Proper rock bar with live music, pool, drinks specials, a lively crowd and comedy on Mondays.
Went to a comedy night. Great fun for a Monday night. Cheaper on the door than in advance for some reason.
I wanted to visit this venue with my boyfriend on Friday night because he said it was a good place. However, the security guard at the front door didnt want to let us in because he thought we were too drunk. This was far from the truth and was proven by the fact that a few minutes later one of his colleagues let us in finally without any problems. We ordered two beers that we wanted to drink in peace whilst listening to good music. This couldnt happen due to the first doorman showed up. He abused us verbally and physically, shouted at us, was aggressive and incomprehensibly angry. He intentionally poured our drinks on the floor and on us, smashed the glasses.I normally dont write reviews like this and I worked in hospitality too. I dont agree that the customer is always right. But Ive never experienced such rudeness. Ive never experienced someone abusing their perceived power like this. Ive never felt so humiliated in a venue. We were absolutely harmless, didnt hurt or provoke anyone, just wanted to drink our drinks we paid for. We were shocked by this situation and other people around us didnt get this either. It was absolutely unnecessary and unacceptable. We may not have been sympathetic to him for any reason but this cant be an excuse for his horrible behaviour, we were paying guests. I also can imagine he was unwilling to let us in close to closing time (11 PM isheven though we had no intention of sleeping there. We just wanted to spend a pleasant night in a good place and traveled a lot for it. Instead we had awful time there.Theres no way I would recommend this place after what happened and I only hope there will be consequences because it says a lot about the management how they handle this. Id prefer not to give a single star but the site doesnt let me send my review without it. There are way better places in London for those people who love rock and metal music.
I love music. But Im disappointed as the music variety played is somewhat conservative and controlled by the bar staff. The juke box offers a great variety but the bar staff delete songs customers pay for if they dont recognise the band, for example MC5 (Godfathers of Punk). If you want a curated jukebox, organise yourself before getting customers to waste time and money on it. And no one believes the bar staff when they say the computer is to blame for not playing the songs. Customers arent idiots. We can literally see the bar staff with the remote control, deleting songs. Apart from that, a vital part of London life. Lets hope it improves, embraces everyone and doesnt die by literally getting lost up its own arz.
Great venue, great atmosphere, fab bar staff, absinthe shots... 😍😍😍😍
Dark, dinghy, moody staff, horrible glasses. No customer service at all especially from the very rude blond man with mullet & tash. His tone to customers is unacceptable. Avoid this pub, far better establishments in the area.
Great bar! The staff were amazing, friendly and fun! Great choices of drinks including rattler in bottles which I was sooo happy about! The jukebox is awesome full of all rock metal and lots of other music! Pool table is good and a nice function room. Not the biggest place but had lots of fun.
Recently had a party at the venue. While I still had a good night and so did the guests, that was mainly because of the cheap drinks. The venue itself looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned , the staff were rude, moody and one of them in particular caused my partner major stress. This member of staff who’s name is Jodie, she was looking for any little thing to shut the party down and didn’t once speak to me about it, but chose to keep asking my partner to ask people to leave for little to nothing. On top of that the staff kept taking food from the tables and were rude to my friends and family when they were trying to be served. Personally wouldn’t recommend booking an event here for a birthday. Staff need training or replacing for customer service as it felt as though we’d inconvenienced them the whole night. The pub itself has a very rock and roll feel and I suspect had we been more rock type people we’d of received a better service.
Lovely vibes here, great clientele. Good bar staff and range of drinks. Definitely worth seeking out for the live music around the back.
Love this pub. Always great atmosphere and a fun time
Love this place, always go on a Sunday for the happy hour and free jukebox. Great vibes and lovely bartenders, always super friendly and welcoming. Just a very nice vibe all round. Strong recommendation for the Island Disgrace 😭👌
Great atmosphere, friendly crowds and good music!
Great little venue! Good priced drinks too!
Good pub with a cosy backroom for gigs and Comedy
Great venue bar, lots going on, Pool table and Jukebox.
Very vibey, good music, nice staff, great place to go for a drink. Also a lovely live music venue -typical hot sweaty gig vibes but good times, recommend
Great pub, great atmosphere, great staff. Just a shame theres no Real Ale on pump.
I am remanising, at 52 now, I use to drink here at 15. I remember Eric Clapton singing with the locals. Cool then cool now 😁
Great atmosphere ,lovely small venue for.intimate band gigs. Decent beer too if you like that kind of thing.
Brilliant Banquet Records backed venue with wicked IPA. The Mysterines were fab but dont get caught out by the no cash at the bar policy, bar staff lovely mind, highly recommended.
Best bar Ive ever been to. Im now a regular. Great live shows, Great price for drinks and lots of friendly people.
Great Little pub, with a hidden venue inside. Good sound, great vibe if you like metal and very lovely staff
I regularly visit The Fighting Cocksfor live stand-up comedy @ Outside the Box Comedy. Nice Pub with a Pool table and unique Vibe.
Has reputation as one of the best Rock bars in London.Reputation deserved. XD
Great little venue. Lovely bar staff, nice friendly door staff and always great music with a good sound technician
Really awesome, cosy venue with a pretty epic live music!
