. Fascinating to see the 5 rise locks just 50 yards from the front door. Food, drinks and w/c available.
We love going for breakfast/brunch here, the food is tasty, reasonably priced and you always get service with a smile! The selection of cakes are great too. We’re lucky to have a lovely cafe such as this so close to home.
Good selection of options at decent prices. Coffee is very hit and miss, ranging anywhere from totally perfect, to just a cup of hot milk, to tongue burningly hot. The cakes and sweets are good - love the chocolate brownie. The paninis are disappointing - not much filling and cheap tasting bread. Great location, but always busy, and can be a bit chaotic.
Very nice view but dissapointing service. They got our order totally wrong even though I repeated it a couple times. Ordered the breakfast but asked that they not put the beans on the plate but on the side. They brought the breakfast with beans on the plate and beans on the side. My wife asked for a toasted egg sandwich but wanted a hard egg. Twice they brought us a soft egg. Got it right third time! The toasted roll was soggy. We had to ask for the free coffee that comes free with the breakfast.
A beautiful country walk and fascinating afternoon watching the locks. The food was plentiful, and good at the café, and the staff were friendly, and efficient.
A delightful little cafe at the top of the locks. Just what the doctor ordered after the big climb from the bottom. A nice cuppa and a jam scone. Nice outside seating area with picnic tables too.
Not too bad for a quick drink and a sandwich as your taking in the sites of five rise locks. The cafe allows you to pay by card but there is a minimum spend of around six pounds. Outdoor seating is provided and there are toilets and washroom facilities for customers. Overall not too bad.
This was a wonderful site to see while out biking along the canal. Have seen many locks in my day but never 5 in a row.