Great people, great beer, great music and visited by celebs of all kinds! Comedians, rock stars, legends!
Visited to see Badflower play August 2021, just wow! what an amazing venue with such a great atmosphere.
I dressed like an insect for a whole day and no one said anything. I felt very welcomed and they let me drink as much sugar water as possible. Great bar staff.
Great little pub for music. Saw Gang of Youths and really enjoyed the venue and atmosphere. Bar is also good, different but not pretentiously so. Lot of bar staff so no waiting and all were friendly. Will defo go again even without a gig being on. Sell Aspalls as well which gets it a star on its own.
Used to enjoy this bar but had never been down to the venue before, so much smaller than I thought it would be and the service at the bar was absolutely painful. Stood there waiting multiple times not wanting to say anything to the bar staff that were not serving anyone because it felt rude but when they did finally get around to serving it was just all so slow, one guy there looked half asleep. Just not what I expect at a rock bar especially compared to other places I go.
Was due to visit FC for the first time but arrived too late to get in which wasnt a problem. I asked the doorman where he thought we could go as hadnt sampled the local nightlife before and he was just really rude and arrogant. We werent rude or drunk, but just wanted a recommendation. Not hard to be polite!
Great atmosphere. Fantastic selection of drinks. Makes a nice change from the masses of gastro pubs everywhere.
Proper rock bar, the likes of which are in very short supply this day and age. Decent beer selection too, vaulting this establishment into the upper echelons of greatness.
In an age where pubs and live music venues are dying, this place thrives, through great selection of drinks, great staff and a great atmosphere. This place has been amazing for as long as I can remember, although with so many drink deals I cant always remember everything! If you like music, and you like drink, this is definitely the place to go.
Great bar. Called in whilst down in Kingston visiting friends. The locals were friendly and it was a great atmosphere. Ill definitely call in again next town Im down south.
Small venue but great sound and experience!! 😊
A proper rock pub that does amazing live music. Tonight Banquet Records had Badflower there playing a Reading and Leeds warm up. Staff friendly, drinks reasonably priced.
With exception to the pinball machine being broken and a couple of fellow customers being a bit unwholesome (the latter not being the venues fault), this is one of the best pubs Ive been to and have since been to many times. Ive seen some wonderful bands from Brosephine, Hawxx, Lunar Jam and The Lodgers over the years to name a few at this venue and the atmosphere is fantastic. the drinks are varied and reasonably priced plus theres a jukebox and a pool table which always is a big plus for me. would recommend to anyone but especially anyone who is interested in music
My favourite rock bar in London! Been going there for years and have some amazing memories. Bar staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is vibrant and I would definitely recommend it even in these Covid times
Love this place!! My 2nd and 3rd home next to work and my actual home.. staff are amazeballs! Super friendly, the venue is wicked and the music is spot on! Cant beat the atmosphere in this place! Always a good time here!
Best venue for miles. Started charging six quid door fees for bands but beers only about 4 quid a pint so worth it. Just saw the Swamp Stomp String Band: brilliant musicianship, brilliant atmosphere!
This is such a great pub and a credit to Kingston as a whole. Its definitely not going to be everyones cup of tea but if youre a fan of rock music and want what is surprisingly cosy during the day and super lively at night, this is your pub. Ive been going to this pub since about 2005 and it has been getting better and better every year and the gig venue part is not only something you should try to visit as part of the audience, you should try to play there if you want to perform! Superb place - 100% recommended.
Ive been in and out of this bar for over 14 years and theres plenty of reasons why I keep coming back here. The Fighting cocks recently refurbished and looks great while keeping its classic rock theme. This is more than just your average pub with a great selection of band nights and comedy gigs. Even if you are just after a swift pint, there is rocking tunes, friendly and welcoming bar staff (the minute you arrive at the barand humerous regulars.
Great venue, went to see reginald d hunter. It is a heavy metal pub but staff are very gentle and quick. The venue had plentiful ladies loos. Good, paying, parking right outside and the stage area was intimate with great accustics
Cheap drinks in this peculiar rock pub. Little concert space downstairs, amateur and semi-professional punk rock groups with merchandising and CDs selling point.
As a retired biker I was transported back to my wilder days of the 1960s/70s having enteredAs it was my first time here early afternoon I was reminded of " the hoist", spikler, black cap and such dens of. my youthThank you for bringing back a lot of happy memories.Post scrip dated, 3/7/18Main bar under going a refit see photo for opening times
If you love rock bars its awesome! If you dont youll likely hate it.
Frequent this pub to attend comedy nights on Monday. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Pool table, pinball, and other games machines in side pockets of the the pub. Serves a mixture of draft, bottles and spirits. They also do a happy hour up until 8pm on cocktails certainly on a Monday and may be on throughout the week.
The bar upstairs has some great cocktails and all drinks are priced well. Staff are friendly, and the little gig room downstairs is very nice; cosy with decent acoustics. Five stars alone for hosting A Great Big Pile Of Leaves, You Blew It! & The Early November.
Best place to watch live music in Kingston and manages to draw some big bands from around the world at times. Very decent sound for a venue of its size.
